Hi,
I wanted to try the Roto JME firmware, and I flashed it using the instructions at the dev forum. It seemed to work nice. Now I want to get back to stock firmware, and I am having a lot of trouble doing it.
I tried downloading the stock ROM at the sticky thread in the dev forum and decrypt it. It is not possible for me, I have tried four different computers with both Win XP and Win 7. All I get is "System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80040154)".
Anyhow, I downloaded the file already decrypted at the first post in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=881952&highlight=Official+ROMs.
I extracted the zip-file and in Odin v.1.70, I selected PDA = JME.tar which I got from the zip-file. I did not select re-partition. Odin says PASS! but the galaxy tab goes to a screen with a triangle with a exclamation mark in it, and it says "E:Can't mount /dev/block/stl10
(invalid argument)
E:copy_dbdata_media:Can't mount DBDATA:
your storage is not prepared yet, please use UI menu for format and reboot actions.
copy default media content failed. "
I tried the reboot option. The screen says "SAMSUNG" and nothing happens. I don't dare try the other options.
Please help, I don't know what to do!
Sounds like the internal sd is corrupted. Try a factory reset in recovery

That did not work. It still just shows the Samsung logo, it waits some time and then it vibrates, and it seems it does some kind of new boot atempt.
Please help!
No one can help me?
Please.
I think you need to get a copy of dbdata.rfs.tar and flash it using odin.
You can find a link to download it in the second post in this thred.

Thanks man, it worked!
Still not back to stock FW though. I wonder why no-one has written a howto on that.
No problem
I have been using jk5 firmware which allowed my at&t tab to make calls. However, I noticed after a while, that 90% of my use of the tab was wifi and certain apps would not download because the vendor thought my app was from a different country. None the less, I thought it was best for me to just return to the stock firmware. i called Samsung, told them I wanted stock firmware back on my tab, they gave me a prepaid ups label and I just shipped it off today for a 7 day turnaround.
What?! So you're saying there is no known procedure for getting back to stock, without calling samsung? This is ridiculous... So I have a tab wich is more or less ruined in regards to future official updates, i.e. Honeycomb and such?
I feel sad and fooled..
If you know what the original firmare was, you can download it at samfirmware.com
I think the rom you downloaded has the protected bootloader :-(
Doesn't restoring your rotobackup get back to stock?
Just have have to remove the root , unlock and any other changes after restore?
Can't you point me to a description on how to do that? I would be very grateful.
If you have a signed bootloader you cant go back to stock until the new fix is ready. Read all about it here

Guys,
I need your urgent assistance .. I think I have bricked my phone and need assistance.. Basically I was running the Official ICS ROM which I got from XDA website it was the LQ2 kernel for the Galaxy Note.
Last night I custom flashed the Criskelo ICS v7 ROM but wasn't too happy and wanted to go back to stock ICS .. So I went into PC Odin and flashed the stock ICS Firmware.. upon booting I went into CWM (Volume up + home+power) did a factoy reset and cache, dalvik cache wipe.. Then reboot system.. The phone was stuck on the Samsung Galaxy Note screen .. So I tried to Flash the Stock ICS LQ2 rom again via PC Odin and now it just hangs almost at 90% at factoryfs.img?
Am I completely messed up or is there a way to resolve this please can you guys assist me in what I must do.. I don't know if this is a soft or super brick..
Many Thanks..
PS: I even did the PIT file thing and still no joy
you custom flashed??
what do u mean u custom flashed??
Get a rom with bootloader in it. Don t use repartition. Make sure you flash the bootloader.
Sounds like you wiped from a stock Samsung kernel, which is a big no no. The only way to fix this is to repartition your phone with a .pit file that has been designed not to use the the corrupted sectors of your internal storage. If you search hard enough, you'll find a thread about it. I successfully recovered a phone I bricked way back with the first LP1 ICS kernel. It does work! You'll lose some space though.

Yes I factory reset a STOCK ICS ROM .. please can you assist in what I need to do.. Which PIT file and which ROM Shall I try to flash with.. please assist.. Many thanks..
Thanks for your help guys .. followed the german dudes tutorial and downloaded the .PIT file and managed to re flash stock ICS .. Now the only issue is my internal memory is showing 8.24 GB.. what happened to the other approx 8GB? I thought the Note was 16GB? Before windows used to show it as 11GB but now showing 8.24 GB is there a fix for this or is the bad or do I have to live with it.. ?
read the whole tut again it tells you why since you have to move partition tables.
Yes...it's a rather small deal anyway...there are 64gb SD card after all.

