Hi guys,
I bought a phone from Amazon.de which was an unlocked Vodafone branded E900. I want to use it on o2 uk.
I've been following the thread over here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=935578 which has been absolutely brilliant.
I'm really struggling to put my phone into Emergency Download mode. I get right up to the stage where I've selected the COM port range and set the DLL and European open firmware in LGDP2_V36_UMTS, but when I connect the phone it just boots up as usual.
How can I put it into Emergency Download mode so it accepts the older firmware?
Would really appreciate the help, not being able to set up MMS or proper APNs is driving me crazy. I cannot use the LG Network Setup app as I get the common "LG ADC feature was been disabled" error.
Many thanks for all your help, I really appreciate it.
Paul
Model: LG-E900
OS Version: 7.0.7392.0
Firmware version: 1.0.7.10
Have you done these steps?
4. The phone call # # 634 # (# # # MFG)
5. MFG application appears, the password is 277634 # * # (* # # APPMFG)
6. Go to Menu then 7.Engineering 3.Port 1.USB Switching Setting then select 2.QC Composite, change the driver for the USB, reboot the phone
Mine wasn't working either till I did that. Then emergency download mode was no problem.
Answered my own question - the software would not access the phone using Windows 7 (64 bit) but worked absolutely fine on the girlfriend's WinXP netbook.
I now have beautifully unlocked European firmware.
Now, roll on Mango
As for Emergency Download Mode, that caught me out. The keys to hold down are:
Vol *down*, Camera and Power.
The instructions imply VOL+ (i.e. Vol Up). Not!
i tried it is vol down/cam/power .
im also trying to put this phone in emergency mode but still no luck! i press vol down then camera and then power on but the phone boots normally!
what am i doing wrong?
i have to do vol down camera and power on and then put the usb cable?
how many seconds do i have to hold them?
the phone always boots normally its driving me crazy!!!!!!!!!!!
thanks a lot in advance for the help!
I press only 2 buttons: Volume down+Cam and then insert USB cable and I have Emergency/Download mode
I know I'm just a rid bit late but try this at adb prompt adb reboot edl

I just spent the afternoon recovering my phone after the OTA update.
I was able to get into download mode using the following:
With the phone powered off hold BOTH volume keys while simultaneously plugging the USB cable(that is already attached to your pc) into the phone.
Worked every time for me. Hope this helps.
Hi I have tried that and other buttons combination for the past 30 mins and found nothing. I have read into that any vibrant from the batch in august have been disabled for the download mode, is this true?
Pull the battery out first.
plug in usb
hold up, down and power buttons
reinsert battery with free hand.

That's how it works for me.
If I hold the power button while doing the above I only go into recovery mode.
i'm starting to get worry because i tried everything and nothing is happening. it is as if my phone has disable the recovery mode.
The volume up/down button thing never worked for me either. For me, the only thing that works is adb (the android debug bridge). Download/install the samsung drivers, and the android SDK (see messages on this board for links & instructions).
On the phone go to Settings -> Applications -> Development and check the USB Debugging box. Connect your phone to your computer via the USB cable, open a command prompt & type 'adb devices' w/out the quotes. You should get one listed device if you've done the above correctly. Then type 'adb reboot download' to put your phone into download mode.

