[Q]Gameloft Games On SDCard? - Acer Iconia A500

Greetings Chaps,
I got a small question if i may.
I have the A500 and well,i got 1 doubt,if i could install my Gameloft games Data on my SDCard instead of Internal Memory,as my internal is already full but got 7gb of free space on the SD.
Got any tips?
PS : I know i can just copy em =p but the game then doesnt find em and needs to redownload which leads me back to where i was.
Thanks in advance.
Respect.

Your best bet would be to transfer some data to SD and free some space from Internal memory.
You could try messing with simlinks and stuff but I don't know if it would work and it's just not worth it.

Ouch,i guess you're right there.
I saw that they made a "Patcher" for gameloft games for the 2X,so it can be able to use the external Memory.I tried it on our Acer and seems that its a no-go,wont work.
Anyways,i guess its time to transfer Data =p
Thanks mate ^^

Question: Updating memory for Apps to SD.

Hey, atm while i was learning more about the G1, I kept the 1 GB in there. I now want to know more about the installing apps to SD part of it. 1st off after I get a memory card. (Which btw I saw I can get a 2 GB model. How do I know if its good? Sandisk work ok or do I need a SDHC or no?
Also after applying the fix that does apps to SD. Would that mean anything I install from the market after that point auto installs to the SD? Also is it worth it? Right now I was comfortable installing to the internal memory this way I could unmount the SD card and not worry about something going horribly wrong that needed access or so. (I like to know about things I do to my phone before doing it.)
Anyways just wanted to get some info on this a lil more and know if its worth it so I can continue looking into it and how to do it. Thanks. =)
1. I'm not sure about sandisk, but the one i use (Transcend) works just fine. I'm not really that too good with sdcard specs lol...
2. Yep, every app you install from the market will be installed to your sdcard. Well, to me, it's really worth it because you can get more apps and not really have to bother with that low memory warning... I also think it removes some lag lol
Ok sounds good, so to confirm, I DO 100% need a 2 GB at least to use? How do I know if its the right type tho?
Also my current apps, is there a way to move them over easy enough or do I need to wipe my phone and reinstall everything from scrath? ( One of the reasons I avoided this since I really did not want to lose a couple of these apps since they are older ones and not "Trial" or they were removed, or just hard to track what I did have)

From what I've read, you only need 500 megs of space on ext partition. More than that, and it'll lag a little bit.
I actually have my sd partitioned 6gb/2gb fat32/ext2 respectively.
A class 6 sd card (you can tell by the small number in the corner... no number, probably a class 2 then) is recommended, but I am using a class 4.
If you put music and video on your sd, I would recommend going with a 4gb or higher card.
So where does it install the apps to? EXT2? So normally you only wanna have 500 megs on ext2?
But 1 GB wouldnt be worth doing this right?
Also any news on if I can move all my apps to it or if it had to be reinstalled?
Also how do you really go about finding a app that is no longer on the market but yet has updates for?

