Hey guys,I am stuck for some time now with the 1.72 OTA and was unable to root.
Some time today I saw jkoljo's post with instructions to downgrade the 1.72 OTA for those who didn't s-off before they applied it.I asked there and I got a kind answer that I should use the PD98IMG.zip provided in jkoljo's first post from a member whose name is unfortunately escaping me right now. However, that didn't seem to be enough.I downloaded the PD98IMG.zip and copied it to my SD card's root folder(I use a 16GB Class 10 Kingston card),I rebooted into bootloader but when it checked for the image it found nothing. So what do I do?
I don't know if anyone has the same problem.Apparently the guide was written for those who hadn't s-off'ed,as jkoljo himself told me,but nothing was written for those of us who did get s-off.Probably it was considered that we knew all well how to downgrade, but that's something I don't do everyday. So if anyone can please guide me on how to do it I'd be very very grateful!
Many thanks guys! And sorry for being a nuisance to some!
as you seem like an experienced user i won't explain certain things i.e. what a gold card is LOL
but here goes,
try using a smaller SD CARD prefebly 4gb formated to fat32. transfer the file again, or redownload that file and transfer?
device branded?create a gold card?
if all fails, download the 1.34 RUU and find the rom.zip in the %temp% folder when you are running it (without the phone connected) not the whole process ofcourse just so it loads the rom.zip file in the temp folder that is done usually after it asks you to connect the phone.
if this is done copy this onto the sd card. re run the hack for the 1.72 and carry on with instructions, then carry on by following original root instructions.
hope to have helped.
peace
Yes try a smaller SD card. An SD card. Not a big ass SDHC.
Ok...I'll try a 4Gb one and see if it works!
And El_Nino9,I am a little experienced, but the fact that I might have a 0,0001% chance of bricking my phone makes me act frickin' stupid!
Anyway, can I do all that without also downgrading my radio?Or will I just have to reupgrade my radio afterwards?(God,I hate radio flashing! )
Thanks!
Well,I tried my freshly formatted 4Gb card(the one that came with my old Desire),I reboot with the PD98IMG.zip in my card's root folder,it goes into bootloader and when it starts searching for the image it says:
Code:
SD Checking. . .
Loading. . . [PD98DIAG.zip]
And stays there like...forever!What da f*ck do I do?I hate it when phones act weird!
Double check that the file name matches exactly what the bootloader is asking for. Linux is case sensitive.

Download the PD98IMG.zip file again, or exports from RUU ROM utility.

Well, everyone is using the PD98IMG.zip jkoljo provides in his first post along with the downgrading instructions, and I used it too.I didn't modify the name in any way.
Now,although I think that when using my 16Gb card it searches for a PD98IMG.zip,as I stated above, when using my 4gb card it says it searches for a PD98DIAG.zip and then freezes(yes, the bootloader) and I have to pull the battery.
I am redownloading the file now,but I don't think that's what's wrong...
Im sending my phone back to htc so I flashed back a standard rom. I thought this would remove hspl but it didnt now Im ****ting my pants. How do i get it off?
Did you flash stock rom via sd card? That is the only way that flashing a stock rom removes hspl. Otherwise the much simpler method is to rerun HSPL2 and select your original spl (ending in 0000) - assuming you can remember which spl you were on.
how do i flash the rom via sd?

Find nbh file of the rom you want, copy to root of sd card and rename it to LEOIMG.nbh, boot into bootloader and follow instructions. If it doesn't pick up the image, try reformatting sd card (preferably a small one ie 2gb) to FAT32 and retry.
Ive renamed the the file but bootloader does nothing, i only have a 16gb sd. I also put the whole rom on the card and selected it using file explorer and now the windows colour dots are just going around in a circle.
Did you copy just the .nbh file from the rom to your sd card and rename that and not the entire exe file? You also won't be able to flash via file explorer.
Seriously though if you can't flash via sd card (bigger sd cards don't alsways work - although my 16gb card does) just do the second and much easier option I gave you above, ie flash the rom via exe as you have done and then run HSPL2 and select your stock spl.
I cant do that cos now windows 7 wont install the bloody drivers lol. Im FUBAR'd
Be careful in your rom selection. This should ALWAYS be stressed when telling people how to do this. It's not simply a case of getting the one you want. You should always try to get the original rom your phone came with, or at a minimum one that the htc site recommends when you enter your country and phone serial. Flashing a bad rom via sd is pretty much the only way to brick your phone. This should not be forgotten or taken for granted.
That said, download the correct rom, rename to leoimg.nbh, stick it on the root of your sd card. Power off phone, insert sd card, hold volume down, press power.
(yeah I know clyde just typed the instructions, I just like them explained this way).

