some help... cant update cm7 - Blade General

hi, to be quick, i have cm7.00 stable on my zte. but i cant upgraDE to the newer cm7 stable or nighlties. it keeps freezing on the android logo, and wont boot. i cleared data etc,
i have to go back to the old cm7..
any ideas? i think mine is gen1.
cheers.

I guess it is Gen 1.
So you can't access recovery? Try flash it again via Fasboot. http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Fastboot

CM 7.0 is only for Gen 1 phones. You first need to convert your phone to Gen 2.
1. Use Mr Pigfish app to find out exactly what version your phone is.
2. Please read here for detailed descriptions on how to do that
Please, read everything carefully.
- Don't brick your phone.
Cheers

Could i get help :3? (new blade userrr)

EDIT!!! I USED http://android.modaco.com/content/z...m-7-0-2stable-nxx-tpt-image-for-easy-install/ It was SO easy! even i did understand it!
It flashes a recovery, makes new partitions=gen2 if i'm right
so you get cwm/cm7/gen2/more space and much more by doing what said there!!
Its epic.
For example did the phone have a hard time running stuff before (fruit ninja and games like)
so after you have installed cm7 go to settings/cyanogenmodsettings/performance/cpu
and set the new clock speed to 710mhz since it makes everything faster and games run perfectly after.
it helps to turn of window animations too.
Hello people!, I'm getting an zte blade tomorrow, so i wanted to ask exactly what rooting method i need to use (I'm used to z4root)
And the link to the newest cm7, :3 i hate asking but since i don't know about this device would i like some help, i hope its alrighty,
i get it with the german BASE branding but will unlock it with help of an unlock code Generator :3
its the 5mp camera/512mb ram version i don't know if it matters but i think it does.
Please i would love some help here

I think z4Root works.
Try N85 http://goo-inside.me/cm/blade/nightly/cm_blade_full-85.zip
Before that make sure it's Gen 2 via Mr Pigfish app on the Market. Otherwise, upgrade to Gen 2 via the TPT Method on Modaco: http://android.modaco.com/content/z...m-7-0-2stable-nxx-tpt-image-for-easy-install/

If you want CM7 which does not have FM Radio Follow these instructions: http://android.modaco.com/content/z...m-7-0-2stable-nxx-tpt-image-for-easy-install/
Then do full wipe and install this via recovery: http://goo-inside.me/cm/blade/nightly/cm_blade_full-85.zip
For Froyo
Just install this via recovery: http://www.mediafire.com/?iv91d1edrd2iytj
And yes I own a Blade.

WHoa i have actually flashed 2.2 now but i really miss cm7 since i moved from a device running it.
So i heard that i can BRICK it by changing the gen.
could you tell me how in a few steps you know idiot friendly
i really don't want to brick it.
Idiot friendly instructions: http://android.modaco.com/content/z...m-7-0-2stable-nxx-tpt-image-for-easy-install/
And this method is very very reliable and hardly any chance of bricking. I didn't use it though, so I don't know about it.
I used the Windows method which is the 'brickier' method.

[Q] I'm new to the site and in need of general help

okay, as i said i'm new to the site and i've bought myself a few days back my first android phone, Samsung SGH-I5800 Galaxy 3. I have a iTouch so i'm guessing the things you do here are similar to the term "jailbreak-ing". Now if isn't hard for any of you, i'd appreciate if some you could post me some directions or post explanations on certain aspcets such as:
What is root-ing and how it's done and what does it do?
What does the term "flash/flashing" mean?
What are ROMs? (Where to download and how to install Kyrillos 5.7 ROM)
What is ODIN and how to use it?
Thank you.
Hi there,
I have my Apollo only for a week, so i'm not pro user, but i've installed my first few custom roms on my Apollo so.
Personally i don't know that many as most users arround here, only thing i know is the following:
First download Kies software from Samsung support, that wil install the neccesary drivers for your apollo.
then,
Flashing: the prucedure u do to get other/custom android software on your phone/pda
Rom: the piece of software itself, what needs to be downloaded to put on your hpone/pda
Odin: the software program you need to run to start flashing your phone.
So in the therms of XDA: You download your Rom, put it in Odin flashing software, and start flashing your phone.
i hope i'm a bit of help, before flashing, i would read some posts here in the forum, more precisely on how to flash etc, cuz there are some risks involved if you don't do it right.

