[SCRIPT] V6 SuperCharger tried on NookColor - Nook Color Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I wonder if anyone else aside from me has come across this thread. I discovered it when I was browsing the xda-developer's blog site. It's about running a script that supposedly fixes any android system's memory management.
I did try it on my NC, running CM7 Nightly 144, with the kernel OCd at 1.2GHz and I daresay it did made a lot of difference. It made my Nook noticeably more snappy, and reduced the lags I've been getting whenever I multitask.
When I ran the script the first time and rebooted the device, the 'SuperCharged' state did not persist. I later on figured out that it was because I had the app called AutoKiller Memory Optimizer running. I uninstalled that app and ran the script once more, rebooting the NC, and I found out that that did the trick: the supercharged state DID persist after the reboot.
It's really great because I strongly believe that it did made my NC a lot faster and more responsive. You might wanna give it a go too.
Here's that link again: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991276
Throw me some questions about it--I'd be glad to help.

Sounds awesome! Can you tell me how you installed it? Sorry I'm kind of a noob and don't quite understand scripts yet. I have phiremod v6.3 it should work right?

which one of the memory things did you use?

Well I'm using no. 9, the MegaRam 2 or something. It significantly made my device a lot faster and more responsive.

@ncmt4g64: Yes, it should work on all ROMs since its a universal script. Just follow the installation instructions on that thread and you're good to go. Here's the instructions, coming from the original thread:
Requirements:
1. Rooted Phone. Milestoners, you can use Universal Androot (not in market ?)
2. Script Manager or Terminal Emulator to run the script. Stock ROMs can also use SM to load up boot scripts!
3. Busybox 1.18.2 OR LOWER - 1.18.3 or newer are VERY much a hassle with errors that should NOT be errors!
4. AutoStart Script by me - Enables Stock ROMS (Milestone) to utilize etc/init.d for boot scripts.
Stock ROMS (Milestone) - Vulnerable recovery is not required!
Installing/Using:
1. Download the attached V6_SuperCharger_for_Android*.txt script and save to your sdcard.
... Do NOT run the V6 SuperCharger install script at boot!
2. Load the script (V6_SuperCharger_for_Android*.txt) into Script Manager and select "Run as Root."
3. Touch the screen for the soft keyboard or slide out the keyboard and get SuperCharged! Just pick an option!
4. READ the script's output!
5. Afterwards, READ the html HELP FILE in the root of your SD Card!
6. Disable "Lock Home in Memory" if your ROM has this option.
7. Optional: For a quick status check, you can put a Script Manager widget for V6 SuperCharger on you desktop

Nope. The script persist in every boot. Unless when you're flashing a nightly and deleting the /data then yes you have to do it all over again.

I've been using for a week or so.
It works, try it. I had zero experience with scripts before using this one and imho it's quite easy and intuitive to use - just you follow the instructions .

Sorry to be such a noob but with phiremod v6.3 do I follow the link for the busybox download?
Thanks

I used 9th option also but I dont notice any difference.
How can I be sure that this thing works?

Just curious, with so many options, why did you choose #9 in particular? Or did you apply them one at a time and found that one to make the best improvement in performance? Thanks.

You might wanna ask that directly in their thread by clicking here. For me, it did work, however I shifted from using MegaRam 2 to Multitasking. I guess it does depend on how you use your nook/how many apps are running in the background/etc.

I guess I chose it because it has the highest 'minfree values', which means the NC's memory is being maximized, making it a lot more snappy, fast and responsive not to mention reducing screen redraws.

Yow! Huge improvement! Thanks for the tips.

Will this also work for those of using runnin cm7 off sd cards?