My advice is "live with it". Coz what the "German dudes" pit files do is avoid the "locked" sectors in your internal card. While you can try different pit files or try create new partitions via adb -- you probably wont gain much.
Or you could send it to Sammy for a warranty claim, after resetting the flash counter and then bricking it again via odin using the original pit file. Basically what you need to do is erase all evidence that u tampered with it. This is a risky option... (You can tell them phone got messed up in kies upgrade). This happened to me (on an almost new note, so i kinda did the same, except that i went a step further and deleted the boot-loader as well = hard brick. However i dont recommend it). And they replaced the phone.
I emphasize again this is risky -- and do more research before if you do this.
Problem as of now is since you've modified the pit -- and also the phone is working, you cant claim now.

Thanks for your assitance bro.. I will live with it. .I don't mind loosing 3 gb .. Already got 32GB SD card so no issue. Just happy its all back up and running really.. Big thanks to the German brother you the man
Its Forest1971 who first wrote this workaround and it was hg42 who rewrote the pit file and it was Dr null who proposed this way, Its all XDA members who helped you out of this brick. Not some German sites. Google throws up German results first
I am not harsh by anyway saying this. Just want to write it as it happened.
Was witnessing all the issues.
I am writing a guide for Noobies for bricks. Guess I get some help ....

I actually followed his guide and repartioned manually and only lost about one Gbyte vs using the pit file and losing over 3 G bytes. Took a lot of trial and error though

hi! i was in the same state as you! now, listen very carefully. Now, all you have to do is to use another PC and run ordin. Everything should work fine! My note was soft-bricked yesterday night and i had tried endless counts of tries just to get it up and running. Just earlier today,I saw someone who posted a comment in a similar forum and suggested that you should try a different PC it worked. AND IT worked for me now, just use this pit file that i had upload and download any (G-N7000)stock firmware that has (code.md5, modem.md5 and csc.md5). just place the pit file in ordin. ( do note you will lose 3gb of your internal memory) and click start hopefully it worked for you

Not necessary to use the 3gb regain patch.
There's a 1gb or 2gb regain patch also. And it's enough.

Though so many ppl told u alrd, i just want to say, in any case, when u r in ICS alrd, it is totally prohibited to do factory reset through CWM with samsung ICS original kernel.
When u need to wipe or factory reset, make sure u r on a safe kernel like speedmod or notecore.
If u want to recover ur note, just use the pit file method. It works.
Make sure u use the correct patch of 16gb or 32gb, depends on ur note.
Always try from the smallest patch, so u won't loose so many storage.
Anyway, latest CriskeloROm with speedmod is the best for battery life nd performance.

So we dont need 3 files ROM?
Was running Paranoid Android ver 23/10
Tried to restore the Note back to the latest UK stock ROM via ODIN
Forgot to wipe/davlik before hand
then got stuck in boot loop
Then tried flashing a rooted GB rom in ODIN
stuck now on the Samsung Note boot screen occasionally looping.
Then tried flashing an original non-rooted GB rom in Odin
got stuck on Data.img
Now the screen shows three images and the message
firmware upgrade encountered an issue
Now with the Samsung Repair centre in Eastbourne and they are failing to be able to do anything...In fact they have just told me the phone is plugged in set in ENGINEERS MODE...???
Is there any advice I can give them, I was lead to believe it was bricked and thought they had sent it away to have a new board, but now its plugged in engineers mode.
Confused any advice would be very helpful.

If they don't know nobody knows!!!
If it was in Boot loop how do you thought it was bricked. After this "latest UK stock ROM via ODIN" you told it got stuck in boot loop. There was nothing to worry, you could have gone to recovery wiped data, cache & Dalvik you should have been fine. You don't have to do all other things.
And please don't post it in "Dev" thread please take it to general section. I think you know this already
Sorry, have asked mods to move this thread