1) What is Rooting?
2) How To Root
3) Installing a new ROM/Kernel into the internal memory of your device is called Flashing.
4) If you are familiar to Linux, a ROM is similar to a Distribution. They are essentially all the same, built on the same platform. And most of them are tweaked, to deliver a better performance than the stock firmware.
5) Download Link + Install Instructions for Kyrillos' ROM
6) How to use Odin?
^ thanks guys, appreciate the effort
so, if i'm not mistaken all i have to do is download Kyrillos ROM followe instruction in ODIN and that's that?

You on froyo or eclair?? You mean z4root. It doesn t take that much time. Reboot and retry.
And if you are on froyo, z4root will not work. You have to use superoneclick.
well, to be honest i don't know what is froyo nor eclair, i just know that froyo is commonly linked with 2.2 FW and eclair with 2.1. i know that when i've plugged my phone to Kies it uploaded to 2.2...
could you please link me that second program?

6.0 is still in its developmental stages.
It's yet to be released to the public!
Flash 5.5 and upgrade to 5.7 using the Update.zip for now

To OverClock your device, you need an OC Kernel. Download one of these :
1) FuguMod I5800 (froyo) v2.2 (Bleeding Edge)
2) FuguMod Ultra Pre-Realease
Now flash this as 'One Package' using Odin (the same way you flash a ROM).
Install Set CPU from Here
Open SetCPU, and move the slider upto 1300MHz (/1366MHz) and you now have an OverClocked device
thanks, i'll try it right away, just one thing...which is the safest OC setting?

800MHz is by far the most stable. But if thats what you want, flash This Kernel.
well, i'm trying to get a bit more "juice" out of my phone, i bought it exclusively so that i don't spend big bucks on the iPhone and i was thinking if 1100 or 1000 were stable enough, as i've read somewhere that on a certain ROM 1300 runs perfectly without any bugs or overheating problems...
could you now please help me configure my phone to lets say 1100Mhz and what other options should i tick as it's a bit confusing...

There are no 'options' that are to be ticked. Download one of the 2 Kernels I gave links to in my earlier post. And flash it as 'One Package' using Odin (the same way you flash a ROM). And use SetCPU to do the rest. Nothing else to be done.

Video tutorial for absolute newbies: How to Root + Upgrade + and load Custom ROM

Hey everyone I decided to make an in depth video tutorial so that no matter which version of Android you're running you can follow along until you reach the part of loading a custom ROM (in this case zdzihu's final Cyanogenmod 7).
This was made so that even the biggest noob can follow along this video tutorial if you're stuck with the X10 due to a contract why not get the most out of it?
Q: Have a an error? Got stuck?
A: Please use XDA search since I didn't do any of the developing!
Q: Why start from Android 2.1 and show every single step until finally flashing the custom ROM?
A: This was done intentionally so that no matter what version of Android you're on, if you find the video part that is like running the same version of Android as your X10 then you can follow along from there.
Q: Doesn't it seem a bit too long? I've seen shorter videos.
A: Again, this was done intentionally so that even if someone is currently on Android 1.6 or 2.1 they can follow along. I want to show people how to backup apps before losing eveything, its pretty annoying otherwise.
Q: Why bother showing every step?
A: My g/f and two friends are stuck with the X10 until their contracts allows them to hardware upgrade until next summer, I want to help other people get the most out of their phone. I don't care about donations, if this helps one person out I'm happy with that. It sucks paying tons of money for a device that is laggy and be stuck with it for years. XDA members have helped me many times, I just wanted to contribute back somehow, the more people share knowledge for free, then the world slowly becomes a better place.
In part 1:
-How to backup contacts (like I said, for newbies )
-How to install a driver for the computer
-How to root
-How to backup apps
-How to upgrade to the official Sony Gingerbread
In part 2:
-How to root Official Sony Gingerbread
-Downloading XRecovery
-Installing the Android SDK
-Installing Xrecovery
-Downloading xRecovery update
-Downloading Cyanogenmod 7 files
In part 3:
-Download Cyanogenmod 7
-Restoring apps via root method
I take no credit for any of the rooting methods, or making the cusom ROMs, this is simply a video tutorial, all necessary links are in the Youtube video description.