I've encountered the following problem with my Galaxy Note 4: I just bought it online from a guy who turned out to be a fraud and I was not able to find or contact him again via the internet market place. So that was really stupid of me...and expensive...and I regret it very much and with hind site I should have picked up the signs but...o well you got the picture...I got ripped.
Anyways after careful inspection it turned out to be a real genuine Note 4 N910F with 64 Gb but with a korean or chinese or something recovery mode (I saw it once when I got home), an imei not to be found on any stolen phone list and working correctly with an european rom that includes English and Dutch at that point.
That's when I decided to factory reset it and then I got into trouble again: For some reason it got stuck in a boot loop with just a No Command message. Normally you can reach the recovery mode by pressing Volume Up +Home +Power but now nothing happens. It's not a real brick but with just the No Command message and no access to the recovery mode I don't know how to fix this.
Can anyone help me with a clue on how to get out of a No Command loop without recovery mode? Or how to get into recovery mode if start with Key Up etc does not work? Or any other clue that could help me?
Thanks in advance!
Kind regards,
Rene (aka the guy who got ripped off but hopes to save the phone)
Can you get into download mode?
Thanks dr.mOx for responding!
I tried both volume up+home+power to get into recovery mode and also volume down+home+power to get into download mode but in both cases the device starts and shows me the android robot on it's back with a red warning triangle containing an exclamation mark and below the robot the message "No command." . The screen blinks every two or three seconds. The power button is not shutting the phone down in this state. I have to remove the battery to retry.
Battey out. Then in. Go to download mode. Flash stock rom with odin

Hi Ozzyblack. The thing is that, if I'm correct, when I press volume down+home+power to get into download mode I expect some sort of menu to appear asking to go into download mode or not. Am I correct? I saw same sceendump about that. And now I keep getting the No Command window. Do you think I miss something here? I do press volume down first, then home (keeping volume down pressed), and them the power button (keeping all buttons pressed). After a few seconds the display turns a bit more grey for a sec and then the android robot appears. But no message of sorts about getting into download mode.
Hi reborn67.
**Only if you have a galaxy note 4 N910F model**
If you can get into download mode your safe, and you can reflash an offical ROM, there is no menu system in Download mode so don't worry.
Don't stay in download mode forever or a long time, i.e. power off and wait till you have the ROM and Odin before you go into download mode as it sometimes times out even though it still shows in download mode.
Go to here http://samsung-updates.com/details/37086/Galaxy_Note_4_Snapdragon/SM-N910F/DBT/N910FXXU1ANK4.html download the ROM, and then download Odin here https://mega.co.nz/#!UdRRyCAT!H4FyVxYynNWvXqRNmnpMGQRCP-dG3uykgP2pT4rh8Ek
These are the instructions from sammobile on how to flash ROm with Odin.Instructions
1-Extract (unzip) the firmware file
2-Download Odin v3.09
3-Extract Odin zip-file
4-Open Odin v3.09 (make sure the extracted rom file "N910FXXU1ANK4_N910FOXA1ANK4_N910FXXU1ANK4_HOME.tar.md5" is in the same folder as Odin before opening up Odin.
5-Reboot phone in Download Mode (press and hold Home + Power + Volume Down buttons)
6-Connect phone and wait until you get a blue/orange sign in Odin (above text top left ID:COM)
7-Add the firmware file to AP / PDA
IMPORTANT** Make sure re-partition is NOT ticked
Click the start button, sit back and wait a few minutes
I always do a hard reset after flashing new ROM's (settings, backup and reset, factory data reset)
I have a network locked UK N910F on EE and use this German ROM with no problems, this ROM has little bloatware.
Thanks gadjet. I do have odin and a stock rom ready for use now:
1-I tested odin and the usb port plus driver setup with my 'old' galaxy s4 and within a second the ID:Com in Odin turns blue. So that seems to be working fine.
2-So now I put in the Note 4 battery and connect to usb WITHOUT ANY KEYS PRESSED...just to test! And the usb connection bleeps from windows confirm a device is connected...so far so good.
3-Last and most important step fails: Reboot phone in Download Mode (press and hold Home + Power + Volume Down buttons), the 'no command' robot is still there, and also connect phone and wait until you get a blue/orange sign in Odin (above text top left ID:COM) never happens. And also there are no windows usb connection bleeps so apparently there's a difference when I tried to select download mode.
Please know that I'm really thankful for all the great tips. But I guess I'm still missing something here.
Kind regards,
Rene

This is different
Turn your phone off or make sure it’s turned off.
Press and hold the Volume Up, Home and Power buttons simultaneously.
When the phone vibrates, release the Home and Power buttons, but keep pressing Volume Up button.

