[Q] Default Android Messaging. apk?

I can't stand the messenger on the D2. I want to have every message send when I hit enter, instead I have to press the send button on the screen.
1. Does someone have the default messenger apk from froyo (or whatever)?
2. If I install it, will it work like Chomp and let me choose it as a default app?

I did it on my Droid Incredible. Found an old mms version and installed it then updated it and it works great, However I did totally delete the sense mms app. I would love to do it on my wifes D2 but can't find the original .apk...
Update: I googled "mms.apk" and found a couple downloads, worth a shot anyway. If they don't work right check for an update before you delete it.
I'll try it on my wife's D2 later today

keep me updated and a link to the one you ended up using.

if your only issue is wanting to press enter to send a message, i found today that if you just hit the right arrow after you're done typing, the cursor jumps right to the send button. then all you do is press enter. one extra key press. not too bad a work around.

i was able to pull the mms.apk from my original droid and install it on my d2.
contact pictures were not showing up and i'm not sure how the phone would react if i reached the 1000 message limit with the stock app. but it works.. kinda

i wouldn't say it's my only issue, but it's a decent one. i'll try this, although i'm not happy about it.

I have a stock Mms.apk if someone wants I can email it to you so you can post it up for everyone.

I tried and *loved* the Tranquility ROM, but at the same time I love having the Blur and Social Networking apps on my D2. Is there any way that I could just get the original FRG22D stock mms.apk to work on my D2? I've already bricked my original Droid2, and I don't want to brick this one!

DL the file, extract the stock messaging app, install it on ur phone... ?

Install HTC IME keyboard... on my phone or id link it... i think its under nexus 1 themes in here... u can customize ur keyboard and theres n option "enter key sends message in stock messaging app" or something to that extent

I was able to extract the mms.apk file from the Tranquility ROM. I renamed conversations.apk to conversations.apk.bak, then clicked on and installed the mms.apk. I have no problem sending or receiving sms and mms. I'm loving it!

If you go to droidforums.net and search for user AngDroid and then find the post for the android MMS app, I placed instructions there what needs to be removed and the mms file to download...

HTCLockscreen.odex

Hi guys, Can someone post the original HTCLockscreen.odex and HTCLockscreen.apk. I was playing with the phone root and HTCLockscreen.odex is no longer there. I rename it to HTCLockscreen.odex.bak, but after the restart is no longer there.

I found that after I took the apk and odex out, I was unable to reinstall them- I'm assuming your phone now has the stock lock but it's transparent. The best solution I could come up with was the Widget Locker app- I'm actually very happy with it- it's alot nicer than the stock unlock and the HTC unlock. The only thing I've noticed but haven't looked into much yet is that the genius button long press will unlock the phone, which is a bummer for when it's in my pocket (even though I have all the button unlocks disabled) Hope that helps! I think your only other solution would be to restore a previous backup that had the lockscreen intact.

Widget Locker is very nice but I wish they would let u have the MT4G lock screen : p

Why would you ever want that horrid lock screen? Blocks half of the wallpaper.

Use rooted explorer for this. New app, kinda laggy but you can email, copy/paste the APKs and odex. NOT root explorer, its rooted explorer.

[Q] RoyalMIUI ROM - Genius Button

i have miui rom from teamroyal and love it its very light and fast. i was wondering though is there a way to mod the genius button so a press would open google search app and a long press would open voice search from google? thanks in advanced

Just tried it and didnt work, the genius app is just force closing. Tried re downloading the zip and flashing again but had the same problem. Im guess its not compatible with miui rom

Might want to address it on drews genius thread. He can probably figure something out.

Came across this thread but when i went to edit the keypad key 183 already said SEARCH. It was probably set to that for the sidkick app, which was the original search app on miui (i have it uninstalled). Does anyone know a way around this for the miui rom?

[REQUEST][Q] Customising Messages.APK

Fair warning: I'm a newb.
So basically all I'm trying to do is edit the Messages app that comes with Virtuous Unity. Have tried to do what I want but either APK Editor v0.4e genuinely won't let me do anything or I'm doing something wrong because when I try to open the APK file itself (attached) nothing happens!
I'm trying to do the following things to said app:
1. Allow messages to be sent by pressing Enter on the hard keyboard instead of inserting a new line (am using a Desire Z)
2. Change some aesthetics
a) White text on a black background at thread selection
b) Black background in a thread
c) Black background for message input (all) and contact (new message) areas
d) White text for sending, yellow for receiving
e) Remove bubbles so text takes up an entire line
f) Increase font size in a thread to 24
I know its alot to ask for (at least I think so) but can someone please do this for me or at the very least tell me where I've gone wrong?
Edit: I've added the Stock 2.2 Messages APK and also the Messages APK included in Virtuous - they're almost identical so be careful. Both use HTC Sense BTW, not sure if that's going to be a problem.

I think you can't do the first modification with apktool, because you have to change the code of the program, but if you have the source (or is this the AOSP mms app?) I can modify it to you, but as I'm not at home you have to wait until next Saturday.

I honestly don't know but surely said code can be ripped from one of the G1(HTC Dream)s custom Sense ROMs?

Am guessing I either have to ask them directly or decompile the zip file the ROM is in and comb through it looking for what I need. :/

Since installing this ROM (which I am loving btw), my physical keyboard's button for c o m/w w w is functioning like an Enter button when you press it. Any way to change or customize this?

Same its part of the keymapping, it didn't bother me much. The dev for mimcry is really active just post and let him know if he doesnt already.

That's really interesting and something I didn't notice. Mine isn't acting as an Enter but instead as a Space (1.5.0)

switched to 1.5.0 but don't have any kb issues

Did you guys install the Enhanced Keymaps (read the OP) in Aroma? If so, that key gets mapped to TAB, rather than www/com. Enhanced Keymaps also maps a bunch of other things to unused keys on the keyboard so read up on it.

If you don't want Enhanced Keymaps, re-flash the rom and select the menu item to modify tweaks/mods and de-select it.

This fixed my issue thanks! Didn't realize what the Enhanced Keymap feature did in that respect. Thanks again for the awesome rom, can't wait for JB
