i'm hoping someone can help as i desperately need my work email to work.
I'm using the patched Email.apk file from this thread,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...Exchange+Email
what is weird is when i turn on my WIFI the client will work and can connect to server no problem, but when I disable WIFI and go back to the default 3G network, i'm getting unable to connect to server and not pulling any email.
any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm using the stock client with Exchange 2010 and have no issues. Your link's a 404 so I don't know what you're using.

Playing with the client-side security settings is a great way to screw up an Exchange connection. I'm guessing the cellular IP/protocol that's going through is acceptable to the server and the one using Wi-Fi isn't. Sys admins get big bucks managing Exchange because it's a pain in the ass. I don't know what else to tell you.

I am needing a way to access my global contacts without a server side plugin and found this from ms:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/downloads/global/default.mspx
I just tried it out and keep getting server unavailable errors. A friend of mine on a different exchange server tried it out as well with the same error. We are both running exchange 2003 spk2 and can sync fine otherwise, in fact using push from the new ROM which is working great. Any thoughts? Anyone else care to try it out? Setup is simple, just user pass domain and server address.
tried the check boxes in setup and they didn't seem to make a difference (forms authentication and isa 2004)
Thanks,

btw, I tried to update via wifi and grps and received the same error. the FAQ is useless, evidentally they dont expect you to get unavailable errors.....

Thanks for writing this cause I didn't even know it was possible. All I do is go into contacts, click menu, and click find online. Then type in a name and click find and boom! it's there! no need to enter any server settings.
I'm using the new leaked ROM with push e-mail.
Thanks for the tip, I missed that in the new rom. I was hoping to to use global access to schedule a meeting on our shared global calendar, something I can't do with the new ROM, unless someone else can point to a place where I missed it.
If anyone else loads it, let me know.
Thanks,

I am having problem receiving emails via WiFi, it's automatically trying to download email using EDGE/3G, which is ok, but I would like to save my traffic when I am connected to my home/office WiFi router. Any ideas how can I control which connection to use at a time?
BTW
(I am using WM6.5 Official Rom/TD2 and my wifi connection is working fine, I can browse pages using TD2's Opera)

The settings can be found in Settings\Connections\Connections, but not sure what program you can use to schedule connections.
You can also set Gmail as your exchange server if you still can't connect through WiFi.

thanks... I got it!!! It's working, I changed the network settings to work and thats it!
Hi.
I have configured my HD2 to connect to my mailserver via IMAP. I can receive just fine but I cannot send. I get this error:
The message(s) could not be sent. Check that you have network coverage and that your account information is correct. Then try sending again.
My settings are correct. I use the exact settings to connect my Mac Mail to my server, and I use the exact same settings to connect my android phone to my server. But this HD2 with WM6.5 is giving me problems sending emails out.
For outgoing, my server listens to both ports 25 and 587, so in my pocket outlook, to use the specific ports I included it in the outgoing URL mail.domain.com:587.
I have tried all sorts of combinations, none seem to work.
Please advice.
Thanks
bump anyone? I know it's an issue with WM 6.1...but I have WM 6.5....any ideas?? I already called TMO and the tech I spoke with has no clue what to do...
hey anyone care to chime in?? Really need to get my IMAP sending emails....
Thanks

I've seen a few posts on T-Mobile's HD2 forum where some people had to change the connection used by the SMTP server in Advanced Settings. Don't recall if it should have been "T-Mobile Data" or "T-Mobile Internet".
Thanks! Uhmm... any link you can point me to? I'm really lost here and I've googled for days without any feasible solution. I've found a microsoft patch for the same exact issue but it was for WM 6.1 not 6.5....
thanks again.
I'm actually having the same issue with my gmail account. I set it up and it doesn't take my password. I've verified its the correct password by going to gmail but its still not taking it.
I don't think its a carrier issue as its doing the same thing with wifi.
I'm having the same issue, I can recieve, but cannot send. I ask TMO CSR, but they couldn't help me.
I think the problem is the pocket outlook program itself. I installed flexmail and it works fine, although I do not like flexmail's interface.
Any suggestion?
If it helps we are trying to connect to a mailenable mailserver.
I have tried the built in app and touchdown, but both can't resolve our company exchange mail server. I even tried browsing to mail.mycompany.com and it gives me a 404 error...where as any other device pull it up just fine.
Thoughts?
did you try owa.mycompany.com?

My company doesn't use that DNS name...only mail.mycompany.com Which my iPhone pulls up fine in a web browser..and syncs up to in the mail settings.
it seems the EVO doesn't have a DNS resoloution for the address..
Okay this is funny.
Can anyone tell me if in your web browser you can get to www.continental.com or coair.com?
Yes to the first no to the second.
Same as ^.
Yes to the one you mentioned in PM. With /OWA and /Exchweb trailing the OWA web address.
This was tested on the EVO 4G phone.
I am able to get it resolved through the Mail app as well. Of course I can't get in
I can get in and I'm reading your email right now.
Is there anything you need to know in particular? Your 4:30 appointment has been canceled.
kidding of course

Lmao, if I have an appointment at 4:30 I'll cancel it myself!
Seems to be an issue with my location...if I move far enough to change towers it all works...if I move back to my office...the entire internet, except anything from my company works.
I canceled the appointment for you at 4:30pm! haha.
Update your Profile and your PRL again. It helped me with some things such as web pages not completing initially when I first picked up the phone.
I have done the OTA update as well and Revoked Root.
Hope that helps. That's really strange the towers would effect DNS resolution or IP blocks
Did you download too much "pron" from that tower and it blacklisted you?

