Has anyone had this problem where the screen timeout stops music playing? I've got the wifi disconnect policy set to never disconnect as suggested elsewhere but it makes no difference.
The music stops and after a few seconds starts again and stops and starts and stops etc..
It happens with the Google Music player and Vplayer.
Any help would be appreciated as I want to listen to some MP3's without having to press the power button every few minutes

Have the same issue - have had it since 3.01 -- I use WinAmp, free from market, and does not seem to have this problem.

Glad to help - i wish I know of a workaround for this problem, as I like the stock music players inferface just a bit better.
Yes me too. I also have Lucid Dreamer which i want to try at night and that stops too when the screen timeouts.
I've been having the same issue. Does WinAmp give you Music Beta access? I know the stock player does, which is why I've kept it around.
Me too, with mp3 over wifi, with ever music player, the sound cut when the screen goes to sleep.
I don't find any solution, just the player "poweramp" has an option to let the screen on.
acer hc 3.1
doubletwist. Works for me on 4.010.13 no problem
doubletwist worked for me too and I like it better than winamp.

Hey guys,
If I put off my screen while a song is on the music stops too, and I think it's kind of a battery waste to let the screen on while listening to music.
Is there any way the music can keep playing while you have put off your screen with the button on top of the device?
Thanks a ton.
antrak
You can let the device turn off the screen itself.. Happens after 1 minute depending on which settings you have.. Works for me!
But i agree, irritating problem, guess there will be a fix for this!

You are not only turning off the screen but also putting the device to standby, use one multimedia player like Coreplayer or MortPlayer, both can
turn of the screen while keeping the device on.
This happened to me - I think it only happens in WM itself - the TF3D interface is fine to click the screen off - it carries on uninterrupted
Use a Headset than you can turn off the screen but the phone keeps on playing.
I just tried it and it DOES only affect WMedia itself - the TF3D music interface is fine - I haven't tried it with WMedia AND wired phones though - as has been said that may be a potential solution - I don't know because I always use BT headphones on mine
Frankly I've been using the TF3D interface far more recently, as it's MUCH easier than WMedia to create playlists on (I f..king HATE windows media TBH)
I've searched all over but im using Stock Verizon TP2 ROM, and when i play music through the phones speakers using Windows Media Player or the Touch Flo 3d music player, and C-ApiSRO - Sirius/XM Satellite Radio player, the music stops once i hit the button at the top to turn the screen off
is there anyway to keep the music playing? i know when i connect my bluetooth headset to listen to music it keeps playing when i hit the power button but is there a way to do this when listening to music through the phones speakers? My TP1 was able to do this but not the tp2 for some reason.
I've tried the Slide 2 Shutdown App which has the option for slide to turn the screen off which doesnt work, I tried a cab called SHK_Customs_Keep_Music_Playing_Registry_Fix.cab which still didnt work, and the C Apisro has a option to turn the screen off but the music still stops after like 45 seconds with the screen off. I cant figure out why the music wont keep playing. Any help out there with a fix or suggestion?
this might help abit

im trying to avoid s2u because it kills the battery on the phone
yep im not using s2u2 as i didnt like it, but in that thread someone suggested Nitrogen player, this allows you to play mp3s and kill the screen
there is an app out there called goff display where you hold the phone upside down and the screen shuts off i used it on my diamond when i had the same problem it works like a charm i will try to track down the .cab
Not sure which thread it was in or who put it together but I grabbed this the other day and works for me.
EDIT: Nevermind, see that it didn't work for the OP. Sorry.
Ask sergio76, in his two themes that he made that are in this forum he was able to keep the music playing with the screen off. He should be able to help you out.
i've found my solution with this app
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4951174&postcount=18
It worked!!!
I was having the problem that i was not able to listen to music on speaker with the screen off, but now thanks to this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4951174&postcount=18
YES! sure u have to run the little app but w/e it does the job !
Both psshutxp & shk_customs_keep_musis_playing_registry_fix worked for me but for only 10 minutes! Then windows media player would stop.
Why doesn't windows media player have the option "do not suspend power while playing"? It did with my old HTC 6800 but not my touch pro 2.
Anyone else have any suggestions? Thanks.
wish sumthing out there would do this? i like to listen to my music through my fone at work when im doing shipment, but having the screen on makes it hot and wastes battery fast, so any solutions yet?