OK, corrupt boat-loader Samsung service centre repair job, or local phone repair job.
Requires boot chip to be reflashed at board level.
Sorry we couldn't get you going bud..:crying:
Thanks for trying guys!
I'll see if I can find a local phone repair store.
I used to have the same problem with my SM-P605 when I flashed some ROM in the summer, the only special thing I did was not giving up and after all I got to the Download mode. Hope it'll work for you without Service.
Good Luck
Today I went to visit an official Samsung store. They told me I bought a very good but fake Note 4 and it is not likely it can be recovered. The weight is incorrect...a bit to heavy. Also the serial numbers are unknown in the samsung database and some other details were not correct. Thanks again for trying to help me! I now officially have a really expensive brick that looks like a note 4.:crying:
same issue i am facing..i tried all..but it shows no command error and no menu shows up
ill be going to get my phone checked today..if i get any way out ill let u know
What you did later to recover ? I'm facing the same problem I've visited samsung service centre but they are unable to solve it.
Can you guys help me for my phone Samsung note 4 because its just keep repeating in a logo SAMSUNG...
I tried pressing volume down+home button+power then got "WARNING CUSTOM OS... and stuff and then I press volume high+home button+power then I got the logo SAMSUNG that keeps on repeating. Please help me what to do
Hello,
I tried installing Android Lollipop (Unofficial nightly build of CyanogenMod 12.0) on my LG G2 D802 model and now my phone is totally stuck in the boot. At first it shows the LG logo and then it show the LG logo and the text "Security Error" underneath. I think I've tried all combinations of "button-holding" during startup but I'm not able to access the recovery mode (or any other mode). I've tried hooking it up with the computer (Windows 8.1) but it doesn't seem to see it.
I'm pretty embarrassed by the whole situation :silly: so any help/guidance would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.
Edit:
I've made some progress, but still not enough to get me through this. For some strange reasons the hardware shortcuts seem to be different for me than what is normally advertised on this forum (and the Internet).
I'm able to get into "Hardware Key Control Mode" using Vol-Down + Power + Vol-Up... not that is really useful.
I'm also able to get into "Factory data reset" i press Vol-Down + Power, then once the LG logo shows: Vol-Down + Vol-Up.
(Other places say I should press Vol-Down + Power, then Vol-Up + Power).
However that doesn't really fix anything. It momentarily shows the green Droid being operated on (1-2 seconds) but then shuts down. Then still the "Security Error"
So now I'm wondering if there is any other key-combination to get me into download/recovery mode?
Try just holding volume up when device reboots. And make sure your attached to a usb, this should get you to download mode. To reboot hold power button until reboot.

Thanks for the reply but that doesn't work either.
I tried the following:
Holding the Volume down button (while phone is off) and plugging in the USB
Holding the Volume Up button (while phone is off) and plugging in the USB
Holding the Volume down + Volume Up button (while phone is off) and plugging in the USB
I've tried two USB ports on my computer, USB2 and USB3. All of the above leave me at the same "Security Error" screen.
I've also tried:
Powering it on while holding VolDown + Power, when LG logo comes up - release it and immediately do the same thing again and hold them down => the phone just turns off
Press and hold the Volume Down button and the Power button, when the LG logo is displayed release the Power button only then immediately press and hold the Power button again => does nothing.
Press and hold the Volume Down button and the Power button, when the LG logo is displayed release both buttons and then immediately press and hold the both buttons again => does nothing.
Tried the same as above, but with Volume Up
Hoping for more suggestions!
As this is the internation version of the phone (D802) I was wondering if there might be a different combination of buttons to access the download mode or the recovery mode... anyone have a clue?
I really don't want to throw away my phone
If you have removed your laf partition to allow access to fastboot you won't be able to access download mode. Another is that you say your key combos seem to be different... Where did you purchase the phone? From eBay/Craigslist style websites or from your carrier? It's possible that you don't actually have the model you believe you have.