I have also seen a great improvement using option 9 in V6 supercharger running Phiremod V7.1 Stable. Thanks

Wow, here I thought I was the only one doing this. I had gone with the balanced, and it does seem to make *some* difference.
Sometimes with the amount of crap you throw at this thing, you start wondering if the improvements are in your head. For instance, today I got around to testing Netflix, and the quality, skippage, etc, while tethered to my phone was excellent. But at the same time, Netflix just updated their app, so....
I did notice a marked improvement, however, in scrolling lists. That one I know isn't in my head, because it's my biggest beef with Android.

Most visible improvement to my Nook was the speed of loading gallery albums.
Unleashed from my rooted Desire HD

Can I use it with any task killer? cz I'm fond of using task killer & killing apps frequently. Or does it also handles that?

[Solved] Temproot is good!

Hey people,
There's a lot of talk about permrooting the desire z etc. But i just want to throw this out there.
I like temproot via visionary. And i'll tell you why.
First, temproot is sufficient for titanium to back up your phone and restore it.
Second, temproot is enough to overclock your phone by running scripts in gscript. And even though you have to do it manually after reboot (ie lost root) it really takes less than 10 seconds after you have it all set up.
Third, if i've done something to create a problem (I mean temporary things like overclock, disabling packages etc.), i can just reboot and voila! Working phone again. However, i'm not sure this would make the phone "invincible" to tampering. Make sure you know what you're doing or don't do it!!!!
This is assuming you like your current ROM, like I do, and you're not too hung up on nandroid/bart backups. Personally, i prefer nandroid/bart from a good clockworkmod custom backup, but it's a tradeoff with having an almost perfectly safe rooting experience.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Yes but can you flash ROMs? Nope. It's a completely different experience once you start flashing. And you can always revert the perm root if you run into problems with the phone...
It's a good point you make.
On my G1 I tried all the CM ROMS I could try, and super d, e, and f. I loved the tweaks available and sent most nights flashing or testing ROM and kernel combos.
But in the end I, personally was essentially looking for what this current sense ROM seems to be delivering so far. Just my personal taste right now.
It was just food for thought for all those who may feel squeamish about permroot on their new phone but want a little bit more freedom.
I'm sure in a few months i'll be modding the crap out of this thing anyway. Can't suppress the inner nerd forever lol.

A couple month!? I literally rooted this and started flashing like a madman the second this was out of the box... where do you find the restraint?
HTC Vision/T-Mobile G2 w/Cyanogenmod 6.1.1&G2 Fast kernel.
Maybe I'm overestimating myself haha. When I finally got into super d on my g1 I was like "this is good, this is fast, just be happy with this" but still I was swapping ROMs left and right like every night haha
Once I was working out of town and I tried a new overclocking kernel first thing in the morning, got my phone all goofed up including my SD card corrupted somehow, used a blackberry torch to format and to get the stock Android 1.0 nbh back on my SD card, and had the thing rooted and running a brand new ROM by the end of breakfast. Lol.
Soooooo maybe i'll last a couple more days haha
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
I couldn't live without CyanogenMod. There is no reason to NOT permaroot.
Sent from my HTC Vision using Tapatalk
Gscript overclocking is inefficient, if you want a stable and consistant OC with UV kernels you'll have to root. My 2cents.
I am very familiar with cm6, but I want you to covert me lol.
What makes the script oc inefficient?
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
You can't undervolt for screen off profiles or change voltage for smoother performance, you can only set 1 OC speed with gscript running at stock voltage. So when you set your cpu speed to let's say 1.4GHz with gscript it is always running at that speed when the power is on, thus using more power, even with the screen off.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
Hmm. I am not sure about controlling the voltages (important for battery life and cpu heat, right?), but both set cpu and system panel both show my cpu freq as changing from 245 MHz to 1017 MHz (or 1420 MHz if i want) according to demand with a good half dozen other speeds in between.
Edit: perhaps i should note that i was using the cpoc.sh, oc.sh (or ohshitttt.sh), and noreboot.sh scripts i found somewhere. They seem to work pretty well so far. I don't know too much about mflops, but i just did one and my d z was 37 @ 1017 MHz and 49 @ 1420 MHz.

