indeed it will work. there are several option to do that;
1. copy the apps you want to save in /system/app, paste it somewhere in your sd and install after changing ROM.
2. Use titanium backup and restore after changing ROM.
Tnx alot. Ill do it today. Posting result.

I'm only after installing CyanogenMod and I'm really happy with it but I have two problems.
1) The Android Market is currently not there? I tried to download an APK file, but how do I install it if I can't download an app to do that?
2) I did a backup with nandroid before I installed the ROM, if I restore the backup I made. Does this remove the ROM? I want all my apps back etc. Is there anyway I can make this so it doesn't remove the ROM but instead restores the essential things I backed up?
Thanks
You need to download the gapps file and install then you will have Google apps and market

Second above post. Legally CM is not allowed to include the gapps n the build. I believe they even received a cease and disist order for having gapps standard on the roms.

Yeah, I read that on the internet so I'll try that. Is that why there is no YouTube app etc.? Thanks

If you want to restore all your apps use titanium backup.

I was on.free x10 i cooked my own theme didnt like it and.i went and installed some apps and.stuffs but when i restored freex10 again to take off my theme and let it be replaced whit the stock froyo one well all my apps was kept + the live wallpaper i had set before restoring again any clue ?
Sent from my X10i using XDA Premium App
I am guessing you had the same apps when you backed up before you added the theme..... If so, when you restored FreeX10 vanilla, you did a full restore and restored your settings and apps.
If you want a clean install of Freex10, reinstall custom zip via xRecovery or don't restore apps and data.
I just restored like i always used to and it never happened to me i didnt do an advanced restore :/

You should have done an advanced restore, so you don't restore apps and data.
Oh well anyways i got what i want.so its fine ;p

Sorry, I am new and maybe this is a silly question. Can I flash a new rom without loosing my apps and their settings and my games and their saves ? Like backing-up all these.

If you are rooted use titanium backup from market, but the fact you asked this indicated you need to study more before you start flashing roms
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
hahaha. Thank you very much for your quick answer ! Maybe you are right. The fact is that I already flashed my phone 2-3 times but never interested in backing-up. On the other hand now, I have spent a lot of time with it and I do not want to loose my apps. Is there something specific I should do with titanium back-up ? or I just back-up with this app and then, after I flash, I restore ? ( sorry haven' t used it before )
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
Yeah you just backup before flashing, restore after. Bear in mind I don't think it is compatible between cm7/miui and samsung - based roms.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
Well restoring app data can cause problems, but that is depending on what rom you are flashing to and from, and like any app you need to learn to use it I recommend paid version as it allows you to batch restore and backup

I am going to flash an oficial rom. 2.3.4 Don' t know which yet.

You may have problems with app data but I'm really not sure, you will know if you do because you will get a lot of fc of apps

thank you slaphead20 and jaju123 very much ! I will try to save anything I can with titanium. flashing is much more important for me.

Some games store their save files on the SD card (data or similar). So if you flash a new ROM, all you need to do is reinstall the game and you can start where you left.
Thank you !
ive never had any problems backing up and restoriing ONLY user downloaded apps between cm7, stock and miui using titanium. the only thing which would cause you problems would be restoring system apps..
if you wish to backup messages also and use them with other firmwares u could also use GoSMS, which has a backup function
If i factory reset my phone will i lose my root and g3 mod
Sent from my GT-I5800 using XDA App
Nope you wont ! only the installed apps will be gone
Thanks dude ill try that. Its my gallery thats not working. Do you think it will repair that?
Sent from my GT-I5800 using XDA App
Didnt work. Gallery stil not working
Sent from my GT-I5800 using XDA App
Which rom are you on?
Edit: use quickpic app instead.. Its Way faster than the 3D gallery..
What Good is the eye candy if it takes ages just to load the pictures
Factory reset is a great way of getting the "new phone" feel. Frees up a ton of internal storage. Its best to take a backup, e.g. with Titanium backup, before doing reset.
Im on jpf rooted and overclocked and using g3mod extreme. ill try that other gallery and see if it works then il report back cos i think it could be buggy firmware

Good evening guys, (in Italy it's half past six p.m.) i tried the old GingerXperia v22 ROM, it's really good, it works perfectly on alfs 08 with no bugs and pretty xperia style. But two things i want to change: the MMS app, is in english, and i want put the stock gingerbread MMS app wich is italian; and the Camera, it's miui style, pretty, but it has a bug in video recording, and i want replace it with the stock camera app.
it's an odexed ROM, how to do this? just change the apps in the zip file to flash?
Good question, i use prime HD rom but i like radio apk from antchojan rom.
Enviado desde mi E15i usando Tapatalk
changing the apps wont work...radio and camera are service apps which keep on running...this should work:-
1.change the app
2.copy permissions from that rom
3.HAVNT TRIED IT BUT SHOULD WORK
(correct me if im wrong,anyone??)
hit thanks if this works...
If you have backups of the apps that you want in your ROM then what you could do is delete the original system apps and replace them with the one you want and set permissions as:
XXO
XOO
XOO
