I heard some phones read them but it reduces the performance, whats your performance like?

My phone works pretty well.
Almost all my apps stored in a sd-ext partition, I also got a SWAP partition and the phone almost never freeze.
If you know about any app that does a stress check for the card I'll be happy to put it to the test

any chance of a speed test screen shot? SD tools free from the market that just tests the write/read speed of your card and would be helpful as mines only class 4 and i get 5.5MB/s writing speed and 14.1 MB/s reading speed what make is your card ?
I've made 2 tests, using your requested app and a computer program called 'h2testw'
somehow using my laptop's card reader gave my lower reading speeds..
ohh, and the card maker is Kingmax.

Thanks dude, looks compatible after all
you are welcome mate, enjoy your new purchase
I have seen good performance out if mine. I was able to find a 8gb class 10 transcend pretty cheap so I bought 2. I will say if you buy one especially if you get it off ebay as soon as you get it test it out to make sure it lives up to what it says. Some SD cards have a memory hack that will make them say 8gb on your phone/computer but its not till you test it out that you find out its really only a 4gb.

i would never buy sd card/battery from ebay, as i bought a battery from there when i first got phone (HAD NO CLUE BACK THEN) suppose to be 1600 mah but lasted same as original so thought hmm that's odd and it wasn't until i got battery monitor widget pro until i seen 1250mah under that same battery...
I can transfer to the SD using Android USB Mount at >10 MB/s, proving that the phone hardware itself IS capable of fully utilizing a class 10 SD.
In fact, this is how I transfer ZIP updates for TyphooN CyanogenMod.
@LaneyEFC
I know exactly what you mean. I bought two batteries that were suppose to be 1600ma only to find out they were 1400ma. Not to big of a difference but worth noting. About SD cards though I bought none from there as well and hadn't had a problem. The key is to buy a name brand and not the generic grab that seems to clutter up eBay. Besides $15 for a 8gb transcend class 10 was worth the gamble and I'm very happy with the results.

am going a bit large on my sd card as i have only a sandisk class 4 16gb but willing to pay 30+ for a good one and i think i found it which is the Samsung 16gb class 10 i found in my first post which is £22.49 Pre-ordered it for release on the 1st august and theres no way am buying a single thing without knowing its genuine before purchase
That's exactly why you should always buy a trusted name brand that's still in its original packaging I think.

A friend of mine just got one off eBay and it was actually a 2gb with a 3 stamped on it. The card read as a 32 then only held 2. The seller played dumb and my friend got a refund less shipping and handling.

Wow, at least he got a refund. So they are stamping 3's on 2 gb cards and calling them 32? What's the point of that when there's a huge difference in storage? Most people get 32 cards because they need the space. Ill be testing mines as soon as it gets here.

Why don't you wait until the SD card slot is enabled on the Xoom before buying it since the price will probably go down by then.
I recently got a 16GB Class 6 from Ebay for my phone and it turned out it was corrupt and then when I looked at the Kingston site, they didn't manufacture any class 6 cards, only 4 and 10...
from memory when reading around the site I've seen recommendations for SanDisk/ADATA cards...
any more recommendations on good manufacturers?
The only time I got screwed was when I bought a 2GB SD card on eBay but it turned out to be only 1GB. They even fake the labels so from now on it's only amazon or NewEgg for me! I have ADATA, SanDisk, and Transcend microSD cards and they work just fine with the Nook Color.
Through my channels the only decent 32 GB cards I found were through Lexar, class 10. I should receive a pair of them today, they were $97 via CDW.
There were other 32 gig cards, but class 2/4 and nearly the same price.
New Lexar card is working in my EVO, loaded it up with all the data off of the previous 16 GB card I had before. Looking forward to using the SD card slot in the Xoom as soon as it is enabled.

Lexar? I'll look into that, I have a good one now from Memorette. It's been awesome this past week.
Why don't we use sandisk since all manufacturers seem to supply our phones with sandisk card. I mean, it's better than risking and waiting. The they're roughly the same price anyways

i only use Sandisk. Lexar is not a brand i would use personally.
i plan to get it direct from verizon with my 25% discount. they are more expensive at VZW but they are guaranteed the real deal and no issues. plus verizon have local stores so i can get support locally should anything go wrong.

