Hello Everybody,
As a profane developer , I am trying the following on my htc T5353.
I have a central pbx at the office and I would like a software that when running, makes all calls going through the central in this way: I call a number, then I receive a tone, then I send the real number I want to call.
I don’t know how to “intercept” an outgoing call so to make it going through my routine.
Alternatively, I could split in two the green button (“TALK”) in the default call program and use one for standard calls and the other for calls going through my routine.
However, I don’t know how to modify the standard call-program.

If you need to retain your current phone numbers then you may need to configure free accounts with tricky configurations at:

It is intricate, but to get really fancy, you may include:

You really want to change your main usage to google voice, though..

This is my first posting here and this forum looks promising. I just bought Samsung i5800 from Amazon and the phone looks beautiful and has lot of nice features. I'm on T-Mobile network with no data plan. I have couple of questions on the general phone usage, installing VOIP softphone software and other issues. I apologize if my questions were already asked and answered. I searched the forum but couldn't find specific answers to my questions.
1. Firstly, the phone is running little bit sluggish. Opening and closing apps seems to be tad slow. I checked up the Manage Services and killed some of them but the others I felt were important and left it out. There wasn't a lot of services running though. How to fix this issue?
2. The phone is running on Android 2.1. Do you guys know if there is a official Android 2.2 Froyo update from Samsung for this phone? If not, where do I get 2.2 ROM. Will installing 2.2 make the phone run faster?
3. On the VOIP softphone front, I set up a new sipgate account and also a Google Voice account. I installed the free csipsimple opensource software from Android market and configured it. I don't have a independent dialer to go thru csipsimple. When I use the regular phone dialer from the phone to call somebody, csipsimple is popping up and asking me if I want to go thru it or use the Mobile itself and I choose csipsimple and it works extremely well. I hope it is using my Wifi network. I checked my T-Mobile account and there was no activity in the call log for the calls I made thru csipsimple. Now, here is the problem. When I call somebody, the other party receives the call as "Unknown". How to fix this issue? Should they be seeing my google voice number? The other big issue is I'm not getting any incoming calls thru VOIP. As I had mentioned earlier, I don't have GV dialer. Do I have to buy GV Dialer ($1.99) to make the incoming calls work? All I need is to have free incoming and outgoing calls when I'm on Wifi network. Can somebody please help me on this?

In reading the forums here for a while now, it seems like hardly anyone uses Google Voice for anything. This surprises me, since I've always used GV and I can't imagine not using it. I mean, it lets you read/write/manage your SMS messages on your computer (ie I don't have to pull out my phone to text people if I'm at my computer), lets you make/receive calls straight to your computer (ie I don't have to pull my phone out necessarily if I want to make/receive a call and I'm at my computer), calls made/received on your computer don't count against your minutes, and if you happen to still have a MyFaves plan (and I know several of you do) you can set GV as one of your Faves and have all calls made/received with your handset free as well. The only problem I've ever had with it is that it sends/receives SMS messages over your data network, so if you're somewhere where the data connection is clogged (like I was when I was at a music festival recently), you can't send/receive texts. Even so, with all these advantages (some of them pretty huge IMO), why does it seem like no one uses it?
So, do you? If not, why not?
I use it and have regularly text/mms blocked.
Use it for texting and voice mail.
Not perfect, many things I would like improved, but definitely worth it for me.

I'm curious, what would you like to see improved? Personally, I'd like to be able to send mass texts from my phone, and to be able to send/receive MMS. I know you can send "mass" (to like five recipients, which, I mean, I've never needed to send a text to more than five people, so that's worked fine for me) texts through GV on a computer, but I can't get it to work on my phone.
I use it for international calls, international TXTing (no longer avail.), and craigslist or similar type of communication with people I don't want to share my real phone no. with.
I also use it in conjunction with Gizmo5 when I'm overseas. Sometimes I use this method when my minutes approach the limit.
MMS please! It's about time. This is the only reason why I still have to use my actual phone number.

Or you could use email. Or you could upload the picture to dropbox and SMS a dropbox link. Or you could share on any of the other numerous photoshare sites. There's a million ways around the MMS issue if you need to send some crucial media message, but I agree that it would be nice to have the functionality regardless.
We need pitcher messages, at least pitcher hosting so other people can just click the link. I use Google Voice but it's not perfect, it's not that fast.. it needs to be faster.
I just use it for the vm to text. That's pretty handy. I don’t have to talk to or even listen to people anymore!

First I love GV. I have it routed to my home via sip, my cell with the GV app and when I'm traveling with the client built into gmail.
Improvement:
1. MMS would be great. Yes, I could use the cell or gmail but... it would be nice if it were incorporated into GV.
2. The GV organization for messaging (both the app and website) is well, basic. I don't get why all texts from one person can not stay in one convo. Makes it harder to find old text messages.
3. I would like to see more way to initiate conference calls
4. international calls could be cheaper. Yes they are cheaper than skype but that is not cheap... On my phone I use the voxofon app and at home voip with callwithus.
5. petty maybe, but I wish I could adjust the time before VM kicks in.

