Hi all ,few weeks ago I bought a unlocked T-mobile myTouch
4G .Lucky I able to know that there is a new software
update (gingerbread) has released. But unfortunately we
haven't T-mobile in here (my country ).My question is, how I
update sofware of my MT4 G without a T-mobile OTA
update? Also there is not T-mobile operator in here
too..Please note,
I haven't root my phone.
I just need to know how to get new STOCK ROM UPDATE for my UNLOCKED device...
Please help me.. .
Thanks

Download and rename to PD15IMG.zip and place on root of sd card. Then restart your phone while holding the down volume button. Update when in hboot.
I suggest you read the topic throughly in the link I provided. Also, do you have mytouch 4g or the normal htc sense version of the phone? Because one runs mysense while the other runs stock sense.

Thank you very much for answering! But I have a question about that link.I saw it before.I just wanna know,is it the OFFICIAL STOCK GINGERBREAD ROM or a CUSTOM ROM? I can't ask it on that page, because I got a message that I haven't permission to post on that page.
By the way, what do you meant by Mytouch 4G or Normal htc sense version of the phone? I can't understand what you ask..I totally new to Android...
Its not a rom, its the official ota that someone zipped for others to use. Download it, place it in the root of the sd card (not in any folders, just the sd card itself). Restart your phone while holding the volume down button. When hboot comes up, it will scan for the file and ask if you want to update. Say yes and let it, do its thing. Make sure your phone is fully charged and whatever you do, don't interrupt it. As for the question I asked, just make sure your phone had a mytouch logo on the front.

by the way, can I use the same method for this? or I have to root the phone first?

No, that's a rom not an official update zip. You need clockwork mod for that.

Hi friend I have 2 questions.I'm a beginner to Android. So I don't know alot of things about roms,rooting..Here are my questions.
1. I am a gamer.But I heared that some games(like gameloft's) don't work on GB.Is that true?
2. After I put zip file & restarting phone will the data on memory card lost?I mean will SD card's data erase while phone installing GB?
Thanks
OFFICIAL MyTouch 4G OTA Update
Just follow this steps for an error free update.
1. Download the rom here
2. Place it on the root of your sd card.
3. Switch On your phone while holding the Power button & the down volume button.
4. The hboot menu will update your phone (do according to the hboot instructions).
Now reboot & enjoy your update......This is the original T-mobile version....so no worries.....

This Rom is copied from T-Mobile SD card. So it's 100 % original (Thanks to Gr33nF0x for his great work)
I haven't witnessed problems yet. I advice you to limit the number of games installed for it's smooth function.
When you do your upgrade, you will lose only the data stored in your phone memory.
Your SD card data will be unaffected. So don't worry.

What do you mean... erase everything? How?
Possible steps:
1. factory reset from H-Boot, see if it boots up normally, then re-root.
2. Install PD15IMG from development section, look it up.
Good luck.

Which recovery did you have installed and which h-boot
Did you try seeing if you could s-off through adb? Im not sure if this will work but Download the files you need to get s-off from ur computer and put it on ur SD card via a card reader or some sort, after you get the necessary files put the SD card back into ur phone. Hook it up to ur computer and maybe you can s-off through adb if you can get ur computer to recognize ur phone. Then IF it works, download a rom via computer to it SD card and boot into recovery and flash. Let me know what happens if it works or not

Should have taken my advice from this thread.
I just went thru the same thing and couldn't restore any of the backups it just kept getting stuck on the flash screen. I downloaded the ice glacier rom on to a spare sd card and flashed it thru hboot recovery and it looks like that did the trick.
hi guys if you still cant get your phones working try mobiletechvideos.com, they fixed my phone , my phone wouldn`t do anything .good reliable service, yes its in texas.
Although you didnt create any backups, is it possible that someone can create a backup of a fresh ROM and send that to you?

Just take the SD card and put a new ROM on it. Then go to recovery, wipe data, wipe cache, wipe dalkik cache.
Then install zip from sd card and find it.
I like using Royal Panache 1.3.
I think it's stock Mobilicity ROM but no stock software from carrier. Good stuff.
MIUI and Cyanogenmod 7.1 are also good candidates.
I'm currently testing out ICS and you can test it out as well (but in your case, probably try a working one first =P) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1383629&page=1

Wrong, he just randomly revived a thread that last post was made in July 2011.