Hi. Very nice work! I have a question though. My phone is already running on 2.3.3. Do I disregard the first root of the phone using superoneclick? Or do I have to flash the 2.1 version and start from there?

Wow that's so much easy to follow! I have just one question.. ( i am a noob) ok I was able to get GB ported through my phone when the rollout for GB was happening so it was a flash upgrade no root.. I have app to sd card installed and moved everything i could over to sd card for the apps that i couldn't move over is there anyway to get them backed up? or do i have to flash back to 2.1 and do this process from the very beginning?
thanxx for this fantastic topic!

I no longer have an X10, I'm using a Nexus One, but with Titanium Backup I'm able to backup any app even under these conditions: app on internal memory, apps2SD and/or apps2ext (its always backed things up). It should work for the X10 as well. There is no reason to go back to 2.1 as long as you are rooted.
If you're ever in doubt download a random app from the market and back it up with Titanium Backup, uninstall the app and restore it with Titanium Backup, thats the easiest and safest way to test. *Remember your phone must be rooted to use Titanium Backup*
Ok the phone is now rooted but I have ran into another road block, first is when i try to install xrecovery from the link provided it comes up with a mass lot of letters and symbols theres no button to click install after you click it initially.. Also I'm trying to install eclipse and get the android sdk but everytime i go to install eclipse i get this message...
"The Eclipse executable launcher was unable to locate its companion shared library"
What does that mean? what have i done wrong???
Ok since the last time i posted i went through everything again i sat down and worked everything out and now i have a rooted x10 on GB and most importantly i am running CM7!! thank you soo much for the helpful tutorials! even a complete noob like me is able to complete this. I can safely say that you have helped that one noob you wanted to help.
So now that i have done setup to get to where i am now, if i wanted to change to a different rom for some reason now do i just bascially download desired rom and load it through xrecovery? so long as i have the compatable bb71?
Thanks again!

Glad to read it worked out. I no longer have an X10 (using Nexus One) but yes, you should be able to flash other roms via xRecovery, I suggest you always make a backup first. *Note I have not tried other ROMS via xRecovery, try at your own risk, please research on how to flash your desired ROM before doing so. There could be certain variables that could cause an error such as: wrong version of xRecovery, kernal issue, baseband issues, etc.* Do some research in the correct thread of your desired ROM and I'm sure someone will be able to answer, best of luck.
p.s. Sorry for the delayed response, I'm swampped with mid-terms.
That's all gotta prioritize the more important things in life, im just wondering it seems to me that cm7 drinks the juice a little more than the stock 2.3.3. I do have a thread in place to find out as to why theres mention of calibrating the battery but i'm unsure on how to do this im waiting on a response in my other thread. eventually i want to get to 2.3.7 before if and when the devs make a ics port.
But thankyou again and good luck with the exams.
thanks!!! it work perfectly
Thanks for your information

It is easy to downgrade or upgrade DS5;
Just flash the suitable recovery for your froyo rom,put your froyo rom pkg to your sd card, then install it from recovery menu.

Ok download the rom package and baseband (recovery.img) from here ROMs. Then you must flash the basebad (recovery.img) use ADB and Fastboot + Drivers guide and after that rename the rom to update.pkg and copy it to sd card and flash. Thats it.

i would suggest you to try my options, just enter fasboot, flash streakmod recovery, download any one costum rom copy to sdcard. Reboot streak enter recovery (streakmod) wipe everthing, flash rom and do double wipe via streakmod & dell recovery. your dell will work, then if you plan to downgrade will be easier. Forget about Pkg, i try my self and its hurt.

then I flashed ms2ginger from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1140839
let it boot and run to make sure alls well
and finaly flashed android 4.2.2 from here

you could probably miss the ms2ginger but I felt it was safer to do it to confirm all was well etc..
hope that helps