I would also *love* to have all my texts from a single person organized into per-person threads, and wonder why there's not a simple way to do this.

Need MMS and also we REALLY need an alternative GV app.
Maybe one day Go SMS, Chomp or Handcent will support GV. That would be nice.
I love it and use it for my voicemail.
I have a Seattle number that most of my friends know, but upon moving to Arizona, being able to have an AZ local number was a big plus. Now I can have 2 numbers on one cell and not have to update any of my long-term contacts of a number change or any of that nonsense.
I use it, but I don't really love it.
I do not like their voicemail service AT ALL, however I like the convenience of giving people my google voice number, people whom I don't necessarily like
I use it for all my vmails, and for texting. I may even lower my texting package from tmo soon to save a few bucks. I can block people easily, can set custom greetings for different groups of people, and I can even use my bluetooth to make phone calls via my PC bypassing the need for a big voice package.
I use it for voicemail primarily and its the number I give out to businesses and people I don't really care to talk to so I can screen the calls. I also use it more when I don't have my phone on me or im on the computer

I used to use it but I found it redundant and some people didn't appreciate having to keep up with so many phone numbers (GV, Business, Real Vibrant number). It doesn't support MMS so that made it hard to use exclusively.
Plus, I could do without those services running in the background.
It's nice for when you're selling stuff on CraigsList and don't want to give your real number, though.
I do hate Google for making it impossible for us to take our numbers off without giving another real number, or removing Google Voice from our Google Account.
But a quick phone number change took care of that.
I use it for texting some people that i dont want to have my real tmo number.I still have the unlimited texts....i've been thinking of dropping unlimited texting from my plan. I wish I had myfaves so I could have unlimited free calling with it...gotta find a way to get myfaves...hope tmo brings it back.
Its also great for using online,for example, Craigslist etc. Overall I think its great and I can't wait for more innovative features to be added.

I have a rooted Droid X and have really enjoyed finding ways to tinker with my phone to get additional benefits from my device. Previously, I have been getting completly free VOIP calls by running the hacked version of Skype that allows for functionality over both 3G and Wifi. I paid $30 (so not completely free) to Skype for an annual unlimited calling plan to all of North America. The quality is pretty good over 3G and even better over wifi. However, when I call people, my number shows up as unknown. I could pay Skype for an actual #
($60) to remedy this so that people could call me back, but I've held off for now. If someone wants to talk, it is easy for them to text me and I can call them back since I don't always leave my phone on 24/7.
Recently, I decided to play around with SIP technology as a way to have an alternative to Skype and to have a reason to tinker. I already had a Google Voice # and set up a free account at sipgate.com Then I set up my Google Voice # to forward all calls only to my sipgate #.
I also downloaded Google Voice Free Forwarding app from the marketplace and configured that so that whenever I make an outbound call via the standard dialer or through my CSIPSIMPLE widget, the call will pause, google voice free callback will intercept the call and allow me to talk to my desired # completely free with no minutes used. The drawback is that it can take 15-20 seconds for the call to go through and the call quality doesn't seem to be as good as when using Skype---both on 3g and wifi. But, to be fair, it is completely 100% free calling and cheaper than Skype.
Recently, I had the opportunity to acquire a Gizmo5 account and a Sip Sorcery account and am curious to know how I can use these to enhance my sip experience on my android phone.
I know there is a plethora of info on both of these services, so I don't expect anyone to hold my hand or reinvent the wheel. However, I just want to know what some of the possibilities may be.
Since I already have Skype and already have a sip service setup through Google voice, sipgate, and Google Voice Callback, will Gizmo or Sip Sorcery allow me to have a better experience in terms of quality, ease of use, or quickness when it comes to connecting the call.
It looks like Gizmo my have some integration through Google Voice that other #s don't offer but does it really offer any major advantages?
Personally I only use SIP when connecting to my asterisk server on my VPS to make my calls untraceable and to spoof my callerid for free. Also, I don't really like the SIP services out there.... and I especially don't like Skype's VoIP service. If you are looking for a good SIP app however.... get SIPdroid. (I believe that's what I use)

I was wanting to know if anyone knew of a good call blocker that works well. I have been getting a ton of spam calls from random numbers, they are never the same., so blocking each one seems to be a endless task I would like to be able to block all calls and text msgs from anyone who is not in my contact list. I have a Sprint S8, and Note 8. Any info would be greatly appreciated!
Get a copy of truecaller.
While I used it, it blocked 95% of spam calls.

I personally use YOUMAIL as default voicemail and call blocker. You can set different funny prerecorded greetings, for spammers and marketing I choose one that says, like the following number is disconnected or your calling an Indian CSR.

I'm researching call blockers. I'm currently inundated with spoofing type spam since most of the calls appear to come from my local area. Therefore I plan to setup the call blocker to block any callers not in my Contact list. After the call, I will check my voicemail to determine whether the call was legitimate. If legitimate I will tag them as safe so that future calls will be accepted.
While TrueCaller seems a nice call blocker, the free version has so many ads that they become a major distraction. The free version of Hiya is a joke and can't even meet my limited requirements. I like Should I Answer, but I'm interested in feedback from others before making a decision.
