Hello, I know the Droid has only been out a few days, but is there anyone out there that has the icons / iconpack from the 2.0 OS? Like the green Smiley messaging icon, the new market icon etc. Thanks
ive been on search for this as well.. anybody has?
no as easy as that
you need to open the apks and insert the icon in the correct folder
dl this and try
http://www.4shared.com/file/154098442/3afed84e/Mms.html
for my instructions put downloaded file in root of c:
adb remount
adb pull /system/app/mms.apk c:\android
adb push c:\mms.apk /system/app
reboot phone
if mms fails
adb remount
adb pull /system/app/mms.apk c:\
adb push c:\android\mms.apk /system/app

I'm setting up this thread to keep extra functions on AOSP 1.6 & the actual development of AOSP 1.6 separate.
Discuss issues with extra functions in this thread & NOT the AOSP 1.6 thread.

Thanks:
quietcbelongs for working on AOSP 1.6
gbhil for the two signed update.zips, this really makes it much easier for everyone
cyanogen for the framework-free HTC keyboard
Great thread.
A couple things to do after you get the Googlebits on:
Move su
Code:
#cp /system/xbin/su /system/bin/su
#ls /system/bin/**to verify su copied**
#rm /system/xbin/su
Install busybox symlinks
Code:
#busybox --install /system/xbin/
I'm loving this build. As soon as GPS gets working I'm deleting my 1.5 nandroid backup.

Link perfectly fine for me, site is loading a little slow, but it's still there.
Thanks for posting googlebits.
Just a FYI
its a bit cleaner if you do the following.
unarchive google bits to androidsdk/tools
change dir to androidsdk/tools
adb remount
adb push system/framework /system/framework
adb push system/etc/permissions /system/etc/permissions
adb push system/app /system/app
adb reboot

I prefer to push each file individually but I guess that would work also.

Worked great for me! Thanks!
It may be something else I've broken (I've been tinkering), but is anyone getting gmail push with this build?
Mine seems to have stopped. I can check the mail manually, but nothing is getting pushed to me. Since this could be a Google issue, or something I've done, I'm looking for input before i troubleshoot.

I'm also having issues with new emails being pushed to my phone, but I have been tinkering with SU, so I also may have broke it. I have already installed this on another friend's Hero & I'm going to see if they are having the same issue.
UPDATE:
My friend has not been having an issues receiving new email or with the notifications, so something related to SU or busybox, is possibly causing the issue.

I think there might be issue with Google sync after the initial sync.

Thanks. I went the whole way back. RUU, rooted with 1.5.2 recovery, flashed quietcblongs 1.6 and copied over googlebits. I'll leave it for a while and verify sync works as expected.
I don't see how busyboxes symlinks or moving su could break it, but your research mirrors mine, so we will see what happens.
Sometime last evening Google syncing stopped again. I'm going to try some mixing and matching with the various 1.5 and 1.6 versions of googlebits.
When i put the code in the cmd it says code not found
i meant error device not found
Did you install the Android SDK? If you did, did first cd to the tools folder of you Android SDK, before you did all the adb commands?
i did i do not know what is wrong
I have updated modaco 1.3 and no keyboard on my Nexus One now, I have tried many time by holdding menu key or touch to input text but no keyboad show
Any ideas to resolved ?
I hope you made a nandroid back up because f you did then you can just restore and try flashing again. You could also grab an alternative keyboard from the. market or HTC_ime here
take the VoiceSearchWithKeyboard.apk from /system/app/ in the ROM you are using and push it to system/app.
you can try
Code:
adb remount
adb shell rm /system/app/VoiceSearchWithKeyboard.apk
adb shell rm /system/app/VoiceSearchWithKeyboard.odex (if it exists)
adb push VoiceSearchWithKeyboard.apk /system/app/
adb push VoiceSearchWithKeyboard.odex /system/app/ (if the .odex exists)
adb shell reboot
Hey everybody, how do you install the mms.apk to my phone so i can send mms in the right size. Not sure how to do it.
Dont want to go back to stock rom.
Thanks
Explained here
adb devices
adb remount
adb push Mms.apk system/app
adb reboot
Hi
I've managed to get rid of the crappy Samsung TouchWiz calendar app, and replace it by the vanilla android Calendar.apk (pulled from CyanogenMOD 5.0.8).
To do this I did the following:
Code:
adb shell
su
rm /system/app/Calendar.*
rm /system/app/CalendarProvider.*
chmod 666 /data/system/packages.xml
exit
exit
adb pull /data/system/packages.xml c:\packages.xml
[removed the Calendar and CalendarProvider entries with notepad++]
adb push c:\packages.xml /data/system/packages.xml
adb install c:\CyanogenMOD5.0.8\CalendarProvider.apk
adb install c:\CyanogenMOD5.0.8\Calendar.apk
Worked like a charm!
Now i'm trying the same with Contacts
however this time around it's not working so easily.
Each time I'm trying to install the new ContactsProvider and Contacts apk's, I'm given the following error:
Code:
adb install ContactsProvider.apk
42 KB/s (146217 bytes in 3.344s)
pkg: /data/local/tmp/ContactsProvider.apk
Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_UPDATE_INCOMPATIBLE]
Any ideas??
I'd love to get a few minutes alone with however at Samsung decided to take this wonderful piece of hardware and cram it full with cheap, buggy iPhone-ripoff software
well to start off, it clearly said it was "Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_UPDATE_INCOMPATIBLE]"
find a compatible APK then try again
I know this is and old thread but did you finally getit working?
