Hi all, love all the custom roms for this device. Just about tried them all lol. Quick??? ... has the ability to save apps to SD card been implemented yet like on the android phone roms? I have downloaded the similar programs that I use to enable and move the apps on my phone but there is no move to SD card button on the tablet. Any info on this? Thanks all!

Afaik there aren't any as of yet. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
it is true, but with 32GB you have plenty of space, so it is really not urgent.

Agree. I just slapped a nice 32gb microsd and a 32 gb USB stick in mine to carry a pretty decent amount of media and stuff. And with support for a external hdd - that 16gb or 32gb of system storage goes a long damn way. I only have the 16gb model and have more stuff on this thing then I can even deal with

yeah, do I really need to move app2sd for Galaxy Note? What's benefit if I do this?
I was previously using Nexus One, and of course I need it bcoz not enough internal space. But now Galaxy Note has like at least 14Gb, so I really need a move? Will it save more battery if app2sd?
of the 16gb we are given, only 2gb is allocated to apps. although most apps are smart nowadays and will install the bulk of the game data to the SD card, or in our case, the HDD.
wont really save more battery if you use apps to sd.
and you dont need to install apps to SD. its somewhat integrated into gingerbread. just go to settings, applications, manage applications, tap on the application, and theres a 'move to sd card' button here.
I used a 1Gb partition for apps2sd on my Nexus One, so 2Gb is plenty for me.

oh wtf?! only allocated 2Gb for apps?! that's ridiculous! waste of the rest of free space! bcoz my mp3s are in external 32Gb card and more than enough.
Without any apps2sd for now, I still have 784Mb free....

looks like you've downloaded a lot, lol. just use the apps to sd integrated into gingerbread that i mentioned above.
pretty much all manufacturers stick with 2gb as the general amount of space to allocate for apps. they have to account for the average media user - which will use more music and video than apps, and then the power user - which will use more apps/games than music and videos.
on my old n900, it was possible to resize the apps partition, im sure theres someone out there who knows how to do it for android if you need more space.

Yes, many useful apps for daily use for me. now many new Android apps are in larger size and no app2sd function unless you root it, but I am not gonna root my Galaxy Note. Before I thought it's like iPhone, all spaces can use for apps... Sigh...
I did root for my Nexus One bcoz it had only 500mb for apps @@

Hi Souai, what can you say about this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1332244
Someone there says you can't fully utilize the Note's sd card for apps because of the directory structure, although another one was confident that you can indeed install apps to your sd card.

its the same as was on my atrix. not everyone uses SD cards, and SD cards are also removable, so rather than having people hotswap an SD card and lose some of their apps when using another app function, manufacturers have started renaming the onboard storage as 'SDCard' in an attempt to make it more usable for consumers.
so if its like my atrix, moving it to the SD card will just move it to the onboard storage. for the OP, its fine since it will use the other large chunk of the 16gb onboard storage that he hasnt really used yet.
dunno about needing root access to run apps to sd. it ran fine for me on my atrix on froyo without root access. but then due to the labelling structure of the onboard storage, it just moved the data to the onboard storage.
generally, its not an issue unless you think you'll really need more than 16/32gb of apps storage in this case.

I get ya, but the answer to that potential horror is "folders". I currently use an iPhone 4 and have installed over 250 apps, but I only use 3 home screens - everything is neat and tidy. I'm planning to do the same when I get the Note.

I've seen where apps can be moved to the sd card but normally it's not by default. But as far as roms go some have things which are similar which have the ability to move to sd but samsung in general seems to be a bit weary on having them there by default

Some roms do include that option, I've found personally on my own tab 2 that the swap still somehow manages to not completely work like it should.
I ran out of storage for new apps a long time ago. My device is kind of useless for new things because there is no internal memory for INSTALLING APPS, even after removing 75% of my apps which includes system apps. There is just no more space. It still has 2gb of internal memory left BUT THAT CANNOT BE USED FOR INSTALLING APPS, stupidly. There are 8GB of total internal storage space.
I have plenty of storage for data. Just not for apps. I have a 32GB SD card as well.
App2SD apps, I maximized all possible data to be moved.
Apps with data larger than 20MB I just deleted the whole apps.
Still no more space.
Additionally, it means I CANNOT use this tablet for things like games, or for storing map data from gopilot live as a backup in case my phone dies. Which is VERY limiting. Especially because I used to like to play games on it but I had to remove all the games to make way for utilities.
Thus I DESPERATELY NEED to be able to install UNLIMITED NUMBER OF APPS using the SD card for internal storage.
I tried the vold.fstab method HERE, but it did not work.
PLEASE HELP!!! THANK YOU!!!
p.s. I WOULD BUY A NEW TABLET WITH MORE MEMORY BUT NO 7.0 INCH TABLET EXISTS THAT IS BETTER THAN THE TAB 4 BECAUSE THEY ARE ALL MAKING HUGE 8.0 and 8.4 INCH TABLETS THAT ARE TOO BIG SO I AM STUCK WITH THE TAB 4.

i'd say you just need test different apps all over and over akd different methods from XDA, i have on my phone sdcard as internal memory but same method wont work on tab 4..... you should use folder mount to move appdata to sdcard and use it from there, it helps if you have big app data on internal sd card.

