Hi all,
I have been using the Android HD2 with no problems for nearly a year now, but recently when I reflashed the HD2, I wasn't able to gain root. I have flashed back to Windows Mobile, tried AD Hardreset on MAGLDR, wiped data, cache, dalvik cache, fix permissions and reformatted the sd card and changed sd cards. I have even downloaded a new copy of HSPL2, MAGLDR, CWM and the Android zip. The phone just refuses to root. The ROM is capable of rooting as I have been using the same ROM as before and it had root. Please help and thank you. Your help would be very much appreciated.

NAND does not support HSPL3 ,must be HSPL 2. You have to downgrade it.

I have downgraded to HSPL 2 before but it does no difference. Have just downgraded again and done a full reflash of MAGLDR, CWM and Android but still the same results. I will try again now.
EDIT: Still does not work. Please help. On HSPL 2 now.
Bump... Someone please help?

Thanks for the suggestion, but as I have said, I have did so. Just tried it again, flashed to windows mobile 6.5 ( stock ) , then flashed a new radio and did a hardreset. Then flashed back to android. Tried a few android roms but still no root. Anyone can help?
Try to use SuperOneClick (Windows Software, google it with "xda"), and see what happens.

after I flash with CWM, I get this when it trys to boot android "nand kernel open failed"
Also, in CWM, I get "E:Can't find misc"
installing nand without CWM works.
bump- I searched and didn't find anything helpful. I've tried 3 different roms
"Can't find misc" should only appear if you don't have a misc partition in NAND. (which is created when flashing CWM)
And nand kernel open failure probably means theres no zImage or initrd.gz in the boot partition.
Try flashing CWM from the CWM thread and then a ROM.

How did you transfer the zip file to SD? Did you use magldr? If so try re-transfering using your comp, as Magldr sometimes corrupts them.

Typhoon doesn't use 250mb CWM, use the one provided with rom 150MB System/5MB Cache (ClockworkMod Recovery v3.0.2.5), most "nand kernel open failed" are down to wrong CWM size
I'm getting the same error, but only with sense 3.0 roms. Any other roms I've used have installed have worked. Is there a certain step I'm missing with installing sense 3.0 roms? I'm using MAGLDR v1.13 and Clockwork Recovery Mod v3.0.2.5. I flashed recovery_150m_cache_5m.zip onto the phone using magldr usb flasher. Any ideas?

150mb for sense rom is definitely to low!
Read the rom's thread carefully guys!
It says there what CWR partition is needed.
Sense roms need SD CARD PARTITION so read the thread (it's first page).
If you have read it and your CWR partition looks exactly as it was given in the rom's thread then do task29, hspl, magldr 1.13 and CWR.
If it still doesn't work try different roms or try CLK.
Thanks for the response. How do I create a 5/240/5 partition through CWR? The last partition I made was just installed through .zip on CWR. Sorry for the questions, new to the hd2.
do all beginners understand this? you are probably putting the 'clk' version of the rom in your storage card for installation. you need the 'magdlr' version of the rom for clockwork mod to correctly install android

Hi guys, i had the same problem, and i figured maybe i can show u what i did, to help u.
i went to THIS thread and followed the instructions:
"Installation Guide for MAGLDR 1.13"
the error occured right after i flashed the MAGLDR_CWM_Recovery_v3.2.0.0_for_NexusHD2_135M.zip onto my HTC HD2.
the only thing i had to do was enter magldr boot menu (hold off button while booting)
then i choose AD RECOVERY
CWM started up and i choose install zip from SD card
ofcourse i have placed NexusHD2-Gingerbread_V3.0_NAND_(Android-2.3.5).zip onto the ROOT of my SD card previously.
the .zip file installed perfectly and then i rebooted my phone.
all was ok after that..
hope this helps!

Hey,
I recently tried to overwrite windows with gingerbread on my HD2, as I was doing it something went wrong, and basically it didn't install android and it wiped windows, my phone no longer has ANY operation system, what it does have however is MAGLDR 1.13, that's about it, oh I did manage to put HSPL 2.08 too, but that's it.
If you could please help me it would be much appreciated And step by step please, I'm not amazing at this.
Thank you
Go into Magldr and re-flash CWM with the correct partition size for the ROM you want to install, then put the ROM on your sd card and flash it from CWM. As long as you have HSPL and Magldr on your phone, you will be able to install an Android ROM on your phone. Go into the HD2 Android NAND section and there are sticky threads up at the top of the forum with instructions for how to do everything you need.
Use the toolkit in the nand section to add recovery and latest magldr. Then flash rom of your choice from recovery.
I can't flash recovery. When I tried flash recovery then phone is stuck and flasher on PC finished with error. I tried flash WM65 and after flash CWM again, but nothing. Also tried task 29.
Any ideas?

sequence;
first check your device if it is 2.08.HSPL, and format your sdcard ext3 or ext4 and 1gb. insert it to your device.
1. task29
2. radio rom 2.15.50.14
3. magldr 1.13
4. recovery 5.0.2.6
5. clear cache and dalvik cache.

