Be honest. Does your Transformer have light bleed or not.
Yes - Minor
Worst Section: Dim in bottom left corner (spreads to about 1.5 inches from edge)
We have two 16gb Transformers in the house. Both have a small amount of lightbleed on the bottom edge.
I consider it a minor issue. Doesn't bother me much at all.
Yes but it is minor. top right
Light bleed is expected with IPS panels, thats just the way they work. My iPad 2 had light bleed 2, it used an IPS panel. My G2X has light bleed, uses a IPS panel.

+1 you should of really added an option.. SORT OF. I voted no because it was very minor and not really noticeable unless 0.2 inch light bleed from the bottom bothers you.
It has nothing to do with ASUS or the Transformer. It's just the way the screen technology was made.
very very minor light bleed at the bottom. not at all distracting, dont really notice it unless youre looking for it.
Yes. In a dark room, with a dark screen, there is the slightest amount of light leak. More than I've ever seen on this type of screen, but less than it would take to make me notice if I wasn't looking for it.
But then maybe I've been spoiled by my n1 screen!
bottom right corner, doesnt affect the use though.

Great, keep your results coming. I thought about multiple selections such as "small amount, it doesn't bother me" or "huge amount" but I just wanted to keep it simple. You do or do not have light bleed. I see this leak is common on IPS screens but some are just worse than others. Mine bleeds out from the lower left 1" at its source and continues up the entire left side. It is 2 weeks old and was this bad right out of the box! Thanks to everyone participating!
I can't find any. I have B60 serial.
Yes mine B40 does. As others have said, it's not bad enough to effect use, just a bit annoying. But we've been through so many threads regarding light bleed I think we all accept it at this point.
My B50 does too, bad one on the center left side, 2 smaller ones in the bottom center, a few really small ones on the right side, no noticeable bleeds on the top half.
90% of them are only visible at full brightness on a dark background, in a dark room. It doesn't bother me.
I have light bleed on all sides to a greater or lesser degree. It bothers me only a little though.

Me too Deadman3000, I'm not that annoyed by it. A little light leak seems to be inherent with the IPS screen technology. My new one is worse than my first one that had that lost it's screen completely. It had maybe 5 mm of leak at best and the second one has 25 mm of leak in places. The first was a B5 tablet and my new one is a B6. But I think by watching the posts throughout the day it is pretty consistant that 2 out of 3 have enough light bleed to bother owners enough to post a yes. That is the answer I was looking for. I notice that bringing up this issue seems to bother people and I would agree that there are posts everyday about it but when I searched, I couldn't find an actual number to put with this issue. So I apologize to those that were offended that hey had to endure yet another light bleed thread but I think we now have a little more knowledge today than we did yesterday... That is the purpose of our forum, to learn.
I have had my Transformer since launch. I have to say, until I started looking for it I never noticed any light bleed, even then it is minimal at best and definitely does not bother me. I have been reading about B40, B50, B60 serials and was wondering if anyone with a B30 serial is having any of the build quality issues ect. that everyone else seems to having. I have a B30 serial and I am quite happy with my device.
Yep, only a little bit on the bottom left corner. I never realised it was a bad thing until a week or so after I got mine I saw all the threads here about it I think it looks kinda cool when I'm reading a book.

Same here. But I don't pay much attention
Most of the time, my brightness is low, so not seeing it much
My previous B50 tab had minor light bleed at the bottom, particularly the lower right. It was noticeble only at Max bridgeness in the dark.
My current B60 tab had no light bleed at all
Pretty substantial on my B50, from all sides but the top. It's not unusable by any stretch, but it ain't pretty. Almost seems like it's become worse over the last month. Is that possible, or is it my imagination?
Yes, but you cant hold it at an angle and see the backlight, its just some coming through the back of the panel and its only visible if you have a bright backlit screen that is basically all black and you are in a very dark space. Its no different than any other LCD item I have used, even iProducts.