I'm an Audio Visual Technician and always have to purchase SD cards for clients when doing digital recording...A while ago I had purchase 3 Sandisk 32GB Micro SDs for cost price ($85 w/free shipping) along with 3 Sandisk CF 16GB Extreme IVs for my Canon 5D Mark2 at $150 a piece...
never had any problems with any Sandisk products so I tend to stick to them...but it always comes down to personal preference in the end...that's why we all got the XOOM instead of the [email protected]

Why not? I have personally used Sandisk, Kingston, Lexar, and I'm sure a few other major brands, and have not noticed a difference between them during use.
I have found them to be equally reliable, assuming you are purchasing them from a reputable supplier.
having some issues with my sd card ..its a king stone 16gb(bought it at amazon.com its real) class 10 when trying to record in HD camera fails if i switch to internal memory camera works fine
Im using a 32gb sandisk class 4 I bought from ebay for 45. Ive got it filled with 29gb of mixed media.
Im pretty sure you know this but even though you bought it from amazon.com doesnt mean it came from amazon. Most of there items come from outsider merchants that are just like ebay sellers. Ive bought bogus items or the same cheap china knockoff items just like ebay. At one point amazon was selling those fake psn cards.
Plus Ive never personally heard of the card your using. I know big companies like sandisk sell there bad cards to others and they rebrand and sell at a cheap price.
had to edit, Im guessing you meant kingston which is a great brand of sd cards. But still could be going faulty. Maybe try a reformat of your sd and see if that solves any problems.

According to other members, Sandisk class 2 is one of the best for NOOK, 4GB seems to be low (the ROM itself - /system - doesn't take that much) for storage but you actually have at least 1GB on eMMC or potential 5GB (if v1.1 or re-partition)
uSD = µ for microSD
Extensive testing, many MicroSD purchases later, and near a dozen SanDisk MicroSD cards says that this link:

I've put a lot of work/research into this running from the MicroSD card issue, see my sig for the two threads you should read to understand it.

Sweet! Thank you, mine is already on it's way.
I know you'll like it - it's great to be able to take the guesswork out of finding something that works so well.
These cards were originally found by user busyworked, and he put quite a bit of research into tracking down model numbers to locate these specific cards.
The original post is Here.
One of the things that makes this community so fantastically great, is the amount of work that people put into this stuff on their spare time. By keeping the record straight for who found (or did) what, we can keep building on that knowledge without crossing the same ground. It's also great to make sure the right people get credit for what they've done.
I'd hate to take credit for anothers discovery, just want to make sure others know how much effort he put into finding that gem of a card. I didn't have enough time earlier to link the post, but the shopping link was a shortcut on my desktop and quick to call up.

I got this card but it came "oem" No packaging and couldn't tell if it was new. It wasn't described as oem in packaging from Etech, very annoyed by this.
Keep your fingers crossed that it isn't a counterfeit.
Yeah, I hope it works when mine arrives too.
Sent from my NookColor using XDA Premium App
I have one of these, it outperforms every other card i've been able to get my hands on.
Forget what the packaging was like when it came in, but shipping was quick.
It's marked in the same fashion as another SanDisk (8 gig class 4) card I bought at Radio Shack.
My 8 gb sandisk from etech was in new retail packaging.
My 16 gb sandisk from etech was OEM (no package, no nothing for that matter).
The 16 gb sandisk seems to work just fine, I've had it for about a week and a half on my nook color as it's primary sd card with emmc with cm7.
After thinking about it more deeply, my 16gig card came in just the small plastic case with a full sized sdcard adapter, no original packaging.
I run my OS from the card, not emmc, and it is fantastically better then other microsd cards i've used.
It doesn't bother me that it wasn't advertised about the packaging, but I can certainly see how some(probably most) people would be ticked about it. I concede without question the legitimacy of the argument.
I defray the idea that the card may have been previously used by the amount of business the company does. I think they pump more volume out then they could keep track of an 'employee loaner program' or whatever.
At least this thread has borne out this fact, so we can say buyer beware of the packaging issue.
That said, it's still the best MicroSD card we know of - unless some of the people researching the "operating system from MicroSD" situation have some hidden gem they aren't talking about.
(I sincerely doubt this, it's like the complete opposite of the spirit of the place we are in...tantamount to committing sacriledge in a church or something)
Sorry, I didn't think to mention this.
Both 16gig cards I ordered from there came in OEM packaging, didn't seem like a big deal to me at the time.
I never considered any of the thoughts surrounding that revelation, or I would have made it known up front.
My apologies.
(still a rockin' card though)
I'm happy with mine. Can't beat the $17 Amazon/etech charged. Aside from the shipping envelope it came in, packaging looks just like I'd see it on the shelf at walmart...
Works great too!

