OTA firmware update (UK)

I've been getting a notification about a security update on my magic. It claims to have already downloaded it (4.6mb), and is asking to install and reboot.
Does anyone know any details about the update? Version numbers, etc? What it changes?
Forgot to mention my current versions:
baseband - 62.50s.20.17u_2.22.19.26I
Kernel - 2.6.27-00392-g8312baf [email protected] #72
Build - crb17
I never received such notification. When I go to System Update, it says that my phone is already up to date. It got exactly the same version as yours.
Me neither - all versions the same. :-o
all Magics with CRB17 software will soon receive an over the air
(OTA) software update approximately 4.5 MB in size
This is a security patch, and nothing to worry about it, everyone with the affected software should get it in the next week.
I'm more worried about it blocking any future hacked firmwares being installed - eg the new rooted firmware 6.0
Upgrade in Vodafone ES network
I have just updated the firmware of my magic. It had CRB17. After the upgrade the new software versions are:
CRB43
62.50S.20.17U_2.22.19.26I
2.6.27-00393-g6607056
bye
i have received today the same notification in my htc (vodafone spain). But, what about the root??
@IsAhT sorry but I did not have it rooted before the update, so I cannot tell you the effects of this upgrade over a rooted terminal.
got the same thing right now...i just updated it..
i guess .......... if it is just a update to the firmware system should not effect the rooting.
How does the update process work? I'm on a rooted Vodafone UK Magic, but using the Orange mobile network. I've installed Haykuro's SPL, and About phone -> System updates says it's up to date, but the build is CRB17.
Maybe I should give his 6.0r1 ROM a try...
well i am on voda uk and i am not getting any updating because im using the 6.0 sapphire rom were the system update is disable obviously.
that you are on orange and still running CRB17 should be able to get the update. i think they roll the update gradually like TMOBILE done with the G1 to upgrade to cupcake 1.5,they started with 10% then 20% and so on of the G1 population till they hit 100%.
so after the rooting process installing haykuro's SPL, whats the 'best' rom to choose and where can i get it?.
im on CRB17 as well after trying to get root, which i dont think worked. Is there pre-rooted rom floating about?
im on vodafone UK magic as well

[Q] My Bell Atrix wants to update. Not sure if I want it to...

Is it safe for me to do this? I'm running 2.2.1 rooted on Telus, and I'm completely happy with my phone and how it runs. What will happen if I update?
Can I stop the update message from coming up?
"Update(0.37.23.en.CA) has been downloaded and is ready to install"
The only choices I get are Install Now or Install Later.
It will blow up.
you will get HSUPA (more details about the update can be found via search or on the moto site)
minor update that came out months ago. I say go for it.

[Q] Help!

I unrooted my tablet and brought it back to completely stock to attempt to get the 3.1 OTA update, and it has been 2 days now with nothing. I was going to try to update via the OTA Full update package thread but I can't figure out which build to use, because mine isn't listed. It's Acer_A500_1.104.38_COM_GEN1. I just want to get the official 3.1 update, that way when the official 3.2 update rolls out I can get it no problem, then maybe I'll root again. Anyone have any ideas?

2.2 Telus leaked version - upgrade and get root back

Running the kernel that was leaked shortly after the phone was released. I cannot upgrade through Kies as it says the version is not recognized. Wondering how I can get upgraded to Gingerbread and get my root back.
TIA

I had to do the same thing.
Follow the steps in the URL provided below to Flash your phone back to Stock 2.2, then proceed with the upgrade through the Kies software. (Still took me a couple of tries to update but it eventually worked.)

[Q] Is Acer still distributing the OTA ICS update for the A501?

Hi,
I have a German A501 that got the ICS update in August 2012. Since then I had rooted it, but wanted to return to stock unrooted ICS in order to be able to run the Excitor DME app.
The unroot process failed, and I went through a series of unsuccessful SD card updates.
I ended up using the EUUs to get the tablet back to Honeycomb 3.01, and then updated via SD-card to 3.2.1 but I seem to be stuck there.
I have installed the Acer Update app, but there is no update available for my Tab. Is Acer still distributing the upgrade OTA?
What other route could I take back to a stock, unrooted ICS?

Alternatively, could one of the German users point me to a ROM that has allowed them recently to upgrade to stock unrooted ICS OTA?
Thanks
