Hi All,
Just to let you all know that O2 have the upgraded ROM (ver 1.11.170)with BB and radio 1.04 available now on their website.
See my Hmmmmm post above. I didn't spot this thread before I posted.
Hi!
I just went to O2 site but can not to see the new ROM for OIIi. Only v1.11.69
Snap. O2 IIi Downloads page.
If you know different, linkage please.
O2 have withdrawn the 170 rom as it had issues!!! (like the others don't!!) That is why it is not there any more.
on O2 site i found just 1.11.169
It was withdrawn because it was crap. Blackberry didn't work.
i just downloaded v 1.11.169 , hope this is the latest
I downloaded it one month and a half ago and i don't see the difference between v.1.11.169 and v 1.11.170 except Backberry v.2.0. If yours is good,I think you enjoy it.That's the best way.
i see the radio rom is still 1.00

just a quick question, does anyone ever risked or ever brick their PDA in trying to upgrade the PDA using the ROM ver 171 ?
is it safe to do upgrade ROM even via the website ?
I'm worried if it would broke down my PDA. :-(
here's what I've found in the website:
The latest XDA IIi System Software is available for you to download. New and changed in this version of software, v1.11.171 are:
* Updated BlackBerry Connect
* Improved Bluetooth Connectivity
Please click here to continue
This software is for Xda IIi in UK and Ireland.
and I'm living in AUstralia.
is it worth it ?

Another question - on next page O2 asks for IMEI and phone number. Somehow I can find IMEI on my device but how can I obtain valid UK O2 tel. No??? It was bought on ebay... So is there any links where i can download this latest ROM ver. without tel number? Thanks.
I downloaded the rom with my imei and a romanian cell phone number from the official site. Didn't updated it yet...
There is now a v 1.11.171 available at the O2 website.
my emei doesn't work, can anyone give me a working link to the 171?
thank you.
I've used this methode alot on my X10 and i just tried it on the Arc and it still works great! To do this you'll need root and root explorer(or an other methode to change your build.prop) and a locked bootloader otherwise seus & pc companion wont work
I'm not responsible if you break your phone!
How to:
- Look up the customization number of the firmware you want to change to in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1082368
- Open root explorer and go to \system and open the build.prop file in the text editor
- Change the following three lines:
ro.product.name=LT15i_XXXX-XXXX
ro.build.fingerprint=SEMC/LT15i_XXXX-XXXX/
ro.semc.version.cust=XXXX-XXXX
Change the XXXX-XXXX into the customization number of your desired firmware
- Press the menu button and save & exit
- Reboot
- If you are using pc companion on you computer go to:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Sony Ericsson\Update Engine\db\13740270\
And delete the blob_fs folder
If you re using SEUS on you computer go to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Sony Ericsson\Update Service\db\13740270\
And delete the blob_fs folder
- Shut down your phone
- Use SEUS for update or use the repair function in pc companion
- Reboot and enjoy your new firmware
Worked for me Changed SI from UK generic to UK O2 and after reboot, PC Companion picked up the 2.3.3 update straight away
The irony of course is that it's actually an O2 phone anyway which I'd debranded after I'd bought it by flashing UK generic firmware! Thankfully the O2 firmware actually seems to have less crap than the generic one...
An easy way to debrand it for me was to reinstall the software using SEUS. It wiped out all the Orange stuff that was on mine.

Would changing my number to somewhere where the 2.3.3 update is available already allow me to get it?
Also, does doing this erase your phone?

Hi can anyone help a confused noob!
My Xperia Arc started life as the UK t-mobile branded one.
I used the helpful guides here to debrand it to the global .181 one.
However I keep trying to check from time to time for updated software to 2.3.3 and it says I have the latest one.
I can see a UK generic firmware released.
Now if I re-flash to that one - can I then update to 2.3.3?
I thought the purpose was that if I debranded to global .181 one - being global it would get the update more or less faster then other firmwares?
Sorry for the noobish questions - any help would really be appreciated!
Thanks

Hi thanks for that but you say I need "root and root explorer" - sorry where do I get these from? I presume my bootlocker is locked by default as I have not touched that part of the phone but do I need to root my phone as well? I haven't done that yet.
I think that the official KG2, around the world, will be 2.3.3 . Yesterday, on a Romanian forum, user vali692001 posted this pictures:
That is not the 2.3.4 KG2, but the 2.3.3 one.
All RO carriers got it these days, including Vodafone.
Do you have the Voda version? I am interested to have it also.
I have it on the phone, yes.
Vodafone RO put it on Kies officially today.
Could you upload the firm. somewhere?