Have you double checked you card is Fat 32? I couldn't get a leoimg.nbh file recognised, until I found a similar post saying that it had to be Fat32. My card was in plain old fat...

Good point m8, I assumed that as he had already flashed the rom via exe that he had the right one. (I know that's a dangerous assumption given the level of some of the users on this site as some shouldn't be authorised to use anything more technical than a tv remote - no offence elgrego4 ). Noted and I will include that important statement in future advice given
I've just seen from your signatrure elgrego4 that your rom is listed as LEO70 (ie WP7). Did you reformat your sd card after using WP7?

Turn the phone off..Then turn it on while holding volume down. This will take you to the bootloader menu( rainbow color). Plug the phone unto your PC then flash the original ROM that you downloaded from HTC site.No need to sync..Hope this will help.
Hey man if you want to remove HSPL you can just run the HSPL program from your pc with your phone connected in bootloader. It's the same procedure as installing HSPL, but now you must select SPL 2.08.000 instead of HSPL 2.08 while running the program.
I did it this way while I had to send my phone back and had no problems with it =)
You can check your SPL version in Bootloader.
yes it was fat 32, ive borrowed a 2gig so i will try that next
Its flashing with the 2gb card so fingers and everything else crossed
Keep us posted pls. I'm thinking also to bring back because of pixel error on the screen.

SPL-3.03.000 is on now. Thanks for the help guy Knowing my luck htc wont find a fault
Pleasure m8, good luck.
Was 3.03 your original spl? If so I guess you do know it's a mission to get back to flash hspl once you get your phone back. You will first have to downgrade your rom to get to a lower version spl and then run hspl.
So had some issues getting CM7 on, but after a bit of work got it.
But just for the heck of it i wanted to go back to stock. I downloaded serveral versions of PD15IMG.zip all same file size and MD5 values.
When giong to the hboot screen it comes up with some errors saying PD15daig.zip not found and PD15daig.*** (cant remember all the ext)
I am directly placing the PD15IMG.zip on the SD card in the root. I am not sure at all why is not loading, from what i understand i should get a loading bar in the top right of the screen and then after a moment it should promt me to flash?
Anyways, hboot info is
S-off
hboot 0.86.000
microp-0429
radio-26.03.02.26_M
eMMC-boot
[date here]
Any help would be great.
My phone is working just fine with CM7 but i WOULD like the optoin to flip back over to stock OEM with s on

What method of root did you use? If you used the gfree method, you can't just go back to stock by flashing the PD151IMG.zip file.

Make sure your SD card is formated to the fat 32 file system. Also a common mistake in windows 7 ppl will name the file PD15IMG.zip.zip

Incorrect. You definitely can go back to stock after gfree using PD15IMG.zip (I did), but you will retain S-OFF.
Also just to be sure, the file name is PD15IMG.zip, not PD151IMG.zip. The number in the middle is 15, not 151.
In addition to the .zip.zip issue, I will also point out that some microSD cards simply aren't recognized by the MT4G bootloader. My class 2 16 GB microSD never works for PD15IMG, but the class 4 8 GB that came with the Panache does work every time.
When hboot checks the sdcard for updates it will give you a choice either yes or no. Volume up is yes click for updating. How long should a Mytouch 4g take to update the radio with PD15IMG.zip? The loading bar on mine goes almost all the way up. I have the Update is in progress... Do not power off the device on my screen for more than an hour. Is this phone toast?

does it say Fail-PU?
I recently had a goofy issue like this. I was putting the PD15IMG file on the SD card using the ADB Push command.
That was my problem. (I have no idea why). But ADB was only pushing like 99.99% of the file. It was exactly 53 bytes short every single time.
I put the file on the SD card using the drag and drop method from my computer's file manager. The entire file went and it worked like a charm.
If the bootloader isn't flashing the PD15IMG file it's because it sees something wrong with it. Try another method to get the file onto the SD card and see if you get a better result.
3 Steps to Prepare a PD15IMG.zip so that HBOOT will recognize it
BACKUP MICRO SD CARD CONTENTS BEFORE YOU PROCEED!!
1. Format Micro SD card to FAT32 (Sometimes larger micro sd cards won't be recognized by hboot, so try using 4GB and below)
2. Make sure you rename it to PD15IMG.zip and not PD15IMG.zip.zip (Very common mistake with windows users because hidden known file extensions are enabled.
3. Double check md5sum or check the file properties to make sure the size of the file remains unchanged when its on your computer and when its copied over to the micro sd card.

