Hi,
I saw a demo of the keyboard app on the Sony Ericsson X10 phone and it seems to be pretty nice!
Anyone know if it's possible to extract the app so it can be used in other android devices?
Edit: Added screens
not many of us even have the device yet... so i'm not entirely sure how hard anything will be without root.
secondly i'm not sure this has much to do with android development.. might be better off in the themes and aps section .. being that you are asking about an app?

Anyone can extract the input.apk for install with x10?
I am buying a x10 in a non-chinese market and i am afraid that it doesn't come with chinese input..
I bought my phone in Belgium and it has a Japanese keyboard.
the keyboard of the x10 is not good. I'm now using the HTCkeyboard which I have download here on th Xda forum.

I agree, the first thing I did was install the HTC keyboard, I miss the left and right arrows however.

Evening... Has anyone downloaded the "Sony Ericsson Tutorial" app yet? It's got a nice demo of one finger zooming and the 3D scrolling features that we're soon to see rolled out.. Both very nice indeed... The one finger zooming is particularly easy to use and very natural feeling.. better than my experience of pinch zoom. Go check it out.
omg that's amazing
is this coming with the update?
im new to android so i will never be able to program this on my own lol.
wow thnx nice stuf indeed. hope it comes out soon
This isn't 'coming out' at all. Its an advanced development tutorial to recreate some of the features on the X10 mini onto the X10.
If you check the first example you will find the instruction on creating it in Java...
Someone may release an app with this stuff though

So just out of curiosity, this could be built-in to a version of maps right?

damn....
this phone has so much potential !
oo i see.. :S then why isn't sony just integrating this in the x10 ?
and i dunno but if you make that than you will not be able to use it in mediascape right?? so no point in it
You have to assume, surely, that they will use some if this stuff in mediascape and timescape? they're not paying their devs just for fun!

Its on the X10 mini (from what I can see)
You would hope that they would release an update to incorporate this stuff on the X10, especially as it is more powerful than the mini.
Unfortunately I'm not very good at creating apps, but maybe somebody on here can create a gallery app with one finger zoom and the 3d list for the phone book?
Here's to hoping
Mod edit: not t&a related, moved to general

I want to say thank you, too.
The X10 is awesome with JIT and the Eminence ROM.

Thanks to the devs for making that possible.

I would love to say the same. but without 2.2, I cannot do the following:
1. IPSEC VPN - cannot connect to Cisco ASA
2. Proxy - there are no proxy setting until 2.2 and up

Hats off for all Dev.......& thanks for making our life easier....
thanks to all the Devs.
btw has anybody experienced a more responsive X10 after flashing with the dual touch files? My xperia has zero lag now and touch screen is extremely responsive.(with 2 screen protectors on too)
How many of you clicked the "Donate" button besides thanking? I think thats a better way to show our appreciation.
THNKZ
Thnkz Dev for making this device as it should have been ... SE should just hire them and SE should thnks these Devs bc they almost lost me as a customer bc i almost sold my phone ...
My first post hi all, i been following xda forums for a while now and i would also like to thank all the devs for their work. They have acheived more for the X10 than se ever will.
I would also like to thank all forum members for the advice to other users and for beta testing these roms, without beta testing development would be alot slower.
Z's freex10 2.2 beta 4 runs flawless on my x10 for 2 days. No FC, runs super fast, every app i used pre 2.2 still works fine, battery seems fine (after battery wipe stats).....i mean for 8 hours i was asleep i lost 3% battery (will test today with heavy use.
Anyway enough of my rambling....
Big up to all XDA devs and forum members...
Hi I am in Canada and i just preordered the xperia play. Just wanted to know what is like the first things i should do when i get it? (im moving from an iphone to this). What are great android apps that i should download and such.
regards,
First android device huh? Well... Custom home screen would be number one, specially coming from iPhone, get something like launcher pro as it's my favorite, very customizable, but it might be a little much at first if you are in culture shock.
Emulators is a big plus and benefit to me if that's your thing. Almost everything on iPhone has it's android alternative except for a couple popular games. Is there a list of your favorite iPhone apps and maybe we can identify the android counterpat
thanks for the quick reply. games arent really my worry as im fine with going around trying new ones. things i wanted to know is if i can disable timescape and other useless addons. does the keyboard work fine or can i install some app to get the swype keyboard or something better? and that app you mentioned sounds cool, will definately try it.
regards

Swype is my favorite keyboard replacement, the stock android one is good, but I heard the one that comes with this might suck a bit maybe? Better keyboard is a skin able keyboard replacement and you can skin it to look/feel like the iPhones.
As far as disabling stuff, you can to a point, but without root access (like jail breaking) you can't touch some of the lower level services. Home replacement is what I think you will want though, get launcher pro or adw launcher. Adw being very themeable. Launcher pro having more polish/settings.
sounds cool. so ill definetly look at swype. how exactly does launder pro work? does it replace everything? (ie timescape)?

It will replace your entire homescreen and everything that's one it - it won't however replace other parts of your system like the Timescape gallery, keyboard or music player. However, all those things are replaceable as well with many alternatives in the market and over here.
Emulators, Emulators, Emulators i say!

Teamviewer works like LogMeIn but for Win/Mac/Linux and for free. Xda app is a app that allows you to view this forum.
Also check out all these games with surprort for Xperia Play. make sure to download the specific versions in some cases.
XDA link to games

Hey guys, i'm going to be purchasing an xperia play (my first android/smart phone whoo!) soon and I've done my fair share of research over this phone and i've gone to the verion store to check it out, and i like it a lot, but there's just one thing that bothers me. What happened to the app drawer? I know it's stock gingerbread therefore it should have the same app drawer that the Nexus S has, but it doesn't seem the same, the reason I say this is because when you scroll up and down through the apps, it doesn't give you that "cube" like effect, what happened?

does that really matter? there is a million launchers on the market that can emulate that cube effect in the app draw, and imo have much better effects too, just download one

Download the Gingerbread launcher, push it to /system/app and delete the default launcher. Problem solved This isnt ios You know
I don't have the Verizon edition so could be COMPLETELY wrong but perhaps it's enable-able in a settings?
Even if not the other comments are right - think of it this way. It's not that it doesn't have the cube effect, it's that you need to install it via the market - Launcher Pro or Gingerbread Launcher should both have it (ADW too maybe?)
If you get that phone you can definitely get the effect your looking for

Sounds more like it would be a property in the Launcher2.apk file. You can extract it and search if you want.
