Best place to buy transformer

So i want to buy the transformer today, and i was wondering where is the best place to buy? I am in the US, in IL, but because of the quality control issues, I want to be able to take it back if I have to. Also, price is an issue, as it seems to vary. A lot of places have it online, but do any stores carry it yet? As for online companies, they are ok, but it would be nice to at least have a store to return to if i need to..I guess another issue would be getting one of the newer models that might have fixed the power cord issues and some QC issues. I searched for an answer, but I didn't find anything really giving advice on where to buy, now that it is actually in stock in some places...thanks!

lol i hear ya...especially cook county...but amazon only has them for 453 right now? seems like the price keeps moving around...i have prime too so i would do it, but the extra 50 bucks kills it

Amazon charges sales tax here. Newegg does not.

I bought mine from Toys R Us on Wednesday for 399.99, plus they gave me a $25 dollar gift card that I used towards the purchase. I'm loving my Transformer so far! I just wish I could figure out how to Tether it with my Blackberry

I got mine in Fry's Burbank, CA. Have not run into any problems with it so far and have not seen and noticeable bleeding either.

Got mine at Newegg for $389 with no tax and free shipping by registering a new accounts and using the "newcustomer10" coupon. Not much of a savings but it was the best deal I could find until the TD one yesterday.
Newegg was also was willing to cross ship when I had to exchange my first Transformer due to some defects.

I bought my 32GB from Amazon. The 16GB was $50 more than the original price. I would recommend Best Buy.

Amazon always sell at retail price. The over-retail must have been a 3rd-party seller.
And yes, Amazon are definitely the best place to buy from now that the shortage is over. Amazing customer service and 30-day hassle-free return.

Psugtooq, are you saying that Newegg sent you a replacement before they received the damaged one back???

I ended up going with newegg...good call on the new customer code...i used it also...amazon had the 16gb 50 over and it was direct through them...i know its not normal but it was so....newegg has been good in the past and I heard alot of crap about td and their shipping...plus it was through ebay too and that can get interesting...great price though

Yep. After I sent back the defective one, I went into live chat and politely asked that Newegg send out a replacement immediately as I didn't want to have to wait 2 weeks for them to process the RMA and issue an exchange. The rep told me to call their customer service 1-800 number and ask for an "advanced replacement." I did so and a replacement was sent out the next day with their standard 3 day shipping (arrived in 2). Their was no additional charge, just the stipulation that my CC will be charged if the original isn't received within 30 days.

I just found out today that Costco just dropped their price on the A500 from $479.99 to $429.99 ($50). Good times!

I do not thing so

Is this a permanent price drop or is it only temporary? I'm looking at getting one but don't know when I'll be able to because I'm still saving up but other hobbies are taking up my money.

I too got my $50 but I had additional hoops to jump through. Since I was outside the traditional 30 day return window, (where costco can send back to the manufacturer) I had to go and BUY a whole new unit at the 429 price, take it over to refunds and return it on my original receipt. A little bit of trouble (had to have $429 available to buy the unit), but hey, it reset my 90 day return window and it reset my 3 year warranty (2 year costco, 1 year AMEX)

May I ask how to get the 15% off? Haven't found any coupon on it ...

Walked in, showed receipt, origional purchase date 50 days ago, no problem, credited my account.
Even gave me back my $50 membership since they aren't building one near where I live for 2 more years!

I think the price is going down to complete directly with the Transformer. Also, the newer models are out with more memory and the Windows platform.
The reason other places are still at the higher prices my assumption is that these units are already in channel at a price point from Acer (to ensure they had enough stock to sell). They do not want to sell these on thinner margins. Although...do they accept price matches with Walmart or Target?

Costco has a 32GB version, what about Walmart? From walmart online, the price for 16GB is still $449, the 32GB is $498, so the b&m price is 398 now for 16GB, right?

Since I was 2 weeks outside the traditional 30 days return policy. I got $50.00 cash card instead......

the october date is suspect to me, that to me says Acer is bringing out another unit in Oct.

If my math is correct that is like getting the A500 for $349 .

Tiger direct sells refurbs for $329 and packages with the dock for $419. I got mine for $299 during their mlk sale. I'm sure if you are willing to wait a little bit they will come down again.
Also have you considered ebay? I think it's nbhseller that sells asus recertified for $298. (lowest price in google shopping)

Just remember that if you have a Staples in your state you have to pay taxes.

The store didn't have one in stock, but they ordered one that will ship direct to me for free in 1 to 3 business days.
If you try to purchase it online the coupon will not work. But will work in the store. The coupon's good thru June 8th.

Based on what you posted I went to Office Max at lunch time and scored my Note 8. 0. They had it in stock. Cashier was surprised that the coupon worked. I was Going to try and hold out for the brown/black model that is allegedly coming out soon but this deal was too good to pass up

Please do not use xda in order to advertise commercial products.