Thanks for this thread. Coupled with ianmcquinn's post about Permanent Root, I made the decision to root. Less than 5 minutes later, it was done.
...and I guess, sorry for the *bump,* but I'm new to this forum and hope you don't beat me me too badly with those nunchakus.
Honestly, I don't know WHAT I was thinking lol.
Actually, at the time, none of the custom roms offered anything more than the stock rom + oc, unless you wanted aosp on your dz or sense on your G2. Now, it's an entirely different story. Thanks to great devs (siulmagic in particular when it comes to diversity) we have:
Like 10 versions of Sense from 1.0 over Froyo, to Sense 3.0 over Gingerbread 2.3.4 and everything in between.
Probably twice as many takes on AOSP, mostly from cm7, but cm6 and other AOSP sources as well.
I think there might be five MIUI roms kicking around too.
If you are newly rooted, my top 3 suggestions for exploring new roms are:
1. Virtuous Unity: The ultimate in Sense flashiness, but also very quick and stable. Watch out for Sense Paradox too!
2. Osimood MIUI: the included kernel puts it above the others (right now). Otherwise, I think all the lastest MIUI builds are essentially the same. MIUI is something totally different for android. Don't dismiss it too quickly
3. SuperCM7: a cm7 build that just feels right. Fantastic performance and flexibility.
To be honest, I'm using SenseGinger 3.0 as my daily driver right now, but I've done some tweaks to it myself. I find it to be a very well rounded contribution as well.

Perm-rooting: its like temprooting, but several times better without the headaches.
Lol... wow, how'd this thread resurface?! I can't even count the number of rom flashes and fried SD Cards since I posted here in January!

Because i like acer apps, like the folders for social, games, and other stuff, also i liked lets golf and need for seed and with this rom you have the best from custom roms and stock roms.
It has a good battery life, and i watch a lot of videos in the tablet. It last 6 hours when watching videos, when surfing it last 8 hours the most.
IMO the best rom is the stock 3.1 with root and richardtrips kernel as most other roms have problems with one thing or another and its always a trade off. 3.1 is solid and the custom kernel allows for 1.6 OC which really turns the device into a powerhouse.
I'm also into the vanilla look of honeycomb and the cheesy icon reskins found on other roms is pretty lame but to each his own .
Probably not what you wanted to hear since you're asking about custom roms but it doesnt hurt to express my opinion on the subject.
was using taboonay 2.0 with thor kernel.
battery life good and fast.
O.C to 1.5 and its stable for me. (directly from tabootools, not using setCPU
currently testing Taboonay 2.1 and seems good too. just right now many people having root issues so better dont jump to it.

I had this problem of getting please insert Sim. I found I out that it is kernel specific. If the kernel devs had developed it for use with a500/501 then the Sim card will be present. If that is the case then you need to add the line ro.carrier=wifi-only to /system/build.prop
Then the annoying messages will go away . As for the bookmarks, I got no ideas

Using ErwinP's CM-9 ROM, its fast with some issues

Hello all,
Today i installed the CM-9 ROM by ErwinP on my 1 year old Wildfire.
Its good with some issues:
1. Camera doesn't work.
2. gallery has a bug. The albums were visible when we tap and hold on the screen and drag to left or right. when we lift the finger the screen goes blank.
3. menu loading is slow every time.
4. screen lock is present but you have to select slide in the lock screen settings.
For any further issues, i'll update here, as I am new to this forum.
Some facts:
The ROM after install takes 151.8 MB of internal memory.
I have custom MTD partition of 160MB and 15MB cache. I'm getting 290 of internal memory but the system initially is taking 40 MB(I don't know why.)
So, usable is 250MB internal memory.