He revived quite a few of them, trying to market what I believe to be his product. Just look at his messages. Don't want to write the name of the product, since it appears he's scoring just for that.
I've reported his posts, but didn't see mod response yet.
Yet they always get me

I have an Epic myself and the security of this new HTC phone threw me for a loop. Anyway , I was trying to put CM7 on his phone , starting from stock. I managed to get CWM 3.0.0.5 on it and then flashed the CM7 from here. Now it is stuck on the white Tmobile screen , Ive let it sit therefor an hour and nothing. But the real problem is that I cant find a way to restore to stock and start over. With the Epic we use a windows program called ODIN in case something like this happens. Ive tried using ADB but the phone is showing offline so I cant push any commands to it. Is there an app like ODIN that will let me factory reset this phone and try this again? Thanks
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
Sounds like you rooted and flashed CM7 onto it without having s-off. If I'm not mistaking there is another thread similar to this one somewhere. Also you need cclockwork 3.0.0.6 to flash back and fourth from stock and other roms.
you need pd15img.zip on your SD
pd15img.zip reboot into hboot with that file and the part7-0000000000.bin file on your sd and it will load and ask you to push volume up to confirm then wait, it will restore the phone i know i did it, took me 3 damn days to figure out you need that part7.bin file on your sd with that pd15img.zip file...or its a no go, trust me this WILL def work...its a life saver, i did the same thing you did...had clockwork and no s=off...now i successfully restored it and sent it back to tmobile because before i solved it i panic and called for a replacement, told em it wont turn on, they sent the new one, and about 20 mins ago i flashed cm7 after folling this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=858996 to turn s=off...works great good luck
Where do i get the part7 file and the other one? Thank you

It was creates with you permanent rooted it.. should be on your SD card. In the rooting instructions it tells you to keep that file around.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Just make sure that u dnt keep tryin to flash the rom cause u gonna end up gettin the cant mount cache & data errors, which once that happens nothin can b done with the mt4g.. So if u used the gfree method to root the phone u should have the part7-xxxxxxxx.bin file, stick that to the root of the sd card & put the pd15 file to the root of the sd card, powerdwn or battery pull, reboot into recovery & let the phne do its thing..
I don't think he has that part7-xx......bin file for his mt4g phone since he did not run gfree patch. You can't do stock nandroid restore also because that requires CWM 2.5.1.4 but you can always give it a shot.
Good luck with your boss, hope you don't get fired.

I didn't use the gfree method for getting perm root.
So i never got that part7 file that you speak of....
I have found them online to download but even using someone elses i still doesnt load the .zip from hboot :{
I downloaded the glacier file , like 350 MB or something , renamed it to PD15IMG.ZIP (had to leave the .zip out because windows). Then I found the part7.bin file from another thread. Put both on sd card. Vol down and power, it found the pd15img file and started restoring the image. 15 minutes later the phone boots up just like brand new! Thank you to everybody who helped with this! Sometimes I dont know what i'd do without this place!
P.s.- he still wants gingerbread any suggestions as to best rom?
Thanks again everyone

I think you made a fine choice with CM7. Just make sure you are rooted and have flashed the latest clockworkmod through ROM manager (3.0.2.4 I believe) and it should flash without issue.

Heads up, this is really only useful/necessary if you want to use Sense ROMs. If you use AOSP ROMs like CyanogenMod you're better off with the G2 hboot and more /data space.
Can we also include the way to get back? It seems that is what most people are concerned about in addition how to get there in the first place. Thanks.

I'm all for this thread, but I do believe that OP needs to be a bit more informative.
For a start include details on checking which hboot you have installed. This question has all ready been asked a lot.
A video tutorial. I never use them but people do seem to like them.
There also seems to be a lot of people worried about flashing the DZ hboot then having to return to there phone for warranty purposes. Its irrelevant which hboot you are using whilst rooted. You are still going to need to return to the stock hboot. A guide for this exists here.
Also maybe ask RMK if you can copy and post this instructions in to the first post. Currently this thread does not really contain any Dev related info and might be closed.
And maybe include instructions for people that don't use adb

guys for ppl who donot want to use ADB. or cannot understand how to make it work ..... the process is simple... follow these steps and complement them with rmk guide .....
before you start make sure you have enough battery and do a Nandroid backup before hand.
1. download the PC10img.zip from rmk guide.
2. connect your phone as disk drive with your pc. and copy the pc10img.zip into root folder of your SDcard....
3. check the MD5sum of pc10img.zip on your SD card and compare it with the one provided in rmks guide. (you can either use a pc based software to check md5sum.... many free ones out there.... or use some software like "Man D5" its md5sum generator free on android market)
4. if the MD5sums match than just simply reboot into bootloader (power off the phone than turn it back on while holding the power and volume down button)
5. when it asks you whether you wanna install pc10img. select yes by pressing the volume button.(it will tell you whether to press volume up or down)
6. Now pc10img will install and it will reboot in the process once so dont do anything until second reboot.
7.after second reboot when your phone is stuck at HTC screen for some time. take out the battery and put it back in and go back into bootloader.
7.5 Put sdcard in another phone or memory card reader and delete/move/rename PC10IMG.zip.
(if you have no other phone or no other media to read the SDcard to delete the pc10img.zip file than whenever you restart bootloader it will scan sdcard and it will ask you if you wanna install pc10img.zip file volume down to install and volume up to ignore i think..... so you have to press volume up to ignore it and than get into recovery as given in step 8. than later you can delete the zip from sdcard via either recovery or when your nandroid is restored )
8. this time go into recovery. it will give you some errors like..... this not accessible and that not accessible.
9. Just do a full wipe, than wipe cache , than wipe dalvik cache from the advanced menu.
10. At this point you could simply just do a nandroid restore. but a friend of mine had some force closes after nandroid restore at this point. so for that i would suggest that you after completing wipes..... take out the battery and than put it back in and again go into bootloader than into recovery.
11. this time you shouldnt get any errors of "cannot mount this or that"
12. At this point do a nandroid restore and you will be back to your original state but with a DZ hboot .....
(if for some reason your again getting cannot mount or access cache at point 11.... than again wipe cache and it should fix it.....
hope it helps anyone who is having problems adb .....

simpler way is to download "quick system info pro" from market... it shows size and used spaces of all internal partitions and external partitions
you can also verify in titanium backups main menu at the bottom
Easiest way to check is to go into the bootlaloder and see what it says.

ok well if you just want to upgrade to Gingerbread with stock MySense and not root your device, download the file PD15IMG (2.3.4 new). Put it on your SD card and name it PD15IMG.zip(without the .zip), then boot into fastboot by turning the phone off, then hold vol down + power button to turn the phone on into the bootloader. it should automatically recognize the file and then prompt you if you would like to update or not

depends on which way you rooted your phone and what radio you are on
gfree- follow the method in the thread to unroot http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=858996
visionary- make sure you are on the stock radio, then yes put the Froyo PD15IMG file on the root of your SD card then reboot into the bootloader. doing this will also put you back on stock MySense

Did you rename it PD15IMG.zip and place it on the root of your sd card? It can't be in any folder, and must be PD15IMG.zip and not PD15IMG.zip.zip (sometimes it gets a double zip when you rename it) it not talent..or else Id be screwed!

I have android 2.3.4 software 2.32.531.1 with s-off. The phone has a problem with a camera app. I just want to restore without root( scared to try ). I renamed it with PD15IMG without .zip because the file is a zip file. The bootloader saw the folder but then it said no image
Thanks for your advice.
Managed to downgrade to 2.2.1 and s-off. Go to the next level, try to root and flash rom....
Froze during update
Hi friends. My MT4G (not rooted) was freezing on the boot screen (T-Mobile MT4G with white background screen), so I flashed gingerbread 2.3.4 using PD15IMG_Glacier_Gingerbread_S_TMOUS_2.32.531.1_Radio_12.62.60.27_26.13.04.19_M_release_227522_signed as it is supposed to be done, and it worked fine. I was already updating my apps when it froze again, so I removed the battery and went back into hboot loader, and asked to update again. It started fine, but froze when updating Bootloader (1st step). I has been there for 3 hours+, and I don't know what to do to exit the updating process, since I can't pull the battery. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
Ok I am working on this mytouch it is stuck on the android skating and the SD card is completely blank. the Hboot is 0.86.0000
I want to put the correct files back on the sd card and the correct PD15IMG so that i can un-soft brick this phone i have no other info from the prior owner rooted or not ect.. ADVICE, LINKS, DOWNLOADS ???
Download the gingerbread PD15IMG.zip from here. Place it on the SD Card, boot into hboot, then let it do its thing! Press thanks if I helped
So question? Even if the Android File system is missing on the SD card this will re-build it?

Boot into hboot to check if it's s=off first

I don't think the android system is on the SD . But yeah just flash and everything should be fine.

Invasion2 is correct. The "system" files are stored on the internal memory. Any folders/files missing from the sd card that weren't put there by you will be regenerated by android and apps you use.

I was in a boot loop after a failed install of a custom rom - did all the research - came to the conclusions that I had bad emmc - was getting the fail-pu errors when trying to flash the PD15IMG.zip. As a last ditch effort, found a thread that talked about SD format - yep found out it was an issue with my SD card format. I ended up putting another SD card in that worked in another phone (could also format a new card FAT32) and was able to finally get past this and get the stock (froyo) image on.
Yes but this is for a phone with custom recovery that is not the case here this is a stock phone with s on

I already tried re formatting to fat32 when i load the froyo image it loads it and skips the update to the mytouch 4g screen no failed pu message just with the gingerbread img.

Yeah dude you have a paperweight. I would just go to Tmo and ask for a replacement. Say it just shut off automatically or something. Sorry, hope I helped.
Final word
As I said I am working on this phone so I have to deliver the bad news. The person who owns the phone bought it used and was using it then updated and things went bad. Hope this thread helps someone. Thank you for the repsonse
