I can't post to the dev forum:

I followed the OP'd instructions above, then I spoke with Samsung tech support. Apparently the Tab can function as a mass storage device when plugged into a Windows Vista or Windows 7 machine. They acknowledge that mass storage function doesn't work for Win XP yet (working on patch, release date unknown).
I was able to transfer files of any type to the Tab using a Windows 7 machine...just like a USB thumb drive!
Not able to get it working on Win XP or a Mac as described elsewhere on this forum. Anybody have luck with this so far?

Like the title says, my IO tab isn't being seen by either my Mac or windows machines.
I have adb w sdk set up on both, IO device drivers on both and Samsung Kies and Kies mini respectively installed on both.
What am I missing or doing wrong? I've followed all guides to the Letter and even uninstalled all required programs and everything associated and then started everything from scratch. Someone please help.

Did you instal the drivers???? Keep in mind that the device is still 2 weeks from offical release. Have you rooted??

Yes I did, I installed them on both machines and still no luck. Haven't been able to root. I already have the files I need on the tab too so I just need to get into recovery so that I can root.

I'm having the same exact issue. It won't work on my Mac or on Windows 7. I've tried drivers on Win 7, and I used the android file transfer tool on my mac.
Still nothing.....
Seems way to obvious but have you enabled usb debugging?
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using XDA Premium App
I had to do the following:
1) Enable USB Debugging
2) Install Samsung Kies (samsung (dot) com/ca/kies)
3) Install the Samsung USB Driver. (developer (dot) samsung (dot) com/googleio)
Once I did those three things, I plugged in and it detected the device, installed the hardware using the correct drivers, and the device showed up in 'adb devices'.
anyone try the Kies for Mac beta?
Edit: This is confirmed to work http://www.samsung.com/us/support/downloads/GT-P7510UWYXAR

I have a problem with my galaxy Y Duos on the new ASUS N76VM-V2G-T1087V with windows 7-64 bit. When I want to connect it to your computer as a storage, the phone will beep three times and nothing happens. Windows shows it as an unknown device. I've tried a lot of drivers and Kies program, on my old laptop DELL Inspiron Q17R everything was fine, no problems and I did not need any drivers. The basic android phone from the manufacturer and both laptops have USB 3.0. Please, help :crying:
Sorry for my EN, i'm czech.
It has to be a drivers problem. Don't install Kies for them. Head over to the dev forum. There's a thread on stock firmwares for sgy (it's stickied). In the 2nd post, you'll find a link to download the drivers (only the drivers). I hope that the computer does check Windows Update to install new software.

I've tried it before and did not work
The problem is mysteriously solved . For work I use Oracle VirtualBox for Windows XP and suddenly the phone works perfectly fine, everything as it should. Probably Virtualbox install to any system drivers
Hello,
several days ago, I installed Windows 8 64bit on my laptop. The problem is, that Windows does not recognize that Android device was connected. If I connect Nexus 7 (or HTC Vision Z, which I have too), nothing happens. Both devices have developer mode on. Neither of them recognizes that they are connected to PC (they don't offer me the connection mode mtp/ptp or mass storage).
Windows update is done, there are no new updates.
I've tried installing PDAnet_Drivers_64bit.exe, without luck. Yes, I've tried RAW drivers from WugFresh, but I can't install drivers for device, that is not present in Windows Device Manager (or can I? How?).
Laptop is Dell Latitude E6410.
Nexus 7 is running stock Android (4.2.2).
HTC Vision Z is running CyanogenMod 7.2 (I'm mentioning it just for complete picture of mine situation, I need to get Nexus working).
Thank you for your time, attention and hopefully help.
I am running x64 Win8 at home, and I just went to Asus's site to install their N7 USB drivers, right-clicked on the .exe file and selected "Run as Administrator", and they installed fine.
I do not run adb/fastboot/Android SDK on my Win8 machine, I do all that work with my Win7 laptop.
Thank you, I will try it when I get to PC again.
Guys, I know i am repeating again the question but despite reading 15-20 posts and uncountable articles, I am still not able to get my nexus 7 working with the Windows XP SP3.
1) To start with, I downloaded the google drivers from ASUS and the MTP Porting Kit from microsoft. When i plug in the device with USB Debugging on, Windows shows 3 new devices- NEXUS 7 & Android ADB Interface.. and ofcourse Windows XP can not find the drivers for any. So i open the device manager and it shows Nexus 7 under unidentified devices. I install the drivers for ADB interface (the ones i downloaded from Asus) and the device becomes ready to use. But there is no option to browse the device from my computer or portable devices. Then i switch the debugging on, and now there is a new device- MTP under unidentified devices. Then i install the MTP Porting Kit, but the MTP device still shows a problem with the driver.
2) The second part of the problem is that all this did not work and even my WMP11 does not recognise the Nexus 7.
The device is just connected and charging!!! What am i doing wrong here???
try this...

