Hey guys just wanted to get everyone's feedback on the streak. After having it for a full week now it seems like the home screens are laggy now. Jumping from apps to apps can be slow too. Can I wxpect 2.1 or the updated 2.2 to be this laggy again?
Is the flashed 2.2 laggy at all? I dont want to flash a rom yet since rumor it might come by the 15th. I hope and pray.. I dont have too many apps but this lag is killing me softly. Had iphone 4 before and obviously that will always be a smooth UI then had my captivate with flashed rom on 2.2 and that was pretty responsive...
Anything else I can do on 1.6 to help?

I run an app called system panel.. And I run it when my 1.6 gets laggy. You can controle the working processes with it and stop the ones who take up to much memory or processing power.

My friend had the same strange issue and I believe it was caused by some app he downloaded. All we did to fix this was just reflash to 1.1.1 (now it would be also wise to flash to widely known Dj Steve's 1.2) It's easy and your Streak will work WAY faster.
personally, the 1.6 is a smidgeon laggy, but the 2.x versions are not.
i'd just be patient for 3-4 weeks and wait till the official 2.2 comes out.
Flashing to a XDA-ROM is tricky and troublesome and usually recommended to hardcore gizmo fiddlers.
I can't speak for everybody, but for all those I know owning a Dell Streak have the same problem as you do. We all hope the official Froyo will fix the problem, but it kind of late. I am about 6 months away from my upgrade date. This will be my last Dell. Hope some other will make phone with this size of screen.
When mine gets that way I power it off and back on. This is because I don't know where to find a "reset" app like I had with my Windoze mobile phone. Does one exist for Android 1.6?
I currently use an app called "Fast Reboot" off the market, and it literally just shuts most of the running processes down and boots everything up again. It takes a couple of seconds but it's a hell of a lot quicker than actually rebooting the phone, only for it to take 5-10 mins to start up again. I've not had any major problems using this app but it does have an affect on some widgets like the Battery Smart (android) widget which freezes and no longer shows you how much battery you've got left, but removing and adding it again works fine. Though every so often, I still like to do a proper reboot just in case.
Just wondering if its just my tab or just the tab in general, this thing is always freezing n just runs like its a frigin g1, slow! I have the sprint version, anyone else have the same probs?

sory to tell dude it's your tab, i gave up my ihone4 & ipad for my tab. it's one of the best devise i ever had, maybe omething is wrong with your tab take it back get an other one.
Got a Tab last night, and even after flashing to the latest ROM it is rather unreliable in terms of performance and lag. I've already experienced several complete lock ups which is more than my Desire has had in 6 months.
So I will be returning mine for a refund tomorrow. Think I'll wait for the v2 with 2.3 or Honeycomb.
Got mine loaded to the gills, and it zips along just fine, not a single lockup.
So there's no way to fix this? I can't take it back cause it wasn't brought new, I did a reset n started all over with it tho but I have these probs... I'm guess the stupid sprint activation thing has somethin to do with it but I can't get rid of it untill I root my device... there's gotta be a reason this thing is messed up?!

I sat in a sprint store playing with their tab for about an hour. I was blown away with the speed of it. If you are not finding the Tab peppy I would look into bringing it back.
I would also say that the sprint tab i was using was a much better experience than the ATT one I bought. I kept saying to myself something is not right here. Then I flashed it and all is good.
Mine was suffering from bad browser lag until I flashed it. I don't have a Sprint Tab though. Mine is T-Mobile. I'm running Roto-JMC. It's very smooth now!!!!
Hmm
i just watced a lagg fixed galaxy s phone on youtube run super super fast.
he said it was about 2700 quadrant score ( iknow its not a good method) i dont even get half of that and my tab is so much slower.
I am keeping it though i really cant see this not getting to the galaxy s smoothness level sometime within the next months, whats your thoughts? will it get as smooth, i mean why would it not? i cant even use flash in any of the browsers except youtube mobile, and i the old desire running hd flash!
it should be able to be soo much smoother with future firmware updates or hacks?
btw. Kindle app on this is like the best e reader ever! if u dont mind only 10 hour batterylife.
I have the Sprint version full stock, and I have no freezing or lagging.
Just a long shot here, but on my Evo I was having some lock-ups out of the blue, and when I finally connected it to my PC via USB, it told me that the SD card had errors. Ran scandisk, fixed the errors, and then everything was back to normal.
i have verizon version and its blazing FAST! however it did reboot a couple of times on me but i am sure its an app i have downloaded not the tab

