I wanted to create a list of current ROMs for the Galaxy S3. My phone is pre-ordered through Verizon so it won't ship until July 10 :highfive:. I hope to be able to give back to the community, this is a start. This is just a temporary list until I get a better idea of how to present them (ideas?) This list is backed up to a Google document I created: Google DOC. If you would like to help edit the list, let me know. If there are errors let me know. If this belongs in General please move it.

Probably should post that none of these are compatible with the verizon phone, or any US phone for that matter.
There's really no point in this list whatsoever, as it is a repost and you are going to have to trash it when your verizon phone comes.

Slim ICS ROM
I'm missing the Slim ICS ROM (see slimroms.com) from the list.
According the the supported devices page the Samsung Galaxy S III I9300 is supported.

Criskelo v5.3 problems
I flashed the Criskelo v5.3 rom and my phone keeps crashing every 5 minutes and then sometimes even restarts on its own. How to fix this issue? Does anybody else have it?

I'm on 5.2 without any issues but 5.4 just got released. May want to try updating and see if the problem goes away

Okay, this is a start of a list for roms/kernels arranged by OS Version from Jellybean to Gingerbread. I'm only listing back to Gingerbread as anything older is extremely outdated. However within Gingerbread I have broken down in to the following:
1/ Sense 1.0, 2.1~3.5, Sense hybrids, and Sense legacy ROMS (updates prior to 4.67 and pre-GB if they are a considered a 'special').
2/ AOSP and Cyanogen based, with active and inactive sections
At the end of each section is a small list of kernel suggestions to go with the Sense or AOSP ROMs.
Also I've added a section for recoveries. There is no Clock Work Mod as it can obtained through the playstore via ROM Manager.
If I've mistakenly put a ROM active/inactive, please pm me and I will make adjustments. I actively check the forums and have basically put a ROM as inactive if there has been no thread activity for around a month.
I haven't been able to find a lot/any information on JB kernels as of yet so that will be updated in the near future I hope.
The reason for doing this? This was suggested over on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1843989 as many people don't use the wiki and are getting tired of others posting constantly about rom kernel matches so....

I've been looking through and I havea couple questions.
Should I/Do people want me to include ROMs that are:
a/ Using software from more than two updates ago e.g CM6, Sense 4.57 update and before? If so I'll make a legacy section for these or something.
b/ Atyoungs Mason's kernel has an unofficial 0.1.5 RC5 Release. Is there a direct download from him? Do I need to pm him?
Also the evervolv/ acies kernel used in the JB ROMs, is there a link to this as well?? My searches have only come up with the ROM/Gapps d/l

If you went to the thread linked on this page there are instructions in the op, post #1.
If you d/l the PC36IMG zip on to your sd card, you can flash that in the in hboot/bootloader screen. Power off your phone, then hold volume down and power. White screen appears when it asks to update recovery, volume up for yes.
If you got the .img, d/l flash image GUI or something named like that from the market its much easier to do than adb commands.

Kernel updates and other sources
In the GB section under the aosp kernels I have added direct d/l links for atyoungs mason g 0.1.5 versions with SBC/FSO and SBC. Also a 0.1.4 SBC/FSO version has a direct d/l. These are there until a d/l from the developer is up and running.
On another note are there any other scripts, mods, that people think should be added to the op that people would need for when they are flashing a ROM to their phone? Leave any suggestions below and I'll look at providing links to other ops and what not.

First of all, which ROMs are included here? Well, I just search and choose the active threads (even if the ROM doesn’t have any recent updates, the thread should at least remain active, with constant feedback from users and devs) but this isn't a must. Perhaps you can find some outdated ROMs that are still functional. Please remember, the most important thing is to read the thread of the ROM that you choose, take a look at the benefits, user reviews, bugs, FAQ, etc. And then, flash it. Of course all the feedback is welcome, if you see some wrong information or want to see a ROM added/removed, you can post a reply in this thread or send me a PM.

