Just Curious, has anyone been working on this?
Would love to be able to connect to networking/telephony equipment via serial com port.

Hi all
Unlocked my XDA yesterday using a bog standard USB to serial converter lead from the USB hub attached to my Sony Vaio laptop (that has no serial interface) and a standard serial cable for the XDA.
No problems - Manipulator 1.1 communicated fine even though it isnt 'true' RS232.
Just thought people with USB only computers might like to know that unlocking / serial communication IS possible!
Rog
Before we get any confusion: this means you can unlock from a computer that has no serial port. It does not mean you can unlock XDAs without a serial cable.
Computer's USB port <->
USB to serial adapter <->
serial XDA cable <->
XDA
Yes thats correct. it does NOT mean you can unlock using the XDA's USB port!

Hello,
Does anybody know how I might establish a serial connection with a Wizard in bootloader mode?
I only have a USB cable...so I got the additional supplies:
1) A USB to PS/2 converter
2) A PS/2 to serial converter
And plugged that into the serial port, didn't work.
I tried these supplies also:
1) A usb-to-usb female connector
2) A serial-to-usb connector
3) A serial-to-serial connector (both sides female)
And plugged that chain into the serial port also, alas didn't work again.
The bootloader is saying USB at the bottom, maybe its not even listening to serial commands. How on Earth can I get this thing to start in serial mode to receive serial commands?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
PS: This is to be able to use XDA Manipulator on the Pocket PC over the serial interface - the program mandates a serial interface.
Looking at http://www.pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=462 it says "Serial: RS-232 , 115200bit/s" But where would this plug in? Is there a special cable for the USB / Audio port that allows RS232 instead of USB?
Also on eBay you can get a car kit with built in GPS http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HTC-TyTN-Powe...emZ150099357396QQcategoryZ75447QQcmdZViewItem if this is through a physical (not bluetooth) connection there must be a serial port.
Anyone tried this?
Thanks
Jamie
Hi Folks,
Just wondering... I'm trying to get a little application to work on Hermes PDA and I need to connect a Serial device which has a DB9 RS232 connector...
I know there's a Serial port 'inside' the USB connection on the Hermes, I was wondering if anyone knows of a pinout etc. to enable me to build an adapter to plug in the bottom of the PDA which will then allow me to connect my DB9 RS232 device?
Any help gratefully received!...
Regards,
Rob.
no serial ?????
Hi FactionOne,
there's no serial port on on USB connector .
It's only USB-device port, mixed with audio signals on this port.
Bootloader got also support for USB device port.
So it's possible for the host to emulate serial support. That's all!
At least so far as i know

I need to know if it is possible to use the micro usb connector on the P3600 as a serial port.
Suppose I have a device that can feed a serial stream and I want to use TomTom to show a moving map of the gps data I submit to the P3600, would that be possible?
If not, are there any other Mobile devices that have a serial port through their (micro) usb connector?
Thanks in advance!