Yeah, for once I give a +1 to Task29, although it isn't really necessary most of the time. Can you flash a stock ROM via the SD card? You said that you tried to flash WinMo then CWM again, but you didn't say whether or not it actually worked.

WinMO work fine, but CWM still not working, stuck, stuck, stuck...
1) flash official WM6.5 ROM
2) task29
3) magldr
4) cwm (there phone is stuck)
sequence is important!!!. and also it depends on your android rom.
i hope you dont have any other hardware problem.

Mmm..
Just checking
1. have you checked that you have 2.08.HSPL installed? (power on with Volume down)
2. Have checked that installation of Radio_Leo_2.15.50.14 was successful?
3. No problems with flashing the MAGLDR? (Do you get the menu when you press and hold POWER?
4. Did you flash the 250 Mb version of recovery succesful? (Recovery_v1.3_250M.zip)
Please note that as soon as you performed a DAF flash in between, your Recovery does not work anymore.
My reccomendation is that you perform all these tasks using HD2-Tool which is absolutely brilliant. If it doe not work tryu again from the start. (try it without SIM card and SD Card in your phone till you get Recovery working)
(I did this when I bricked one of my 2 HD2's, and was able to get it up and running again)
Good luck!!
strange that winmo is running fine, how about giving clk a try.
Have u tried to flash stock WM 6.5?

1. It's MAGLDR, not MAGDRL
2. You need HSPL2.08 for MAGLDR, not 3.03
This is the way of install NAND Android ROM; You must flollow this sequence;
first check your device if it is 2.08.HSPL,
1. do task29
2. install radio rom 2.15.50.14
3. install magldr 1.13
4. do recovery 5.0.2.6(or clk)
5. Format your sd, create ext3(or ext4) partition
6. do clear cache and dalvik cache.
7. Choose your android ROM .zip file and copy it to your sdcard, load into magldr recovery and enjoy...
and this is the tools that you will need.

Task29 isn't necessary (usually it does nothing to help), and there's no point installing MAGLDR then installing cLK right afterwards.
so, i have normally a spl 3.03 using hspl4 can I install 2.08 HSPL doesnt brick my phone?? thanks
yes you can. "HD2 toolkit" consists HSPL3 tool. And you can install 2.08.HSPL.

AFAIK, nothing different other than the fact that HSPL4 supports flashing from stock SPL 3.03 (i.e. Stock ROM 3.14) to a HSPL version (inc. HSPL 3.03)

Hi, thank you for all of your help and assistance.
It was all down to selecting the correct partitions (and me getting over enthusiastic in flashing roms and not reading FULLY on how and what partitions are required)
I have used HD2 Nand toolkit, and partitioned MAGLDR, then partitioned SD card within Clockworkmod.
Thank you all again for pointing me in the right direction...
Good Evening All,
I am sorry if this has been covered. I have searched the forums but cannot find an answer.
I have read all the FAQ and How-to's.
I am not an exact newbie, I have owned a HD2 before (about 2 years ago) and could install all sorts of different roms (including NAND)
I have Installed my Radio 2.15.50.14
I have installed HARD SPL 2.08
I have Installed MAGdlr 1.13
I ahve installed clockwork mod recovery 1.3 with 400M
Copied rom to root of SD Nexus HD2 jellybean v1.2 [dataonext]
and I have installed Nexus HD2 jellybean v1.2 [dataonext]
this installed fine,
I then decided to try another,
I downloaded QSEA_JB-MUSIC EDITION_V1 and placed on root of SD,
I booted into Magldr, then into clockwork mod
from here i wipe data, and factory reset,
wipe cache partition
and wiped delvic cache.
Then i install zip from sd card QSEA_JB-MUSIC EDITION_V1
when this is done,
It asks me to reboot,
Then it stays on the boot screen, and the rom does not load.....
I can restore the back up from the original rom install. but whatever rom I install (from Nand rom downloads) none of them install...
Please help...

1-Why? Use the HD2 NAND Toolkit to partition your system according to the developer.
2- Never reboot directly from the "reboot now" option of amarullz's installer. Instead, uncheck the "reboot now" option, click finish and reboot manually from CWM.
(The reboot option somehow makes your rom not boot, at least that happens to me every time)

I don't use magldr, so I am not sure.
But I think you have to "MAGLDR recovery update" first, and then after it finishes you have to "magdlr repartition". Im not sure though.
How do I just install clockwork mod? Without using Magldr?
If I Task29 first,
What's my next step.....?
After Task29 (don't do task29 again) you have to do the following: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25781675#post25781675 until you see the "recovery" .. from there, dont continue to flashing wp7, just put your rom on your sd and flash it from recovery. (don't forget to thank the the one who made the thread/guide)
Don't forget to NOT use 300mb, but use the one written on your rom's thread.

You can't have CWM without MAGLDR. If you've flashed CWM you shouldn't have lost MAGLDR at all, so I don't know what you did wrong. Task 29s are also almost always useless and unnecessary, if a guide says 'task 29' as the first step then usually you can just skip that part. I find that the best guide is the one in my sig, try it out.