No I tried that already. It does Not work because of the error "this has been limited due to kitkat so you're not authorized" or something to that extent. It's not an error, it is a limitation of the kitkat (and all subsequent) operating systems. Google did that on purpose to try to force people to have to upgrade their phone.

Cyanogenmod isn't an extreme solution, it runs better than touchwiz IMO and it takes up significantly less memory, which is a fact. It's more like saying, "I don't like Windows," and the reply being, "You should try out Ubuntu," especially since both cyanogenmod, like Ubuntu, is completely free

Waiting for a real solution to the actual problem.
uh if youre not ready to install different rom i guess theres no solution
I'm having the exact same dilemma. In my case, not going to CM (or another rom/firmware/kernel..) is due to the fact that my children use the tablets, so the KidsMode needs to work. I've looked at that one from Zoodles, and its rubbish compared to the Samsung one available on their Galaxy devices. My original post never had any reply other than my own update.
By the way: I'm still searching for a solution to this... If only Samsung would/could release Marshmallow on this tablet, the Adoptable Storage option could be used...
Now, if you can just hold your breath...
lol I know right...?
Full disclosure: I've given up hope of finding a solution that will work with (essentially) stock 4.4.2, so now I'm looking into how to get the TouchWiz framework to run on a rom/kernel that DOES support support an external/internal swap.
Of course, that does nothing to help the OP, but IMO the best solution has already been presented to him: Install a custom ROM that supports what he needs. It's still the best solution since there don't seem to be any TouchWiz-dependent apps he needs.
Years later still no solution

If you are willing to root your device you can use Apps2sd to actually move(link) whole app into sd card.
You'll need to repartition your sd card to do it, but there are good guides to do it.
EDIT:
Oh it's renamed app2sd but here is the link https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=in.co.pricealert.apps2sd&hl=fi for it
you can also try link2sd app

That's very limited and actually doesn't do anything more than the native android system does already, ever since about 2013 or so

I don't know about how limited it is, but it's completly different than native android moving apps to sd. Linking is like actually increasing your devices internal memory(not really but somethign like that). Also it's easiest/(propably)best way to get more memory for apps.
Ok guys need some help from experts.
I am trying to move some apps from internal storage to my SD card, but during the app transfer I receive a message of not enough space for transfer. I have a 128 GB from SanDisk with 50% of free space. The game I am trying to move to SD card has more or less 800Mbytes of size. So I have much more space than the necessary.
Looking in the internet I found some users with similar problems and they solve it leaving the SD card with less than 32GB of free space since it seems that android has problems with more than 32 GB.
But I really want to believe there is a better solution since we a talking about Android 6.01 and S7 Edge.
Anyone knows a better solution for this?
Thanks
Eduardo

No I have not tried. I dont want to use an extra app to simply move my applications. It should be simple. But if there is no other way I will try.
Thanks

Sorry to revive this thread but I am just curious if you ever found a solution or did you use an app instead?
How does the SD card storage work in the G6? I'm concerned about storage space with the 32g internal storage being the only option. I don't download that many apps but I guess with podcasts and audio books I run into capacity issues with a 32g phone. My understanding is with Nougat you can use the SD card for apps etc more so than you could in the past. Could someone please shed some light on how this works with the G6?

LG removed adaptable storage option. This tool works great for me.
Thanks. I'll take a look at it. I haven't bought the G6 yet and I'm a little concerned about having to rely on a hack. I wonder why they removed the adaptable option
Almost all brands removed this feature...
As far as I know, only HTC leaved it available for the customer without the need to do anything funny.

You can also just enable Force Allow Apps on External in developer options.

I enabled Force Allow Apps on External, and it wont allow me to move any more apps that I couldn't already move by just going into each app and changing the storage to SD.
Is there something else that needs to be done?

Hi guys,
a quick question: as I used this tool the overall consumption of memory in my original internal memory seems to be higher than I expected.
So I added up the space needed by the apps on the new internal SD card and this fit. So it seems that the internal SD card things that the Apps are installed there, but the internal memory shows them in them from the storage consumption.
Is that just a bug (or "feature") of the LG due to the fact that they do not increase the overall free space available (with the internal SD card)?
And if this is so, can I just keep installing apps right after 32Gb are full or will the phone still stop accepting that?
Does anybody knows more about that?
Best regards and thanks for the help!
