I've flashed new JVP into my SGS using ramad's deodexed firmware with CF-root kernel and JKay skin. Then I restored my backup and used it for some time. After one reboot I noticed that it suddenly got much slower than it was - before I got quadrant score of 1900-2200, after it dropped to ~1300. After some investigation I found that there must be some problem with my settings - if I use some "clean" database (com.android.providers.settings) it works like it should but with my backed'up data it works fine only if I boot it with bluetooth turned off.
Can someone suggest what could have I done wrong?
Try to re-flash and use the stock Kernel, then see if you get the same problem. If not then only restore /data applications (Never restore /system applications) and see again if you get a problem, and so on..
You need to find out at which stage you get the problem, this could help isolating the problem so you can help finding a solution by finding out what cause it... in the way you are asking every member will give you a theory, try to find out by your self, devices are all different and so are the applications/settings/Kernels are all different on members devices.
Sorry for beeing so vague on the first post.
I did tried to isolate the problem - reflashed everything at least 10 times with different configurations. The result is I can show the exact moment when after restoring the backup phone starts to act weird.
Unfortunately the problem probably lies somewhere in my old settings as restoring only this one piece into the clean firmware (or - as my steps were - after flashing cf-root and installing theme) doesn't activate the slowdown. Unfortunately I also did a mostly clean restore - restoring only things I really need (contacts, bookmarks etc.) and only a few applications with data and for the rest of backup only applications. It didn't help.
Today I'll try another way - I'll reflash it and then restore only applications without any data and see what would happen.
Ok. So I did another round and for now I'm satisfied with the result.
What I did was:
1. reflash deodexed JVP
2. restored my user apps with data from backup
3. restored pieces of system data and configured missing settings
it worked fine up until this point
4. reflashed to CF-Root kernel - it seems this broke my setup. I'm certain that there must be something in my config/installation that when added to CF-Root and bluetooth introduces slowdowns.
5. as I needed my theme I just flashed it using CF-Root's CWM and after that I reflashed back to the stock kernel - everything returned to normal - quadrant score was back up at ~1300 (from around 700 with CF)
6. as I also wanted to convert to ext4 I flashed a Speedode kernel and I test the speed - it showed stable 1300
7. converted to ext4 using SpeedMod's CWM then rebooted and retested with quadrant - it holds fine at around 2200.
This closes the case for me for now

Good work, and you did it all on your own
Now you know what was the cause for your trouble and how to deal with such problem next time.
For others that find themselves in a similar predicament, but want an alternative method (or workaround), then keep reading.
I too am using Ramad's deodexed Rom's with CF-Root & have similar problems.
Ramad, I know it's not your Roms.
There is definitely something flaky after flashing CF-Root (no disrespect to Chainfire) , as I can replicate the faults again & again & again, with only the deodexed Rom & CF-Root, APN & WiFi setup. No user apps or anything else on the phone at this stage.
Certain problems then arise (lag is often noticed first) after the phone is restarted while ever WiFi & BT are both turned on prior to restarting the phone.
See my posts in the CF-Root thread here (Posts #2151 & #2152) which lists a few other problems which arise after flashing CF-Root, along with my workaround in post #2152.
It'd be great if Chainfire was able to get this issue fixed, as a workaround is never as good as a permanent fix.
If anyone found my workaround worked for them, feedback is definitely welcome.
I'm really satisfied with Exynos Extreme v7.
It's with NetChip kernel.
(But have to flash SU for root access)
As soon as I flashed & reached to homescreen, I installed SetCPU & AnTuTu benchmark.
Never-before-seen, I scored ~6600 in AnTuTu.
Before this rom, I'd been with Lite'ning v6.1.
With Ninphetamine 2.1.3, I scored ~6200 in AnTuTu.
But there are some flaws in the Extreme rom.
Whenever I reboot the phone, Wifi automatically turns on itself.
Another one is with Wireless Tethering.
I set my disired SSID & password.
It's ok for the run.
But next time, I turned on Wireless Tethering again, then I have to setup SSID & password again...
Please developers fix these issues...