You need to flash gapps I think, don't bother with 3.4.4 you should get an auto update to the new play one eventually.

that's probably the reason why you have more space on your internal memory because you forgot to flash gapps. incase you havent, flash gapps as what scratch and nejc suggested.. its also posted in op. its the latest gapps, about 52 mb in size so you will have to set your mtd partitions to default which is 250. im using the modified version which is just about 19 mb.
goodluck!
First of all thanks to all(Scratch0805,pauch_19 and nejc121) for your support in providing the information.
After getting the solution suggested by "Scratch0805". I again installed the ROM and along with the gapps at the same time. This time, I have taken the partition as 200 and 20. And after the boot, in terminal i found that system is using 186.4 MB. Still 13.6MB left.
Note: i installed the gapps with the size 51.88MB unmodified zip.
Now, everything works as it should have with camera as the exception.
One thing I want to know, what should be the CPU settings to follow for more than a day of battery life. Previously, i was using ON-DEMAND with 264-672MHz
and getting less than 22hrs of backup in CM7.

mine is 352/729 smartassv2. on minimal - regular use, mine last a day and a half..i really think it depends on phone usage.
@pauch_19 : So, it means you are not using any apps to control the cpu settings.
I also used the smartassv2 governor and i found that backup decreases as it was in on-demand.
But, the smoothness in using gets better in smartassv2. So, can you tell me which governor will be better in terms of battery life and speed or any post where its mentioned.
atm i dont have too many apps which is also i think one reason why my phone is alot smoother, responsive and gives me a very decent battery life. In performance - processor, my cpu frequency minimum is 352 and 729 max. i used this values even when i was on cm7 nightlies coz its much stable..havent tried it at 768 though cpu governor is smartass v2.

I'm using the miui rom which is basically a modified version of cm9, I use setcpu just to set an underclock profile for when the screen goes off. My settings are on demand176/576 and powersave 176/352 as I've noticed that unless i'm straining the cpu by playing angry birds or watching a video with on demand my cpu tends to stay low doing normal things like making a phone call or checking xda but with smartassv2 it seems to jump high even when it doesn't really need to.

@pauch_19 : As for your settings goes, it good for performance. And you are also getting good life out of it. Nice to know that. I also read a post earlier where members are saying CM7 is better than SplashMOD. If its true, kindly tell me If you know which CM7 nightlies version do i use and how to remove the apps(I once used CM7 # 256,I didn't like the camera UI but it was smooth though) I then, switched to SplashMOD 1.6.
@Scratch0805 : I like the CPU settings you were using. I will definitely try those when I'll install the SPlashMOD v2.0 downloaded yesterday. But, I haven't tried on 176 because i thought then I'll get delay in getting calls and also lag in the background process. If these are not the issues you are getting, then I will must use these, and I can say that I will get at least 35+hrs of backup. And how MIUI is as compared to CM9?
thanks again for the responses I'm getting.
Somewhere in themes and apps section is a thread for miui camera, its a flashable zip which will give you a much nicer camera ui than the cm7 one.
Miui is beautiful as a standalone Rom but gets even better if your prepared to put some effort in, it has the same bugs as cm9, but spend a few hours setting up workarounds and it runs like a dream, I only have 2 problems now 1 is the camera (nevermind tho, I have a digital cam anyway) 2 is if you like theming your phone miui is awesome for it, the only problem is it was designed for hdpi and gingerbread so all the top themes need modding to fit ldpi and ics.

Personally I haven't tried Splashmod so I really couldnt say CM7 is better. I only tried CM7 and Im really impressed at how Cyanogen turned it into a very nice and fast rom. Before trying erwin's CM9 I was on nightly 256 build 14 and everything is working well.
I will try that one also with the miui camera Scratch0805 suggested. If all goes well, at the end of the day I'll be using CM7.
The camera should be fine on any rom I think, splashmod is basically either cm7 or oxygen (can't remember which one its based on atm as the "dev" changes his mind more often than I change my wallpaper ) with some apps removed or substituted for another. Underneath though it will always be cm7 or oxygen.
I'm on miui v4 atm and loving it but I'd recommend till you get into the swing either cm7 nightly 256 or keep an eye on the cm7 thread and look for the unofficial builds which have been built by erwinp and cobje, they may have a few bugs though I doubt anything serious otherwise they wouldn't release it + we are still clinging on to some fairly talented people that will most likely suss out the bugs and let everyone know how to fix them in the thread.

