Need some advice please - XPERIA X10 General

Guys due to poor reception in my area with ATT I am looking into Verizon. I don't have any idea which phones to consider. Anybody been with Verizon or knows alot about them.

I guess ask your neighbors who works best in your area.

How is this related to X10i?

No one here would be using verizon because were using x10s so I would try another forum

He obviously has a X10a, look at his username.
X10a will not work with Verizon on 3g network. Before you do anything, find out first from your neighborhood what carrier works best in your area. The phone companies or us won't tell you that. Then you can decide on a device that is supported by your network carrier. Verizon may suck too where you live.

I understand the incompatibility with the x10 due to it being based on GSM versus cdma. I was just hoping that one of the USA people on here had some knowledge on Verizon phones.

convert x10a to x10i

Is there anyway to do this? Change the firmware maybe?
what is the main purpose you need to change from a to i??
You can re-brand it with the x10 firmware. But I dont recommend it cause mine got re-branded into a x10i and I can't get updates from Sony Ericsson. I been trying to brand it back to x10a but having problems.

T-Mobile ONLY

Thread for all T-Mobile only related posts.
Since there is not a thread specifically for individual carriers I figured it would be a good idea to start one for each. Feel free to post anything T-Mobile related.
Has the T-Mobile merger become official yet dry if I'm asking a noob question. Just wanted to know because I heard the FCC was taking opinions from the actual clients that would be affected by the merger.

Nope. Not even close. They won't have a yes or no until at least next April, and even then I'm not sure they will know exactly what they will do, but I'm sure by this years end we should have a good feel for how the answer is going to fall. I personally hope it falls through.

Which T-Mobile? T-Mobile USA? UK? Germany? They're all different companies! The UK one is now owned by Orange, for example!
The world, and the cellphone carriers, are a lot bigger than the USA, y'know.

I know. It's just a start. I only picked the big ones I know off the top of my head. Feel free to add new ones that you know of. I'm waiting to see how many people say what you did. I'm keeping a list. I have Vodafone, Virgin Mobile, Boost, 3, Simple Mobile, Rogers, Bell, and a couple more. I'll be adding soon.

One of Sony's other sites (I forget where...) indicated that at least one ZL model would support AT&T LTE.
What is interesting is that it sounds like (from another thread) that AT&T will not be selling this model - which would make it the first device not sold by AT&T to support their LTE bands. I'm wondering if this might be a sign that AT&T will be allowing their MVNOs to use the LTE network soon???

I would assume the ZL model would be the C6506. From what I've seen from stat sheets it's probably the one coming to North America. In Canada, were getting the ZL, and the C6506 supports our Canadian LTE and HSPA bands.

It's interesting because C6506 will support ALL of our Canadian carrier bands for 2g, 3g AND 4g. One phone everywhere = more support for development and accessories. What's even better is ATT and MetroPCS are also compatible on every respective bands (including LTE)

I was going by what I knew at that time, but it won't be coming from AT&T, only works on it's network. I can't say too much right now other than there is a model that supports AT&T LTE. Don't know when or if it will be sold direct from Sony in the US.
ZL is coming soon.

thanks, i ordered the xperia z from clove 2 days ago (couldn't wait till july for sony to release this in the US) but now i have canceled it, hopefully they'll announce the release date soon.
Is the AT&T variant going to have different specs?
Whatever ATT offers, I hope it retains the ip57 certification. Huge selling(buying) point for me.

Interesting, I spoke with AT&T's premier customer and he said the Z was coming on the 28th of February. Sigh...

A Z for the V?

I'm dying for a worthy replacement for my Razr. I believe I have found it in the z! Any chance we May see it on Verizon's network?

None if you ask me. Sony isn't really bothering with the US this year (focusing on Japan and Europe) and was never big on building phones for Verizon/Sprint.
You're better off switching to T-Mobile or AT&T and getting an unlocked one from Sony.com.

You're most likely to see the UL, as it is designed for networks transitioning from cdmaOne and friends to LTE but not yet finished.

No US carrier support

US carrier will support the phone but they will not ( or maybe ) provide the phone as contract ( or without contract ).
I already have the phone with T-Mobile and I'm living in US.
Enjoy the phone for another month or 2 before the Z3 comes out.
Bad move on Sony part.

It's kinda a good news, think about the freedom you're gonna have to unlock the bootloader, custom ROMs, etc. i don't really care about carrier provided phones anyway. I've been using unlocked/imported phones for many years.

It would be nice if it will have a 32gig version...but it will suck if it becomes like the Z1s that's made of plastic.
