hi guys, i have one question, i searched for the answer in this forum but cant find the answer (hope im not double posting)
my question is the clockworkmod save the backup files in internal sd ( we can also make a copy into our com or external sd) , so if we do a factory reset to clear all data the internal sd data will also b erased right?mean erased together with the clockworkmod folder, so if we want backup using recovery mode and restore they say cant find files, ..hope to hear from u guys =) thanks in advance

yeah bro i did a backup in external sd and also comp, but in cases where the phone does not reboot into the normal homescreen(it keep stuck and replay the big samsung purple S), where we are force into only either recovery or downloading mode ( those 3 button combo) , and then when we press restore in CWM they say cant find file,we go into external sd also they say cant find file to restore, so how do we restore? bcoz we also cant connect phone to comp as the comp can detect the phone bcoz we cant press the "connect usb to comp" in homescreen bcoz cant even enter homescreen

I have followed a few guides for app2sd.
But i cannot understand them. The english doesn't make much sense.
Can anybody that speaks GOOD english help me with this?
Thanks
I can give u a much better tut for App2SD for Eclair:
Here we go.
1. Connect ur phone via debbuging, connect ur SDcard Backup all data from ur SDcard to PC.
2. Download this 'Home' edition.
3. Install programm and search for ur SDcard.
4. Rightclick on ur partition, click remove. Be careful: check twice if its ur SDcard from Phone
5. Rightclick on ur new partition, select 'create" and create a new partition with these settings:
FAT32, primiary and ca 70% of space from ur card.
Now u got 70% (1,70 GB from 2 GB SD storage) and a 30% none format partition.
Repeat step 5 with those 30% but choose Ext2.
6. Click on "Apply" on the corner to the topper left.
7. Reboot ur Phone and check if ur Phone starts with SD card.
8. Check for installed BusyBox partition. If there is none: install BusyBox
9. Download the App2sd.zip, extract on ur SD file
example path: X:\App2SD\app2sd.sh
10. Download from market 'ScriptMe' and install on ur Phone.
11. Open ScriptMe, choose 'app2sd.sh', check "with root privilege" and "Execute script"
12. wait a long time for reboot. WARNING: dont forcequit ScriptMe while extract the script. if u do it, ur SDcard will **** bricks. Choose "Wait for programm" if there is any PopUp.
13. Done.
Edit: tested on 2.1 Quarx, Europe Open, Baltic Black
other alternative 2 partition ur sdcard: (assume u have clockwork recovery)
-backup ur sdcard
-install rom manager
-choose manual override
-reboot phone (sometimes u need to reinstall the rom manager)
-in rom manager, choose Partition SD Card (the max partition is 512 mb, but i thing it's more than enough), u can also make swap partition (i chose 32 mb just in case)
adv: faster, no need to connect to pc, ext3 partition (for those with more than class 4 sdcard, i think and with the newest kernel)
dis: u need to backup ur sdcard, max size only 512 mb..

At the end of all things u did u should restore your datas to your sdcard.
So... this sentence explain itself: u should install BusyBox _before_ u restore your data.
In fact: u need an installed version BusyBox on your device. Doesn't matter if u got a titanium backup or not. U can check for an installed BusyBox when u open the programm BusyBox
i did it and it reboted my phon anda al app were deleted and it says loading widgets on one screen and it doesent see sd card wtf is that

hmm, did u use card reader, or from your phone to make the partition?
if u use or phone, try read the sdcard from pc/laptop via card reader. if it's readable, make sure u put drive letter in fat32 partition, and no drive letter in ext2/3 partition.
i made partitions from my phone, in my very first time of trying, i've got the sdcard error (or something like that), i chose to restore factory default, n it said that my sdcard is not formatted, so i formatted, then it back to normal (with no data of course)...
hope this can help you.
i did it from my phone, the prob is that i dont have adapter so i cant put my card intoo my laptop
i went to titanium and all i see overview
root access-- OK( busybox 1.16.0 from app)

Just a stupid question: could it be that u forgot to disconnect ur SDcard from PC?
'Not mounted' is the standard message for a stable USB-connection between ur PC and SDcard (device).
i just used my card in other phone and it is working, i dont get it. my phone cant read it, can i do smtg in my mobile so it can read it? and when i use phone with usb it dont connect, it cant find device
All drivers are installed?
Just reflash ur device and take a look whats happen.

i have searched @ google but i found notting..

