So, I am running emmc CM7 7.0.3 w/OC kernel. All was well until a couple days ago, when Wi-Fi stopped connecting. I have 'forgotten' all of the stored networks, rebooted over and over, etc.
It sees wi-fi networks but when you try to connect it says "obtaining IP address," but it never obtains it. After a minute or two of saying that, it says, "Disconnected." Then, it repeats ad nauseam.
Help! Plz!
bump ) Somebody? Anybody??
You probaby hit the airplane mode, there is a bug and you are stuck in (despite it is unchecked!), try this app to uncheck it: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.advancedprocessmanager

My is stuck at scanning and never finishes. I've tried both the Vanilla and Sense Sky Raider ROMS, both have had the same problem. I tried to search the forum and found something similar but it was with Sky Raider 1.9. Anyone heard of this or seen this happening?
I have the 2.x radio installed, ran the Goodies from Koush.
Thank you,
Jesse
I have skyraider 2.2 and I don't have this problem. did you wipe data and clear cache before installing the ROM? Also, even if it is stuck on scanning, does it display any networks as being available?
It has my home network remembered and it will connect with that. I'm at work now and there is a wifi connection here. When i turn on wifi (widget or settings) it goes to scanning and never list any connections. I cleared cache and did a full wipe before installing. I'm gonna format back to stock and reload the whole thing again. I'll let you know.
I would strongly recommend trying elsewhere first before you go thru the hassle of wiping and reinstalling. some companies will not have their SSID broadcasted... there could be some issue with your employer's wifi network..
I would suggest you at least try it some where else like a starbucks or something before you conclude there is a problem with the rom.
Starbucks down the street, i'll try it. Thank you!
Question: On your incredible, when your wifi is turned on, whats the sequence it goes through, mine says "turning on..." then "Scanning..." it never gets passed scanning.

Usually, its turning on, scannning, obtaining ip address, and connected

When wifi is turned on (or toggled on and off).. I think by default the wifi is in scanning mode. .. which is why when you are get back to your house, it connects automatically. If there are no wifi networks available.. it may seem as being "stuck" in scanning.. but that I believe is a normal status when wifi is turned on.
I don't think it'll do a "scanning".. and then report back saying "no networks found"
People can confirm what I am saying here.
Well, this is gonna sound ridiculous.
So at work I was trying to connect to my buddies iPhone (jailbroken, he has wireless tethering) but the iPhone wireless tethering is Ad Hoc. I did a google search and noticed that android doesn't detect adhoc connections (?). I went to lunch and there was a hotel nearby. Turned on wifi and it detected the hotel. I guess I was just impatient.
Sorry about the trouble.
Thank you guys again.
Jesse
Edit: Before posting the original problem I didn't know the iPhone tether was Ad-Hoc. I thought it was a normal "infrastructure" connection. It wasn't until I used "Wifi Buddy" (from the market) that I realized I couldn't connect to Ad-Hoc connections.
well, I am glad you went about testing it further before wiping your phone
Hi guys! I'm having a problem with the Wi-Fi connection in my phone. Yesterday i've installed the XGin3.0 2.3.4 ROM adding the wifi fix update (just because my phone were rebooted each time for wifi bug). It well worked yesterday and this morning, at home and in other oper wireless connections. But since I came back to home, Wi-Fi refuses to connect to router (it says "out of reach"[!!!] and wifi manager doesn't list nobody wireless connection) ... and I don't know why!
Can someone help me?
P.S. Sorry for my bad english!
Does it say "disconnected" right after "out of reach"?

Thank you for reply Chris. No, my wifi did not connect anyway, just like starvation... I solved making a backup of apps and data... and then by using factory reset. Now wifi works well and I hope to not have similar problems in future.
Do you know what can be happened? Maybe a module bug?
Thanks again!
Oooh! Maybe you're right. Now I'm thinking about that! Wifi connection did go "in connection" and then "disconnected" just like in a loop. But anyway it did not scan nobody wireless (mine and neighboor)...

The disconnected bug happens to me all the time! I just forget all networks, turn on wifi and reconnect...or just restart my router
Eh.. not to me! I tried to restart router, forget networks and so on.. but without success! I had to do a factory reset!
I have updated my A500 to 3.1 and installed the wpa_supplicant that supports adhoc from 3.0. Wifi works fine and I can tether from my smartphone. But I noticed something odd whenever I unlock my A500 from sleep mode. It says "No Internet Connection" at the taskbar of the unlock screen and then immediately connects to a network. To test if my wifi is disconnecting whenever the screen was turned off, I logged into GrooVeIP and checked my status with another Gmail account logged into my PC. When the screen was on, the GrooVeIP account was logged in but a few minutes after the screen turns off it logs out. i check my A500 and sure enough it says "No Internet Connection" and GrooVeIP's icon is red and wifi immediately connects to a network and GrooVeIp is back on again. I restored the original wpa_supplicant for 3.1 and the same thing happens. Anyone else encounter this? I haven't found anything about a newer version of the wpa_supplicant with adhoc for the 3.1 and everyone seems to be using the same one from 3.0.
i have noticed some problems on mine too, mine will not connect to DHCP you have to manually enter the ip info. it's very odd, it was working perfect in 3.0.1
ps have you tried to set you policy to always on?

hahahaha... Now I feel completely and utterly stupid. My wifi policy was actually set to turn off during screen off. I didn't remember to check the setting after the update.
There a lot of suggested solutions for the problem you have. from deleting the dhcp lease file to deleting the networks you have saved then re entering them.
try this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1138905&highlight=dhcp+problem
Has lots of solutions same to your problem.
And thanks a lot for the tip. You saved me a lot of headache.
My Nexus 4 won't connect to Wi-Fi with password. It shows for a second that it tries to connect and then immediately stops and doesn't connect.
The WIFI is OK because when i make the WIFI network open with no password, it's working and connecting.
Also, I rebooted the phone but it didn't help.
Does anyone knows this problem? and how to fix it?
Thank you very much!

maybe try to play with the security parameters, f.e. instead of wpa2 try wpa on the rooter
I'm having on going issue with WIFI connectivity on the NP. Maybe a month ago, the NP dropped the WIFI network, after I would try to connect, but no go. But after feels like 20+ tries it would connect, then the next day it would disconnect again. So, as I try to enter the password for the WIFI, it would come up as invalid password even though I enter it repeatedly, triple checking the spelling as well. But for some reason, the NP won't connect to the network. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Because has a problem from your Wi-Fi router. Try to reset your Wi-Fi router to factory defaults.