Latest firmware :
I9100BVKG2/I9100IDEKG2/I9100BVKG2/I9100BVKG2
will give an update when I will revert to stock to update it via Kies and get my backup bootloader
cheers
I can confirm RO Vodafone branded devices can update too. My phone is not charged though to allow the update

But anyways, Ive enabled dis thru Registry
The hilarious thing is, at first, make me think, Branded phone is not gud, the update will b later than the unbranded ones, but since Microsoft decided to roll out every update with carriers, (****), luk at dis Thethering Update, we unbranded phones r later!
So mayb, it's gud to use a branded phone mayb....(((

Yes it would be great
I find it crazy that unbranded phones don't receive this update ...
I have manually updated my operator unlocked Omnia 7 to the new firmware and am very puzzled.
I am on O2 in the UK and thought that upgrading to this new firmware would enable wifi tethering but after the update, this was not enabled.
I updated to the SFR-FR update available from mobiletechworld.com and everything was ok apart from being unable to hear any calls so downgraded back to the KH5 firmware.
My Specs are now
firmware version 2424.11.8.5
Radio 2424.11.9.1
Bootloader 5.9.1.4
Does anyone know if I am going to have to follow the guide on here to enable wifi sharing or whether wifi sharing will definitely be available to unbranded Omnia 7's via a firmware update anytime ?

Got my update last night on T-Mobile UK (branded) and tethering is enabled
Firmware revision number: 2424.11.9.4
Radio software version: 2424.11.9.1
Bootloader version: 5.9.3.0
Is there a way to force the update on a unbranded Omnia 7??
no, there is no way to force the update, because tethering is for carriers only ... i also have a open samsung omnia with a 3 Austria sim - card. we have to wait i also search for a 3 austria CSC / firmware. but nothing ... i only found 3UK or 3 ireland firmwares.
Lol, I forced KI3 fw yesterday (with cab sender), only to find out that the new T-Mobile UK update updates the fw to 2424.11.9.4 (I have 2424.11.9.3) and bl to 5.9.3.0 (I have 5.9.1.4) :'-( I WANT the new OEM.cab The tragic irony is I own a T-Mobile branded device, but have unbranded it, holy sh!t when are branded devices are supposed to get all the goodies first?
Is there a difference between 2424.11.8.5 and 0222.11.8.5 or is it the same but different numbers because of carrier (t-mo and orange uk)?
222.11.8.5 is from orange .
mine too is 222.11.8.5 and i still wait for the firmware update to 2424.11.8.5
Can we update just this firmware with wp7 downloader.
I don't know what mean the check boxes in wp7 downloader.
If we check just "eboot", will it updated ?
thanks
my bootloader is 5.8.1.9 and i can't update the latest firmware because oit has the same bootloader (i got a error that i have the same name for firmware),
the only solution is to roll back an early version of bootloader than update the firmware manually.
but can i flash only a bootloader without hard reset the phone ?

Yes, using the WP7 Downloader and having checked only Eboot, it flashes only the bootloader without erasing your data. The flashing of the bootloader takes only a couple of seconds BUT... I tried that, flashed several bootloaders (5.8.0.8, 5.8.1.9), and when I tried to update the firmware with WP7 cab sender, I received the same error image. I didn't try flashing older bootloaders (coming from preMango roms, for example 4.12.0.9 from JL3 Rom) though, in risk of bricking the phone.
what would the best combination be if I want to get the Mango Firmware with Tethering enable when doing the Zune Update? I'm not too interested in unlocking the phone, as it seems like a lot of hassle, but I would like Tethering - if i install the UK Retail firmware will that get tethering enabled with the Mango update?