A little PSA for the N9007 model owners (Mainly Australian Optus and Virgin Mobile customers) out there.
If you are looking at your branded Note 3 N9007, and are thinking, "Hmm, that non-branded TGY-region ROM looks like a fine choice to de-brand my phone with", think again.
TGY-region ROM N9007ZHU3ANG2 WILL SOFTBRICK YOUR DEVICE! It is for the 16 GB variety of the N9007, and as such, has a different partition table. I suspect this is the case with all TGY-region ROMs too.
On top of that, you will NOT be able to flash back to the latest OPS (N9007DIUCNE6) ROM, as it has an older bootloader (NE6 as opposed to NG2) and will prevent you from flashing back to it.
If you have already befallen this trap and soft-bricked your device, then I will try to help you briefly in recovering your ~$800 smartphone.
This technique of unbricking your device WILL TRIP KNOX, but unless you're willing to wait for Optus to come out with a new stock ROM, then this is likely your only option to unbrick.
yiannig has successfully unbricked his Note 3, so it is definitely possible to recover from this.
1. You've got a soft-bricked N9007 32 GB, make sure it actually is an N9007 with 32 GB of storage. Read the box. This has only been tested on this model.
2. Download this BTU N9005 NG1 ROM and flash it with Odin. Version 3.07 is reported to work best on the Note 3. It will fail as soon as you start the flash. This is meant to happen. It will give us access to the stock recovery and will get past the Emergency Download Mode. I have no idea why it does this, but it does.
This next step WILL TRIP KNOX.
3. Download TWRP Recovery for the N9005. Flash this with Odin. Odin will reset your phone but after Odin says "Removed!!", unplug your phone and power it off by holding the power button. "PASS" won't actually come up until it times out after 2 minutes so ignore it, it works fine. Power it back on again by holding Volume Up + Home + Power. it will tell you recovery is not SEAndroid-enforcing, this is fine, and is the thing that trips KNOX.
4. Once the recovery has booted (It's really cool-looking and you can use the touch screen~) Go to wipe, and wipe system. It will see that there is no system partition and will create one from the PIT info, at least I think that's what it does. The thing is, it shows up as successful, so that's all that matters.
5. Download SweetROM or EchoeROM. Both are confirmed to flash correctly, SweetROM by me, EchoeROM by yiannig. Put it on a microSD card and put the card in your phone. Alternatively, put it on a USB drive and connect it to your phone with an OTG cable, then mount it using TWRP's mount tool.
6. Flash the ROM! After flashing, tap the button to wipe Dalvik and cache, just in case. Then, reboot your phone! The first boot will take a while probably, but your phone will very most likely work.
If you're worried about losing half your storage due to flashing the TGY-region ROM, don't fret, the PIT file comes off the phone and not from the actual ROM .tar.md5, so no re-partitioning will occur and you will have all 32 GB of storage.
Again, huuuuuge thanks to yiannig for helping, without him my N9007 would still be sitting in my bag while I used an old HTC One XL with a busted digitiser!
EDIT: I forgot to mention, your modem will likely be just fine, but if it is not, download the latest OPS-region ROM (N9007DIUCNE6), rename it so the .md5 is not on the end, extract it with WinRAR, get the modem.bin and flash that with Odin.
This technique *may* work for TGY-region 16GB N9007 users who have soft-beicked their device somehow, but I have no guarantees that it will work.
Ugh! This socks. I just wrote a whole message then it got erased. Oh well.
Hi, I need help....obviously. I have an att note 3 n900a. I'm not going repeat all of my awesome and amazing story, but just note that I got to a point where I needed to get back to stock with my special "in case of brick" folder. Also, I had alliance rom official v6 as my custom. Anyways, I used Odin 3.09 and loaded up my files. And my dumb ass forgot to put csc files on external. It flashed and said success. Now when I power on I get stuck at "Samsung galaxy note 3" logo. I can get to download and recovery, but my computer no longer recognizes the phone since the flash. Yes new drivers and adb drivers and all that have been tried......the point is that I can't get Odin to see the phone. I can get to recovery and am thinking an external sd flash may be the best method.
Please advise with links and all that. And please please please break it down [Barney Style] for me. Barney style means to break it down into steps that even an awkward child from the Barney series can understand it........I'm slow. Lol. I also lost my external......guess I gotta buy a new one. Thanks for any help and definitely suggest anything you think will help even if you think I've tried it. Thank you all!
Update: I purchased a 32gb SanDisk micro sd and guess what! External sd method not working. Was trying to flash back to alliance and while I can search the sd and select the alliance zip I am prompted with the message -- Install /sdcard . . .