My Tab runs fantastic. I also have a lag fixed SGS. A lag fix switches from Samsung's proprietary file system to an ext4 file system and therefore will not help general performance, it will namely help loading apps for the first time and saving. After that, you will not be able to see an improvement. This is also why lag fix methods increase the quadrant score.
If you are seeing ANY speed issues with the Tab, you should return it. If you bought it used, you should have got some kind of guarantee... they probably sold it because it was running slowly.
You guys really have to look at the software youre running on your tabs. Mine is running flawlessly and has been almost from day one.
Start by removing bloatware and unnecessary services. Flash to the latest supported firmware using Kies. Use firefox and Dolphin mini as your browsers. Turn on airplane mode + wifi to save battery. Look into a replacement launcher like adw ex or launcherpro. Get no lock to remove the lockscreen. Etc.
Android is all about user imput - if you dont customise it you will never feel its benefits over an ipad!
It's a good idea to try different task managers like the one in ASTRO i.e. and try to catch the faulty one. I found some issues in using the yahoo mail client.
Mean the faulty process that uses much processor time, in above post.
Hmm it is not like i havent done all of the above it is still not as smooth as a galaxy s phone. I really think there is some firmware difference since all danish tabs i have tryed run like this. Tryed 4 my own encluding. In Denmark people are selling tabs allover the place since many regular customers are disappointed. Got mine half price so i am still quiet content but it does lagg and with newest official firmware jj3 via kies. Flash in any browser except youtube mobile is not usable

My Tab is faster than my Galaxy S, has been from day one. My Galaxy S isn't slow, it's running a very fast Froyo rom. My Galaxy S phone is the fastest phone I've ever seen, but it's still not as fast as my Tab.
I haven't rooted my Tab or uninstalled any bloatware or disabled any services. If the Tab were laggy, I would have done all of those things. I haven't because I don't like to mess with what works.
My guess would be that your carrier has something installed that is slowing it down. I can't imagine what, I have tons installed and nothing has ever slowed it down.
That said, Don't use the stock browser, it can be laggy, especially on Flash heavy sites. Try the Miren browser and set Flash to "on demand".
Weird how some people have problems and some dont, I have the Epic also and it flys! But this damn tab is horrible and I too experience the browser lag, restarts, freezing, u name it! I saw that someone did mention they had alot of problems till they rooted and flashed it so if you could be so kindly to share info on what exactly you did it would be appreciated, especially cause others that have flashed didnt have the same outcome... If it dont work for me then its goin on ebay cus as of now this thing is just a paperweight...
T mobile flashed with a phone running fine .only some glithes from the wifi .only because my router is a bit far from me but otherwith running fine
i have instaled many app and many widget and its ok so far its only hungree for battery power
fine gadget and phone is defenetly a big plus

My Tab flies with no freezing... Rooted with z4 and use oclf. If i get lag in the Dolphin browser I try this trick I discovered on xda: Hold the power button to get the power off menu, then press the back button to exit that menu. Thats it. Browser will increase in speed and fluidity!

Answer to your first question:
Lag is only happening to your tab or your specific region (tab).
Solution:
Right here
Read through it quickly, bottom contains all the right info for you to flash your tab and get off of that HORRID stock firmware.
I am generally new to the Android community (5 months with the Eris) but am good with technology and the like. I bought an Eris off ebay to replace my ailing BB Tour and have really enjoyed the OS overall. The hardware, on the other hand, has been a little troublesome. The phone is rooted and I have loaded several custom ROM's (mostly because I am never completely satisfied) and each one has had the same problem, which tells me that is has nothing to do with the ROM's. I have tried KF, 2 different Tazz, XTRsense, KG, and currently using Froshedyo Vanilla. My problem is that after wiping and doing a new install the phone works great. After about 2 weeks it starts lagging BAD. I have tried several autokillers and also tried without and I always get the same result. With the lag comes FC's with almost everything (facebook, launcher, etc) and pretty much becomes unuseable. The only thing that fixes it is a complete wipe and reload. I just don't want to have to do that every 1 1/2 to 2 weeks. Does anyone have any suggestions? My NE2 is mid March and while I like the Android experience the phone itself is making look at the iPhone as a real good alternative. I know the pros and cons of that but in my area I'm not sure 4g is coming soon so that is one issue I am not worried about. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried wiping just the cache instead of doing a data-wipe so you don't have to reload everything? Do you use alot of apps? Do you have alot of text messages on your phone...try deleting them when they get old. I always found keeping my eris "clean" by removing the old stuff and clearing the cache occasionally helped me avoid the lag after a while. Sometimes you got to think of it as a small pc rather then a phone.
Yeah, I have done just a data wipe before and it helps for maybe a day or two. I don't keep a huge amount of apps loaded because I don't like clutter and I'm not a huge texter either. When I was using an auto killer I didn't ever really not that I ran lower on RAM when I was having lag. Sometimes I would have 65 MB free and the pho

Phone will still be nearly unresponsive. For awhile I though I had it clocked to high (710) so I put it to stock but that didn't help. It actually locked up a minute ago hence the broken post....

i use "autokiller memory optimizer" since it just changes the settings on the built in task killer. I set the preset to strict. i also use "cachemate" which you can set to clear the cache daily. hope it helps. fyi, please post questions in the q&a section in the future. thanks!
Strange as this may sound, what I found was that if I do a *228 -> 1, followed after the reboot, with another *228 -> 2, things cleared up tremendously. I also discovered that there are some market apps that show up as protected when installed when viewed by some app managers....I am now avoiding them. my phone now feels much more responsive, much less sluggish. and while I cannot say for sure, I think advanced task killer was causing some of my lagging issues. I use autokiller for now, and I will say this, I'm becoming much less comfortable with task managers, something just does not feel quite right about them in this OS. Clearing the cache as stated above also helps.
oh, and the comment about treat this like a computer.....humm, this IS a computer, its the smallest computer I own, so like a computer, get a CPU monitor and make sure your idle time is REALLY idling, you do not need to three or four of these things like I was playing with....I found Temp+CPU v2 in the market and it does exactly what I need it to do. a phone doing nothing should actually be doing nothing, make sure it is.
share with the world what your Gingerbread experience has been like on the DX.
So far I can't complain at all. I even like the new blur. I'm getting consistent 1800s on Quadrant Standard and my battery is down to 50% after 14hrs (extended batt)
i don't think i'll switch from this for any ROM
Same here! I really hated blur on the original rom and this is night and day better. I too have the extended battery and 24-48 hours is no problem if I limit my browser time etc. I have been on one custom rom or another since day two of owning my X and now I have to give motorola props on a rom I really enjoy. Just as fast as any custom I ran without any sacrifice of hdmi, dialer, universal inbox etc. Very happy with the current rooted stock setup. However I have seen the previews of what P3 is cooking up for the new tranquility rom and I will be giving that a go the moment it lands.
Data issues
After flashing GB, wireless tether would not work consistently. Also, my streaming apps (ESPN, Pandora) didn't want to play. ESPN would just say connecting for about 1 minute. Sometimes it would connect, other times it would just stay on "connecting". Also, web browsing would regularly redirect me to a Verizon page that asked me to sign up for mobile data. It was as if Verizon didn't recognize my data plan. After a few reboots, everything would work again, but after a few hours the same problems returned.
I had to SBF/Nandroid restore to 2.2 & everything is back to working properly.
I did love the new GB blur. My overall speed "felt" about the same as froyo. I would have stayed on GB if not for the data issues.
Just my 2 cents.
yeah i had issues with wireless tethering myself. i tested it even with the lastest alpha release for gb but still ended up pretty much losing connectivity with Verizon's 3g. even after i uninstalled its stock 3g hotspot app, since it automatically started running along w/ the rooted wifi tether version, the problem didn't go away.
as for the rest of the ROM, the quardrant score is very nice and i like the new pin-pointing text and its selecting text feature. also, the overall speed in browser seems faster. however, there's still way too much crap running due to blur and i don't like using most of the blur features. wish i could uninstall 90% of them. as for its looks, i'm a minimalist so the whole black gingerbread theme is awesome. personally, this new blur theme is still too tacky for me. too many random colors everywhere. but it is definitely better than the blur from 2.1.
TBH is working on AOSP gingerbread with no eta. will definitely hop onto that asap
The only thing I do not like about the new GB build is that it's a real pain trying to remove any bloat. the regular programs uninstall fine via Titanium but if I remove things like the stock email program (which I never use), then the texting app goes haywire. Other than that...loving it.
GB for me has been kicking a**.The battery life is great also.Cant wait for a nice new GB Rom.
Gb has been great for me. My only complaint is that I can't seem to remove ads no matter what I try
EDIT: I got rid of ads by using a combination of Adfree, Droid Overclock by jrummy, and absolute system
Great so far. No problem coming from rooted Apex to stock, rooted GB. Overclocked to 1.2 getting 2044 quadrants.
Got to get rid of this blue status bar. Ugly to me.
Just went through the update, and found a bug - it keeps repeating the first second of every notification sound I set. Tried multiple apps and multiple sound files from my SDcard. Same thing. Rebooted phone. Same thing.
Loving the Gingerbread layout. It works extremely fast, which I was not expecting with all of the blur. I too was in search for a quick rom, with a little blur, but im in love. Only thing I wish is that the notification bar was black or dark grey.
No gripes here. Great work to TBH. Keep up the excellent work.

