My friend took his G1 in the hot tub......
Dried it up then turned it on. Once it turned on a hazard triangle came up with a phone image then shut off. The phone is totally dry now but will not power on in any way?
Any ideas??

Try the procedure I discuss here.
Also, the triangle screen is recovery screen. Press Alt+L to see the text. If you can boot it up into the recovery it's probably not completely fried.
i did something similar but i think your problem is that you turned it on... maybe should just wait a few more days because mine took over a week to dry out fully.
and that screen you see might not necessarily mean its done.
I had a ton of errors and problems when i turned mine on too early. Keyboard would spew random numbers and letters and phone would turn off.
check the thread in my sig and you might find something useful
My G1 fall into the water too, I try to quickly pick it up.
After trying to dry it for like 1 hour I turned it on and was working but the backlight of the screen didn't turn on.
At that time couldn’t find replacement LCD when I try to Google it so after I disassemble it I save the pieces for the future.
My question is if the backlight can be fixed or do I have to replace the whole LCD?
Regards,
so you need to let it completely dry out first then when you can get it to power up you need to boot an update to the phone and hopefully itll work...hope this helps just try a standard rc33 update
Gave up on trying to fix it took it to where i bought it, There is a bit on the battery and on the phone when water damaged turns red. HTC wont fix it had to claim on the insurance lol

I fixed this issue for a customer today. I took the phone apart down to the LCD. Completely remove LCD from the phone. Take off the grey tape covering the back to reveal the backlight plug and etc. Unplug the backlight. get a tooth bruch and some alcohol and scrub the hell out of this whole area. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes to dry. reassemle the phone and if she works. Worked for me today so it may work for you.
Hey everyone,
I am an avid runner and I use RunKeeper on my phone to track my runs. Last night I was running in a gym, and got really hot... My armband was soaked in sweat, and my volume buttons started malfunctioning.
When I restarted the phone, it went straight into bootloader mode as if the volume down key was pressed.
Anyway, as I read in these forums, I placed the phone in a bowl of raw rice, and it stayed there all night so it can absorb the moisture.
This morning I can boot into Android, but my volume keys still don't work. Whether I press Vol + or Vol - it works as if I'm pressing Vol -. So my Legend immediately goes to silent mode.
Anyone had problems with a wet Legend? Should I leave it in the bowl for a longer period? (I guess I'm too impatient since I'm using my old crappy phone right now) Do you think it's permanently damaged?

Chances are it's already too late to fix. You can try taking the battery/sim/sdcard out and chucking the phone in a bowl of rice for a couple of days or so, but at this point I don't think it's possible to repair.
I hope your Legend is still under warranty. |:
The problem is probably not the humidity itself, but the salts in the water from the sweat. Salt water often leads to short-circuits in electronics. The salt stays in the phone, even after the water has evaporated.
If you don't get it running again, you could try turning off the phone, removing the battery and washing it in sterilized water (full submerging for an extended time and move it around or leaving it under running tap-water for some minutes while you rotate it.
You should then open all lids and let the phone dry out in a warm and dry place for some days before trying it again.
I did this for my phone. At first the speaker, buttons and vibrator didn't work, but they came around after a few days. Good luck!
@jawil, that sounds very extreme... My phone is working except the volume up/down buttons. They are kinda malfuctioning, but I installed a widget to control volume settings.. I was also thinking about the salts.
It's still under warranty, and I was wondering if they will accept it. My service center told me a repair might take a couple of weeks, and I really can't go without my Legend now, so I thought I'd wait a while.
DON'T WASH IT IN TAP WATER!!! Even if it worked for a while the minerals in the tap water would eventually build up on the circuit board a make the phone malfunction you could take it apart and clean it with pure alcohol.

hi i used my xperia play this morning to make a few phones call after an hour i could feel the battery getting hot in my pocket, checked phone it was turned off i tried to turn it on it vibrated and it went to sony ericsson screen and its just sitting there now, i have rooted the phone 2 days ago using gingerbreak , have i bricked the phone?, or is it something to do with battery
From what i understand you cannot brick the phone from rooting. Since all you are doing is gaining admin rights. Did you possibly uninstall something you shouldnt have after rooting? Did you follow the safe apps to remove thread?
Maybe the battery is not in properly? Try taking the battery out leave it for 5-10 mins. Then place it back into phone and replace the cover firmly. Without turning the phone on put it on charge for an hour or so then try turning it back on.
hi thanks for the respone i am no where near my charger, so i will try that when i go home thanks, does the phone turn on if its bricked or what happens
I think if it is bricked when you power on the phone it will vibrate then nothing. But yours is going to the se screen. Not sure tbh since i have not seen a bricked phone.
Day b4 yesterday I was on a walk by the riverside with HD2 in pocket. On my attempt to balance on a wood over the mud , I lost balance and fell in to river. It was ~3 feet on the banks.I couldn't first belive that I am face down in to the muddy water (thanks to rain),but then I was quickly pulled up by a friend with me.Then I noticed the phone is not in pocket.Got down in to water again and searched a bit & found it back.Quickly removed battery , SIM , mSD etc..Kept in pocket. At home tried cleaning and left it open on table. After some time connected wall charger and tried booting (I am on Android) It just came up to 123 go and turned off again. The charge indication also didn't appear.I left it on charger whole night. At morning I found it booted to normal screen. But was asking to connect the charger. It didn't hold when removed the charger.I was about to travel back to my workplace. So put in backpack.Next day morning when I reached the other place,I tried again the wall charger - Bingo > it started charging!.Now Every thing is fine except some dark patches on the screen.I will wait and see it anyway....So dont loose hope or think of next phone (I was thinking of SGS2 when in water !) when its HD2 !.(May be I am on better luck here)..
Poor phone dude. Hope it will recover. I dropped my home phone in bathroom too and after few days it recovered.
Hi devs,
i accidentlly wet my asus m10 on my way to somewhere.then i removed the battery and let the handset dry for long time(around 1 hour in the sun).then i inserted the battery and tried to turn it on. No luck
then i came home opened the phone completely and sucked the water out using vacuum..let the phone stay in a sealed box of rice overnight(to absorb any leftover moisture). in the morning i reassembled the phone and tried to turn it on. it gave 2 dashes of vibrations(normal, when turned ON) but nothing came up on the screen.
then i removed the battery and again tried to turn it on..nothing..not even the vibration..since then i've tried everything from alcohol baths to plugging in the charger but the phone doesn't turn ON..pls help guys.
the LCD looks fine and there was no fog or anything like that in the phone.