I did all sorts of stuff when I tried to install this (very hackish and little research) but I don't remember removing the laf partition (not that I know what that is - but I do remember messing with partitions because the phone doesn't have an external SD card). If I can't access download mode, is there anything else that I can do? Is it possible it is ruined? Really?
The phone was bought new from a respectable company here in Iceland and the sticker on the box says it's LG-D802. It has an IMEI number and a S/N (any way for me to verify based on that?)
There's a nice thread on here somewhere regarding unbricking a phone that's lost download mode. I'd link you it but I'm not near my PC ATM. You can verify model on the LG support page I believe. As for the unbricking, be prepared with an Ubuntu live CD to follow the instructions.
Edit: I noticed you said you were messing with the partitions, what exactly did you do with them? It may be of help.

I'm guessing you are referring to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2582142
I hade downloaded Ubuntu and ran it in VMWare but it didn't seem to see any traces of my phone. I ran "ls /dev/sd*" but didn't find the phone there. Windows doesn't see anything either (e.g. device manager, nothing happens when I plug in the USB). Wonder if it would help if I ran Ubuntu directly from a USB stick? (The thread did say it was OK to run within a virtual machine)
Any further pointers appreciated!
Make sure that your phone has been passed through to VMware via the USB status icon in the lower right corner. It may indeed be easier to run it from a USB stick as you won't need to mess with the USB Virtualization layer in VMware as much. And I do believe that is the thread I was meaning.

Hi, this is me again... now posting from Ubuntu (from a USB stick). I tried the instructions given in the mentioned thread but my phone does not seem to show up at all:
Code:
[email protected]:~# ls /dev/sd*
/dev/sda /dev/sdb /dev/sdc /dev/sdc2 /dev/sde /dev/sdg /dev/sdh1
/dev/sda1 /dev/sdb1 /dev/sdc1 /dev/sdd /dev/sdf /dev/sdh
Once I plug in the phone and execute the same command, it gives me the same results. I've executed it multiple times during the phone startup but it didn't show up for one second. I even tried executing it during the "Reset Data to factory" process... no difference. I verified the USB port was working OK by sticking (another) USB key into it and running the command and that drive showed up just fine (using ls /dev/sd*).
Love to hear more - and thanks again for helping out! :good:
Plug it into a windows machine if available and let us know how it's showing up (if at all) in device manager. Look especially for any device mentioning "qualcomm".

Hi,
I see no traces of it in Windows / Device Manager (see screenshot)
It may be a hard brick, in which case you may need to get a replacement. Sadly if you're not seeing Qualcomm devices anywhere in any of the categories in device manager, then the phone isn't entering qcom bulk mode which is bad :/ I guess that if you're worried about warranty you could possibly use the update gone bad excuse to get an RMA but I'm not sure if that will fly.

I have the same problem, no download mode on my G2 (European version, stock kitkat without root, bought it a week ago).
Just to be safe, the way I tried to launch it into download mode was:
1. Powering off the device.
2. Holding the volume up button.
3. Plugging in the USB cable (while still holding the volume up button)
The LG logo shows up for a while, after which the charging animation shows ups...

Your phone must be turned off
So, press power button and select “power off”.
Then, press the volume up button on your LG G2.
While you are holding the volume up button, plug in your phone’s USB cable.
Keep pressing the Volume up button until the download mode is being displayed.
that is the known method for G2 unless you flashed a custom boot-loader or changed the keys to enter download mode or recovery etc .... now try to enter a hard reset mode but don't apply it or all your data will be gone i say again don't approve it it is power+Vol down
if it works i think the keys combination are still in default then try to enter download mode again
if it didn't work return the mobile to be fixed or changed
Thanks for your reply!
The method you described is the same as the one I used, unfortunately it doesn't seem to work. I can't seem to get it to boot into recovery either...
I believe this reddit post describes my problem:
https://www.reddit.com/r/lgg2/comments/2n4gqa/unrooted_lg_g2_on_stock_android_442_kitkat_will/
The OP's conclusion is:
So I rooted and installed AutoRec and that got me Download Mode. Afterwards I used LG Flash Tool to flash the stock KDZ file onto my device to unroot it and to see if Download Mode is still enabled which it was not.
I believe this is LG's way of preventing users from upgrading to unofficial/unreleased firmware.