I want to comment in the original thread.
But I just a newbie... and an amateur.

stupid thought have you tried reflashing with full wipe just to see if its working properly then? back up all your apps and data though TB and then flash the rom again but before you do wipe data cache and dalvik..
or if you dont want to back up your stuff through TB just back your rom through CWM..
either way a clean wipe normally fixes few bugs just incase the setup of the rom has not been done properly..hope this helps..
but before you do anything backup as always
Not impressed slower benchmark than Cognition 2.3.4 rom.

a) Random reboots. We've all experienced them; Mine seem to come up quite often, no matter what rom I have installed. Whether it be CM7, CM9, MIUI, etc... it usually happens after returning from "sleep mode" (locking the screen)
b) Also, is there a way to make the nook run SMOOTH (for christ's sake...)??
I've tried V6 supercharger, and I haven't felt that much of a difference.
As for specs, I have my nook overclocked to 1200mhz, with the governor on "interactivex".
c) BATTERY LIFE. I've heard people using there nooks for quite a long period of time before needing to recharge.. is there any trick to this? I'm getting 3-5 hours of use on a normal day. It's supposed to have the same battery as the Nook Tablet... and same screen resolution.. sigh..
solutions anyone?
Thanks in advance.
Well, I'm currently running the MiRage rom and it runs fine. No random reboots. Do you use a time/weather widget? Sometimes these can cause occasional problems. I wouuld think it might be an app that is causing these problems, as I've used many roms on my nook, including MIUI, without the problems you are describing.
As for low battery, how high is your display brightness set? I have found that to be a big battery hog. Or again, it could be due to certain apps.
I would also suggest doing a clean install of your rom - wipe and reformat. If you are not sure of the procedure, please post.
My nook gets very heavy use on a daily basis and I get a full day after a nightly charge. Look for a thread in the general section for the nook by mr72 - a guide for CM 7.10 setup. Lots of useful info there.

How many updates have you installed on your nook color? I have found that you should only update a few times before you will start seeing problems with your cyanogenMod builds.
CyanogenMod uses modified kernels so you should wipe both your data and your caches after a few updates to keep from corrupting your kernel base. Make sure to backup first with a nandroid backup so you can restore your apps and settings afterwards. Constantly re-flashing and updating your cyanogenmod builds just leads to problems without doing a full data wipe once and awhile. ALWAYS wipe your dalvik caches on each update.
The easiest way to wipe both your data and caches is to use clockworkmod in your included ROM manager.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have not experienced any of the issues you are claiming with the latest stable of cyanogenMod 7.2 on the nook color, but I make it a issue with myself to wipe both the data and the caches on the eMMC of my nook color , which is the way I am using cyanogenMod, after a couple of updates. YOU will especially will have to wipe both the data and caches when you upgrade from gingerbread ported versions of cyanogenMod to the ICS versions, those kernels are way modified. I have worked on some through the github.
I tried many CM7 nightlies and newer CM9 also.
Very rarely to have a restart (freeze up are bit more often) and battery lasts for 9–10 hours with full use.
Something might be wrong with your hardware or no good install of Roms.
How long do you have it? Did you get it new or used?
Produced by NookColor at ICS 4.0.4
I've been using Stock ROM since now and it lags way too much for me, my friends on Stock facing same issues, idk which custom ROM to go to as there's just so many ROMs with different bugs in them. Athene is my daily driver i don't wanna lose it by installing a crappy ROM. Please help.
P.S. I'm just a noob in flashing. Please someone send a link for first time installing of custom ROM. Thanks.
LineageOS is a very stable and well-supported ROM with OTA updates as well.
As for installing a custom ROM maybe try reading the forum.
Try lineage or resurrection remix. They are the most stable. Till early this month I was using rr now shifted to lineage os
Before flashing anything, have you tried the usual troubleshooting steps of wipe your cache and Dalvik in your recovery? Or if that didn't work, a factory reset (which may wipe your apps and app data)? You could also look into reflashing the stock ROM (e.g https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/how-to/moto-g4-plus-xt1640-43-athene-npj25-93-t3549369) but before trying any of this, make sure your data is backed up.
