EDIT; Well I was trying to post a single tweet, but I guess you can't. Anyways according to HTC's twitter EVO (among a few others) are supported on Hulu Plus. Anybody tried it yet?
Do people even care about hulu plus? I know it is more centered around tv shows and netflix is more about movies, but why would you pay for something that still has commercials?
IDK. I've just seen a few threads where people were asking about it, so I thought I'd throw it out there....
I can not download from market.. Says my Evo is not compatible. PC3600 is how my device shows up in Market.
Has anyone tried this? I have a temporary trial of HuluPlus but would like to give it a try.
Thanks,
Rick
Well, it installed fine for me....

It has 3-5 commercials per episode, it costs $8 bucks a month and I can watch on my phone, on the computer and my HDTV. I was paying $100/mo for cable and I couldn't take it with me anywhere and it had even more commercials. HULU+ is win IMO. Netflix streaming kinda sucks, lame selection and not enough HD.
Just came in here to say Hulu sucks ass. Netflix is better.

3-5 commercials per episode is 3 - 5 too many
netflix rocks, period zero commercials, zero ads and they are still rockin
ive never liked hulu, and even less now that i know the plus service still has commercials ( meaning i probably will have to watch the SAME dam commercial 5 times per episode? gimme a break)

Exactly. I dont want to pay for loads of ads. They only have shows. I wanted to watch "how i met your mother " on hulu but to no avail. I cancelled my service right after that.

I confirm that it works.
Mediahub blows. I tried it once and bought a Tosh.O episode and midway through the encoding on the video was jacked up. Picture went unviewable and the player stopped. I was forced to hunt and peck on the timeline to resume after the botched section of the video.
Never touched it again after that. Besides, content is overpriced.

This simply confirms my theory that you can give every body gold bars and some people will still complain that they didn't get silver or platinum.
I have my code and it's a nice way to get folks to try out the features. Perfect for a plane ride, or better yet, a delay.
Thank you OP. I was a little pissed that I couldn't get my $50 when I heard about this promotion. I don't care if the content is crappy, it should pass by slow nights on IT call.
Good luck with mediahub, folks.
With bittorrent, any price above $0 for broadcast entertainment is overpriced, to me. I get all -- 100% -- of my TV via bittorrent downloads, and virtually always available before anything shows on commercial pay-for-media methods.
Now, with bittorrent clients available for android itself, you can eliminate the step of having to first download to your PC, then transfer to your phone. Just as convenient as MediaHub.
In fact, even more so. Set up an RSS feed from EZTV, PBay, or other torrent aggregators, and you're phone will grab your favorite show as soon as the torrent is available -- again, usually within a few hours of airing.
Finally, with tasker you can set things up to only download when there is a wifi connection, saving you from on-air data charges.
That's how I've got all this set up -- I see no reason to use MediaHub at all.

Ads = profit for companies and payment for actors = incentive for them to make more stuff.
I'll pay for media, though I am not against downloading somethings. But non the less cheap bastards DO ruin industries. "Oh its just me and my $10 bucks, they won't miss it" Eventually with enough people it adds up and they will miss it. Not to mention I personally know people who have had homes raided by FBI over stuff like that.

Agree content is absurdly overpriced, still I sold two of my free $50 codes for $20 a piece, $40 in my pocket for 5 minutes work.

Ill have you know sir, that downloading TV shows online, through whatever medium, is not considered illegal filesharing. A judge ruled that sharing TV shows over the internet is the same as giving someone a VHS tape back in the day. It is not illegal and can be distributed anyway the people who record it please. Be it hard mediums or digital. Now, if one were to say download a DVD copy, THAT would be copyright infringement, but we are talking about downloading 0 day shows from EZTV - which is perfectly well within your right to do.

Can you provide us with the source for the ruling? I have followed this issue for a long time but never heard of such ruling.
How about uploading TV shows, which is what torrent does? Isn't it illegal to upload files, if you don't have copyrights?

Unfortunately netflix app won't work due to hardware limitations of the snapdragon. But newer snap dragon processors will work. This app makes it possible for us unless Qualcomm is lieing about the hardware limitation.

I am fascinated and captivated by the vibrant screen on my epic galaxy s.
Just flashed bionix-v today on my vibrant. I was using bionix fusion 1.2 before and that was great, but so far this rom is amazing and has FROYO!!!
I recently cancelled my cable tv and have replaced it with Netflix and PlayOn. What's even better is that PlayOn streams Netflix, Hulu, my Amazon VOD, and all the other great channels and plugins right to my phone now from anywhere!
I didn't buy PlayOn right away because of the price, but signed up for their newsletter and jumped on a deal for 1 free month and $20 for the first year and then just $20 every year after that.
Can you tell i'm just a little excited?
Unimpressed. All this does is stream from those websites to your PC which then streams to your phone. Yawn. I can already do this with RDP/PC and access all websites that can stream to my PC.
Would be great if it streamed direct to phone via WIFI/3G.