I was looking at some videos online of the TF yesterday and I noticed that most of the people that have the dock close it from the top of the tablet. Being that the dock only holds to the bottom of the tab, is it possible that the chassis is getting stressed causing light bleed? I know there are people out there that dont have the light bleed issue. I am wondering if those people use the keyboard dock or not.
Just a theory
I have light bleed from the right-middle side of the display. It was like this out of the box. No dock (yet.)
I have 7 (seven) light bleeds 2 on the left hand side, one in left top corner, 3 on the bottom and one in the middle on the right hand side, no doc but i've noticed that when you twist the tablet slightly the bleeds getting brighter and stay this way for some time so there may be something in yours theory
My theory is that Asus had to cut lots of corners to get the TF to as cheap as it is and the bleeding and cheapo plastic casing is a consequence of this. :/
Actually, I think it's related to the IPS screens, because the iPad/iPad 2 have had similar light bleeding.
When I dock the tablet, the light bleed becomes more apparent. Yes, the pressure does something, but it can't be fixed either way.
Just FYI. A lot of LED LCD Samsung TV users have noticed bleeding from the sides of those TVs and have fixed or helped the situation by relaxing the chassis screws in those areas.
You can search for more info about it at the AVS forums.

I have noticed this as well... all of the bleeding on mine seems to be more obvious when it has been docked and in use for a period of time. I was going to ask the question to everyone else (if they were also having that experience). I guess I don't need to now.
I've had light bleed from day one and don't have a dock.
Finally decided to test this light bleed thing. Max brightness in complete darkness showed no lightbleed. So, it's not chronic to every unit.

just did the same. full brightness in a dark room. no light bleed. guess i just got lucky [knock on wood]
I finally got a TF and the Dock. I used it for about three weeks without the dock and th light bleed slowly started showing up I haven't noticed more or less light bleed when in the dock but I have notice that it is most noticable at the bottom right corner and I happen to be right handed.
I don't know if there is any weight to my original dock theory but the light bleed has deff gotten worse in the last couple weeks
Hi,
I have just received my Asus TF today, and I absolutely love it!
However I have just noticed that in the middle of the screen @ the very bottom the light is slightly bleeding out (ie there is a lighter spot on the black bar).
Its just right above the docking point.
Is this a common issue / design, or is mine faulty?
Sorry, its probably a completely stupid question, but I just want to figure out if I should be asking for a new one....
It's a common issue, you're not alone.
Some of us have returned TF's with light bleed, while others accept it.
If you just have one section at the bottom, keep it. Mine had four different areas of bleed.
I have light bleeding but only noticeable when showing pure full screen black picture in a dark room. So its not really a big deal for me ( I guess nothing is perfect). However, I wonder if others have worse.
I have some light bleed at the bottom of my screen in 3 different areas. Its not too bad and i can only see it on a black screen. Its better ecer since i put the sceen on auto brightness
this problem will exist with LG ips screen. :O
Got my replacement from BestBuy today, Original had one bad light bleed and 3 smaller ones. Also had a dead pixel in the middle of the screen.
New one has small light bleed in lower corner, hardly noticeable and no dead pixels.
Now I just need to pick a ROM to put on ;-)

No. No it will not. LG IPS panels do not even have backlights; not inherently, anyway.
I hate when people blame light bleed on IPS. It's not the IPS technology, it's the poor quality edge-lighting

Yes, that's probably true. Asus might be responsible for the backlight, or they may have bought it from yet another third party, but it's probably LG's.
Mine has very small ribboning of light at the bottom of the screen, would have never noticed in normal use. I checked my Ipad that I have had for a year and its exactly the same and in the same place, never noticed till I looked for it. Possibly all tablets have LB to some extent if its not noticible in every day use its only a problem if it bothers you looking at a black screen in a dark room