Question , are you trying to access it from within your company wireless network , as in , is your WiFi on the phone turned on and connected to your works network , in many cases you cant access that kind of stuff from within the network.
just a thought.

No, wish I could though...they have our wireless network setup with AD authetication. Either way, it wouldn't explain why www.continental.com wouldn't come up.

Are you sure you have all the proper settings for Exchange on the EVO? I do not recommend accepting the 'automatic detect' settings for Exchange synchronization - on the initial screen, select manual setup and make sure you get everything right.
You will need your username/pw of course, but also the OWA site address and domain name. You might want to double-check with your IT department for the right settings.
Finally, if certain websites aren't popping up, I would update your PRL - this should clear up any data service issues.
All that had been done. Was not a settings issue.

I've not had any luck getting the mail client to get pushed email from OWA on my EVO either. I had this setup on my Blackberry before, but it isn't working out for me with the default mail client. I am using the following settings for Exchange Active/sync. If anything stands out to any of you, please feel free to let me know, this is my first droid device.
Exchange ActiveSync
Email address: (my email address for work)
Server address: (owa.company name.com/owa) since our company upgraded to Exchange 2007, we have had to put the "/owa" at the end of the URL to authenticate.
Domain: Active Directory domain for work
Username: GUID used to authenticate within active directory
Password: password used to authenticate within active directory
I have tried with SSL and without, to make sure that wasn't the culprit, but no change in results.
Not trying to hijack, just didn't want to start another thread for the same issue. If I'm out of my lane with this post please let me know.

Sorry all, but I kept poking around with it and after submitting this response I was able to get it to work. The only change I made was as follows:
Exchange ActiveSync
Email address: (my email address for work)
Server address: (owa.company name.com) Even though authenticating via web browser requires "/owa" at the end of the URL, i removed it and got the results I was looking for.
Domain: left this field blank
Username: Domain/GUID (used to authenticate within active directory)
Password: password (used to authenticate within active directory)
Enabled SSL
Not sure if this will assist anyone, but thought I'd post the results that worked for me.

My issue was not at all related to mail...it was a DNS issue with Sprint. It seems they have resolved the issue on their end.
EDIT: grats on getting it working
Simple resolution then:
1. Double-check all your Exchange settings, including SSL (which is a requirement, unless your IT department is a bunch of idiots).
2. If you can't browse to some websites, then you have an issue with your Sprint service, such as DNS as the OP has posted.

I had the exact same issue. Sprint released an update the other day that corrected my issue but it wasnt immediate.
If you are not sprint based, you are going to need the update from your provider
Hmmm that is bad i just have a free tab without carrier so i have to ask samsung for support, because it seems not to be a carrier problem, but a email app problem. Could you provide me your email.apk please?

I was connecting using PPTP and got the same problem. Try changing to IPSEC and see if your administrator can give you a password. That should solve the problem. Mine is working fine now.

Hi kiawui this problem does not have something to do with vpn.

Try mine, if you want. This is from an unlocked, unbranded European Tab, that I can personally confirm works fine with Exchange at our office.

Thanks, but this is the same that i have on my tab.
Probably i have to wait for the other version.
one ODEX file....coming up!

Iwill try that and report afterwards then. Hopefully it will be no issue with the ssl certificates

I'm also from Switzerland. (My Tab is from digitec.) But I've also problems to connect with our corporate Exchange 2010 SP1.
Just for verification: your Tab can sync with a Exchange 2010 SP1? the service pack is the important thing. As I know there is no problem if you have not installed it.
Thanks for your reply.

Best bet is to switch to TouchDown for Exchange support. Much better than the inbuilt free apps.

Currenty I use Moxier which also works good. But the buildin calendar as the contacts too would I like to use in the native apps

Hi Adrian,
It has nothing to do with the passwords, it is an EAS/Provision Problem for Android which is fixed in 2.2.1 and the funny thing is that my Galaxy S is working fine with the same Exchange, but the Tab is not, as i heard Sprint fixed that somehow.
I could rip Samsungs Heads of, for letting people buy their stuff and not supporting it then.
I have had the same problem across multiple devices. I stumbled on a solution yesterday and I now have exchange access using vanilla froyo (removed the blur) on my droid x and thankfully on my tab. I had been using Touchdown Exchange from the market for 8 months now and am always frustrated with the fairly regular database corruption problems on my android devices. Here is what I did...
After receiving the 'unable to connect' message for the hundredth time, I connected via wifi to my network AT WORK, where the exchange server is located. (I was on the actual domain locally) I cleared the cache and data from the email app and went through the setup again, manually. Voila, it connected, authenticated and I am now setup via push on my tab.
I wonder if it has to do with receiving the certificate from the server...
Hope this may help some of you.
It has been syncing fine over 3G ever since.