No problems at all. I did however had a little scare with the wifi tether app. tried running it and it made the stock hotspot run along with it. when i tried accessing the browser, it took me straight to the verizon hotspot subscription site, and every site i tried visiting thereafter would redirect me back to verizon site. based on the what i've been reading from P3droid, I almost soiled myself. Uninstalled wifi tether and rebooted and I was back to normal.....

The stock hotspot app always did that. No need to soil yourself.
Been more stable than Froyo. I haven't had the random reboots and I'm running overclocked at 1300.
I have to say that I had a bumpy start with the GB leak - SBF'ing back down, reloading, wiping, reloading, wiping, re-... you get the idea. And when it was all said and done, my Exchange Push would not work.
Truth be told, it wasn't working on the 5 other phones my co-worker had stacked on his desk for configuration and delivery. Luckily, I was able to resolve that issue on the server-side of the world, and everything has been gingery and bready ever since.
Things I have noticed:
The battery life is phenomenal. MUCH better than what I was getting on a tweaked Liberty 1.5.
Bloatware sucks. We all know this, but the ability to folderatize your apps removes the visual bloat, at least.
The damned thing is snappy. It seems faster to load after a battery pull, the apps seem snappier, and the only lag I have seen...
...is when I'm typing. Now and then when I'm typing a text or email, it feels like it can lag behind me every now and then. This is not a constant thing and it's likely because I have a lot of apps open (honestly, I haven't checked and that's just a guess).
Overall, it makes certain parts of me turgid with happiness.
GB is what this phone was meant to have. Its quicker, more logical, and has very few bugs.

Use the alpha 1.2
So Gingerbread has been great for me so far. Fast, extremely improved batter life (can go almost 2 days with heavy used now) I love the old tube tv turn off animation. and its over all much more stable no random crashing or freezing from apps. But I have one gripe and I can't seem to find this anywhere else. But I can't seem to install most non-market apps. I click on install and the button won't highlight or do anything i can only hit cancel. The only few I've had success with are titanium backup and juice defender beta 3.4.4 Anyone else having this issue?
When playing Texas Holdem mainly, dowloading, multi tasking, or gamaing it just flashes all three lights and reboots. I do not know if its my 32 gb sd card but I have tried normal 16 gb sd stock and does the same thing. Its really weird because sometimes it seams like it will be trucking right along for a little bit and then BAM reboot. I have read some things like voltage problems, overheating, and possible kernel issues ... All I know is that when I hit 450 million on Texas Holdem I really do not want a random reboot erasing my chip count.
I am currently running 15609 build 351 with latest non beta clockword recovery ... Was originally bought from dell under locked AT&T 1.6 ... I used qdl tool to convert everything automatically to 2.2 then do dell factory reset to 2.2.2 then flash clockword recovery and superuser ...
When doing normal everyday tasks it never reboots even by itself. Like right now not a problem. But if I get into the phone and use it like it should be its going to reboot sooner or later.

I had a similar issue.
My 1st streak was doing this, no matter what rom I was running (seemed to be triggered by wifi events) I was researching the issue and found there have been a few streaks that have either had reboot issues caused by battery cover problems & others that may be "just plain defective". I suspect mine was in the "Just plain defective" group. I had it replaced and no further issues (I am really careful about the battery cover just to be safe) I was less than 3 weeks after purchase so I had Best Buy replace it on the spot. since it has known issues they did not have a problem replacing it.
Cheers
BR

I have over a million in Texas Holdem and we are going strong with not one random boot with the exact same set up ... Will be sending that other streak back per warranty ... I am loving this! if you go into data/tombstones you will find crash logs, read through those and you can see whats causing the issue.
