Froyo now in beta testing

Just what the title says - a few days ago, Froyo was put into beta testing for the Epic 4G. The photo is cropped as to not get anyone into trouble. I just thought it might be nice to know that it's getting closer!
Since I'm new (not very many posts - I tend to just search & read), I can't post a full link, so you'll have to copy & paste. Sorry!

Looks pretty much identical to my epics "about phone" but it wouldn't be hard to falsify so I'll reserve my opinion till there's more to go on

Not shocked. I've heard dates from anywhere from about 2 weeks to late december, so its likely testing is going on.

Tough crowd. How is it spam? I have an Epic, it has Froyo on it. I just don't want to get my Sprint contact in trouble. What do you want to know?

I wanna see you put it up for all of us to test instead of rubbing it in our faces, and say you are beta testing Froyo.

If you'll let me know how to, I will. Will a nandroid backup do, or do I need to do something else? Will a nandroid backup put any identifiable information out that might endanger my Sprint contact (ESN, phone number, etc)?

Hm, I spoke too soon. I should have figured that the update would have overridden the ClockworkMod, and I can't reinstall it because I don't have root access.

You can dump it using Odin3. Please, and no the dumps dont contain any information like esn or msn

Oh Im pretty sure it would, just that HE wont post it.

So, for now I'll ignore the guy who's being an ass, and see what I can do. Is there a good app I can backup my current config so I can do a factory reset before I use Odin? I'm used to using nandroid and Titanium, but I'm hosed without root.

So yea, only 1 guy ANYWHERE has a beta of Froyo. Cmon, sounds like the boy who cried wolf. Besides, it wouldve been leaked already. Anyone remember the Moment leak? Hero leak? Evo leak? Prove it.

Idk how well it would work for you, but MyBackupPro is nice, for me at least. You can use it while not rooted, but some features are only available in root, like app market data. Its not free, but its pretty cheap, and you can refund it if you don't like it. Trying to help

odin would be your best bet to dump full nand, if im not mistaken you should be able to use rendbend_ua and flash clockwork back on it tho...

New, made me lol glitch

So today, i decided to update my camera firmware. When i clicked update, it took me to samsung apps, which needed an update. So i wait for that to get done, then have to exit samsung apps and in the camera check for update again. It loads samsung apps and downloads the camera update. So i go to the apps drawer, click on Camere Firmware to install it, and this pops up on the screen:

I remember seeing bad engrish when doing an update check as well. I just tried it again and when I press Check Version by Network, I get a popup advising me that "It willoccur additional fee. Will you continue?"

just thought id let anyone know

once youre atrix is rooted, i found that flashtool can load app&games on the atrix and can clean if you know for sure what you want to remove works fine for me

i have re-read this post 4 times....i still dont understand what you typed

flashtool works to load apps and games on youre atrix, it also works to remove apps you dont want, i dont know about reinstalling the apps because i know which ones i want gone so i havent tried to install a app with flashtool i removed with flashtool

im not a newb. im just no good at explaining things i have rooted and put custom roms and fully tweaked 4 differnt phones samsung captivate, motorola atrix, sony xperia, and the samsung vibrant

That's the flashtool from the x10 forums. I have used it for the x10. But interesting news that it can be used for ATRIX in some ways too. The OP is from x10 forums. I saw him around a bit. Good find leo.

Thread closed, this won't lead to nothing.

Why?!

Trying to root the Atrix with the SuperOneClick program on a PC (Win7 Ultimate 64 bit, all drivers installed and working) and it repeatedly hangs at "running psneuter" with no obvious reason why. Anyone else have this problem?
Any help greatly appreciated! Thanks.

They are a place to ask question, but they are also meant for people to find answers on their own.
If you look at the top of the forum you are searching, you will see Swift's N00B guide, a beginners how to. Right below that stuck thread is a HOW TO 1 CLICK ROOT thread. Here's a screenshot JIC you don't believe me.

remember the first time you do this you have to stay on the wifi screen for at least 1 hour for it to work.
once you have bypassed this once you never have to wait on subsequent reboots and all your settings and history are saved.

Some people forget about this security feature and factory reset their phones from recovery without turning off FRP. I have it turned off all the time to avoid me making the same mistake.

Correct but I believe there is a 3 day wait until you can log back in.
However, a lot of the time people buy second hand phones and the seller has not signed out, making this the only remaining option.
This literally makes it pointless to have this security as it can be bypassed anyway, this is why I don't bother having it on in the first place.

Ah, I see. I would just wait instead of having to use this hacky workaround that barely works but some might need to be able to be contacted 24/7.
That's why you always, always, ALWAYS go through the phone when buying it off Craigslist or something.