No, if you flash a Rom with UK RETAIL csc, this is an UNBRANDED device, which is NOT receiving a wifi tethering update via Zune, at least for now. In order to have Internet Sharing on those devices, you need to unlock it.
BUT I had an unbranded device, and I could force tethering update of French operator SFR, not via Zune, but using WP7 cab sender. But that branded the device to SFR-FR network (without visible sideeffects though, NO problems with data, boot images or branded search engine). I could then change that tie from SFR to T-Mobile UK, via registry edit, and I could actually receive notification via Zune for the tethering update, but that update fails every time.
It seems that the SFR update (KI3) and the TMO-GB (KI4) are almost identical, and one cannot install one over another. Hopes that is the issue with those specific updates, and not the forthcoming ones.
So your best bet is to install a Rom (either engineer or retail, practice showed that engineer roms can be updated normally) using the T-Mobile UK csc (TMO), and then update it via Zune.
OR you could install an unbranded one using the UK retail csc, update to Mango without IS, and then force the IS update using KI4 T-Mobile firmware (use that over the KI3 SFR fw, it has slightly updated bootloader and firmware, radio is the same, and I suppose it's better to be branded under a UK network)
Thanks - looking at the thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1131891
It seems the only available firmware with TMU is
Samsung Omnia 7 Firmware XXJJ6 ALL PROVIDERS
this is quite old - is this OK?
P.S My device is currently ORANGE UK
You can:
A. Wait till Orange UK offers IS update. As long as T-Mobile offered it, I suppose it's a matter of time that Orange follows sooner or later. If you can't wait proceed to B.
B. Flash that XXJJ6 preNoDo rom with the TMU csc (os 7008, it would be wise to unlock at this stage, as you made the hassle of going back to preNoDo). Then update normally via Zune to Mango with IS (two stage update)
C. Flash a Mango Rom, which can be found at samfirmware.com (need to create a free sign-up account). There are two roms I8700XXKH2 (with an french SFR csc) and I8700XXKH5 (with a DTM csc). Both those two carriers, french SFR and Germany T-Mobile offer update via Zune with IS. Only one update, that of the IS, as you are already on Mango. You will need to change language/locale and uninstall some carrier apps.
Also you could try flashing those roms using the TMU JJ6 csc. I have tried that in the past (not this exact combination, but different rom different csc) and I didn't face any problem. Beware though that I used preNoDo csc and preNoDo rom, so it may not apply in the case of preNoDo csc / Mango rom.

Yes that would be ok, I didnt mention it though as cm-mojo specifies he doesnt have an unlocked device, so he can't use registry editor
Anyway, change the network id in the registry to TMO-GB, and then update via Zune BUT you should not have applied (via Zune or WP7 cab sender) any extra fw update other than the ''default'' Mango (KH2 or KH5). If u have forced KI2 (Voda ITA) or KI3 (SFR FRA), you cannot update to KI4 (TMO-GB, DTM)
i tried to flash using WP7 Sender, but i keep getting an error that a file exists with the same name - not sure what that means

Yeah, same thing here. Had TMO-DE version KH2 on my Omnia, via cab sender, too. Update to 7.10.7740.16 failed several times, finally putting my phone into restore mode, from which it was unable to recover.
Ended up reflashing my Omnia down to JJ6 again (with TMO-DE csc) and then letting Zune do it's updating. It took 5 updates and some two and a half hours, but now everything's fine again, i'm on 7.10.7740.16, firmware 2424.11.9.4
I'm shure this won't keep me from using the next unofficial solution to get the latest version some hours earlier than everybody else, but i'll keep my JJ6 rom & flashing tools warm and dry, in a safe place...
originally flashed KI4 from DE-Tmobile to get IS.. however 7740 update failed repeatedly.. mucked about a bit with Cab updates but no dice..In the end went back to XEUJL3 & then let Zune do it's thing for mango & firmware .. now on KI2 with 7740 (used a cab updater but perhaps I could've waited. Anyhow Compass works great & I think now I'll shell out the $9 to chevron to enable the IS instead of wasting another afternoon..
