move the keyboard to internal memory and say your task killer to leave it alone!

Weird answer dude...
Advanced Task manager 4.1 can do this...also it has a widget to auto end applications and you can exclude apps from being killed
Nah, he's right. Its not Windows--you dont need to monitor the usage of resources by killing all running operations. By doing so, you end up just using more resources and wasting the battery just that much faster.
Thanks for the info guys.

Autokiller dose do a good job tweeking the task handling of android

Are you running any task killers?
Have you rooted?
Need to know more to help diagnose if this is fixable.

Phone is not rooted and i am using advance task killer+ adw launcher.
Suggest you try not using ATK for a while... my phone was laggy when I used it... much better since... (and battery better too)..
ATK is ok, if you're only using it to kill something that you know is problematic.. but I don't use anything like that at all now.
It worked for me.. give it a try..
Trust in Android ;-)

Hey guys. Does the HTC Legend automatically close programs after pressing the home button or the "backarrow"? My Legend seems to get slower when i've had a lot of programs open?
I've heard about some Androids which doesn't do it.
Android does it. So all Android devices will kill tasks eventually. Pressing the back button until you're back at the homescreen will ensure that the app is closed properly. If you press the home button it will "minimize" the app, and it will run in the background. If you have apps in the background then Android will eventually kill them when it needs the memory. Don't use a task killer.

Why not? I use it on occasion, I's good to have a controll over your phone, plus I'm not sure how android handles turning those apps off when screen is turned off...So by killing before turning screen-off should preserve battery...no?

Well, its a much-debated issue. But in my personal experience, if I dont use task-killers, my legend becomes too sluggish. I would recommend all Legend users to use one.
In my personal opinion, Relying on Andoid's own task management might be ok for high end devices with more RAM. but not for devices with low memory like legend.
Same here but after 2-3 days even task killers don't work, only rebooting works

I haven't used a task killer on my Legend in 5 months, and it never gets sluggish. Regardless of whether ir not I use CM.

That's the only proper way to do it:L Ya, i restart my phone once a day and it never gets really sluggish!
I barely ever reboot my phone.

It's really an interesting read, and although I have Taskiller installed, I rarely use it. But a thing I've observed is that when I run Quadrant benchmark and kill before, I usually get lower score... it is some time ago I learned this... Apparently there is something to it

I don't use a task killer either and have only noticed my phone get sluggish once after the 2.2 upgrade. In that case it was some app which was being stupid.
Long press the back button while exiting an app...it kills the app...u will never need a taskiller (might not work on stock rom)

I would try wiping and re-flashing the ROM from recovery. If that doesn't work, try wiping rotate stats from recovery.
Which launcher are you using?
If you are using ADW I think there is a setting in the ADW settings that is something like System Persistent. If that is checked the phone wont rotate.
Can't remember for sure but I would have a look.

He can check but normally that option doesn't stop the phone from rotating inside apps.

I think that perhaps you have more important issues to deal with instead of the orientation for your device. If you keep posting threads in such a manner people won't take you seriously. Like myself. Good luck to you.
So I have installed Thumb Keyboard and I have it selected as my default because I feel it is more accurate than the stock selection. What I have noticed is that for whatever reason the tab changes the keyboard back to original default on its own, it chooses DioPen Chinese IME. What would cause this to happen?
Sent from my GT-P6800 using xda premium
Stop using the task manager to clear RAM. It doesn't do anything useful, but it does reset the keyboard to default.
Ahhh so that's what it is, thanks I was really getting annoyed
