Guys,
Even on the stock EC05 rom the indicator light would never blink when I missed a call or text or email Until I woke up the phone. To me that seems pointless, it the indicator light blinking should be the reason I wake up my phone that way im not always playing with it checking it.
It does blink red after I wake it up and I let it go back to sleep.
Im curious if this has ever been fixed and if someone could tell me where to go.
There are several on here that will happily tell you "where to go" ;-)
Seriously though, I'm completely with you on this. The indicator LED has been one of the biggest letdowns of this device, given it's potential. I have never had a phone that had a worse one. Qbking77 is asking people for suggestions for SRF1.3 in a separate thread. This would be a huge coup if someone could write a program to fix the LED and get it to properly communicate.
There is an easy fix for this using the "Missed Reminder" app in the android Market. I am using this fix and the LED blinks forever until I dismiss the reminder. If you search this forum for missed reminder, you should find the thread that explains how to setup this app.
Edit: here's the link on how to set it up: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11292197&postcount=4

I have tried SK Tools, and even that did not get rid of it. I can seem to get rid of this notification at all. I did a soft reset last night at dinner because it was running slow, then all of a sudden, it just kept vibrating every 3-4 minutes but there is no notification message coming up on the screen.
It stopped for a while later in the evening, but started again this morning at 7 which is when I had my OLD alarm set for, now there is no alarm. Still showing me the notification light (orange) though.
Turned off all alarms, all vibrating notifications, and the phone is on ring. Still vibrates every so often for no reason, and the orange light at the top is blinking every 3 seconds....
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks,
John
Just to check you cleared all duplicates in the notifications queue using Sktools?
Did you perform a soft reset on completing the removal (sometimes doing this too soon stops the changes) ?
Have the duplications and any scheduled alarms actually gone from the queue?
Mike
Heh, I am like mikechannon's follow-up poster today
Anyway, I find SK Tools a little confusing to use for this.
Just to verify, did you do BOTH steps of...
1. Mark duplicates and
2. Delete all marked
How many dupes did it mark?
Hi,
Is this a notification in relation with phone? If yes, are you using PhoneAlarm? PhoneAlarm will keep to harass you with the notification as long as you have not clicked on the icon corresponding to the notification (and that normally indicates "1" telling that you have a waiting notification) in order to open it and to dismiss it. I do not know if this is the problem but since it is a possible source, I wanted to point it.
Good luck!
Murat
Hi, I don't know if this will be of any help, but i installed some Chinese character software which turned out to be for WM2003 instead of WM5 and that started playing havoc with my notifications in the same way (they wouldn't go away). But once i removed it, everything went back to normal. So perhaps this could be due to you either using foreign language software, or something for WM2003 or both. Good luck with it
Hi guys,
I have the o2 XDA Neo for a week now, thanx to the forum I got the wireless working too, so everything is great. I do, however, have another strange little "problem", although I'm not entirely sure if it is a problem.
On the first day, at one moment, I heard the Neo beep, as if it had received a short message, and when I went to the phone, the LED was blinking orange. However, when I turned on the screen, there was no new message, nor there was a missed call, missed alarm, appointment or anything like this, just nothing. I later talked to the person that I thought would have sent me a message, and he confirmed that he did send a sms, but I never got it.. Not only it wasn't on the today screen, it was not to be found in the message folders too..
Today, I had my phone with me, on vibration, and Ï didn't feel it ringing, however at some point I checked it to see my battery status (it was ok, around 40%), and I saw the LED blinking orange again. There was again no message, no missed call or anything. The only calendar event was a birthday, for which I had received a reminder the previous day around 23:00. Also the strange thing was, no matter what I did, the LED kept blinking orange, only after a soft reset it returned to the green standby blinking...
Has anyone else experienced this? What do you think could be the cause?
Greets,
Boyan
hey everyone,
I have a T-mobile MDA. All the info I can give is whats in the About section which is "Windows Mobile Version 5.0 OS 5.1.195 (Build 14955.2.3.0)" and processor is OMAP850-195Mhz"
Now the problem I found was that the little LED for the power and bluetooth made no sense. I would receive a text message, save it as read, clear my memory and it would not give up blinking until several hours or until i restarted my smartphone.
Does anyone know the source of this or a way to make it correct? I go to bed with the light blinking orange and wake up with the light still blinking while nothing happens. it gets annoying because i dont know if i missed a call or received a text message or something.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
P.S. I searched the forums for this problem but have failed to find anything relevant so I appologize if this is a report.
Are you sure that it's not blinking green? Most, if not all PPC's blink a green light when they are on just to show you that they are on when the lcd shuts off.
I actually have the problem that you described where mine wouldn't stop blinking orange even after I had read the only sms I had recieved at the time, but it only happened once and has never happened again. My guess is that it's a registry setting that's not resetting itself after reading the sms like it's supposed to. I've read where other people have a most likely related issue where the new sms icon stays on their screen instead of just the light flashing like that. I'm not sure that there's a way to fix a sticky registry setting though without a hard reset or reflashing the ROM.
I've experienced about a dozen instances over the past month and a half when the HTC alarm goes off at the specified time but I'm unable to dismiss/silence it. It has been only an intermittent problem and I've yet understand the exact conditions that cause this to occur or been able to reproduce it under controlled conditions. In any case it is quite annoying as I'm forced to completely power off the phone just to make the alarm stop (not fun when you're just trying to hit snooze for an extra ten minutes). I've experienced the issue from both the "alarms" and "timer" feature of the HTC clock. I do use a task manager, but have Clock on its ignore list and don't notice anything on the auto-kill list that would be related.
Has anyone else experienced this or have any insights? I'll keep ya posted if I discover what conditions are causing this.
Thanks,
Darren
Happened to me as well, i hit dismiss and the window went away but the alarm noise kept playing and wouldnt stop... so then i opened up task killer and killed off the clock task and it still kept playing! even with no programs running! had to turn it completely off to stop
I had the same happen. Still have yet to figure out why .

