According to http://cm-nightlies.appspot.com/?device=encore, Nightly 135 would include:
bluetooth network service (android_packages_apps_Settings)
bluetooth networking (PAN) (android_frameworks_base)
Does this mean that we can now send/receive files to/from other bluetooth enabled devices??? (Like mobile phones with bluetooth/PCs with bluetooth etc???)
Can someone clarify this? I know I can find out myself by waiting for the next nightlyand trying it out, but I was just so excited and couldn't resist to post a question...
I use Bluetooth File transfer to move files between my Nook and Evo. No problems pairing and moving files, running RC7.1 but it did work on 7.0.2 also.

Yup, works fine. I sent some pictures to my phone from the Nook earlier using Bluetooth.
I've been doing this as well for a while now between my phone (Motorola Droid) and Nook and even from my PC to nook and back. Although I haven't done the PC part recently since upgrading to Windows 7

I am trying to determine if you can send/receive files over bluetooth, between a Magic and a netbook running Ubuntu (9.10 specifically). Bluetooth works on both devices with my headset. Both devices can see eachother during discovery. Other than dealing with that absurdly short pairing timeout and the lovely 6 digit PIN I can get to the "Paired but not connected" state.
However all attempts to send or receive files, initialed from either side fail.
Does anyone have bluetooth file transfers working between the phone and a computer running Ubuntu (both directions), and if so how (what setup, what app, etc)?
I like ubuntu,too.
why don't try wi-fi.
I use the "FTPServer"(app download market). Send file to my G2 almost 1M/s
gtalk to me,talk about Ubuntu .
I notice that I cna't get bluetooth to conenct with my ubuntu netbook.
wifi tether won't obtain Ip address either.
Wifi works fine. It is somewhat the principle of the mattter, and somewhat if I am already using bluetooth to pair with my headset, why run another power draining radio to push or pull a small file to/from my netbook.
I have wifi FTP working. Also have Wifi Tether and use it all the time. I guess I am greedy... want bluetooth as well. It should be possible once I sort out what the issue is.
Status update
After installing gnome-user-share and allowing Personal File Sharing->Share Files over Bluetooth, and unpairing and repairing the handset yet again I now can push files from the netbook and the phone. I cannot browser either device remotely and pull files though.
So it is half working. Does anyone have both push and pull working?
I have seen several posts stating that bluetooth tethering works with the Aria, but I'm not having any luck. I am rooted, running FR008 (thanks attn1). I am hoping to connect my Archos 101 via bluetooth so I can use the Aria's GPS receiver to run navigation apps on the 101.
Am I reading this all wrong? Is bluetooth tethering really possible with this device and ROM?

The term 'tethering' usually involves sharing the phone's network connection with a PC so that a PC is able to access the Internet through the phone. Bluetooth tethering allows a PC to make a BT connection to the phone to share the network connection. In some cases you can also access the phone's SD card to copy files and you can copy pictures and contacts. I have not seen any reference to bluetooth tethering in regards to utilizing the phone's GPS connection. Please anyone correct me if I am wrong.
I try to pair my phone but It says " paired but not connected " and no option to connect
I get the same thing. It looks like it doesn't have any usable profiles i.e. my headphones shows phone audio and media audio profiles. My BT Keyboard (obviously) shows a keyboard profile. There are no profiles showing for the EVO tho.
The only way I can get my MT4G running CM7 to connect is using wifi tether in bluetooth mode. They coonect easily then. Without it I can get them to pair but not connect.

Unpair the phone from the xoom.
Open wireless tether
turn on bluetooth tethering
open settings
make device discoverable
re-pair devices
then the correct profile will appear.

Well i am not trying to connect for that, im trying to use the xoom as speakers or transfer files or something else.
do i need to run a external app to have them connect after being paired?
When im running a SENSE based rom and not cm7 and i connect via bluetooth on my laptop for instance it will let me play music via my evo to my laptop lol
maybe i should try using a sense based rom and try pairing
i've gotten it to work for a file transfer once. Mikfroyo has no trouble with this though.

You should be able to transfer files after that. Sense roms wouldn't connect for me.

Has anyone tried using an Evo as a bluetooth keyboard for the Xoom?

thnx for the help. i dont have wireless router just a bluetooth and im in no financial position to spend at the moment. im just curious as to why this doesn't work. could this be a problem with CM9?? or the fact that i havent rooted my NC?? i run CS9 from SD (waiting for the stable release). thnx again for any and all help!
Looks like your setup is the same as mine same windows and I've used older and newer CM9 and have no problem sharing to or from the PC as long as my Nook stays close the the PC (less than 12" away.)
You can set up an adhoc network with win 7. This just requires your pc and the nook.

As far as I remember from discussing this with Nook devs on #nookcolor, NC's bluetooth doesn't have a connected antenna, therefore the signal is *extremely* weak. Too weak to do anything meaningful with it.
I've been trying to transfer files between my nexus 10 and my galaxy nexus, but with no luck. This is what did:
(1) turn on bluetooth on both devices, and pair
(2) go to ES file browser, long press the (plan text) file to bring up menu, then select share -> bluetooth --> ok
(3) Got a message on the notification bar saying that the bluetooth was not successful.
I am able to use my bluetooth keyboard with both devices so at least that part works. I searched this forum but I was not able find any posting on this topic; any advice on how to do bluetooth file transfer is most appreciative.

I think its a hit or miss with Bluetooth transfer. First I had the same issue as you, but when I tried later it worked without problem. I know the Bluetooth on the nexus isn't 100%, so might he a problem on that end (haven't tested the n10 Bluetooth extensively).

Thanks. Could you describe exactly what you did to successfully perform a bluetooth file transfer?
(also, an off-topic question: How is CM10.1 working out for your gnex?)
Depends on what u are trying to transfer, tried transferring an apk from my laptop to my N10 but I couldn't, transferring an apk from n10 to s2 worked tho
