So where is this alleged "movies" tab in my market? I have the videos app, the new market on my incredible (complete with movies section), but no movies tab in the market on my TF?? Is there any way to force-update the market to where it has the movies tab? Or do I have to be patient and wait for an OTA? Thanks in advance

I think that will be available in 3.2. My Xoom is running 3.2 and the movies tab is there in the Market with Apps and Books. Just Apps and Books on my TF running 3.1 build 8.4.4.11... Maybe this week... Cross your fingers...

I hope so
Maybe not though. I think there is some concern over DRM and such so right now its a Xoom exclusive in Honeycomb, I think the new market is only scheduled to get it for Gingerbread devices.

The movies are expensive anyway from the Market. $4.99 for HD and nothing under $1.99 that I can see... The majority of the movies are $2.99 and $3.99...

I found that I can just go to the Market in the Browser and see the movies from there... when you rent them they show up in your 'My Rentals' Section I believe.
NOTE: I haven't actually rented one.
UPDATE:
Also from the Videos app you can click on 'Shop' in the top right of the screen and it takes you to the browser market movie section.
I have the Movies on my Nexus S, but not on my Transformer and I was hoping to actually watch some movies on it, but I was wondering.. you can't buy movies in the Market right? Only rent them?

Yeah I think so. At the prices I listed above those are rentals and I'm not sure how long the duration is. Has anyone rented one? I can rent one later if it helps our members out to get an answer...

I have rented two movies and the rental period is 24 hours from the tme you start a movie. Meaning you can rent the movie anytime but the clock doesn't start until you start the movie. There is an option to download the movie so you can watch when you don't have connectivity which I tried but after 30 minutes the movie was still about 50% complete on the download and I got tired of waiting. It may not be too cost efficient and but I like the idea of watching a movie anywhere in I go.
Could I rent movies from my rooted dinc? I heard that you couldn't do it from a rooted device a while back when movies first came out

Great info Rich, thank you!
Has anyone ordered a movie and tried to output it on a TV via HDMI? I only get sound but no picture. Do they restrict the picture on the HDMI out when renting a movie?
I dont believe it is dependent on 3.2. I am only running 3.1 and it showed up on my TF last week. I just received a new TOS from google marketplace that I accepted and then there was the new Movies Tab, just to the right of APP and Books.

The new tab didn't show up until I updated to 3.2. So I'm not sure if it's a Market OTA or an Android OTA. But either way, I got the Movies tab

I have literally over 500$ worth of videos on iTunes. I am trying to find a way to be able to play them back on the Xoom. Seems DoubleTwist won't copy over DRM files. Is there any program for free/purchase that can do this? I don't want to have to buy a iPod Touch just to watch iTunes on the go.
The only way to do it would be to remove the DRM...which for itunes videos I believe can only be done using a special program on a Mac...
Apple looses again.
Never buy DRM. Apple has successfully locked you in to always using apple software just because you paid so much for content.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
You just need to search around on the net, there are some programs that can do it with a PC. You can either purchase some, or there is one free one called requiem that you can use, but it only works on specific versions of itunes. Its a java based program and can strip the drm off a 2 hour movie in about 10 mintues.
I'm honestly surprised you didn't go for an iPad first. It just seems like you are someone that would have...
I've just swapped from an ipad to the xoom & transferred my music videos straight from the iTunes library on my PC to the video folder of the xoom & they all play straight away. I tried to copy a movie over but couldn't get that to play though. Don't know if it makes any difference but are they stored in the correct folder?

The only "purchased" content that I have in my iTunes library are digital copies of blurays that I own anyway. I d/l my music from MP3VA ($.15 per song) or rip them from my CDs since I would NEVER EVER pay $.99 for one song or $9.99 for a digital video file.

Hey, you're not the only one. I have an iPhone 4 and Mac Mini as well. Actually, I'm still not great with OS X but, doing the ADB commands through it is easier I think. It's more Linuxy/Unixy... Just like in the Xoom itself.
I wonder if I have any DRM videos... I got them off iTunes but they were free.

you can use requiem for removing the DRM. It's worked great for me every time. There is a (TOR) onion link to get it if you google for it.
Has anyone heard when the GT10.1 might be getting Netflix? Or Google Movies?
I love this tablet, but I don't like the lack of optimized tablet apps and the missing Netflix. I'm debating whether to hold onto this tablet and wait because I really do love the look and feel of the tablet and of Honeycomb or if I want to return it for an iPad 2 and come back to an Android tablet in a couple months (or a year) when there are more apps. So...that's why I'm curious about Netflix.

I've tested it and can verify that it does not work on the Transformer also. The app installs, you can open the app, log in to your account, browse movies even, but no video playback; it gives an error.

Does anyone know what that error means? As that something on the device causing it or is it Netflix reading that its not a approved device and throwing an error

Not sure who told you it works on Xoom but I own a Xoom and Netflix doesn't even show up in the Market so I can tell you it DOES NOT work on a stock Xoom runnng Android 3.2. I'm sure it works on a hacked ROM but it will even run on a hacked Viewsonic GTablet...

Unlikely. More likely they're returning us to the status quo by putting out an update to remove the (didn't really work anyway) support for the Transformer (and maybe other models).
So just an FYI, I checked my Market on my Viewsonic GTab and Netflix is there! I downloaded it and I am watching movies right now streaming from Netflix! OMG, the GTab is Android Froyo 2.2! It is a Tegra2 chip but I would never have figured it would work on this legacy tablet before my latest and greatest Transformer and Xoom. LOL
Wow...

Goes to show that Netflix is just screwing around. If they would "allow" the Transformer to work.. it would work.
I'm in no rush. Netflix is pissing me off lately. First their crazy price hikes and now they're playing God to which devices can access their services.
Screw 'em.

Just read the same post... YES!!! Finally! ...the earlier apk for rooted TF101s with patch was awesome for sure, but it's great we're finally getting some official love (and support).
Yes, I also own a Xoom running 3.2 and you can sideload the Netflix app on it and it works fine. I am waiting for it to show up in the Market though so I can get the automatic Netflix updates as opposed to the sideloaded version that you must manually update. Hopefully, the TF will get this working in 3.2... Keeping my fingers crossed...

That requires root and the installation of a patch. I have no time for such things (including messing around with unrooting when then next TF update comes), and so having an official Netflix app will be most welcome.
http://eee.asus.com/en/eeepad/transformer/specification
Theyre claiming Netflix(us only) on their site, so possibly after 3.2
Keeping my fingers crossed. I've held out on rooting this far. Love my transformer and honestly can live without netflix on it, but it would surely be a plus to have it added.

For me it adds an extra component to the transformer that other tablets already have. At this point android is playing catchup to Ipad. (well..everyone is)
They all are, but android has a good chance to get there, but they need to add what competitors offer and then add their own extra spice.
Personally, i have netflix enabled in all my tvs at home, but would love to have it on my TF for road trips. If i stay on a hotel, tether off the phone in the car..it just adds more thrills to an already good device.
