I downloadad a .jpg file from Dropbox, but can't find it. I'm using Astro to search. Help, please.

it defaults to the dropbox folder on the root of the internal storage.
if the jpg was in a subfolder on your dropbox account, it will be in that subfolder.

In most cases you can't open a file from the dropbox folder by using a file explorer.
Open the Dropbox app and navigate to the folder you saved it to in Dropbox. Select the file (long press) and it will give you the options.
You can use another app (Dropsync) to synchronize your dropboxfiles with your tablet.
A little confusing because Dropbox doesn't actually 'store' your files on each device (only metadata or something like that) unless you tell it to 'download' the file.
Hope this helps.

I found the file! Thanks to you who replied.

Where does the browser downloads go?

I don't mean to resurrect a year old thread here, but I was looking for the default download location because I couldn't find my downloaded files in /sdcard/download.
Apparently the default display settings for EStrongs and Astro file managers are different. EStrongs doesn't show hidden files by default, which is why I couldn't find my downloaded files beginning with a '.'
So I have my EVO mounted and while viewing the root of the SD card I hit <Ctrl>H to show hidden files and then go to .Trash-1000 and all of the files that I thought I had deleted from the music folder are in this folder.
Any info on how to get rid of these files? Even if I try to re-select them and delete they disappear for 1 sec then return... They are .flac files and are very large, so I need them gone.
What is the proper way to delete files directly from folders?
What computer are you using with your phone? '.Trashes' is the name Macintosh uses for the un-emptied trash folders. I imagine similar processes are used by other OSes. To empty it simply requires emptying the Trash (or Recycle Bin) from Finder or the like. You can also use any file browser when the phone isn't mounted to delete that folder directly.

By default on Ubuntu (and other distros with GNOME), pressing delete just puts files in a trash folder. In the file browser you'll have to "Empty Trash" to delete them.
If you want to skip sending them to the Trash in the first place, press "Shift-Delete"
I Usually delete that entire folder.

I follow a well known celeb on twitter and want to download her photos onto my phone, but when i click on the photo to save it to my phone it says content not supported, no program can open this file, if i do save it, it is a .bin file, your not given the option to rename it.
If i do this on my pc the file gets saved as a .jpg
Any help please??
Thanks
Um, just out of curiosity what exactly are your intentions with said photo?

Just to save it on my phone, in an album. Have found a workaround though, I have to save it on my phone as a bin file, then rename it as a JPG in Astro File Manager, is there no other way?

Use root explorer, find the dcim folder. Inside there find the mei folder. Inside mei folder create a file and name it .nomedia now that folder or any files won't show in gallery. Or delete the mei folder from dcim with root explorer not via gallery

Then it must be down to an app that's using storage permission to create that folder. Try to find the app and disable permissions or delete
I have the same too, but that folder is not a big deal... If you deleted the "mei" folder, it will reappear again when you open LINE app...
There's a downloads app (system app) yet it doesn't seem to show up as an icon, with the Google Nexus and Huawei Mate 20 Pro, I could access this app and see files that have been downloaded.
In the download folder it's empty. Yet if I go to attach a file in gmail there are files in the download folder.
Both Google Photos and Gallery don't show the images stored in this folder either. There's also no files in Google chrome downloads.
So how do you clean out what's in there if you can't access it.

You are correct. Weird as that's been part of android for some time. Lucky solid Explorer for me. Though weird nonetheless. Maybe we can create a shortcut for it through Nova
I did and once created when I tap on it I get permission denied. Methinks Samsung wants us to use their file manager
Yes it's weird, You're rigt solid explorer seems to work. I'll just use this as my default file manager, solid can connect to my computer too which is a bonus.