I wouldnt use a 1gb card, but thats because I like to put music and videos on my phone.
All applications downloaded after you create the symbolic link to install applications on sd will be installed on the ext2 partition.
Everytime you wipe (factory reset) your user data, only a few commands are needed to restore the symbolic link. So, no you won't need to reinstall your apps (your unprotected apps anyways).
I would use atrackdog to find apps that arent on the market but have updates
Apps to sd
here ya go dude
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=468959&highlight=(modded)+apps+sd
just follow these instructions, theyre the ones i used.
If you don't know how to use, or setup ADB, then at the bottom there are some instructions to use terminal emulator
Hope this helps
well I use atrackdog. But are you saying I should just use that to reinstall them? Most of my apps are from the market except for some. However while it says it has a update for a app, when I goto the market its no longer there some of the apps.
You wont lose the apps... no need to worry about that, it doesnt affect what apps you have, it just simply moves all the files from the apps to your sdcard... the only thing removed or changed will just probably be a theme and thats it lol...
cool. After that, I assume I would need to turn off the phone to take the card out and add files to it? Also if I wanted to "upgrade" the card later on, how would one move the files over? Use Linux to transfer the files directly to the other SD card or what?
Atrack will sometimes track beta testing versions that are only available to testers, so you wont always be able to utilize atrack dog to install updates.
Trust me, if you like downloading and trying out apps, you'll be glad you made the switch
Woot, I did it, Using a Kingston 2 GB
I updated to the JFvMOD by LucidREM, which I assume I had to do 1st for the SD apps right? Then I did the copy apps and data, seems everything converted over correctly, so Im happy about that, finally have workable space again and my G1 doesnt force close anymore due to lack of space.
Now come some other questions. I know in Linux I can access the memory card with a adapter to put files on. However in windows, how will this work? If I use usb will it only read the fat32 partition or will it try to read both? I know when I plugged it in by a adapter directly, WinXP acts like it doesnt see the memory card. It knows one is there, but it wants to format it. (Which I dont, granted odd since I do have the mod on WinXP that lets me see EXT3 partions)
Now the bigger question. When JF updates his regular version (Whenever G1 updates) will I be required to wait for THIS modded version to be updated before continuing or how does that all work for updates now? I used to know with the regular one but now that I use a mod of a mod version. Kinda confused where I stand. Heh.
But yes, so far I am happy I made the switch, got 58 megs free of internal heh. (I assume thats correct on a normal thing?)
Also later on with new apps etc, will they try to use internal memory or will EVERYTHING run to the SD card now? (How do you even check the EXT2 free space now? Astro or what?) If it does use internal, do I need to somehow do regular transfers over to the SD?
Anyways I know alot of questions, but least after this Ill have a better understanding how to keep proceeding. Thanks. =)

[Q] apps2sd does not transfer the data?

I been moving large apps like Gameloft games to the SD card but I see that not much has changed to my internal storage. I think it only moves the app but not the data, can anyone confirm this?

yes, only apps
You can use Link2Sd if your phone is rooted to move App Data to the external SD card.

Sorry i meant foldermount. LOL I mixed up the 2 apps.
I actually bought the premium version about 4 weeks ago and it's worth it for the extra links imo.
I've used foldermount to put my data for Real Racing 3 onto my sd
So just moving the app itself and not the data, is still pretty much useless then? S4 will still have internal storage problems.
Yes but the way I see it, I throw all my media files (photos and videos), backups (titanium and twrp) on the external SD card. So that frees up space on the internal SD just for games alone. And because of my scepticism with external SD cards, i tend to back it up both on the cloud and computer hard drive. So although this may not be the answer you are looking for, it's the only way besides apps like folder mount!

[Q] S4 Storage Issue!!

So i Got an S4. I rooted it and im running stock 4.2.2 XXUBMEA firmware. With the new update, i can move apps to the SD card, but App data is still internal. you cannot move app data. About 7gb of my internal memory is already taken up by android which leaves me with around 9.23gb left. after installing all my necessary apps, i have left about 7.3gb internal storage left. The problem is here. Most HD games these days have Data files around 1gb. for example, games like Asphalt 7, Batman and GTA Vice City. they all have sd data of around 1gb. And as you know, on the s4, unfortunately, you can only put Sd data on the internal storage and you cannot put it in the micro SD card. So, in order to play these HD games, i have to use my internal memory. By doing this, i wont have much memory left and will probably run out of memory after 3-5 HD games. What do you think is the best solution for this? How do i play a lot of HD games on my device? After all, I paid a lot for this phone. I hope i did not waste my money. Remember i am rooted. Is there anything i can do?
Thanks
Help will be much appreciated.

Thank you very much .