I'm using InvictaOS (unofficial lineage based ROM) https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/development/xt16xx-cyanogenmod-14-1-alpha-t3492274 as my daily driver and it's been very stable, of course my usage will be different to yours, so your experience may vary. However, I get good battery life, watch YouTube at 1080p, calls are of good quality and the patched Moto camera works, as well as the system being smooth and responsive.
As with flashing any custom ROM, be aware that you'll have to unlock your bootloader from Motorola, which will void your warranty and also erase your data. Relocking your bootloader will not restore your warranty if you need to visit a service centre. Also, switching to a custom ROM will also result in device wipes so ensure you have a good backup before starting.
Yes i wipe cache like once a week and have tried factory reset, but no luck . Stock Nougat still lags, my usage is mostly same as yours, calls and YouTube and texting. The only thing that bothers me is warranty. Thanks for replying.
That's fair enough, losing warranty is definitely a consideration. Re flashing the stock ROM as mentioned above shouldn't affect your warranty and may resolve issues with your system (which is possible if your problems are persisting after a factory wipe). What build of nougat are you on (under settings>about phone)?
Invicta os
It's NPJ25.93-14, I'm waiting for the March Security Patch update, as other people are claiming better battery backup and to see if lag problem sorts out, if it won't hit my phone in 1 week or so then I'll move to one of your mentioned ROMs
I tried Unlocking Bootloader, entered the hex code in Motorola's website and it says my Bootloader can't be unlocked. I bought it from Amazon India (Retail package, no contract of any kind). Help me please.
Well, maybe that is for the best of your luck! I advise you to go to a service center and complain to them. Why? Because Motorola is BI*** and you are better off keeping your warranty stuck up their faces before trying anything else.
One more thing: when you are a noob, flashing a stock rom is not as safe as it sounds, you might end up without a sim slot or lose some other functionality.
Stick to your warranty and fight back the tedious way.
Ok I found that the hex code i was writing on, I cut off a string (low key my mistake) i unlocked bootloader, installed TWRP and now on lineage OS 14.1. It's working great, just a little worried for battery life but it's smooth af.
Great, I'm on Lineage OS, too
A generic battery saver: disable adaptive brightness and lower brightness only to the level you need. A full charge that way - with me using both WiFi and LTE - lasts a little more than 48 hours.
One last thing: please do a full backup from TWRP. Select all partitions you see available. Copy the resulting backup folder from SDCard to PC in a safe location. Do not modify further unless you really really can't breathe without it.
With my usage pattern, I get typically 4-4.5 hours.
This includes:
Calls, texts, and brief Whatsapp usage
Browsing XDA, reddit, instagram
Youtube over 4G/LTE at 1080p (with a slightly weak mobile signal), which is my main usage.
This is with ambient display set to 100 ms wakeup, and 2 sec on time. General brightness at about 25 %. EX Kernel manager used to set maximum number of big cores to 2, I/O manager set to zen with 256 kB readahead buffer.
Of course, your experience may vary, though I've always had good battery life with Invicta.
Nope, stock core speeds (think the big cores run up to 1651 Mhz, little cores at 1200 Mhz), just capped the maximum number of big cores to 2. Besides, the interactive governor will likely pick the speeds appropriate for the task, I imagine. In fact, I recall having good battery life even with the stock kernel settings and all cores available, just with these settings my device runs cooler in my experience. Again, the beauty of EX Kernel Manager and the Invicta kernel (alongside many other kernels and managers) is that you can try and tweak a lot of options, many of which will be subjective and vary depending on your usage
Wow... my usage is nearly the same and on nearly every ROM I get about 5.5-6.5 hours of SoT. Whether it be LOS, Invicta, GZR Tipsy (slim based), AOSP-CAF, or even MM ROMs (which are even friendlier on battery).
I disable any memory killers, location, bluetooth, set zen/512kb, disable all big cores, default adaptive brightness, and my usage is reddit/Instagram/Chrome/Telegram. This is over a 2 day period too.
