I can't debug - Droid X General

I'm running the pre-rooted gb version. Every time I connect my DROID x to my (or any pc), it shows the usb connected but not the usb debugging in the notification bar. Whether debugging is on or not, I can use all the drivers and modes and read the sd card via my computer but I can't use debug to test an app.
Because one signature isn't enough.

Sorry to double post but I'm just posting I got it working, however the usb debugging icon isn't there even while I'm debugging.

Are you talking about the normal ADB Debugging Icon that normally appears when usb debug is turned on and the device is plugged into a pc?
If so, I haven't seen that icon in GB, which I thought was odd since it is in both earlier and later versions of Android.

USB mass storage not work on Mac

I can connect the i9000 to my PC using mass storage mode and see it as an USB disk, but it doesn't work on my Mac, it recognize nothing (I have chosen to mount the drive after connected to the USB as I did the same when connecting to Windows). I can see there is a Samsung USB device connected in the System Profiler but the disk won't mount, any clues?
Thanks.
I have the very same problem. Works in PC, not on my iMac.
You need to enable USB debugging and after that it will work.

Yep. Speaking as a Mac OS X user I can confirm this works.
The is no way to flash from a Mac though. However, I have high hopes for ROM Manager

May I know how this thing done? On the Mac or on the phone and the location? Thank you!

Of course it's to be done on the phone. Sorry, I should have been more specific.
I've enabled USB Debugging and can't get my mac to recognize my phone to use it as a USB storage device?!?! I'm running ICS 4.0.3 XXLPB. I didn't have any problem at first with GB. Any suggestions? Thanks! =)
EDIT: Silly me, wrong forum my phone is i9100.... Still would appreciate any help.

Ubuntu Driver?

I am a ubuntu n00b!
I cannt seem to find my phone when it is mounted with ubuntu.
I read in another thread how ubuntu doesnt need drivers.
If this is true, how do I copy files to / from my epic with ubuntu please?
Thanks

I am aware that it has to be mounted on the phone.
With the phone mounted no 16 gig drive shows up in places or under computer or any of file location I can find in ubuntu.
Just tried my girlfriends stock epic when she got home from work, and it works like it should. Get a pop up window. Mine does nothing.
Running:
D18
Noobnl 1.1.1 ROM
Noobnl 1.4.0 Kernel
Hers is stock. So the problem must be related to root or the rom or kernel.
Try Turning off your USB debug.

Doesnt work.
Need to try a diffrent rom / kernel I guess, Dont want to I like these.
IF your using a PC try using USB ports which are located in the back of the computer, otherwise (laptops) try a different port with the Original cable you got with the phone.
Like already mentioned try to disable the USB debugging mode. Also from the command prompt try running lsusb command and see if the device is recognized. If the only thing your doing is syncing music and photos you won't need to do changes in your rules file like when you would want ADB to work.
Let us know if this worked.
PS. Also you may want to reboot your phone after disabling USB debugging mode, just for giggles.

Using a back USB port did the trick. Seen this posted before to get the drivers for this phone to work on windows 7. Since I never had to do this I never thought to try a back port.
you can leave usb debugging on, i have no issues with it being on

[Q] Lost USB connection with CM10 Nightlies Updates

While my original NC is running quite well with the CM10 nightlies, I have lost my ability to use the USB cable as my file transfer source since leaving CM 7.2.
I now do all of my files transfers directly to the SD card by removing it and accessing it directly via my computer.
I get the following when the cable is connected: "USB device not recognized".
I have tried both Media Device and Mass Storage settings to no avail.
This was not an issue with CM 7.2.
Seems to be the only real issue I am experiencing since I was able, with forum help, to redo my inadvertently updated NetFlicks.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

First, don't call the ROM JZ054K, it is CM10. You confuse folks. The problem probably is you have USB debugging enabled. Go to settings, developer options and uncheck Android debugging.

Followed your suggestion and unchecked Android Debugging. Rebooted and then hooked up the USB/Recharge cable. Still have same result with the "USB device not recognized" being displayed by Win7/64 with both Media Device or Mass Storage being selected.
Any other paths to explore on this?
Utilized my ROM nomenclature based on "About tablet: Bulid Number" and will switch to CM10 if that is a confusing issue.

The device id and vendor id are different in the CM10 from CM7, you would need to edit the android_winusb.inf file to include them.

Are you sure it is still unchecked? Did you go back and look after rebooting. You should not have to reboot to turn it off. That device not recognized issue is it is looking for ADB drivers because the debugging box is checked.

Yes, went back and looked and it was still unchecked. Normally reboot when I make any changes but went back and redid your suggestion from scratch without rebooting with same result.

The only thing I can think of is to go device manager in Windows and uninstall any devices in portable devices, android phone and under USB controllers, any mass storage devices. Then unplug and replug it back in, assuring debugging is still of. You should now get messages that things are installing, hopefully automatically.

I'm having the same issue, was using the Dec 2 and now 3 nightly. when I get time tonight I will roll back to Dec 1 since I know it was working there. Win7/Win8 here fyi
Unsuccessful
Tried: "...and under USB controllers, any mass storage devices." This actually allowed WE to show "Nook Color" but when I clicked on it, there was nothing there. The unit did temporarily display a USB connection at that time also.
Again, this was not an issue under CM7.2.
Thanks for your ongoing assist!
Update: Okay tried every conceivable way of deleting some or all of USB drivers under DM and reinstalling. Even went into BIOS and turned down USB 3.0 to 2.0!
Again erratically got the Andoid USB screen temporarily a couple of times but could not maintain it.
Definitely getting a Windows "Code 43" error indicator.

If you are getting windows errors installing drivers you may want to look at this post. It is for the HD+ and trying to get ADB working, but there is some interesting stuff there about unsigned windows drivers that may apply to you.

Will do!
It was very frustrating seeing the Android USB screen fleetingly appear several times and not be able to nail it down. I even got the WE screens for both drives briefly at one point!
Any idea as to why the issue exists with CM10 and not CM7.2?

Followup
Went there (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=34954992) ...did that. Did not work at first, but it did work (somewhat) after I went back in and deleted the three drivers. I was then able to connect and utlilize WE to probe and adjust both emmc and sdcard. Calibre recognized that it was connected but I could not transfer anything directly from it to the NC.
Thanks for all of the help with this. Since I am probably around eight weeks from purchasing my HD+, I will just use the SD card to manually transfer files.
Interesting issue nonetheless!

Had same problem, I went to settings - storage - then the menu box top right (three dots) then choose USB computer connections.. For the most of the time I just leave mine on Mass Storage -- On the second - I just leave the stock file manager and install any others I use - stock is not a lot of overhead for me to bother removing...

[Q] Nexus 4 not recognized by pc at all

So I plug my stock unrooted but unlocked, stock recovery 4.3 nexus into my windows 7x64 PC or windows7x86 laptop and it doesn't get recognized at all. The computer doesn't know it's there... I tried debugging mode but didn't work either, I just removed the abd drivers to make sure it wasn't their fault but no effect.
Sometimes the computer sees something unknown but doesn't want to install drivers to it. I think it's a hardware defect, the cable is confirmed working fine, charging also works fine but the phone does nothing in the pc. Yesterday it sort of worked, bad, but it did get recognized after trying ten times, now nothing at all.
Please can anyone tell me what is going on??? I need to install custom recovery to reset the phone but I can't get any files on it.
at the moment my laptop sees something, but nothing more than unknown, as shown in the image attatched

Enable USB debbuging in your phone. Go to Settings -> about phone -> tap about 10 times on build number item until USB debbuging is unlocked.
Also, on your computer go to the device manager, look for your phone, if you find it, right click on it, then update Driver Software, browse computer, Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer, USB composite device
That should do it.

If you see a unrecognized device in the "Devices and printers" list, as shown in your screenshot, then it should show up in the device manager as well...
If you can't find it, just use the one displayed right there in your screenshot (if it really is your phone).

The windows plug in plug out sound is now sounding about every 10 seconds, in out in out, could it be the phone has a broken connection? the micro usb? still nothing just unrecognized, mass storage is ticked, but doesn't make difference whatsoever, disabling developer options doesn't help either. computer keeps saying it already has the latest drivers.
I recently flashed all the new stuff I downloaded at the official google site where you downlaod the latest 4.3, I flashed using nexus 4 toolkit the files as shown in the second image. I think this might have broke it, but that would be very unfortunate because there would be no way to ever flash different recovery or install another rom/kernel, or is there?
Also, phone doesn't get recognized in fastboot or adb, but it did before
and now the phone gets recognized as normally would, nothing changed, what the ...?
sorry for wasting your time, I figured out my nexus has a broken connection, it's still usable though when I do it right.
I guess I have the same problem. I also replaced the USB flex, but the problem persists. How can you connect it properly to the computer?
Thanks

Well my Nexus 4 is hardware broken but I can still charge it fine, its just the computer connection that barely works, today I was lucky enough to be able to flash custom recovery to it while holding the phone sideways, it worked just for the moment, not anymore rightnow. I guess I'm kinda screwed and you might be too....
This isn't covered by warranty is it? I think I have water damage which isn't covered I know for sure, I just can't tell if it was the water that did the damage.
Are you guys sure it's a problem with your cable/phone plug and not your USB socket or internal hub? Have you tried different sockets?