Thank yous and questions about optimizing 4.1+ ROMs

My NookColor is running ParanoidAndroid right now, which I have found upon 2 days of usage, to be very stable, responsive and generally faster as compared to the official nightly of CM10. I recently came from using MROM, a CM7 ROM pretty much like MiRAGe, which is I think by far the best ROM to use for the Nook Color if you are looking for stability.
I never could have hoped that my Nook Color could go any further than 2.3 gingerbread and remain stable, after tying out the early builds of CM9/CM10, eyeballer's CM9 nightlies, and PA. But because of the dedication of the many devs here at XDA's Nook Color forum, the Nook Color has tasted froyo, gingerbread, honeycomb, ice cream sandwich...and now even Jelly Bean. And upon experiencing how fast and responsibe the PA ROM was, I can confidently say that a Nook Color running Jelly Bean can be a daily driver! It's just amazing. First of all, I'd like to personally thank the developers. Fattire, mateorod, dalingrin, eyeballer...I know I'm missing names and I'm sorry if I can't list them all here (I wish I could!) But really, thank you. Having a Nook Color has changed my life. I love how I daily go into XDA, always excited to try something, flash something, install something, report something...all this tinkering! I have learned a lot and have experienced first hand the power of Open Source. Thank you so much, y'all!
Now that I've gotten my appreciation out of the way, time to ask some questions I've had for some time now. I didn't want to litter the dev threads for my lengthy questions so I posted it here instead.
Now, I'd also like to know, for those who have already tried, how they were able to install and ran zeppelinrox's V6 SuperCharger script on a Nook Color running a ROM based on 4.0+. I have seen lots of instructions and threads but I just can't seem to make it work. The script I'm using is the RC10 script and I can only achieve 50% supercharged. I can't get the launchers (die-hard/hard-to-kill/etc.) to install, and I believe it's because I can't install the modified service.jar file it's talking about. I have used this script in the previous ROMs I use and I believe it's a great way of increasing the overall performance of the Nook Color.
Also, do you guys have any specific 'settings' that you change to make the Nook Color faster/more responsive by any chance? Governors? Memory settings? Apps that change some values that makes it better?
I hope, if anyone can and have some free time, please share your experiences.
Thanks in advance!

Pimp my ROM might help a little.
There is a windows program for v6 supercharger that worked for me. It's in the v6 thread.

I think you're referring to "apg". I tried that but it didn't work for me before. I guess I'd just keep trying that.

I tried this too, and noticed a great deal of lag went away. :good:
I'm eagerly waiting for Nook Tweaks 2 or something for CM10 +.

[Q] Most stable and fastest ROM (at the end of Dec 2012) -- is...?

Dear everyone here,
I'm a newbie and bit of a n00b here.
My goal: I have Nook Color and want to put a stable ROM on it. It would be great if it can be stable, fast and Jelly Bean (CM10)!
I know the last official stable CM ROM is 7.2, Gingerbread. Didn't try it on Nook, yet.
I was following this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1941247 and tried CM10 nighty (ver. 11. Dec 2012). This was my first Nook Color ROM ever. Everything I've tried was ok, but it's very slow and I can't really use it. Are there any ROMs that are faster, with no leg?
So, please guys, who have tried different ROMs, please suggest me a good working (stable) and fast (no lag). CM10 would be great, if not please feel free to suggest (with a link provided).
Otherwise, I would try CM 7.2, which is a "phone" OS, not that suitable for tablets.
Thanks a lot!
you have to remember that the hardware you have only has a stock, single core 800mhz processor. you wont get any smoother than the latest nightly. i suggest that you do a clean flash of the latest nightly and then go to settings>performance>processor and set your cpu governor to performance and set the max frequency to 1100mhz
you have to remember that this is hardware from late 2010, two year old hardware, it performes well, but it cant compete with the nexus devices.