Thanks for the heads up. I wasn't up to date on the data cap. Can't wait until cell phone companies and ISPs merge to meet the demands that will inevitably be plaguing them so that they can better fulfill the needs of their media hungry customers.
actually tried to download it for offline viewing. would not complete - error fetching license or something. Completed a form asking for a refund - and this is the response.
"Sorry you encountered this error on your first attempt to view an Android
Market movie. This error occurs if you attempt to play a movie on a rooted
device. Rooted devices are currently unsupported due to security reasons.
I've gone ahead and refunded you for your purchase. Thanks."
I'll answer you, but there are literally 3 threads on this.
If you are rooted, it ruins the DRM encryption and won't play the movie. There is not a work around ATM.

conservatively:
Current avg for gas: $3.98/gal
Your car's MPG: 24mpg
Distance to Redbox: 3mi (6mi roundtrip)
Gas burnt: .25 gal
Gas cost: $0.96
Consider wear and tear on the vehicle as well (tires, oil, engine, etc), I'm pretty sure it'd rise well above the $1 you are spending to have it.
Not to mention the convenience of having it instantly. I understand the quality may be lower, you may rather watch it on the big screen instead of the Xoom, etc. But as far as price goes... you aren't paying $1 more overall.
That being said - I'm with you. I'd kill to have the Netflix app working on my Xoom.

yep. Google confirmed it's not available on the wifi Xoom. We will getting it in a few weeks. It will also be available for other devices. Wonder if Google had some kind of agreement with Verizon? Don't see why it wouldn't work on the wifi Xoom.
I was just thinking about the whole movie rental thing not being available to root users because they are lumping us all in with thieves. How's this for a solution?
Instead of making it where we can't rent movies, can't they just make it where we aren't able to download them to the device (in other words, no pinning.) and only make them streamable? I would be happy with that. I mean, it would suck for flights and stuff where you don't have a connection, but It'd be better than the solution that they've currently got going.
Thoughts?
screw that they get no money
the movie industry can continue to screw themselves over
Yeah I dont understand... it just gives people a REASON to Pirate movies.
"oh I cant rent this movie on my tablet? Fine then I'll just hit up a torrent site"
Expecting the media copyright holders to be reasonable might be a bit naive
Google has to go along with whatever crazy **** they demand to license their content.
I have no problem whatsoever paying for a rental. I pay for netflix, hulu and frequently comcast on-demand stuff already. If I want to watch a movie on my tablet though, and the easiest thing to do is hit up usenet, then so be it. It usually downloads faster that way anyway.
If they want my money, they just have to make it convenient or at the very least not annoying...

On another thread someone said that rooted Xooms could rent Google movies, just rent them through the web-based market. I haven't tried it yet.
web market works
Web market works for movie rentals through the native browser, helps to be logged into YouTube with the purchasing account through the browser as well. Also u have to set the quality lower if u didn't purchase the HD version. Works fine on my rooted 3.1 xoom. I have the hulu 10.3 and I believe the root 3.1 included the ua-string. I get errors trying to watch it through the native video app and I can't figure out how to open it in the native YouTube app, but full screen works fine through the browser streaming.
Same applies to watching it through browser on any computer too, we should get more then a day to watch it through...
Just purchase mega viewer pro... problem solved lol

Does it allowed to be downloaded/pinned? I'd like to find a solution for watching offline as I travel often.
All this is going to do is make people want to pirate movies. If it isn't easy to just purchase the movie than people are just going to go through other routes to get it on their device.
They are targeting root users, root users are the ones that know how to get stuff on the device without having to go through the market. In my opinion they will for sure lose more money by doing this.

Yeah, it was OK. I just couldn't justify the cost, when the TV stuff is so easy to see rerun on cable over and over, all day long. It's a shame, but once they doubled my price I cancelled Watch Instantly and went back to DVD-only.
It's hence rather annoying that, having removed the Netflix app (which helpfully doesn't let you manage your DVD queue), it's been forced back on me by the latest firmware when I don't have (and will never have) any use for it.

It's going to get significantly worse, as well. Netflix lost their Starz deal, which means they'll be removing ~1,000 of their best movies from Watch Instantly as of early 2012.
The money they *were* paying for the Starz content (~$30 million per year for all ~1,000 movies together), they will instead be spending on Dreamworks content from 2013, priced at $30 million per year, PER MOVIE.
In other words, Netflix dropped 1,000 Sony and Disney movies through Starz, and used the same amount of money to pay for one single Dreamworks movie. And they'll be getting a grand total of three Dreamworks movies in 2013 -- which means they still need to find another $60 million worth of existing content that they can drop, to pay for the other two Dreamworks flicks.
Watch Instantly is rapidly spiraling down into a vortex of suck.
I'm confused. Wasn't Netflix available on the iPhone/iPad first?
*EDIT*
Yup. OP says iPad>Transformer
Transformer has Netflix. Netflix on mobiles isn't that old. It was first released on Apple Products then slowly released to Android. Whats the big deal? We could watch Netflix even before it was "officially" supported.

Yup, we could side load it pretty early on, ever since I have had my TF at least about 3 months. Im waiting for an official hulu+.
I bought most my employees ipad2s a few months back and fired one about a month ago so I had some time to play with a rooted ipad2. I must say that I was not impressed, I loved my TF more in just about every aspect. The only place the ipad was better was in battery life, but it also took 4 times as long to charge compared to my TF. Plus the TF paired with the dock leaves the ipad2 in the dust. I ended up giving the ipad2 to my church lol.

Not to mention that the recent tablet-specific UI update from Netflix came out on Android tablets first and it hasn't come out for iPads as of yet.
As for Hulu+, have you tried side-loading their app from a phone yet? I "harvested" the apk from my Glacier and installed it on my TF, and Hulu+ runs just fine on it. You just can't have any of the ad blockers running or your HOSTS file blocking anything.