Been trying to do this for two years, still need to use sd card as internal memory

I ran out of storage for new apps a long time ago. My device is kind of useless for new things because there is no internal memory for INSTALLING APPS, even after removing 75% of my apps which includes system apps. There is just no more space. It still has 2gb of internal memory left BUT THAT CANNOT BE USED FOR INSTALLING APPS, stupidly. There are 8GB of total internal storage space.
I have plenty of storage for data. Just not for apps. I have a 32GB SD card as well.
App2SD apps, I maximized all possible data to be moved.
Apps with data larger than 20MB I just deleted the whole apps.
Still no more space.
Additionally, it means I CANNOT use this tablet for things like games, or for storing map data from gopilot live as a backup in case my phone dies. Which is VERY limiting. Especially because I used to like to play games on it but I had to remove all the games to make way for utilities.
Thus I DESPERATELY NEED to be able to install UNLIMITED NUMBER OF APPS using the SD card for internal storage.
I tried the vold.fstab method HERE, but it did not work.
PLEASE HELP!!! THANK YOU!!!
p.s. I WOULD BUY A NEW TABLET WITH MORE MEMORY BUT NO 7.0 INCH TABLET EXISTS THAT IS BETTER THAN THE TAB 4 BECAUSE THEY ARE ALL MAKING HUGE 8.0 and 8.4 INCH TABLETS THAT ARE TOO BIG SO I AM STUCK WITH THE TAB 4.

i'd say you just need test different apps all over and over akd different methods from XDA, i have on my phone sdcard as internal memory but same method wont work on tab 4..... you should use folder mount to move appdata to sdcard and use it from there, it helps if you have big app data on internal sd card.

No I tried that already. It does Not work because of the error "this has been limited due to kitkat so you're not authorized" or something to that extent. It's not an error, it is a limitation of the kitkat (and all subsequent) operating systems. Google did that on purpose to try to force people to have to upgrade their phone.

Cyanogenmod isn't an extreme solution, it runs better than touchwiz IMO and it takes up significantly less memory, which is a fact. It's more like saying, "I don't like Windows," and the reply being, "You should try out Ubuntu," especially since both cyanogenmod, like Ubuntu, is completely free

Waiting for a real solution to the actual problem.
uh if youre not ready to install different rom i guess theres no solution
I'm having the exact same dilemma. In my case, not going to CM (or another rom/firmware/kernel..) is due to the fact that my children use the tablets, so the KidsMode needs to work. I've looked at that one from Zoodles, and its rubbish compared to the Samsung one available on their Galaxy devices. My original post never had any reply other than my own update.
By the way: I'm still searching for a solution to this... If only Samsung would/could release Marshmallow on this tablet, the Adoptable Storage option could be used...
Now, if you can just hold your breath...
lol I know right...?
Full disclosure: I've given up hope of finding a solution that will work with (essentially) stock 4.4.2, so now I'm looking into how to get the TouchWiz framework to run on a rom/kernel that DOES support support an external/internal swap.
Of course, that does nothing to help the OP, but IMO the best solution has already been presented to him: Install a custom ROM that supports what he needs. It's still the best solution since there don't seem to be any TouchWiz-dependent apps he needs.
Years later still no solution

If you are willing to root your device you can use Apps2sd to actually move(link) whole app into sd card.
You'll need to repartition your sd card to do it, but there are good guides to do it.
EDIT:
Oh it's renamed app2sd but here is the link https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=in.co.pricealert.apps2sd&hl=fi for it
you can also try link2sd app

I don't know about how limited it is, but it's completly different than native android moving apps to sd. Linking is like actually increasing your devices internal memory(not really but somethign like that). Also it's easiest/(propably)best way to get more memory for apps.

Can´t move apps to SD card due to not true message “Not enough Space”.

Ok guys need some help from experts.
I am trying to move some apps from internal storage to my SD card, but during the app transfer I receive a message of not enough space for transfer. I have a 128 GB from SanDisk with 50% of free space. The game I am trying to move to SD card has more or less 800Mbytes of size. So I have much more space than the necessary.
Looking in the internet I found some users with similar problems and they solve it leaving the SD card with less than 32GB of free space since it seems that android has problems with more than 32 GB.
But I really want to believe there is a better solution since we a talking about Android 6.01 and S7 Edge.
Anyone knows a better solution for this?
Thanks
Eduardo

No I have not tried. I dont want to use an extra app to simply move my applications. It should be simple. But if there is no other way I will try.
Thanks

Sorry to revive this thread but I am just curious if you ever found a solution or did you use an app instead?