cheers,
Have u tryed using unrevoked again n updateing with Rom manager
Do u have another SD card
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App

and no i do not have another sd card ;/
Surely borrowing an SD card from some of your close ones shouldnt be an issue? Anyway, did you try using an RUU to get back to the default state?
i;ve tried to use ruu, it only sees my phone while the htc logo but it says it's not enough charged.. i think ill try to wait until green led comes up and try it again ;/

Sounds like you might have partitioned your card, and now are looking at two different partitions, one from windows, one from recovery. You could try repartitioning it from recovery, to make sure that you only have one FAT partition and one EXT and that they are in the correct order.
Mine has its FAT partition on p1, and ext2 on p2.
hey mate,
could you guide me how to do it? in recovery i have;
unmount system
unmount data
unmount cache
mount sd-card
when i click on mound sd-ext it says "ERROR MOUNTING SDEXT:!"
;/
i took off the sd card and formatted it then i mount it into the device and tried to choose zip file but it was unmounted in options so it didnt show me any files, next i've mounted sd card and left sd-ext unmounted and againt its the same, it shows me the old files which dont even exist anymore, i guess it maybe something with partitionin, but how to do it? could you guide me how to make one fat and one ext ? like u have? thx in advance
I partitioned mine from a linux PC with an SD card reader attached, but it should work from recovery as well.
From the Clockworkmod recovery menu, choose advanced and then partition sd card then choose the size you want for the ext partiton, then the size for the flash partition (if any). That should set them up correctly in the correct order.
Questions/Problems don't belong in the Development section <---please click link and read....moved to general...
i've wipped cache and during wippin it said that there is no sd-ext partiotion ; / it's something wrong with clockwork but i have no idea what.. it shows only the old files that i've loaded on sd before flashing with cm7 rc-2 ;/ the weird thing is that i remember that i updated cmw do newest 3.0.5... (something like that - the orange one) and it worked fine but next when i log into recovery it shows the older version oO
i successfuly manange to update cmw, i used adb in that purpouse and now everything works fine
Hello.
I've had my SGS 4 (I9500) for about 10 days, and have some problems (not critical but anoying), I don't know if they are related.
1) I use a microSD of 64 GB, the same I was using in my previous SGS 3 without any problem. In the SGS 4, sometimes the microSD is reported as damaged (even at boot, or during usage). It has happend several times, and fixed with a reboot. When this happends, the microSD can't be readed by the file explorer (neither ES explorer or Solid Explorer). I have formatted the microSD with the SGS 4, but didn't help.
2) I can't mount, format neither backup on the microSD from Recovery, even using Recovery that claim "backup / restore folders fixed". I need to backup on external SD in order to free the little space available on the internal SD!!
3) I can't find the folder where the backups made from Recovery are! Recovery says the path is sdcard/clockworkmod/backup, but I browse to that path in Solid Explorer, and it only has one file: .recovery_version. (I have activated the option "show hidden files"). I need to find these folders for at least move/copy the backup files to my PC, if I can't store them on the external SD.
At the beginning, I thought it was a generic problem of the SGS 4 that would be fixed with custom kernels or ROMs, but so far nothing has helped!
Any help or ideas would be appreciated.
Thank you.
Javier.

i think you backuped efs partition with recovery, that is fine.
NV_DATA must be secured also, they are included in other partition, they are not included in efs partition so make a backup for them see this.
Hello guys.
Can anybody help me with the external SD issues? :fingers-crossed:

Solution to Recovery access to external SD
As I thought, the issue with the Recovery access to external SD was solved with a new version of Recovery. The Cofface Recovery V 2.0 made the magic! :victory:
I thought this would solve the issues with the esternal SD in general, but I keep having the error "SD is damaged", and when I try to mount it, it is detected as empty. I let the phone alone, and some minutes later the SD card is detected and mounted itself. :silly:
I hope this to be a release problem, and be eventually solved with new versions of kernels or ROMs. :fingers-crossed:

correct path for deleting cwm backup files
... thanks, with your help I was finally able to delete my unneeded image.zip backup file that was not recognized by the recovery / mod manager clean up tool. Some other posts suggested to reach it under /mnt/shell/emulated/clockworkmod/backup which is basically correct for accessing it, but even with root permission you are never allowed to delete it there (symlinks?). However, /data/media/clockworkmod was finally the correct path to physically remove it :victory:
