Screen issue on 2.3.4 - Atrix 4G General

When I was running on 2.2.2 the screen looked great but since updating to 2.3.4 there is some problems with the display
The black levels don't appear as dark and there is a lot of dithering in the image
It basically looks like if you were using the wrong dynamic range
Is there any way to fix this?

Did it remove any of the pixelation from the status bar icons, etc?
you can't change a physical thing with software. I have noticed no difference with the screen. Status bar still looks the same, everything looks the same.
the only thing they could have changed is the utility to set backgrounds, but i haven't changed mine so i have no idea.
a question, when we update the atrix for this version, we will lose all installed app?
No, when it is pushed OTA to all Atrix 4G's it will keep all apps and probably most, if not all, of your settings.

its 8:43 CT here and still no update yet. Wonder what time they are pushing it out?
since the update, mine irons shirts now (although its still making a mess of the collar).
I noticed pictures on my phone look much nicer now. Before looking at pictures I had taken and transfered to the phone looked washed out like the white balance was really off. Looking at the same picture on my phone and an Iphone the Iphone displayed the picture way more clear and crisp. Since I did the update that has changed. The pictures look the way they are supposed to now. I'm sure what they did was change display settings to correct the problem.
I think motorola don't will put update to all users for now =/

Calendar colors

Is the new white to bluish gradient for the calendar normal? It looks really weird for me.
It looks the same to me, I didn't really use it that frequently though, so i could be wrong. I don't really like it.

I like blue.
I can't tell you if it's "normal ", but mine does the same thing. HC 3.1, rooted with BRDs 1.4.2 kernel.

Xoom Status Bar Brightness?

Hi folks - My Dad - all 75 years of techno geek in him - just got a Xoom.
He loves Android (on his EVO & trying to learn the Xoom) but his eyes can't seem to see the status bar down @ the bottom clearly.
It looks dim. Is there way to adjust the brightness for the status bar (particularly the lower right one)?
Thanks.
I don't think there is. It just uses the standard screen brightness setting so its the full screen or nothing I think.

Thanks for the input.
From the lack of responses, I tend to think this isn't a huge issue for people. LOL!
We did adjust the brightness for the screen & it didn't seem to make much of an incremental difference.
Try one of the themes that brighten it up.
Touchwiz is brighter, I'm sure the red theme is brighter as well.

Hmmm...will look for it. Thanks for the idea.
If you're going to use a theme, you will have to convince him to let you root his XOOM.
If you want to go that route and don't feel like installing a completely new theme, I can make a brighter version of the stock control buttons for you. The clock font brightness is not editable at this time since hnytool hasn't been updated for 3.2, however.
As far as colors go, green is easiest and brightest seen by the human eye. Try the green theme.

Nexus S Color Temp

Hi all,
I am a new nexus s owner, and from what I can gather Google changed the color temp with the 2.3.4 update. Is there any way to revert to the old temp with CM7? After playing with a GSII at an at&t store, the nexus s looks like complete crap, I really don't get why it was changed to begin with.
Thanks.

It was changed to be more accurate. Unfortunately bluer colors are associated with "more vibrant" and "brighter" even if they really aren't correct.
Quite a few custom Roms implement voodoo color or reverted. I couldn't stand the awful blue tint on everything, so it was a welcomed change.

Thanks for the reply. I went through looking at some of the kernels that said they support it. They all mentioned compatability up to 2.3.5 does anyone know of any kernels or anything that support vodoo on 2.3.6?

I recommend matr1x, it's my favorite kernel for the nexus s and will do what you are looking to do, but netarchy and trinity both are compatible with voodoo colors as well...there are others but those are mainly the ones which I have used.
Check out this thread for voodoo color settings which will probably be more to your liking http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1002090
The stock CM7 kernel from the latest nightlies supports voodoo. You just need the voodoo control app to make the adjustments.

That's not entirely correct. My screen was fine pre 2.3.4 and after it was far too blue. I'm well aware of the way manufacturers boost the blues to make their displays brighter and the change did that for my phone. Always hated it.

Well those are the warmth changes that were made kernel side. If you go back to the old threads I even linked into the commits for everyone who swore it was accidental on Google's side. The color pallette was made warmer, not cooler.
If your screen got cooler after the pallette was made warmer it sounds like something else is going on.
Sent from my Nexus S using xda premium
I know it wasn't accidental but I'm not the only one who felt it got significantly cooler. My guess is its just a manufacturing issue since there was the same issue on my wife's ns.

I have been using voodoo with the Matrix kernel so far and loving it, the color contrast is almost unreal, however...does anyone know of any work arounds for the green flash that happens when unlocking? Not a super huge deal, just kind of annoying.
If you are referring to the green screen when the phone screen is about to turn off in MIUI, settings, display, advanced mode under brightness, light levels, use custom, light level to dim( try different amounts) 26 worked for me.

Weird blue tinge

Hey guys I don't know if there is something up with my device or this problem is standard, the thing is that my email app (not Gmail just email) and my stock browser have a weird blue tinge to them, when I switch back to some other programs or apps the colors come back to normal, the brightness on these two apps also reduce as compared to my normal settings, any help is appreciated, cheers

Those apps have their own power saving/brightness controls.
Check the settings menu when you are inside those apps. I know for sure the stock browser has its own display settings that are independent of the system settings.
Hey mate thanks for the reply, now I'm starting to get a bit worried because even before I tinkered around with anything the color changed back to its normal hue, not sure what exactly is going on

Hey guys to anyone out there that is interested in what was going on, I actually found out that the power saving option on the galaxy note 2 turns the background color of the stock browser and the email and possibly a few more apps from white to a blue hue, mystery solved.......
