My Gtab thinks its still attached to the dock - Galaxy Tab 10.1 General

But it is not!
Last night I put it on the dock, and this morning I took it out, but the clock kept on the screen.
I can hit the back button and access apps, but whenever I press the HOME button it goes back to the clock screen.
It behaves exactly as if it were still on the dock.
Does anyone else get this?
Does it have any relation to the sleep of death? Is it an indication that I might get the death problem if I use the dock again. I'm afraid now...
Help!
Paulo

Anyone please?

Have you tried restarting the device?

Restarting the device should fix the issue. I have to go thru a similar process with my keyboard dock.

Yes, restarting fixed it.
Stupid bug.
But I'm afraid it is somehow related to the sleep of death, and restarting wont fix it some day...

Home button opens clock

Hi!
I just had a very weird bug. Suddenly when I pressed the home button the stock clock app (which I think is useless by the way) opened. When I pressed again the phone didn't switch to my home screen but stayed in the clock app.
When I tried to put the phone in standby and wake it up again my lock screen didn't show up, it was the stupid clock again.
I rebooted my phone and now everything is like it should be...
I'm running 2.3.4 (not rooted) with Launcher Pro.
Anyone else familiar with this problem?
I believe that you can set home button behavior in Launcher Pro. Not sure about the lock screen though.
I've had the same issue, always resolves itself though, especially after a reboot. Odd bug but doesn't occur enough to bother me.
But I agree the clock app seems largely useless, I have no wish to leave my phone screen on all night, and I can access alarm clock, gallery etc fine without.
I had this issue in January when I first got the phone, I guess on 2.3.1 or so. Anyways, the buttons did random things, and launching App A would result in App C launching instead, if you get what I mean. For example, I'd try to open Dolphin browser and Youtube would come up instead. I'm not sure why this occurred, and a simple restart fixed it. I wouldn't worry too much unless it keeps happening.
I only had it happen to me the one time.
I'm also experiencing this on my Nexus S, First the Car/Dock Mode appeared out of nowhere. It literally just launched itself while I was working at my desk! Now the home button pen up the clock App. Windows can't even detect the Nexus S now. No "you phone is plugged, mount it?" dialog box.
help!

Okay so I think I may have found a solution. I set my Nexus S beside my iPad 2 last night before going bed. I think it may have been the caused of magnets. yup. magnets. So I tried contacting both together. The iPad 2 reacted and lit up its screen and voila the Nexus S home button now works as a HOME and not a CLOCK button! I know its a little weird, may just be a coincidence for all I know! But mine works fine now.
Try it and let us know if this works for you!
Let me resurrect a dead thread here with a new solution. I began building my roms from source on the NS4G and immediately this bug appeared in them. Funny thing is only on my phone none of the testers had this issue. I decided to overwrite desk clock with desk clock pro on the market for free, and it knocked out the bug, and I still have my alarms for work.

[Q] random reboots

Hi, is anyone else getting random reboots on their tablets? im running 3.1 its rebooting like crazy yesterday it did it 3 times one after the other and it just did one right. is their a fix for this? ill greatly appreciate it if you help
~Thanks
the only fix I've discovered is that I have to turn off the wifi before idling for awhile. Mine only reboots after it goes into sleep, never when I'm actually using it.
yea it only does in idle, so theirs no actual fix to this?
I haven't experienced this, but I also put my tablet in Airplane Mode when I know I won't be using it for several hours or a day.
I do this to conserve battery life, but I suppose it's also meant that I don't see this problem -- assuming it's a widespread problem to begin with.
For now -- until we get another software update that might fix the issue -- try getting into the habit of switching to Airplane Mode when you're done using it. It only takes two taps.
Mine did it to me today for the first time while the screen was turned off. It never happened until today or at least I have never witnessed it. I have had mine for just over a week. I also put mine into airplane mode & have been all a long when putting it to sleep. I read in another thread that under wireless setting you can set so wifi goes off with screen off under wifi disconnect policy. I don't think that wifi does turn off though.
The only other thing that has changed is that I installed the Riptide GP Demo last night. I didn't play it until today. Shortly after I was finished I put my Transformer to sleep (screen off). After a few minutes I heard pop & just a single pop. I turned my transformer back on then off. I heard this poping noise a couple of more times. I finally restart my transformer & problem went away. It was a short time later when my transformer rebooted its self.
It does this only when docked to the keyboard. I have stopped using my keyboard for now until there's a fix for this. Lost a long document last week because of the random reboot.
I'm on 3.1 and haven't experienced this. Strange.
Does this once or so every day when sleeping, doesn't matter if docked or not.

