[Q] Why a 32gb micro SD card... - Galaxy S II General

hi guys!
I'm not so new here, but i think it's my first post. And a hope not start bad...heheheh
Well, i have a question. I just bought a mustang micro sd card (class10) and i've noticed that not all apps and games can be moved. I mean, what files are moved? Gameloft games are able to move but not at all. All folders with bigger files stay on the phone. And the problem doesn't stops here, the only options I have is to move files between USB storage and device memory...and not for external sdcard. I can see the folder external_sd, but how can I use this?
So, do I have space on external sd card just for photos, music and videos?? Any help is welcome!
Thanks for attention and sorry about my english!

any sugestion...?

I guess so or until someone creates an apps2sd+ or even better a data++ ROM as there are for the HTC Desire. Look in the dev forum over there for more info and explanations about apps2sd+ and data++

thanks mate!

still having headaches!
GPS, apps, games...i can't put anything on sdcard...on my other devices i can put a lot of things on sdcard\android\data
but galaxy s2 the sdcard folder is inside the fone, not the real sd card...
too bad...

The sdcard folder is just the SG2's internal storage. You have to go to sdcard/external_sd to access the actual micro SD card.

With 1GB of /data and 11GB on /sdcard I am not sure why you would need to move data to the microSD.
a 32GB card would be good for media and such though.

Yeah, i know that...i was wondering if there is a way to use the external_sd as the real sdcard. Understand what i mean?

It's bcause games. I like games a lot...and probably I will need space soon...I'm about to accept the fact about the external sd just for media and such though...

Installations on Internal SD vs External SD

When I have installed games like Sniper vs Sniper, Homerun Battle 3d and Asphalt. They all have me to download more files but they are always installed on the internal SD instead of the External SD. Is there a way to prevent this?
anyone have any ideas?
Any reason why you would NOT want them on the near 2 gigs allocated?
I want the installations to go on the External Card and they are all installing on the internal card. Maybe the thread topic is misleading....
No, just curious why 2 gigs is not enough. Especially when faster than external. Doesn't make sense...
Its the way the SDs are mounted. Sdcard/sd is the external. The app just looks for sdcard/ which is the internal.
He's taking about the internal sd not the /data apps dir.

Yes thats what im referring to. I want everything to be on the external. On other phones like the Evo, the games "extra" files are installed on the Ext SD Card.
correct me if I'm wrong. My understanding is there are 3 storage options:
1. Phone's 2GB internal memory: this is where apps are installed
2. Phone's 12GB internal memory: internal memory you can mount to PC and move files back and forth
3. External SD card slot: can use up to 32GB of microSD card here.
OP, what exactly are you looking to do? Put the apps installed on the 2GB internal ROM on the external SD card? I don't think this is doable w/o rooting, maybe 2.2 Froyo will have it.

Games like Homerun Battle 3d. When you install it, it tells you that it has to download more information to store on your SD Card. On the HTC Evo, the downloaded information stores on the external SD Card in the /com2us folder. On the Vibrant, the extra information that is downloaded stores on the internal SD card in the same folder. I would rather have all the extra info store on the EXT SD Card.

Sorry I wasn't really clear on my on my post. Most phones don't have an internal SD card, so the standard mount for the external SD card is the sdcard/ partition, so the app automatically mounts the data there. You'll have to reprogram the app to see the SGS external SD card mounting directory of sdcard/sd

Concern about External Sd(Micro sd)

Is there any way install apk, games data to external sd?Can we use external sd just like a internal sd card?(Move apk, game data etc)
Some ROMS such as CM7 and MIUI have this feature, just make sure to check the list of functions a custom ROM has if external SD app storage is what you're looking for.
You can do it with Gameloft games
Here is the link for the software. It basically changes directory from standard sdcard/gameloft/games to sdcard/external_sd/Gl so game files are now stored onto your external SD card.

[Q] How I Can Move The Apps To The SD

Apps2SD is not natively supported on HC or ICS tablets but there are some workaround using gl2sd for gamedata and link2sd wich involve a repartioning of your internal memory - never tried that one. Both needs root. You may try the forum search, there are many thread discussing this issue. I found this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1557810&highlight=apps2sd

You can also do this. The mod will swap your internal memory with your SDcard. You can use your SDcard as your internal memory. All your files/apps will be installed on to your SDcard instead of the tablet internal memory.

Foldermount, in the app store. Can't remember if I paid for it but I can put anything I want onto the external sd card and "pin" it so it looks like its on internal... Works well with a 64gb sd card...

COuld you tell me a bit more about this app? How to "pin" it?
You open the app, transfer the folder you want transfered to the external sd card and then you pin it using foldermount. It is really quite easy and the app shows you what to do the 1st time....
I've transferred my Android folder with all the appdata and obb files onto the sd card, a lot of the internal folders too. Haven't had any problems BUT I do have a class 10 samsung 64gb sd card....

I have the folder mount app and i have alredy pinned my deezer data folder since the beggining, even so my internal memory is still beeing used. As far as i can see its using both, the source folder and the destination folder.

Yes, apparently when you browse through 'my files" you can see data file in both ext n int sd. But it should be using only ext sd if you have mounted it correctly. Try unmounting the game data, delete the profile from folder mount and remount it. Remember if you have done something wrong and tell. I can help you.

Yeah, i´ve done that several times alredy. Its still using my internal memory. Correct me if i am wrong but if i am downloading something to the source folder that i have pinned it should automatically go to the destination folder and don´t use my internal memory, correct?

When you use folder mount, you are prompted to transfer to destination folder and if u hit yes then it will be transferred. It works perfectly on mine. Maybe u should try formatting the sdcard n try again.

The app prompet me just like you sad but now they are both in the internal memory and in the sd card. I just wanted to use the sd card and not the internal memory.

Then first of all, unmount the game data in folder mount and delete that profile. it will prompt you to tranfer file to source. Hit no ( let it be on extsd). And then see whether the game file is still in the internal sd ? Or else try to mount a new game data present or put some game data on sd and try to mount it and note the amount of free space. after mounting, check the amount of free space. It should be different.
[MOD][10DEC] ExtSd2InternalSd v5|Increase your data storage|100% Working
Forget foldermount, this mod works like a charm on S4!

Moving aplications to SD Card i9505 (Samsung update way)

Hello,
I've been looking for an answer on the forums but the responses on this question seem downright stupid or at least completely off the mark. What i want to know is why when i try to move an application to the EXTERNAL SD CARD (Kingmax Class 10 32gb microsd) it says that it moves the application on the sdcard but when i try to view the folders and everything on the external sd CARD it's as if nothing is changed no folders are added and the size does not change. On the phone it says that the application is on the SD Card, is this a BUG or what exactly is going on?
