sorry but i cant use another sim card or network
i can connect to gprs but after awhile after usage it goes down a again
its like that the fone wants to be connected all the time
try this... use the phone (play MP3s) in Airplane Mode (remove the sim card)... if the problem is resolve then it's really the sim card that's causing the speed up/volume decrease problems.
my Viva is not having the problem anymore after using another network's sim card.
yeah man ur right
after i check airplane mode and going back to normal mode, the speed and volume rate goes back again but again after a while it happens ...
it should be the sim problem but isnt there anyway to fix this?from where i live theres not that much option to choose other sims,
sorry mate... that's the only solution i know.
Yea rem is right, i also noticed this from a long time, its related to sim (opearator). The current sim iam using now doesnt have that prob.
hey i think i got it
some certain apps which i install always want to connect and thats the reason why the fon wanna be connected all the time
not exactly sure which one but i guess i should lower the amount of them and only choose some which are really needed
so i did a hard reset and the problem was solved
hope it help others too
thanx all
hey and one more thing which i find it the best way to solve my problem
u can use a mobile firewall to block all ur network activity and the apps which want to connect
as long a i cannot add a link so u can search for Airscanner® Mobile Firewall
peace
Hi,
I am using galaxy 3 with android 2.1 stock ROM. A new issue started happening from last 2 months frequently. Sometimes, gprs stops connecting and i have to restart my phone in order to connect to gprs again. Can anyone help me to find the solution to this problem?
i think thats ur service provider issue..!! but i can tell u a fyn solution... if ur gprs got dsconnected.. dnt reboot.. just turn on the flight mode.. then turn it off agn..!! it shld b connectd then agn...!!
This used to happen with me too when I was on BSNL. Since I have shifted to Vodafone, the problem has disappeared completely.
So, its the problem of service provider.
Thanks ranadip. I will try your suggestion next time it happens but I was wondering that this could be a service provider's issue..
Ya... Its a service provider issue... But the method wrkd fr me... dunno how & y...

try cache wipe and if it is still not working right, factory reset
I have the problem too! But it is NOT a service provider problem! The problem occours also when I switch from WLAN to gprs! It is a damn phone bug!
It aint a phone bug ...
Anyways ... Root your phone and try this world wide APN settings
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11301556&postcount=1
If it still doesn't work , its definitely teh network provider's problem ...
May be u shuld switch to airtel or vodafone then ..
@ osbozzy - i already have airtel
@ randip - i tried switching to flight mode on and off but it doesn't worked either..

gps has nothing to do with the provider...
if you buy any navi (not a phone) there is no provider too... so that cant be a provider problem

YEs ... I get it ... But may teh APN settings what u're using is not correct ...
But by placing this xml fil in \etc , u'd get teh world wide APN settings ...
Tht is , No matter what your network provider u're using , u'd not hav to manually change teh APN settings to browse . U'd automAtically get teh correct APN settings ..
And even if u change u're sim card or network provider , u need not hav to change teh APN settings ..
I will try that osbozzy after rooting my phone and let you know if that resolves the issue.
However, I want to add that currently, I do not need to change the apn settings. It is set automatically and if it is wrong, then internet would not work at the first place and this issue is random.
Use Fast reboot and the problem will be solved...

@ devilgod - how to do that?
What you guys have postet is not a solution. There must be a bug. Why does it work, when I activate and deactivate the flight modus?

Hi Guys,
I am in love with my phone ever since i ported Android into......
But there one issue that i am facing........
I am not able to receive calls on my HTC HD2 while i am buffering some video or dowloading huge data on an EDGE network.
DO any of you also have faced the same issue, Can you guys suggest me if there are any work around for this????
My Rom details are as below
Rom: TyphooN CyanogenMod 7 Nightly v3.3.4[2.3.4][A2SD][tytung r10]
Radio:2.15
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When using gprs/edge, the phone is effectively in use, so calls can't get through.
Think about the days of dialup modems,,, when the modem is connected the phone line is engaged.

there isnt one, 2g cannot have an active data connection and use voice calls
to do this you need to be on 3g
But when I contacted my service provider(Vodafone India) They mentioned that there is no such problem reported from my location.
They inturn told me that it could be some wrong settings done in the mobile....
I guess they are wrong then .... right????
If not is there any setting that i can tinker with to get this done....
PS: I have tried the rom with various radios as well but that was not much help....
radios will not help because whaty ou want cannot be done!!!! you cannot have a 2g connection downloading data and use voice at the same time, this can only be done on a 3g connection
your providing are not telling you the truth
Thanks for the reply guys.....
well I guess then its time to switch to 3G
hello there,
i rooted my wildfire a few days back & flashed CM 7.0.3 stable mod and now im experiencing a lag in data connection toggle.
once the phone is rebooted/turned on i can enable data access over mobile network, but after a while i can not... even though the data enable box is ticked & when i check the network type, it remains at HSDPA.
to re-enable data, i have to reboot or put the phone into airplane mode & back!
hope u guys can help me out!
cheers
same problem here!
i suggest u to move over to CM7 nightlies builds..its more stable then the "stable" 1 and seem so good so far..
I dont have any problems, uses the same cm7, but with latest radio, try changing the radio, else check if u had changed some thing in settings-wireless and networks, or check for some apks like autorun manager or task killers which ends some system applications/process,as some of them are critical for running android os,like android keyboard which when disabled makes your onscreen keyboard disà ppear, even though u use some other keyboard input method like better keyboard app.
And i am dam sure that its not a bug in cm7, just becoz as we all know android is an os which largely depends on internet for its functioning, so the developer will take much more care in data connection codes, and a bug like this wont happen. So get a whole check, ur problem will be solved.

Dear all,
I and my friend bought Samsung A8 a couple of days ago. We both are facing same call-drop issue.
We use BSNL prepaid SIMs and with default setting, whenever we change the mobile tower while talking, there is a squeaking digital noise and then the call drops. What I mean by default setting is, if you go Settings > Mobile Networks > Network Mode (BSNL in my case) > LTE/WCDMA/GSM (auto connecct).
I have tried many sorts of tweaks over this. First, I replaced my SIM card with a new one for no result.
Then, I found one curious behaviour. That is, if you put Mobile Networks to anything that has auto connect, you get this squeaking sound and call-drop. If you put the mode to *-only mode, the problem is no more! as far as I think this whole issue started after I have applied some update (don't know which, but now it is running the latest update and problem persists). Also, I have also tried complete reset to no avail. My phone has no apps other than the default ones.
I have been fed up with this issue to the core and thinking of changing the phone. Will you help me solve this issue?
Thanks,
Vivek
Call drop on Samsung Galaxy A8
Hi Vivek,
I have a exactly similar experience with A8. In the auto mode there can be 3G to 2g Ho and calls drop. But in locked mode of any of 2g or 3G , no problem.
Btw, which android version you are running?
Did it start after you installed any app?
Did you try to downgrade the firmware if you have the latest one?

Hi,
This is a problem in my friends device and he is out of town now. so I couldn't share.
Just to further confirm, you haven't faced this problem even when you are in auto connect mode, right? This is bit of strange.
