1) what app are you talking about
2) do you have the source code
doesn't 2.3 have a compatability mode which can be enabled in spare parts or it that just CM7?

I always thought that anything written on a lower level sdk was able to be run on higher versions. The deprecated code is still there. Like how you can run non honeycomb apps on honeycomb
I believe that a problem arises when trying to run new later version android apps on lower versions of android
From something awesome

Stock Gingerbread Launcher

Check it out on the market. Enjoy
Isn't most of the stuff from GB for 2.2+ only? I know that the stock keyboard won't work on 2.1 unless patched.
I believe it's been patched to work with Eclair. I've been running it just to check it out.
Where are you guys finding the keyboard I can't find it on the market and that qr code doesn't work either

I haven't located the keyboard or the live wallpaper. I looked up the launcher on the Market.

Native features of froyo not in wildfire

Do we have all the native features of froyo in wildfire?
I know we don't have live wallpaper. Is there anything else we are missing?

JIT. It makes sense UI unstable (this is just stupid).
No flash support either

The list of Froyo features we did actually get with this update is smaller

What can I do with my EVO shift if I root it?

Well I'm thinking of rooting my phone but I don't know what custom things I can do with it. So what can I do if I root my phone? Haha

Check the threads.. you currently can't root if your running Gingerbread.
Yea you currently can't root yet but when someone finds a method of rooting here's some of the things you can do
1) wireless tether (free) be able to use your phone as a wireless hotspot for free
2) make full backups of your system to restore to
3) Flash a sense rom that is optimized to speed up your device a lot
4) Flash custom kernels to overclock to speed up the phone and Undervolt to save battery plus more
5) Flash AOSP roms for stock android or flash something like MIUI which is a ROM with a different take on android
6) Batch Backup and restore apps
7) remove unwanted sprint bloatware
Those are just some of the things you can do
How much battery saving can be achieved by Undervolt?

A lot if you take a look at ScaryGhouls thread in the development forum he has a kernel called SUV which is Super UnderVolt and it means he put the kernel at very very low voltages. only some phones can handle the SUV though but he also has a stable one which is still UV'ed a lot. But his SUV one Is my favorite kernel devolped for the shift right now I love it. It saves so much battery. I can almost go a day and a half with it.
But until HTC releases source code he can't make one for sense 2.3.3 he only has one for AOSP roms

No problem. Once the evo 3D gets perm root the evo will shortly after that and then once the evo has it we will have it shortly after THAT.
Now that's not for sure but i would bet money tht will be what happens

SlideScreen Pro based ROM anyone?

Starting this week, hopefully, I wanna begin work on a 2.3 ROM for X8 featuring the SlideScreen Pro setup, but improving on a couple things, such as:
1) App interface Clean milky-white interface all around, with classic gray and orange colors. GingerBread (etc) options integrated into SlideScreen style
2) Gmail notifications to main screen Revert Gmail notifications from StatusBar onto main screen
3) Revamping looks, feel, and functionality Improving overall menu-ergonomics, giving it a SlideScreen-MIUI feel and look
Anybody wanting and willing to collaborate is more then welcome.
I'll post some preliminary interface pics after Tuesday, March 6th, since I gotta get a separate laptop running Linux, due to daughter needing play games on the PC . Once I do some basic mods to the SlideScreen interface, I'll test it on GB. Once I get the appropriate performance, I'll post Alpha.
like it
i like slidescreen
i like ur idea
may i give u more idea..
can you make it more ICSish..
ill wait..
maybe i can become the first tester..

No sorry not making a rom, was interested initially because I was looking for a good modded version of the launcher fully functional with no fc. I use 1.26 now but I want 2.0 full with no fc in Facebook.