Did you try both the cab in post #6 and the app in post #8? The cab worked for me, and still does, never had any issue after I first ran it. Some people who haven't gotten anywhere with the cab, have resolved the issue with that app..
Install TurnOffTheLight.cab found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=569473
I put it on my home screens quick links and it enables turning off the screen while playing music thru the phones onboard speaker.
Hi,
As I already mentioned I have a problem with all music players. Ive used Coreplayer on my Touch HD for a long time.
I tried the same thing on HD2, but it doesnt work, when I hit the power button the music stops nearly instant. Same thing with Pocket Player. I tried the option from former times with the blank screen. Doesnt work, the display is locked and on then.
HTC Music player/tab is also weird, cause it random stops and sometimes mess the whole HTC Sense so that it takes 30 seconds to load after stand-by. I deleted all tags from tracks but the problem persists. BUT it works in standby .
Have anyone an idea, what I can do, to simply use my HTC HD2 as a music player. I prefer to use Coreplayer in background cause its the most reliable player for music (the issues as a video player are well known on Qualcomm processors).
Thanks in advance
It seems that it is possible to blank the screen in Coreplayer but the volume rocker arent working and the button line activates the screen. Is it really not possible to use a music player like on Touch HD?
Core player Audio turns off evertime the screen does.
Same problem here - This is a nightmare!
I use Coreplayer to listen to streaming live radio stations but this is just stupid...every time the screen times out on the HD2 (ie goes dark, as i've set it to in the HTC settings) - CorePlayer (and any other streaming program) just stops playing.
I have to unlock the screen and press 'play' again and wait for it to reconnect again...every 5 minutes
I tried the Menu-Options-Blank Screen, but this just caused the same problem - it dropped connection immediately and I have to go through the whole procedure again.
Anyone come across a solution? I can't believe that you have to have the screen back light on all the time and you have to tap the screen every 2 mins to keep it awake - just to listen to the radio!!
Can confirm the problem with Coreplayer, not really a solution but you might wanna try Kinoma player, nice user interface and works in standby as well.
I have both CorePlayer 1.36 and Kinoma Play.
Kinoma Play is now far better. It's fast and the interface is smooth and clever.
It's sad to say but CorePlayer is now old-fashioned and unusable on the HD2.
Do not hesitate

There's a video on youtube where a guy is having the same problem, ill look it up for ya.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYSv7zqd744
and im fairly sure the same guy started a threadon here too, and also found a solution. start reading back through the threads, it's probably back to about page 5 or so by now.
IIRC, you go to hklm/software/htc/audiomanager and change the suspend key to 0
When I'm playing music, other music will suddenly cut in. I thought the problem was WinAmp, so I uninstalled / changed players, but the problem persists (now using UberMusic) .... any ideas???
I've checked currently running tasks and couldn't spot any suspects....
Vibrant KA6
thanks in advance.
Its probably your headphones. If there is a short in the wire your phone thinks you hit play/pause, and your samsung music player starts up. That's my guess.

thanks, but no; happens regardless of cord. I regularly use three seperate ones (connecting car, stereo and headphones). Just to be clear - one song is playing, then half way through another song cuts in and plays over the top - no pause at all.
I had a similar issue, but my music would just start randomly playing at any time. Sometimes just randomly, while locked and in my pocket, and it happened a few times for some reason when I opened up facebook. It's always one of the mp3's I have saved on my phone, and always the first in the playlist, like it was actually selected. I also couldnt get it to stop. It would either randomly stop on it's own or I'd have to turn the phone off. Opening up the media player didnt do anything at all. Hasn't happened in a couple months and I didn't do anything to fix it. Hope someone has an answer.
I get the same issue with mine. For me it happens most of the time with Google Music. If I press the play button from the lock screen, sometimes just clicking next on the music controls in the notification tray, and sometimes just randomly.
When I pull up Google Music, it will usually have whatever song is playing, but it will be shown as not playing. Sometimes pressing play, then pause will stop it. Other times, the only way to stop it is to let it play the song through or reboot my phone. Even ending the Google Music app from the Task Manager doesn't stop it.
Hopefully someone knows some more information on a fix for this.
P.S. This happens despite what headphones/cord I plug into the phone.
Try Headset Blocker in the app market...it's free and solved the problem for me...there are a few others but I don't remember the names

Now that I think about it, you're absolutely correct - this only happens with mp3's that I've downloaded and are stored on the phone mem ... perhaps it's one of the download programs. I often use GTunes, which has an inbuilt player ... I reckon it's possible that it's stuffing me around.
@chronos7 nothing to do with headset controls... as mentioned, happens even with a cord going straight into an amplifier.
just updated to the new version of gtunes, called gpod. Will report back after some listening
I had that problem with either WinAmp or DoubleTwist. Both are uninstalled now and I haven't seen the problem in a while.
It was quite annoying.. whenever I would disconnect the car bluetooth it would start playing.

didn't help ... sigh.
Extra info: it switches back to the original song sometimes. So, playing song a, song b cuts in for about 20 seconds, then switches back to song a. No pauses.
Try the headset blocker and see if that fixes the problem...I had the exact same issues and this solved the problem about 6 months ago and I haven't had the problem since...just try it and if it doesn't work then it's was free anyway but trust me it will work...
thanks Chronos, tried it, but no, didn't help.
Here's the fu**ing weird thing: i just copied all my music from my sd card to my pc. I then played some music with windows media player......... THE SAME THING HAPPENED! In the middle of a song another song jumped in for 15 seconds and then buggered off. Note that WMP never acknowledged any change, i.e. kept showing song a even when song b had cut in.
WTF? Corrupted files??
If it does the same thing on your PC it's not the phone, it's the MP3 file. Download from a different source. Some people still have trouble ripping/converting music so you get garbage/incomplete MP3 files sometimes.

I agree after some experimentation, but the problem originated on the phone itself. I can see this is the case because song a is polluted with song b and c, where both b and c are present on my phone and are completely unrelated to song a. I just encountered a Joy Division song with chunks of Prince and something else completely alien, but still all are my songs, not just ones that would have been inserted during the encoding process .... I wonder what program did this. I still think gtunes is a candidate, but have no evidence at all, except that in the aforementioned case all three songs were downloaded via gtunes.