Not all tablets have lightbleed.
Most do, though, because of the form factor basically requiring edge-lit backlights, which are very tempermental
I just received mine yesterday & don't seem to have any light bleed. That is unless I don't know what I am looking for.
My only real issue seems to be with the power button. I have to push it 2 or 3 time for my transformer to wake up.
I have the same issue, 2 spots at the top of the screen. I don't think I ever see it though unless the display is entirely black or at least very dark. If it were much worse I'd consider getting a replacement, however from what I've read on the subject it doesn't seem to get (significantly) worse over time under normal conditions, however excess strain may worsen the effect. Thankfully the TF101 seems pretty solid so I don't think its going to be much of an issue.
Mine has it in about three or four places too, I don't really care about it though.
Sadly I just noticed two spots in the middle of my screen that are white. I do not think it is light bleed but I have already issued a RMA with NCIX on this.
I noticed that it is an issue on Amazon as well....according to this review.
http://www.amazon.com/review/R21G1E2O7DUE83/ref=cm_srch_res_rtr_alt_1
Dammit.
Ah well. Will RMA it and if that fails will get a refund and get a Acer Iconia instead.
There are a lot of scattered reports that the B6O revision is better than the B5O revision.
Of those of you who have the B6O revision:
1. How many of you notice any of the issues such as creaking or backlight bleed?
2. How many of you actually have another revision unit to compared it to?
There are some people here saying they are considering selling their B4O or B5O at a loss to get a B6O. I'm trying to compile a source with which these people can make an educated choice. Is it really that much better or is it all just their imagination?
I have a B60 unit. I don't have any previous revisions to compare it to, but I can tell you that...
- Yes, mine creaks. The aluminum bezel is actually separating from the unit slightly in the bottom-right corner.
- Yes, there is backlight bleed. Several spots along the bottom and right edges of the screen.
- Yes, the speakers are still slightly unbalanced. As others discovered, this is a software issue, not a hardware issue.
I'm going to exchange mine today in store. Hopefully I'll have better luck with a replacement... Heck, maybe there's even a newer revision.
I just picked up a B60 version from Bestbuy retail store yesterday. It, so far, does not have any build issues that I am aware of . Love it
I just got my TF . Mine is a B50. Compared to my G2x, i dont notice any bleeding. Im sure there is some because of the nature of LCDs but no complaints. I cant tell and im not looking for an issue to just drive me crazy.
The case does creak though, lol. On the left side. Only once when i first pick it up. Nothing crazy.
Audio seems slightly left justified but compared to the 1 speaker on my ipad2... stereo is welcome regardless. Barely noticable. Sounds good. No more covering 1 speaker and losing audio ha.
Im happy. Walking into this device blindly, i love it. I dont know if its the stock keyboard or the screen sensitivity but it misses a few strokes. Could be me not used to a large keyboard.
It was locked up when i grabbed it this morning after charging all night. I think this is caused by Tegra drivers cause it seems common amoung tegra devices. Luckily its a tablet and not a phone you depend on to be going 24/7.
FUN.

It's because you're not looking for them yet / aren't as picky.
- Crank up the brightness and stand in a dark room.
- The creaking/weak frame you'll start to notice as you use it.
I have a B40, and have some creaks only on the lower left side of the unit, when I use it outside of the case. (I have the portfolio case PRIME)
Some minor light bleed near the bottom right side of the unit, but very minor.
Compared to the Evo 3D where the bottom of that phone has light bleed.
The speakers are un-balanced until I saw the unbalanced left speaker thread, did and the OP said there and seems to be fixed now.
Mine is B5O. Slight creak near the volume and power keys, lightbleed (see pic) and unbalanced speakers (right one is louder). I decided to RMA it only because I'm going on holiday so I won't miss it too much. Actually the more I read about other units and how Asus is handling RMA the more doubts I have if I should send it...

