microphone pop-up - Galaxy S II General

Sometimes when I press the big square button at the bottom, start an application up, and I must say something about what I want now - the is an microphone on the screen (this gives meaning) - how do I stop this action?

Sounds like the built in voice action is being launched. It happens when you press the Home key twice really fast, but sometimes the phone mistakes the double tap action. To stop it go to settings, Applications, Manage Applications, & clear the default for Voice Actions. Then whenever you do it again the phone will ask you to agree to something, I always press the back button, so it never launches.

not sure how to get rid of it completely...
but I don't use it either so I'll check back this thread

If you're rooted, you can use Titanium Backup to freeze or uninstall the program

I don't understand this: "Manage Applications, & clear the default for Voice Actions" All I can se is all the programs I have installed on my Phone.

"OK" to minimise / "Hang Up" to close

This is the default behaviour on the X1, owing I believe to the HTC Task Manager. I'm now running QuickMenu because it's brilliant, but it switches these buttons around. Has anyone written a service which will allow these keys to act in the more intuitive way used by HTC?
Thanks
Just change it
You can change that in the
--> Options menu
within Quickmenu in the
--> General
Tab.
Greets !
You can only set 'OK' as close. You can't set 'Hang-up' as close in the menu.
So where can i set "hang up" action?
My hang up button ends my data connection,
i don't like it, but still don't know where to change it.

Is it possible to have a program always running

I use Calender SBHC a lot- its great. but everytime i try to get out of it, it closes. is it possible to force it to stay running in the background even if i press the X button in the top right.??
otherwise it takes time to load up each time
Don't close it with the cross, press only the ok the hardware ok button, it will minimize the app. And make the calendar in the taskmanager to an exclusive app, so it will not be automatically closed.
You can allso add it to the exception in the HTC task manager settings.
Start the program, go to settings, system tab, then Task Manager.
Long press on SBHC and click add exclusive .

Map OK button

How do you make the ok button close an app instead of minimising it?
The OK button doesn't close the map or minimize it :-s (if i'm right)
It's just a OK-button
but the X-button does close or minimze the app/window.
You can configure this somewhere in the Configuration of WinMo.
But default it is like this:
If you press the X-button shortly, it will minimize the app
If you hold the X-button, it will be closed.
Some apps does close, if you press x-button shortly..
So it depends on the app itself.
Hope I helped you a lil bit ^^
No i meant the physical button
I think you could do it using Spb PocketPlus. At least you can map the OK-Button to a function there. The current setting on my phone is "<Default>". There IS a function called "OK/Close" - which probably equals "<Default>". However, there is also a function "[Close]" which might work for you. However, I am not sure if this function became available through PocketPlus original installation or through the Shortcuts Addon (Which you can download for free). So I recommend you check out PocketPlus. You can try it for free. You should consider the fact that many windows as for example Settings require you to press the OK Button to save them, in these menues you would have to tap OK on the screen otherwise the Close-Function might Cancel the dialogue.

How to switch btw apps quickly?

How to switch btw running apps quickly? For example, if I am listening to slacker while browsing the web and want to switch back quickly to change the song. I am new to winmo and I am trying to learn the ropes. I currently use the stock task manager to switch, but that is kind of a pain. Is the a mod or app that allows this. Please refrain from raging on the newb.
Arkswitch
I use Arkswitch, which is quite a handy tool and can be accessed easily by assigning a area on the screen, which upon tapping, brings up arkswitch task manager. Just search for it on XDA and you should find it or i guess you can also google for it.
good topic. i was wondering about this too but i would prefer to long-press the home key & have task manager or another app switching app come up... I'm still looking into it.
@rlee
that would be amazing

Lmao YUP! something's should be easy, even already thought of while they're compiling the Win Mobile software together. Why there is no native option to just remap a button to open something baffles me these days. I’ve searched much and all I can come up with is "try AEButton Plus or HButton" but they don’t seem to map the "home key" or some people have issues.... anyways, I don’t want to have an app running in my memory to just get this function to work. still searching...

Here is a Registry hack for the send key to bring up the task manager: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=612530
To use your "send" key to bring up Task Manager:
Settings > All settings > Personal > Buttons > Select Task Manager from "Assign a Program" drop-down menu (there's a scroll bar on the right, kind of hard to see at first)
Now when you hold your green button, the task manager will be brought up.

No, that's to bring up the task manager. They're looking for an easy way to bring up the, um...task manager. LOL yeah I think it's stupid someone didn't come up with a different name for one of them
The cab below will bring up the ArkSwitch task manager (usually accessed by clicking the menu icon just to the right of the clock in the taskbar) when you long-press the send key.
It's from THIS list of great cabs/tweaks, which is also found in the sticky at the top of this forum section. There's also similar cabs there that will perform the same fuction, but with alternative task manager apps.

Actually, with the task manager you can both close apps (by selecting it and hitting "Close") AND switch apps (by double-tapping on the app), so that would work perfectly.
Me, I usually just hit "Home" and most of the time the other app I want to load is on my quick list, if not, I'll just hit "Windows" instead.
dutty's task manager should do the trick.

+1, you can indeed switch between apps on the default Task Manager by double tapping on the program.

[Q] Home button doesn't run launcher any more :/

Hi all,
My phone rebooted and I lost all custom settings (like text size, custom ringtone etc.), while retaining other apps data. This was simple to repair
Problem is, since then my "Home" button doesn't execute launcher anymore. If I long-press, it shows tasks list, so the button is working, but short press does.. nothing.
I installed Home2 Shortcut - doesn't work either.
Cleared TouchWiz settings - no change
Cleared "Application preferences" - no change
Installed Nova Launcher - works fine, but won't return to home screen on "Home" press.
I guess some simple setting got corrupted, but I've no idea where to look for that. I'd rather not reflash the phone just because of this one button, but it's quite nice to be able to go to Home screen
Any advice?
Try this:
1. Long-press home button and select the "cheese"
2. Go to the last tab called "Clear default Settings"
3. You will have there something called: TouchWiz Home. Clear it.
4. Go back to the start screen and long-press home button again.

Thanks for suggestion, but I already tried that. Home button still doesn't react to short press.
Actually, it does react to short press - when I want to wake up the phone. But it doesn't run launcher.
I have exactly the same problem. Button physically works fine will click to show lock screen when off , double press for s voice ( when on ) and hold for task manager. it just wont single press to actually go home..grrrrrrrr

Yeah, I figure a reset/reflash will do, but it's another couple hours (which I don't have ) to restore everything after that
I got the same problem
I was planning to upgrade firmware anyway though