I really don't see a difference between makers all that often. If newegg ships to your country take a look at their cards. I would, for a 32 reccomwnd a class 4 or 6 because of the size of the card

I just ordered yesterday a Sandisk 32GB class 4 for 46€ on amazon.fr.
http://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B00...ils?ie=UTF8&me=&qid=1315820052&sr=8-1&seller=
I guess you can find similar deals in the UK.
This class4 has been tested on XDA, for sequential writes it reaches 6MB/s and it is faster than most other cards (including class 6 and 10) for writing small files.
i dont really believe in theses "class's" think its a scam to pay more for something that sounds better but isnt any differnet from any other well know popular SD card.. long sentance hahah
i bought a MUSTANG brand (german brand) 32gb microSD card class 10. it works perfectly and is very fast.the price is 80€ on ebay.
Upgraded last night from an old 16GB Class 2 to a Sandisk 32 GB Class 4 its like a night and day difference. 100% recommended.

It should have a 2 or 4 with a circle around it on the front label. If not there are some apps that can speed test it and tell you.
Hi, I just for the 16gb sandisk card that was on sale at newegg and my G2 is having problems dectecting it.
I know android has problems with class10 cards so I bought the class 4 one.
when i plug in the card and start up the phone sometimes it say the SD card is blank.
also while im using the phone the sd card will say it unmounted or the android files in the card will turn into weird icons.
does anyone have this problem too?
I formatted it to Fat 32 many times.
i bought the same card on newegg. Although i haven't had the chance to use it yet, i was just gonna format it and copy the whole of my previous SD to it. Does your card work on any other device? if not might need to RMA
No i haven't had time to try it on my other phones yet.
I had to Clone the old card to the new card and so far no problems.
so problem solved?
I think so.
I couldn't just drag the files over.

They may or may not work okay. But Class 10 cards seem to cause more problems than lower class cards, based on user posts here. Plus, the extra expense doesn't seem justified, as you will not see much if any performance gain.
Since I'm in school, I got a lot of problems with sandisk product. (stop working without a sing, corrupt, takes days to boot).
For my usb flash drives I use patriot now. Never got problems, especially with the little 8gb usb key. Excellent reviews on newegg.
I bought class 10 16 gb micro usb patriot. Run some bench marks, average 11 mb/s writing. Since 5 months, lot of testing roms and watching videos, no problem yet.
Be careful with bad reviews because some people runs day long benchmarks. It kills flash memory.

Does Sandisk work better if you're not in school
Odd. Was it a genuine Sandisk product, purchased from a reliable source (like Newegg). Because there are a heck of a lot of Sandisk counterfeits on places like eBay. Sandisk and Kingston are probably the most counterfeited brands of flash memory. On the other hand, its just possible you had a defective unit. Its impossible for even the most reliable electronics manufacturer to be 100% free of defective units.
I've used 3 different Sandisk Micro-SD cards in my smartphones and tablet, one of them is almost 4 years old. Only had a problem once, and a format fixed it right up. Also used Sandisk SD and CF cards in my cameras for years, without issue.
Today my Transcend 16gb class 10 arrived and I installed in my DZ.

Happens to me about every other week. My Sandisk 16gb class 4 card is from my local Radio Shack, so I doubt it's fake. Perhaps some G2's don't like class 4 cards? When it happens to me, I see that message when I get up in the morning.
