Covers and cases - General

I thought I would start this thread for people to post about covers and cases that they have found that are either specifically designed for the Iconia, or alternatively generic covers and cases that will fit the device.
A few that I have found include:
Built NY
Generic netbook cases. I have tested the 9"-10" cover and the Iconia fits beautifully. Offers good protection, especially if you're throwing the device in a backpack or bag.

Typo
Typo stores (Australia) stock a generous sized leather iPad cover. I have tested the Iconia in it and it works a treat. No online store though I am afraid.

I am using the Nylon Sling Sleeve originally made for Macbook Air 11".

It has a super soft interior - perfect for keeping the screen scratch-free and roomy enough to allow for a gel-case. Also has a couple of exterior pockets for cords, etc.
It is a little pricey though.

For those who need water protection for their tablet.... I got this for my Nook Color with the goal to use with my next tablet (which became my Acer . It was a little big for the Nook, but a good size for the Acer.

I am using a Duronic 10.2 notebook pouch/sleeve from Amazon UK (link). It is a decent fit although there is some slack in the thickness and height. For £3.25 delivered it is a bargin.

My local Best Buy said they should have cases in by the end of next week. Glad Staples has them online but I think I may wait till they have them in the sotres so dont have to pay shipping.

Buy it online and have them send it to your local store to avoid paying shipping. My total was $43 with tax. It specifically said FREE for shipping and I will pick it up tuesday. Dont chance going all the way to next weekend without a case. These machines are slippery.

Now all I have to do is see if I could ind a promo code tonight. If I order tonight it will be there by Tuesday. Thanks for the heads up silkjones.

Works great. I was out floating around in the pool reading via the Acer today. The issue is trying to read in bright sunlight. I've found it best to read in the shaded area of the pool.

Tried it @ Best Buy; the. a500 is about 1/2" larger on width & height than the Xoom.
While I was there I did get a Targus iPad CityGear Messenger bag; the A500 is a bit too wide to fit into the intended interior sleeve, but the main compartment is just the right size. Now I have a convenient bag for the cables & a keyboard should I get one.

Galaxy Tab 10.1 for 400, worth it?

Hey guys I have the option of buying a great condition galaxy tab 10.1 off of a friend for 400 bucks. You guys think thats a legitimate deal? Or should I wait for a better instore deal?
EDIT: Incase I need to send it in for warranty, how does samsung handle it, do I need the original receipt or is it through serial numbers?

It was 16gb but I already picked it up, I talked the guy down to 370.

Screen protector: Naked, especially if you're just keeping it around the house, it has Gorilla Glass. It's not like it's going to be in a jeans pocket rubbing against grains of sand.
Apps/widgets: That's a personal thing, based on what you're going to be using the Tab for. Go browse the Android Market (use the web-based version) and start downloading.
Best ROM: Run stock KMB for awhile, then you'll know if you want/need the enhancements(or reductions) found in the custom ROM packages.

Alright Croak will do. And thanks lost. I'm really liking the screen on this think, its miles ahead of the screens on my old tablets (Elocity A7 and Nook color)

You already got it, but keep an eye on the screen moisture issue. I picked one up off Craigslist and it has very bad moisture issue. I am not yet sure how Samsung offers or if they will support this type of purchase.

Jeff - That is the standard Acer case. You can get it from Acer's website, or Best Buy or Staples. If my memory serves me correct it was about $39.00 but by now it could well be less.

According to the video you can get it at hmv.com. They ship internationally. You can also find them at staples. Thinking about getting one myself.

Yep, what Erica said. I've got the original Acer case and end up holding it upside down otherwise the tablet slowly slips out.

I had that case. It sux. My tablet fell out and smashed the screen up. I now have one from amazon by casecrown. It cost $0.01 plus $4.99 shipping. It is much better, stiffer, and velcros the tablet into place. Here's the link:

Anyone bought this case yet ?
I'm thinking whether I should buy this one for my wife. I got her Diztronic and Rearth cases but this one seems like it would protect the phone much better.
However I'm not sure if it looks good on paper or if it's actually a quality case, quite expensive.

Def a quality case. But they aren't shipping until 12/31, well for the non customized ones anyway. And ships from France, so it'll take a while to get to you.

I have purchased a case by Noreve in the past, and while it was good in quality, it is definitely not worth the price I paid for it, along with the fact that they were extremely slow in shipping their product (when I ordered, it took about a month for me to get it - not acceptable). For me, being expensive and slow are two no-no's when selecting a merchant.

Alternatives might be the Nillkin leather cases or the PDAir leather cases.

I think you cannot compare a real leather case hand made by an artisan, with a fake leather case made in series in China. I'll tell you my impressions as soon as I get it.

Yeah, I order mine without clip, but I am watching several reviews in YouTuve (for other models, didn't find a review for the nexus 4 one), and all of them are with the clip, so I guess it is either a popular option, or they added the option to not have a clip just in this model.

I understand they have some in stock, and make the others by demand (that's why it takes up to 14 days), so there should be possible to buy it in any colour.
I think I have already seen all the reviews available in YouTube for other mobile phones. If someone find a video review on the nexus 4 model, please post it!
Some written reviews says there is a cut for the front camera, which I guess is a confusion with the logo in the front of the case (what led me to think that that person do not actually have the case with him). Other written reviews says there is a cut for the micro usb, which is clearly false if you look at the pictures... That's why I don't like written reviews so much.

My case arrived before my phone did, ironically. I've tried it out on a buddies N4 and unsurprisingly, it's amazing, as with all Noreve products. I will post a review later on.

Just got it a couple of days ago.. $430 for a black 32gb brand new. Thinking about rooting and throwing a rom on the like cleanrom to eliminate the lag. I love it though! Any one know any good functional cases for a good price?

I purchased this case and I love it. I got the Red Carbon Fiber look. It holds the tablet securely without adding much bulk, and provides great access to everything, open or closed. The leather feel isn't super soft, but somewhat rigid and firm, which is nicer to me than just hard plastic, or soft leather. The prop up also works great and is very stable. For 20 bucks, I am absolutely happy with it.

that groupon link is for refurb'ed units. Walmart is also selling refurb for about $5 i think (both 16 and 32 version). But with Walmart you have 90 days to return...

Actually I got it from craigslist... Some guy here in NYC has 4 that he's selling for all the same price. Wifi-Only though. He said he might be getting some p605s in soon, so I told him to look me up as SOON as he gets em

^I like this case.... And the fact that it has a strap for holding and a stand and is slim in form factor.