Hello and thanks for your kind reply!
I've done what you suggested: CPU was already set to 1GHz in CM10, I've set it to 1100MHz and changed "on demand" to "performance". Not faster. Or not fast enough. I din't download another CM10 nightly since the one I'm using is just 3 days old.
I'm fully aware Nook Color is outdated in today's fast digital world. However, I'm disappointed it can't go any smoother since this is really to slow and even frustrating (waiting, click, waiting). What's the point of using CM10 if one can not really use it? CM10 nightly's general respond to basic operations (menus, settings) has a lag. Do the others report the same? What with the other CM10 ROMs, like Paranoid Android?
Would it be much better if I would switch to CM7.2 instead of CM10?
I also have ZTE Blade 2010. phone (600MHz stock single core CPU, OC to 800MHz) that works great on CM 7.2. Smooth and stable.
Once again, I didn't try CM7.2 for Nook Color, maybe it would work just as smooth as on Blade.
For the record, Blade and Nook Color almost have the same AnTuTu bench score (Nook is a bit better).
Please note I was using (testing) simple apps on Nook (not games or anything "heavy"):
- Opera Mini browser, News reading apps, ES File Explorer, etc -- works fine.
- Google Maps also works okay, no lag.
- YouTube is slow, it takes ages to swap from portrait to landscape when Nook is rotated. When finally starts playing it goes smooth even in HD.
- Chrome is a killer! Takes ages to load and is not usable.
All these apps, besides Chrome (requires Android 4) work just fine on my ancient ZTE Blade! :good:
I ask all of this since I saw posts on XDA regarding ICS and JB on NC saying "I'm totally thrilled with this version. Haven't had a bug at all, bluetooth functionality is flawless, and it's even faster than the stock software." I'd like the same!
Any hints now? Again, thanks a lot!
The fastest and smoothest ROM you'll find right now for your nook is going to be (mirage cm7.2).

Especially if it is installed on the EMMC, and not running off of an SD Card.
My NC CM10 ROM is installed on EEMC, not SD. Should I forget about speed and smoothness on ANY CM9 and CM10 and go back to a phone OS on a tablet, CM7.2, as suggested?
Should I consider ICS instead JB hoping to get a better result? CM9 instead of CM10?

I would forget about cm9, and cm10 is still in the works(but making progress). So if your looking for the most stable and smooth ROM, I would go with MiRaGe cm7.2, at least until cm10 has got a stable ROM. Those guys have tweeked that mirage ROM to the point of perfection.lol

Thank you very much! I'll do that.

Just try the various ones and see what suits your needs the best. Everyone has differing opinions of the various ROMs based on their particular hardware, setups, expectations, experience and the particular apps used.
Only you can decide. It is easy to give them all a try. CM10 and Paranoid Android will perform similarly since PA is based on CM10.. so you don;t have to try both to get a performance feel.
This was in the CM 10 general thread:

Thanks to several people on these forums I now have the Nook color running CM10 fairly responsively, to the point where it doesn't feel all that different to the Nexus7. Huge kudos to the devs on that!
I hope these steps can help others get theirs in the same state. I am using EMMC boot. YMMV so do a backup first.
Firstly, I was having trouble with FC and really bad performance, I traced the issue to something installed on the SDcard (didn't happen if booting with SDcard removed), so I wiped the SDcard, problem fixed.
When installing via clockworkmod (3.2.0.1), I wiped data (aka factory reset), wiped cache partition, (under advanced) wiped dalvik cache. I did not do fix permissions but some suggest that also helped them, pretty sure you need to do that after install though and I've not gotten around to a reboot yet)
1. Settings->performance->interactive
This seems to be the biggest improvement overall. I am wildly speculating that the nook is too laggy at adjusting clock speed in 'on demand' and that is where a fair bit of the sluggishness comes from. I did run with 'Performance' for a while and that is better, and interstingly I didn't find the battery life too bad at all really, so that could be an option for some (I do turn off wifi when not using and that helps heaps with battery).
2. Settings->Performance->I/O scheduler->BFQ (YMMV but worth playing with)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22134559&postcount=4
3. System Tuner app from the Play store https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ccc71.pmw
Tweaks->Sysctl->Recommended
OOM (scroll right past memory top line)->Presets->aggressive
I'm on the Nov13 build atm, not feeling like I need to try any later nightly but I might for interest.

It makes the nook run much faster and it has a much better user interface than CM 7
Also run the unofficial build that has a few tweaks that make the nook seem faster with GPU intensive tasks.
i still think the cm10 rom, while experimental, is still the best rom, cm7.2 is old software, it was good at the time, but android4. and 4.1 have alot of enhancements as far as speed, but try 7.2 and compare it. the only person that can tell you what the best rom is, is you.

Thank you, as always!
CM10 might be the best ROM on the paper, due to JB's enchantments over GB. However, this particular CM10 is just slow on NC. Basic use, like navigating through system options, settings, menus -- has a lag (w/o any apps). All the time, every time. I must say I didn't try last power settings your recommended on the previous page, since I gave a try to CM 7.2 (Mirage).
CM 7.2 makes NC responsive and fast. (It won't play HD videos in YouTube, only "normal", that's the only thing I noticed so far.)
Regarding CM10, I can give it a try once again if/when becomes faster. Do you think the power settings you gave me most recently would really boost it? I can flash it again. Or CM9 (ICS), I'm following that one as well. Until then, I don't think it's the matter of choice. After all, we all have the same HW here (even though two versions of NC have some differences, but not in speed).
Lastly, I'm a newbie and I can be very wrong.
I have tested all of them, also various nightlies. And although CM10 looks prettier and have better "menu" options (no need to mount sd card when connecting to PC for example), 7.2 is still the fastest rom on Nook Color.

The power settings definitely make a difference.. whether they would make it better for your use is something nly you can decide. Try them.

Thanks for your reply! Great you've tested more ROMs so you're experienced with different versions, their benefits and problems.
Right now, I'm on CM 7.2 (Mirage) and like it, fast and smooth enough.
- What do you think about HoneyComb (Android 3) for Nook? If not, than only HC theme would be enough.
- Have you tried power options settings regarding CM10, discussed in this thread?
- What other ROMs except CM 7.2 (Mirage) are worth of exploring? CM9 nightly?
- How about making a dual boot, so I would have a working CM 7.2 on one, and experimental ROMs on second boot (CM9, CM10). Is that safe? Should I be aware of possible issues? I've never done this, but I saw a thread on that here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17834691
Thanks a lot!
Also give v6 Supercharger a try for all ROMs. And, SD Speed Increase with a 2048 heap if you are on 7.2.

there were some tweaks in the thread (don't ask I cannot remember where...) that helped make CM10 very usable. Before that I was using MC-ROM...
For me it is a toss-up: either CM10-12/17/12 nightlie or stock B&N 1.4.3, rooted with ManualNooter 5.8.20.
I believe stock/MN is much faster and more reliable.
CM10 is feature rich, slighly slower, and the mail app is far better than stock B&N.
Hey, do both on emmc.
Install MN by following the instructions in the OP here.
Setup your NC for dual boot by following the instructions here.
And Install CM10 12/17/12 and the correct Gapps.
Personally, my NC has stock B&N 1.4.3 rooted with ManualNooter 5.8.20 on the alternate emmc partition and CM 10-nightlie 12/17/12 on primary. Then I can share the uSD card for data.