If I only find any light bleed in those conditions I can live it. But a seriously weakening frame would cause me to jump ship. 13 days to make up my mind. But so far so good. Thanks for helping me take notice
I own a B50, and can report zero light bleed, zero creaks, and only a small minor scratch on the lower right frame (not part of the touchscreen, only on the frame).
Everything so far seems to be good, I even tried squeezing the sides some, no creaking!
B50, light bleed at the top left(not bad), not really creaky but the bezel does move a bit. Dead pixel about 1cm from the right side of the screen in the middle vertically. 1 dust remnant under rear camera lens.

The backlight bleed doesn't bother me either. But people want to know if it's there, not if you don't notice it or if it doesn't bother you.
People read these posts of people saying "My transformer is PERFECT! It doesn't have any problems!" and they go nuts thinking theirs is horribly defective.
The Transformer is $100 less than the competition. They had to cut corners somewhere.
I'm only exchanging mine in hopes that it will have a slightly stronger frame (like I said, the aluminum bezel is actually coming off on mine). I'm still expecting it to have build quality issues though.

However it locked up again while i sat it down for an hour. Like it has problems recovering from standby. Running Prime. The G2x did that until Cm7 fixed it.

And the competition has "cut" the exact same corners, despite the higher price tag. Plenty of reports of light bleed, case creak, etc. from the Apple crowd too. They just have a higher proportion of fanboys among their userbase, who will go to any length to pretend that problems don't exist.
I've got a B50. I received three (all B50) from Newegg during the month of June. I kept #2 as it was by far the best of the bunch. As Newegg cross ships replacements, I held unto #2 until I received #3 and they let me send back the newer one since it was also defective.
It still has a couple of flaws:
Light bleed: Although it has the least bleed of the 3 I received, there are still 6-7 small spots visible along the top and bottom when I use the Transformer in the dark even at around 50% brightness. Not noticeable during the day or in a lit room. Even the largest only extends about 1/2 an inch up the screen.
Speakers: Left produces noticeably less volume than the right. This defect was present on all 3 tablets I received. I noticed this immediately and confirmed with the YouTube left/right speaker test.
Dead pixel: One dead pixel. Each of the three had at least one; the first unit I received also had a speck of dust under the screen, the third a larger discolored patch in the middle of the screen. It would be very hard to notice the dead pixel if you were not specifically looking for it. I used the Dead Pixel Test app: near the top of the screen, there is one pin point sized dot that is light grey on a white screen, undetectable on a black screen, and grey/light black on a blue or green screen. There is no dust visible so it must be a screen defect.
White Residue: Very small (third of an inch) thin line along the top of the black border on top. Able to clean most of it off although still faintly visible if you look closely. Could be partly scratched too, not sure.
On the plus side, my Transformer has no creakiness and no separation between the screen and the black border. The other two I received both had easily visible gaps.
I decided the quest for the perfect Transformer was endless and futile. NewEgg refunded me $25 for the hassle of two exchanges; with the $10 coupon I also used, I got my Transformer for $365. For the price, I'm pleased enough with the device.
Mine is also B50 and it has 2 light leaks on the bottom. It did not have creaks when purchased 1 month ago, but now it is creeking horribly on the whole left side under the volume button. IMHO, it is a faulty design. If yours is tight now, don't be surprised when it gets loose and creaky after a little while.
Great attitude: -Do you have any problems with the device? -Nothing at all. -Yes you have dear sir, yes you have!
Just bought my tablet and dock yesterday from Best Buy. B60 Tablet, B50 dock. Tablet feels sturdy but with a slight give on the screen. There is slight light bleed on the bottom left corner. I haven't noticed any speaker issues, I was actually pleasantly surprised. From what I've read in reviews I thought they'd be horrible, but it actually fine for me.
Nothing wonky about the dock yet. Everything seems to work. Overall, I'm pretty happy with it .
I have no clue what revision mine is (don't know how to tell!; but it was purchased way back in may). I can't say I have any real issues; minor light bleed; speakers are more or less balanced but so darn awful I'm not sure it matters (i normally use klipsch s4; which are great on airplanes - nearly 100% isolation). THere is minor backlighting; no obvious dead pixels. Maybe I'm just not picky but I really don't have any significant separation or creaks. Wish it had a usb port.
-
Most of my complaints are software. I have' a few weird periods were part of the screen stop responding to touch (really annoying when trying to unlock the screen and 2 of the numbers won't respond to touch) but reboot always fix the glitches.
-
I have a B40; which make sense given the purchase date.
You can check your revision from the serial number (sticker affixed to the box and under your Transformer, next to the charge port). It's the first three characters.