same thing happened to me. i received a text while the alarm was sounding, but when i closed handcent i couldn't turn the alarm off.
Interesting to hear the problem isn't limited to my device. For what its worth, I submitted a report to HTC; we'll see if they give any useful response.
Actually experienced the problem again this morning. It was interesting in that I had just powered-on the phone immediately before going to bed, so the issue seems to be unrelated to anything I'm manually running on the phone. Spent a few minutes in task manager seeing if I could kill the sound but with no luck; decided for the sake of my roommate that I'd just power off and work on it at a more convenient time.
Will let you know if HTC says anything, although with the new senseless rom's coming out this will likely become a non-issue for me.
Its a known issue. I started a thread about this the week the phone was released. It happens when anything comes up at the same time as the alarm such as texts or other alerts. I had it happen where an alarm was sounding then a calendar even came up and both got stuck. Its a Sense UI issue. Good thing that's a thing of the past. Getting rid of Sense this weekend and flashing a new ROM
It seems like every custom rom removes/disables it - what do people have against it? I think it's pretty helpful getting an alert when the battery is charged.
Unless I'm misunderstanding something.
Some people are light sleepers, and when it pops up it makes a noise and wakes them up usually at around 2:00 in the morning, and nobody likes that lol

Why have a message just look for the blue light lol

Because a lot of people enable "stay awake", plug their phone in to charge, then hit power to manually put it to sleep. No idea I it does it on Froyo but on Eclair the full battery message would wake up the phone and the screen would stay on. Do it enough and you will have a full battery dialog burned into your screen.
I personally hate popups in general: that's why I have a notification bar.

It doesn't bother me any, but those who use their phones as a bedside alarm clock and charge their phone at night have grown to hate it.

Exactly, and it wakes me up at night.
its annoying on 1000 different levels, even if you don't enable stay awake.
eg:
1. you plug in your phone to charge, go to sleep. 2 hrs in, you hear a sharp beep sound that wakes you up. ...
2. same as 1, but now you've forgotten to face the phone down and the screen on the epic is also on. shines a pretty bright light against the wall... that keeps you up. ...
3. You remembered to put your phone facing down so the screen doesn't shine against the wall when the notification comes on AND the beeping didn't wake you up luckily. Your alarm comes on, you're half asleep and you want to turn the alarm off. Guess what? you have to go through another step and click "ok" for the notification and THEN turn off the alarm.
4. you're plugging in your phone while you're using. It fully charges. BAM! the notification comes on. Intrusive! (this is why even iphone people who like iOS complain about their notification system)
This is why I hate the notification. Worse:
5. IT DOES NO GOOD. What's the point? All the above problems and there is seriously no positive trade off. Just throw a stupid icon on the notification area if they want a feature telling people their battery is full so much. Even better: easy option to disable the notification.
stupid samsung.
I was thinking the same thing this morning until I had it pop up on me for the first time in a long while (new rom)
You guys don't silence your phones when you go to sleep?

No, because if someone needs me ASAP in the middle of the night then I want to be alerted of a text or call. (Differing reasons, but in the past: bail friend from jail, booty call, drive a drunk friend home, family member had a car accident, etc.)
I personally use my phone as my alarm clock, but the Eclair alarm clock allows alarms to override silent mode which is nice. So this isn't truly a factor for me hating it.
I really dislike the pop up and alert noise as a whole. Seeing the blue LED light is enough for anyone to see it's fully charged.

Do you have kids old enough to stay out late? Or an ex who keeps the youngest one at times? Do you have a father who's dying and your phone should be ringing any day now about funeral arrangements?

Ya, i hate it, when i hear annoying beaping noise even when my phone is on vibrate i hear it, thank god its gone!!
I'm surprised anyone would wonder why so many people hate the battery full popup/sound.
I hate it because I use my phone as an alarm so I sleep next to it, I charge my phone when I go to bed, and I'm a light sleeper so the damn thing wakes me up if I don't fall asleep right away.

No. Why the hell would I do that? There could be an emergency from a friend/SO/family member that will call/text me. Not to mention the alarm piece I said above.
I imagine anyone who would need me in an emergency knows my house number.

Here's a question: Does anybody actually like this popup? It's one thing not to dislike it, but is there anyone who really gets upset when it's gone?
Turn the darn beep sound off by going to settings>sound>volume>system volume and slide it all the way off. The rest of your sounds will still work, like the phone ringer etc., but the full charge beep won't wake you up anymore.

My Epic is my only phone. I suspect that's true for a lot of people.

I think this is the best response in the thread. I disable it (thanks devs!) so I don't have to see it/hear it. Why would Samsung even put it in here. Do other Samsung Touchwiz phones have this "feature".
If Samsung is really bent on having it, at least give users the option to disable it.

Dude. Seriously. Here's the nice response from me:
We use our phones differently and what works for one does not work for another and as long as it is not harming someone else or someone else's loved ones, we should never force our lifestyle onto others.
I was going to let you read my original response but then I caught myself assuming that you were closer to my age. For all I know, you are 12 and these questions and assertions you make are perfectly reasonable for someone of that age. So, I'll be nice just in case.