If you have an sdcard plugged in the dock, you can try to remove it.
It worked for me.

What did you change? Did you add an app, take an app update, change a setting, insert a new SD card?
I have never experienced a unexpected reboot.

Random reboots

Has anyone else goten a ton of random reboots? It tends to happen when I am not using the dvice, and it's docked with the screen open and turned off. About every few hours, I see the EEE Pad restart. Even when I do not have it near me, I often come back to it only to find that AndChat/my other running programs have stopped running, which suggests the device reboot itself.
Hi,
I can't say that have seen lots of them, but last weekend as I was putting it down, as usual I switched off the screen by pressing the On/Off button... and it rebooted!?!??!?!
There is no way that I have held down the button for over 4 sec, and it should ask me whether to shut down first, and finally I have never seen an option on the TF for rebooting the device.
Any ideas guys?
rio
I have the same trouble I have noticed this today.
MP3 player on pause, tablet docked and open on my desk and after a while (like 5 or 10 min) I look at it and it's rebooting...
Quite strange.
Sounds like a power management trouble.
Would really love to know what's wrong with it.

What about that don't have dock & this happens?
Yes mine does it fairly often and I had never seen it happen undocked before until this weekend. I started undocking it at night due to the battery drain issue and both Sat and Sunday when I undocked it and sat the tablet aside, the tablet auto reboot. Previously I had seen this happen only when docked and sleeping and when the screen was open. Very annoying, wish they'd fix this.
I had it wake up a few times when it notified me I had mail..of those times...it rebooted on me.
Turning off background sync did the trick for me. It really is annoying..sometimes come from work and power level dropped dramatically...now when I go anywhere..airplane mode helps...pia but it gets the job done.

[Q] Kindle seems dead

I used it this morning to listen to music while getting ready for work just like any other day. When I turned it off it has about 65% batter left and I set it on my counter. Came home at lunch and it would not turn on. I plugged in the charger and got no response from the device, no orange light nothing.
I brought it to work and it has been plugged in for almost an hour now and it still has no orange light on it and it will not turn on. Any suggestions for what to do or what might have happened?
-Eric
I've had that happen twice with mine so far the fix is easy though:
Press and hold the power button for 20 seconds.
Press the power button again and it should come one.
Hopefully that fixes it for you.

Dude you are a FREAKING life saver!! I really thought it was dead, but when I did this it turned on just fine and was almost fully charged as well. Wonder what causes this? Any ideas?
Anyway, thanks!!

I would think it's some kind of problem, regardless. Software or hardware, who knows. Basically the 20 second power button as I understand it is just a hard reset akin to a battery pull.

It's definitely a problem but it's not a problem with just his Fire; it's happened to me twice. Once when I turned off the Fire while playing a game (not a hard power off, just a quick power button tap) and again when another app crashed.
This happens to some other android devices. I think its an issue in some gingerbread builds where the device wont wake from sleep.
This has been happening to me frequently since the 6.2 update.
just for the record I too have experienced this problem. freaked me out that is for sure. glad to see others have seen this, and hopefully it will be fixed. at least its pretty easy to resolve the issue when it occurs.
it's useful topic for me.
Kindle Dead
This is happening every day now. Is there a fix? I'm not sure what the frequency is or why, but once or twice a day is becoming the norm...it's frustrating
Rooted Kindle
Go Launcher
Android market Apps, etc.
Try disabling wifi and see if the problem goes away.
kindle dead not wifi related
Thanks for the suggestion. I disabled wifi and waited 3 hours; dead Kindle. I'll try anything...please help as it's quite a nuisance.
Thanks
Is this happening to only rooted Kindle's? I'm getting one from the wife for Xmas and was wondering if this is happening to stock fires as well.