I managed to fix the issue by performing an emergency recovery using LG software. It must have been caused by one of the OTA updates.
Hello to all here at xda im a new member and im hoping someone can help me,
I recently bought a yotaphone 2 from tinydeals in china and its model
P05-Yota which I think is china model YD-205 or 206
I wanted to upgrade the firmware to the latest firmware and I think I made two big mistakes.
First when I downloaded the yotaflasher software for windows I chose the eu firmware on option 2 and clicked to download it.also I dont think I put usb debugging on my phone.i put my phone into diwnloading mode and connected the phone to my pc.my pc recognised the phone and I clicked on option 1 in yotaflasher to flash mobile.
The flash process started but failed on most of the things it was supposes to get access to, my phone reatarted and now its on constant boot loop which shows the android logo.i can boot phone back into downloading mode but nothink else
I have read that as my phone is in boot loop and can still boot into downloading mode its soft bricked and not hard bricked so im guessing thats good news.
This is my own fault and im not very experienced in all this flashing and I fing yotaflasher hard to understand compared to odin ive used on samsung phones before
Please can anyone help a complete novice to revive his mobile
I would be greatful for any help and instructions and dont know if im allowed to do this on this site so I appologise to moderators if im not, but anyone that can help me get my phone working again I will transfer £20 to their paypal account as I would appreciate this help alot
Im sorry for being a noob and hope to hear from someone soon
Thx

Sorry for my very, very bad english.
Try to reboot your phone in recovery mode.
Press power button for a long time (20 - 30 seconds or more) and, as soon as the screen turn off, press and hold the Volume Up + Power button simultaneously for about 10 seconds. Then, choose wipe data and factory reset.
Try several times if that does not work at once.
I made a big mistaske too and I solved the problem but with several attemps.
Good luck !
I appreciate your help

Just a quick question, yotaflasher is a software im not familiar with and im not sure if im using it right.
Do I start yotaflasher and then type 2 and enter tochoose region.then type the number for the firmware I want and press enter.then when its finished downloading it seems ro freeze and I cant type any key to start flash so I have to exit software then restart it.
Do I then just type 1 and enter to start flashing phone then thats it or do you have to type proper commands into this software ro get it to work as im not sure if im using it right
I will be home in couple of hrs to test out what you told me
Thx

1. without any software, reset your phone : turn off your phone (or, if it's not possible, press power button for a long time :20 - 30 seconds or more - and, as soon as the screen turn off) --> press and hold the Volume Up + Power button simultaneously for about 10 seconds. Then, choose "wipe data and factory reset" and wait...

3 . install yotaflasher (so you also have the drivers on your computer).
4. put your phone on download mode : turn off your phone - then, press and hold the Volume down + Power button simultaneously for about 10 seconds
5. open yotaflasher on your computer and connect your phone (wich is on download mode)
6. chose the last EU firmware (option 2) and download it - after, click on option 1 and flash your mobile. Wait the necessary time without touch anything and, after maybe 10 ou 15 minutes, your phone will reboot.
We have the same phone from Tinydeals and I'm now on lolipop (after the flash).
Good luck !

Yes, I know, don't worry, I bug my phone too - it's why you have, first, to reset your phone... try to put it on recovery mode, it's the only solution (I think).
--> Press the power button for a long time (20 - 30 seconds or more) and, as soon as the screen turn off, press and hold the Volume Up + Power button simultaneously for about 10 seconds. Then, you will see a menu : choose "wipe data and factory reset".
Try several times if that does not work at once.