I know that every Developer is free to choose the title of the ROM as he/she wants, but it's really much easier for users (and of course for me) if the date and the version of the ROM continue as the main fields since I'm organizing the index by the date of the last update, with most recent being first. These are two examples of an "ideal" title:

We call Samsung / Sammy based to all the ROMS who have they base on some of the official (sometimes leaked) firmwares by Samsung, some examples are XXLPG, XXLQ5, XWLPD, etc.
In this ROMS, mostly, you can find the usual Touchwiz interface, however some ROMS include different themes to change the appareance.
« ¿What is an AOSP based ROM?
First of all, AOSP stands for Android Open Source Project.
These ROMs offer you the "stock" Android experience without all the extras provided by the manufacturers like Samsung, HTC, etc. they are based directly on the source code from Android. They may be tweaked but are, in their entirety, the closest to a "pure Google experience".

Very basically, MIUI is the Chinese custom version of Android. The main difference that have from another ROM's is precisely their unique customization options.
The MIUI team hast their own launcher, widgets, apps, etc. If you really want a change from the Green/Gray of GB or the Black/Blue of ICS then take a look at MIUI ROMs.

CyanogenMod it's a ROM pure based on AOSP, but have a main feature...it's a base too for many of the ROM's that you can see here, the Cyanogen Team works on innovative features that later are ported to different Devices / ROM's.

Samsung based ROMs and MIUI are the best for me.
AOSP/ AOKP ROMs have the excruciating deep sleep (Android OS battery drain) bug for me at least.

personally I also like this rom from all aosp roms.
IMHO
After 4 years of custom ROMs I would say that of course there's no single ROM fitting all the needs at once.
I am currently using temasek's unifficial builds for performance, stability and battery life (accordingly to my very own setup).
Second runner is crDroid because of native FM radio (I really and badly need it) and the precious-as-a-diamond call recorder. There's also a list of other minor features and eye-candies, but I can easily live without that.
And because of the fine-graned aroma installer, of course.
This was Due for a Loong Loong Time... Gud to see tat this Initiative has finally been taken :good:
By the Way... ChaosRom v5 is one the verry Capable and Stable Samsung based Rom out there ...

Definitely Slimroms for the no-nonsense, no bloatware user. Has a good amount of customisation options, and very neatly implemented. Also has a dark/black theme which greatly aids battery savings because of the AMOLED. Use it with Temasek's custom kernel coupled with stweaks for UV/OC to help with battery/heat problems.

So due to the (recent) influx of new AOSP(A)/CM based roms I got lost deciding what rom I should use. That's why I opened this thread; to find out what rom you prefer and why. Hello community! Welcome to the Repository of ROMs, kernels, guides etc. of the HTC One m8 Android Development Forum.
First of all, not all ROMs will be included in this thread. If a thread hasn't had any posts for 2 months (subject to change dependant on how active the M8 forum remains), it won't be included in this list. If a thread gets added to the list and then reaches 2 months of inactivity, I'll simply write "Inactive" next to its listing.
Also, just so you all know that there's no bias involved due to the order in which I list the ROMs, when I make the first thread update, I'll be adding them to the list in the order that I see them. So the first ROM I see will be at the top of the list. When I make subsequent updates, the ROMs that have had the most recent updates will be at the top of the list.
Now, there's just a couple of notes I'd like you all to be aware of before getting into this index.
About ROMs/kernels/recoveries etc.
*Whichever ROM/kernel/recovery you decide to use is up to you but be sure to always read the first posts of the development thread before flashing or reporting an issue. All the most important information will be included in those first posts!
*Also be sure to search in the development thread before asking a question there (or in the Q&A thread, if applicable). This is a forum rule but is also really annoying to have to read posts asking something which has already been answered numerous times.
*Keep posts on topic. A little bit of off topic posting is fine, unless the developer doesn't want any off topic posts, but don't get too carried away. If it gets too out of hand then posts will be cleaned up. After all, we already have a whole forum which is dedicated to Off-Topic.