This only seems to happen to be when i am not using the factory supplied power supply. You guys still getting this using the factory plug?
My Kindle totally dead. I can't repair it. I can't get acces to adb shell. Nothing. this is really sad.
Dead Kindle
Try holding down power button 20 secs then re-press it...works for me
I had this happen to me while I was in a work meeting on Friday. Thankfully I found this thread so I learned about the 20 second hold down thing. It worked like a charm and I have only had it happen once. For the record I am not, nor have ever, rooted the Fire.
It was pretty discouraging to be sitting in the meeting with a "dead" Fire and unable to look at the manual to see how to factory reset it because, well, the manual is included in the Fire....
man, I hate irony.
Same problem here. Several times it has been dead now. This morning again and the power had fallen without showing any steps for about 10 per cent. Wifi was switched off.
Any more ideas?
Now it happend two times in a row. After this night again it was "dead" in the morning. Are there any ideas what might be wrong with the device? (rooted, wifi off, ADW launcher, but not activated, some google apps like market)
Any ideas what could be done?
It only happens to mine (rooted, adb, Go Launcher) when I put it to sleep while it is in "Go Launcher", if I put it to sleep from Kindle Launcher it wakes right up. Hope this helps.

Samsung Keyboard dock issue in 4.0.4

I have an issue using the Samsung keyboard dock with the new ICS 4.0.4.
When I use the dock witout the power lead or with a usb lead to the pc/laptop, everything is fine.
When I charge the 7510 with the power lead everything is fine as well.
When I charge the 7510 in the keyboard dock with the power lead attached to the dock, the tab hangs when the screen turns off (all the time, not random). The on;y way to get ity going again is to hold the power button for 10 seconds and rebooting the tab.
I have reflashed, and have done a factory / cache reset. I use fulll stock, no alternative kernal or root.
Can someone please confirm their tab has the same issue, or confirm theirs works, so I need to pay a visit to the repair center?
I tried to replicate this and could not. I waited a couple of minutes and the device did not hang once after 4 tries of letting it sleep in the dock while charging.

I have yet to try the keyboard since I updated to 4.0.4, but using the keyboard on hc 3.2 I was getting random crashes /reboots. I'll give the keyboard a shot today to see if I get the same random or constant reboots.

can you try a format of /system, then wipe again and reflash rom with odin?
same issue...
I have had the same problem. I thought it was the keyboard that was causing the issue, but it only occurs when /charging/ via the keyboard. Furthermore, it seems to only be a problem when it's fully charged. Very odd.
If I let the battery run down a bit (e.g., 80%) and plug it in, it doesn't hang. Once it's nearly charged, it nearly always freezes.

I'm having the exact same problem. US Tab running UK 4.0.4
me too
I'm having the same problem as well, US Tab with US 4.0.4.
If it's fully charged, in the dock and to the wall, tapping the power button
will lead to a crash. A screen sleep will also crash.
I've played around with the keyboard "driver", lock screen settings, wifi sleep policy, and timeout
delay. None of those seem to affect the behavior.
I had a similar issue with Honeycomb but it wasn't as repeatable.
This used to be easily fixed in 3.2 by going to Developer options and checking "never sleep when charging". This option seems to be gone from ICS.
Seems like LP8 has largely fixed the issue. Still not fully gone, the error is not repeatable anymore and I had only one freeze the whole afternoon.
