Video resolution not supported by sd card? - Epic 4G General

I'm trying to record in 720p format but after about ten seconds that message would pop up on the screen. Why is it doing this? Is anyone else having this problem? I'm running the leaked gingerbread stock rom.

Your sd card cannot write data fast enough to record at 720p

Pwned!!! Lol try using the app sd speed increase. Change the sd cache from 124 to 2048. Then download sd tools and run a speed test the change out. My card writes at a cool 6mb a sec and reads at 20+ mb.
Cheers!!

Downloaded SD Tools, and without changing anything got 6.7 MB/s Write, 17.0 MB/s read.
Changed to 2048 cache, and now get 7.7 MB/s Write, 21.5 MB/s read. Not that much of a difference.
All on stock EC05.
Was able to record longer than 10 seconds, but didn't test how much longer.
I will still probably look for a higher class memory card anyway, but this helped for now. Thanks.

Thanks for all the help. I'm going have to root to try that app. I may have to go on ebay and get a higher class card.

A class 8 card will deliver much better performance than the stock 2gb samsung or a (possibly class 1) cheap card in apps such as music and gallery. It will not make the overall phone performance better
A better memory card would mean better read and write speed. Anything other than that would be the same
And you'll notice a faster speed in transfering files via usb from ur comp to phone.
Go with Class 4-8.

Phone using SD card space

So, i havent seen anything about this.
but my phone puts about 2gb of things on the SD card. i have about 2gb of music and photos but 4gb of the sd card is being used.
i pulled all my files off and formatted the SD card before and at first it was fine but 5 min later the card was about half full again, any reason why?
Swap file cache maybe?

Is it possible the phone is just thinking backup files are still on the SD?
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA Premium App
Cache files usually. Is you file browser set to view system/hidden files? Lots of folders start with a period as file names.
[via XDA premium]
Use cache cleaner NG should hopefully resolve the issue.

Help! Restarting after insertting a micro sd card.

Hey any time I insert my micro sd that has more then about 300mg of stuff on it my TF will keep restarting and not read whats on the disk. It works fine on the computer and I've ran a virus check / reformatted the card and I still can't figure out the problem.. any advice? It's a Class 4 Duracell micro SD.

Yeah pushed the wrong key. And yes apparently they do. I'm wondering if it's the quality of the card?
Also what file system does the TF accept? I've been formatting the card to FAT32 (the one my computer automatically chooses)..?
what class? just for for a test try another micro SD card and see if u have the same issue

Yup just did that, swapped it with the one out of my phone. Formatted both, loaded them up and the duracell works fine in the phone and the the other which has been perfect in my phone for months is doing the same thing to the TF. It seems that if there's too much stuff on the the TF goes holy **** **** too much! and crashes / restarts.
EDIT: it's a class 4
I'm going to try putting movies on instead of music... maybe it's the mp3 files...
Ok so now my TF is barely even recognizing the sd card... it'll say preparing sd card when i insert it but if i click on the file viewer there's nothing in it.. then 30 seconds later the little icon disappears and no more sd card found... **** this is getting annoying.. and im far away from civilization for work..
i was going to downgrade to 3.01 from the leaked 3.1 now i can't even do that.
Quick question. Can I format SD and microSD using the Transformer? I'm guessing this would be the most compatible alternative. I'm not yet rooted.

I can't find an option to do that no.

low speed of SD card on stock ICS

Almost everything is perfect on stock ICS, except the very low speed of SD card, it is about 1MB/s, while the original is 3~4MB/s. what a big difference!
i suffers when transfering big files like movie, game, etc.
It is unbelievable google release the ICS OTA on nexus s with the big bug.
Hope google update it soon, btw, Cound anyboady tell me how to send feedback to google team about the nexus experience? i found no option in my phone.
Try the SD speed increase app and see if that helps.

EXFat is now supported on the SGS3!!! Tip for fast sdcard inside!

So I just seen that the SGS3 supports EXFat and files over 4gb's now. So if you want a really fast SD card, consider formatting from Fat32 over to exfat, and set block size to 16mb or 32mb. I know most if not all my files are 5mb or way over that, so not much space is wasted! I hope that helps someone

Can you format ex fat in the phone itself or has to be pc? I purchased a 64gb sdxc card and will need to do this.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Why on earth would you want a 32 MB block size? Seems like you would end up with a ton of wasted space.

Well for me I have a lot of movies, huge pictures, music over 7mb. I myself use 16mb. But for people that want full speed from exfat will select 32mb.

So would that mean that any files I have under 16mb will in fact take up 16mb of space? Even files that are only a few kb?
Yes. I know it sounds scary, but most small items are stored on the phone sdcard.

I didn't read the whole thread. But from what I saw, only 3 people had a problem. And at first he said he copied 1900 files and had corruption, then he states its a problem over 3000. I don't know if this is user error, or what. But thanks for the warning, Ill keep an eye out....... And if that guy was checking file by file for 1900 songs, that's some serious time, I call BS.

I unloaded my 64gb sd card, put it in the phone and it formatted it to exfat, I copied all my data back to the card and did a restore from mybackup pro, after the restore and reboot I then received a damaged sd card, i'm not sure what's going on, The only 2 options on windows is NTFS and exFat
Performance gain will be nominal. You're talking a phone here, not a database server dealing with heavy iOPS. I have a 64GB Class 10 in mine and performance could not be better. I also had a ***** of a time getting the card to register after I let my PC format it, had to, absolutely had to, let the device format it.
Note: I'm a heavy performance user who goes for maximum battery without overly sacrificing performance. Professionally, I build and configure SAN's for Exchange, SQL and vSphere. I make no claims to being a phone development god (thought about refreshing my skills there but frankly, don't have the time), BUT I'm also VERY good at what I do.

Had the same problem. I had no option but to let the phone format it. Delete the partition in windows and then you can format it. If you find another way though, let me know!
Sorry misread your post, I had the same error and had to let it reformat. Did you unplug it and put it into your PC? Were any corrective scans or anything done?
I removed everything back off the card, formatted it to fat32 and copied everything back to it, put it back in the phone and it's still saying it's damaged. Sucks, it's been in my EVO3D for a week now with no problems.
is the extra juice really worth the possibility of data corruption? Im not trying to be a wise guy, just really been wondering myself.

Well I must say now I'm worried. But I'm still going to test, I copy huge files to and from on a regular basis, if it saves me 3% in time each time, that is still worth it to me in the long run. I have very little patience, and all that time adds up.

seems to be working now, I had 8,000 temp files in a MyBackup Pro Directory, Deleted them and now it's working
So if I were to format my 64gb card to exfat and download movies to my phone using adownloader or atorrent, I wouldn't be able to transfer them to my ps3?