At that time no fail-pu were showing, as of this morning I get a fail-pu for the bootloader only. Also in ADB I found that it could not read mmcblk i.e. unable to read MBR
I had the same issue, it is resolved now. What I did, backup my sdcard data to pc. Format(partition) sdcard using CWM recovery(you can use ubuntu too). Put back everything to sdcard. Now hboot is able to load PD15IMG.zip file. I am using 8GB class 4 sdcard. Hope will work for you too.
I tried to install a new rom via my SD card and it refused to boot, it simply stayed at the HTC logo. So now, I have no working OS on my phone. I tryed to go back to stock Winmo 6.5, following all instructions, but my bootloader won't load the .nbh file, it simply stays idle at the Tri color screen. I've tried switching SD cards, installing other ROMS via SD to no avail. Also tried the HSPL 4 method to get back to stock, but I have no working windows OS on the phone, so I cannot synch with WMDC. I've tried everything.
I would like to keep working with android on my phone, but if i have to start from scratch then that would be fine also. Can anyone help me? I have no other phone ATM.
Specs:
MAGDLR 1.13, CWM 3.0.0.5, SPL 2.08 HSPL, Radio 2.15.50
Can anyone please help!?????????????? I really need to get my phone up and running :[
No need for wmdc sync.
Phone into bootloader, connect USB, flash rom.
Thats what I'm saying, the bootloader should automatically detect the Ship rom when turned on to the tri color screen, but it doesnt, nothing happened. I downloaded the ROM straight from T-Moblie
I didn't say flash from SD.
What I said was you don't need a booted rom to use USB flashing,,, no need for wmdc.
Phone into bootloader, connect USB, count to 5, on the PC run the flash. Hspl.exe also can be run like this.
As to why the leoimg.nbh doesn't start, its usually one of two reasons..
1 the SD card should be 4gb or smaller, and
2 people sometimes don't extract ruu_signed.nbh, they just rename the rom.exe.

When you say "run the flash" do you mean run the RUU_signed exe file? Also, I followed the instructions to get back to stock to a T, even swapped out my 16gb card for a 2gb with the same image and tried it. Should i just give up on flashing it via SD?

just to confirm you should be unzipping the .exe file, extracting the ruu_signed.nbh file, renaming that file to leoimg.nbh and using that on the sd card?
You don't rename the whole .exe

Absolutely. Formated the SD, extracted the file from the zip, extracted the exe file, got the RUU_signed, renamed it leoimg.nbh, slide it over to the SD card and put the phone in bootloader....and nothing happened.
Hi guys,
So recently my screen stopped working and I need to get it fixed. I want to revert the phone back to its stock ROM but I can't seem to do that. I downloaded the stock rom and followed this guide: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wc89Gh0QpIY&feature=player_embedded
But, when I get into bootloader, in the white section of the screen it says Serial and it just stays unresponsive, it doesn't boot up like in the video. Any ideas on what's going on?
Did you rename the .nbh file to LEOIM.nbh? Also did you put thenfilenon the root(not in a folder) of your SD card? If you have done both of these then make a back up of you SD card and then reformat you SD card with a full format and not a quick format. Also the SD card method does not work well with larger SD cards so you may have to try a 2gig or 4gig SD card. Last you can use HSPL 4 to revert back to stock SPL just choose the SPL version from the drop down box when you run the installer, here is a hint the SPL's with four zeros at the end are stock SPL's.
Thanks for the reply
So, I tried reformating my 16 gb SD and still have the same problem. I then tried to do it with a 4 GB SD, same thing. So I tried it with HSPL but I can't sync the phone to my PC since it's in storage mode and with the touchscreen broken I can't adjust it to sync. I'm not taking the phone to a verified dealer so they probably won't care that it's flashed. The problem, from what I understand is that the digitizer is broken, so it shouldn't matter that the phone is flashed, right?
Thanks
You can connect it to the PC for flashing without Windows Mobile through the bootloader (3-colour screen). Just turn that on and connect it; Serial should change into USB and you are ready to flash.
About SD card method: Make sure the nbh file is named LEOIMG.nbh. The letters MUST be uppercase, else it might not work.