It's normal. With the phones I've gotten, they all have lightbleed. It was mentioned in most of the online (pre)reviews too...
The Crystal barely has a bezel on 3 sides of the phone so some sacrifices had to be made.
I did read that ~ but the gap is uneven and happen to be (much) larger on the right hand side (bleed almost non existence on left side) on this one ~ I would be a happy camper if it is a large straight line across or bigger in the middle XD.
guess will try my luck with one more
I have the same light bleed, right thicker, left thinner. It's really not a big deal to me, seeing that you have to actually turn the phone away from a normal viewing angle to see the bleed. Listen this phone is $150 and is just downright sexy and fast. Enjoy your phone and stop looking for what may be wrong with it.
i think it normal

If it annoys you then it probably is worth an RMA. This is a symptom of the manufacturing process with AMOLED screens, so they will all have it, some not as much, some much worse. So going for an RMA is a bit of a gamble because you don't know whether your replacement will be better or worse.

I wonder if the new Gold 6PS with the newer build dates have better chances at a uniform screen
I've seen two devices, both January build dates. One was pink across the right side, about 1/2" of noticeable area down the length of the screen. The one I currently have is less pink, but on the entire left half of the screen. It's only noticeable because the right side is more of the greenish blue typical of AMOLED whites. It's only really noticeable in dim ambient lighting, with lower brightness, on white screens (such as browsing), but only when I'm looking at the display for extended periods and trying to notice it. I just picked my phone up right now and opened Messenger, but didn't see any of the pink tint at all unless I kept staring and tried to make out a difference.
It's subjective and up to you. I wish we could all get perfect screens. But it's only visible on white content... anything else you shouldn't notice it. I just hate hearing people RMA'ing 10 times because it certainly isn't good for Google or Huawei. It's the nature of the beast with AMOLED tech currently. Unless you have something crazy bad with your display, I feel like most people are making it a larger issue than it needs to be. If you want a perfect uniform white, go get an LCD and enjoy backlight bleed, poor contrast, etc. Until AMOLED gets perfected, there is going to be a potential, but slight, trade off.

I agree with your point, but unfortunately in the case of the 6P I had to RMA for other reasons too. My volume rocker warped inwards, as so has many other people reporting on XDA and reddit threads. I am not sure how it happened, as I baby my phones and keep them well taken care of. I just took my case off one day and noticed it. There must be something wrong with the structural integrity of the device. Other than these 2 issues, the phone is perfect for me, but I am hesitant on ordering another one now.
On my second 6P the lower part of the screen has a yellowish tint while the upper seems more pinkish/warmer. My first 6P which was this year's build had a uniform but pinkish display loose rattling buttons and imbalanced speakers and bonus low volume output from 3.5 jack. The replacement had all those issues resolved except from the screen which is not uniform and it's noticeable. Problem is no Google and easy RMA process in my country. It's pain in arse to get a replacement and you have to wait up to 1 week without a device to get it and they will not repeat it for second time except if the issue is really serious. By my experience this phone has really cheap QC issues. Judging from reddit and XDA most come with some sort of problems. Be it it uneven displays, buttons, reboots, speakers etc. I won't buy a Huawei device ever again. Those issues does not let me enjoy this phone as I should. I still love it but I can't recommend it to any of my friends due to the QC issues. It's a Russian roulette with very high probability to lose.
