[Solution]How to avoid cropping wallpaper and use full pic instead. - Acer Iconia A500

For all of those asking this question i have found a solution. In android market download the free live wallpaper "multi picture" you may find it by simply typing live wallpapers in the search bar. When you go to set the live wallpaper click settings and change the picture source to the the image you desire and set the transition effect to none, then be sure the pic size is set to full screen. This will give you any full image as a solid background with no resize or cropping needed.

thanks..but think this one belong to themes and apps

Isn't this method actually a live wallpaper that constantly changes the background picture (in this case changes endlessly one and the same picture) and thus leading faster to a battery drain? Thank you for pointing this out, I've read about it somewhere before but haven't tried it yet...

Ive been using it a while now and have noticed no drain. What it is really intended for is allowing you to have a different picture for each of your home screens. It is not one of those slide show apps but instead just allows multiple picture with nice transition effect.

How do you get it to not force you to crop your wallpaper? I have a 720p wallpaper I would like to use but I have to pick 3/4 of the size. I really want to quit using my lwp for the extra battery life. Am I using the wrong res? I really want the picture to stay the same even when I swipe screens. Can someone help me out please?

download Multipicture Live Wallpaper from the market, tons of ppl use this to fix that problem. Resizes the images perfect everytime.
Just add it from the live wallpaper list and set it to a single image source. Good to go.

Cool! Forgot about this. I've been looking for a way to do this on my Xoom for awhile. Now my wallpapers look awesome because I can view the whole entire image now. Thanks!
I think there should be these kind of resize options as a part of the Android OS by default within the gallery app.

I am not sure if it is when you are running stock. I am running tabooney custom rom which is deodexed and has several tweaks including kernel tweaks. It doesnt slow anything on mine. All i can suggest to you is to be sure that transition effects is set to none within the settings menu of the live wallpaper itself.

Nice App
Great Tip
It even puts a different desktop on each screen. I love this app.
Thanks Much
Another way of doing it is with Wallpaper Wizardii:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.twistedapps.wallpaperwizardrii&feature=search_result
The app works only in portrait here but sets the wallpapers just as it should. You can select for the wall to be scrollable or not plus other fine tuning options.
Thanked for the tip, the wallpaper scaling was just downright horrible before

Wallpaper Crop?

Is there anyway I can just use the wallpaper I download without cropping?
I tried wallpaper slideshow but it like locked up when I set it up and when it applies wallpaper its shifted way to the right and part of the background is dark.
Any help thanks!
Did you try Multipicture Live wallpaper app?
I used the app called wallpaper wizardri. Just try to look for a picture of resolution (1200x800) i believe.
Google wiffed on the wallpapers having to be cropped, which i believe is bs and another pain users have to hurdle through.
Should I resize the image before trying to set it?

You dont really have too, you either will be resizing it in honeycomb when you crop it but if you do it then, the resolution would suck
Wallpaper size
Hi
I found that to have crisp unpixelted wallpapers I needed to get a much bigger image than I though as it needs to work both vertical / horizontal.
So i ended up downloading huge pictures to make it work - 1200x1920
^^ completely agree. This will give you the best results. Even over an app.

[REQ] This wallpaper sized appropriate for GTab 10.1?

Hey everyone, I'm digging around trying to find this wallpaper for my Galaxy Tab 10.1 sized so it crops right. Anyone happen to have it?

Just use this app "Simple Image Wallpaper Free" it'll set ant wallpaper you'd like without cropping. You'll find it in "Live Wallpapers" and from settings browse to choose your wallpaper.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ridgelineapps.simpleimagewallpaper
Good luck!
Check out MultiPicture Live Wallpaper too. It also sets wallpapers without cropping.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.tamanegi.wallpaper.multipicture
You can specify a folder for wallpapers and set it so double tapping the background on the home screen cycles through different wallpapers. Simple and lag-free.
I have a folder with over a hundred wallpapers in it and change them whenever i feel like it simply by double tapping the homescreen.
Thanks guys!
Anything equal or above 3 megapixels should be fine for cropping...atleast wont be at all pixelated...try custom Google image search....

It's quite a lagfest on CM9.

Hmm..that's odd. I'm using the CM9 ICS WiFi preview and everything's buttery smooth. Anyway there are plenty of alternatives I guess.

[Q] Wallpaper isn't scaling correctly.

Not quite sure what I'm missing, but I can't get my wallpaper to scale correctly. It is consistently zoomed in such that what should be a really crisp, beautiful wallpaper (such as to those bundled with CM 10.1), is instead fuzzy around the edges. I've tried messing with both my launcher (Apex) settings and my developer settings, but to no avail. Any help? What more information should I provide?
Nexus 10 (16gb Wi-Fi)
CM10.1 20130313 Nightly
Stock Kernel (interactive/noop)
Use something like quickpic or wallpaper wizardii or my preferred simple image wallpaper not sure why this always happens but don't fret just use an app and itll scale down properly

I have the same experience, QuickPic provides sharper wallpapers than standard Gallery. Use it to set your wallpaper (otherwise I think the default gallery is better for viewing photos (smoother))
Simple Image Wallpaper Free from the play store works great and very easy to use. if you decide to use it, you wont find with the other apps. long press the screen, hit live wallpaper, and there it is. after that its easy

Im using it but I dont like that you cant choose that the wallpaper doesnt move. When I set the wallpaper, it scales good, but on the homescreen only, on the other screens I have to choose a colour to be shown because the image doesn't cover all the homescreens. Hope you understood me, sorry for my english.
i also found simple image wallpaper free to provide the best visual quality. i especially enjoy its ability to define completely different images for landscape and portrait orientations. that is a stylish effect, and it is very unexpected (compared to usual themes).
somehow, wallpaper wizardrii and other apps which use an image instead of a live wallpaper provoke my n10 to occasionally reset the background to that ugly green leaf... i don't know if anyone has already fixed this since the last time i checked.
Multipicture live wallpaper let's you set any amount of pictures to rotate as the background or you can set a single picture... Works great with no crazy android zooming

Make sure your wallpaper is sized properly for the launcher you are using. If you are using the stock launcher, the wallpaper should be 3966x2560. This will fit your wallpaper perfectly in the 5 home screens...with the center of the image being in the main home screen.
I tried Simple Image wallpaper but could not stand the fact that it always runs and uses 13 MB of RAM. Great program just hate that it needs to run all the time.

Hmmm. I killed the process and the wallpaper disappeared so I assumed it needed to run as long as I wanted the wallpaper to fit perfectly. I will try that thanks for the tip. Weird that leaving it installed but killing it didn't work.....

Ah my mistake. It still does reset. Must have been one of the other wallpaper apps I tried that I was able to do that with

Use https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alensw.PicFolder, it's just setting the wallpaper (you can uninstall it) but it does it properly. Maybe even with some sharpening, I don't know. The result is simply good.
Search ”image 2 wallpaper” on the play store. Works perfectly for me.