??? It worked and it doesn't work ???
What worked?
Try to delete the precompiled inf-file 'C:\WINDOWS\inf\wpdmtp.pnf', edit the 'C:\WINDOWS\inf\wpdmtp.inf' (see link in the post in the top...), open the XP device-manager, right-click in the yellow '!' and 'update driver'...

Do you have edit the 'C:\WINDOWS\inf\wpdmtp.inf'?

I had a lot of problems myself getting Windows XP to work with my Nexus 7 as well... eventually I discovered that installing the latest version of Windows Media Player fixed the problem.
I wrote up a post on this issue on another forum (Sorry, XDA - this was before I discovered you guys), back in December of last year.
Anyway, here is my original post...
http://www.nexus7nexus10.com/forum/nexus-7-help/2600-cannot-connect-pc-2.html#post36608
(Actually, this whole thread is worth reading.)
The only nuisance factor is having to remember to re-enable USB debugging (Titanium Backup needs USB debugging enabled, and complains if itsn't) AFTER I've run some MTP Windows XP related file backups (USB debugging needs to be disabled, or MTP won't work)...
....or at least that is my experience.
Hope this is of some use.
Rgrds,
Ged.
Hello guys,
I have the same issue on windows XP with Nexus 7. I tried everything what was suggested and nothing is working.
I have Windows XP SP3 with WMP11 and MTP porting kit installed as well. the device is recognized and driver is instaled fine. But it's not visible on "my computer" in MTP mode. I tried to turn on usb debugging and still device is invisible in windows explorer, the same is when usb debugging is turoned off.
When device is in PTP mode it appears in "my computer" and i'm able to browse it and see all pictures and photos.
How can i browse my device in MTP mode and copy files there? Please reply if anybody knows what to do to fix this issue.
Thank you.

Recently got a 2012 Nexus 7 from a retailer selling this model with updated Android at very attractive price, and initially able to connect to computer so promptly rooted the device with the Nexus Root Toolkit from Wugfresh Development (in this forum), afterwards had same problems with not being able to read / transfer files.
Tried every fix I could find in other threads, and although device manager saying that connected as 'ADB Device' with debugging on, or 'Google Nexus 7 ADB Device' with MTP on and debugging off, still stuck with no access.
Looking closer at the MTP configuration ('Google Nexus 7 ADB Device') under device manager noticed that details listed manufacturer as 'ClockWorkMod' , and eventually that this originated within a Windows\Inf file titled 'oem60'.
I cut and pasted the 'oem60' file to another directory (to keep it safe just in case this upset something else) then on reconnecting the Nexus 7 as MPT with debugging off, device manager found and installed the correct driver at last. Now able to see and transfer files to / from it.
Presumably could alter the relevant lines in the 'oem60' file, which aren't hard to find, and put it back to original directory, but my other devices also working fine so not done so as yet.

The above workaround was spot on, thanks
I have a user who just received a new Samsung Galaxy Note 3. When he tries to plug it into his computer - using a USB3 or USB2 cable - it errors with, "This application has failed to start because Wlanapi.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem." The user is running Windows XP x64 sp2 on his desktop.
I've searched around the web finding kb918977, which had the download "WindowsXP-KB918977-v6-x86-ENU.exe". Unfortunately that gives me the old hardware platform error. I've also found some sketchy looking driver download sites, but I'm not much for taking that risk. Is there an XP x64 version of this file somewhere or is my user SOL with his Galaxy Note on that machine?

I'm not sure anyone else will ever have this problem given the age of the OS, but just in case... I was able to get an older version of the Samsung Kies to install. Although Kies 2.5 was not compatible with the Note 3, it did install the driver I needed. Now my user can at least transfer files from his device in Windows Explorer. I downloaded the older version from this site http://www.oldapps.com/samsung_kies.php?system=Windows_XP_x64

And by user... what your reallyyyy trying to say is...
Jokes aside thanks it might help someone else with the same error.
