Not completly, they have minimal differences in radio and audio playback. Checked motorola's official specs.

Well I don't know if it's real or not but this pic has been circulating.

2.6.32-9 is the stock froyo kernel

It Looks little bit upgrade for the kernel from froyo
Sent from 2nd age of the Milestone

Maybe it's only a ROM. Just like the first leaked GB for D2/X which also hasn't an upgraded kernel.

I believe what he said, but I don't quite expect it right now, it takes too long to wait.
I hope this is a signal, that 2.3 for UK or Brazil or so will come soon, sooner I mean

Just wait...

I hope so too. I mean it's been long enough. A lot of Moto loyalists have bee jumping ship in the past few months because of Moto's customer service or lack thereof. I'm still a Moto-head, so here's to hoping for the best in the coming weeks.

Maybe someone could dig for the (fake?) leak in Motorola Servers.

This will be me. Unless Motorola pull something absolutely amazing off in the next 5 months (such as doing the complete opposite of what they do currently), this Milestone 2 will be my last Motorola phone.

As recent news shows, they haven`t pack the rom yet , so a leak in the near future seems impossible.
Ps: from some screenshots, the new UI in GB looks like MIUI in some way

Awesome does anybody know if the official update will be available OTA after upgrading to this, or are we going to have to do it manually?
Leaked DroidX Froyo 2.2 update
Leaked Froyo 2.2
ask any Incredible user about the link between a leak and an OTA...there isn't any. Verizon has been pretty good about Froyo and Moto phones but still, don't hold your breath. My opinion, apply the leak!
[edit: I misunderstood. Leak's out, no one mentioned an OTA]
why does the x not see the speed increase that all the other phones see? Like that 450% ? I know thus is sent from my Samsung but I have my x and for the life if me it KILLS me that we don't see the speed increase. WTF moto.

forgive me for sounding dumb but whats the difference between a "leaked" version and the official update?
That link takes you to a zip file. How do you install it on your phone? An if its froyo then why does this one member ask if he would still be able to do the official update after he installes the "leak". Wouldnt you already have it, or am i just totally missing something here.

idk about you guys, but personally i am really thankful that we have great engineers at goog working their asses off. they never stop trying to improve on perfection.
cheers.
battery icon recustomized back into htc icon and not in gingerbread icon? funny.
An SE phone using an HTC icon, with Android 2.4 & a 2.2 kernel. Talk about a mish-mash lol
It is the real thing though. the artice is published by a dutch tech site:
tweakers.net/reviews/1944/ces-hands-on-android-24-gingerbread-reloaded.html
The standman actually put the wrong handset into their hands. so they pulled a quick review on it. they confirmed 2.4 ran faster than 2.3 on the same handset also there is some new animations available.
just use google translate on the link above and you can read it a bit..
There's nothing special, if you familiar with software development, bump to next vision is the first thing must to be done after a major version released. so the head branch must be 2.4.

Remember how quickly Eclair 2.1 came out after Eclair 2.0?
How about giving us 2.3 first before teasing with 2.4?

No...because its on a Sony phone
their flagship the X10 isnt even getting froyo, i doubt they would get 2.4 first
also. 2.4 with the 32.9 kernel. not likely, it will most likely have at least 34.x kernel. i mean AOSP is up to 35.7 kernel

State of the Os Address

Just read a article that someone posted in the xperia arc forums, and it has a chart with all US carrier pre-froyo phones and how long it took to update to froyo once it came out in may...
Aparrently, only like 7 of 41 pre froyo phones were updated o.o
Andof the samsung family tree, the intercept is the only one to get the update.
I wish I knew how to post links, cuz it was an interesting chart and It shows me we're not alone in this plight.
And, honestly, atleast we got a semi-official froyo build out...the x10 owners are stuck with eclair and a statement from sony erricson saying how they feel the custom 2.1 is on par or better than vanilla ui lol

This link has some info on it. Some guy says you can get it in the Sprint store. Until we get other confirmation though, I call BS. Then again I've also heard Tuesday may be OTA, which may corroborate the above statement. Either way, it is all complete rumor and no sources have proven to be reliable.

Wow sasung is just circle jerking. I wanna know what's so different in the vibrant 4g that it has froyo but the regular vibrant doesn't.
If I'm not mistaken, the only difference is the hspa+ radio and ffc right?
And nah you definitely won't be ale to get it from the sprint store lol and I doubt it'll happen this Tuesday. They're just hanging the carrot infront of our faces, but I don't cre to follow it anymore. If they decide to cut the string and give us the carrot, I'm happy, but now I'm just indifferent when I see it.

[Q] ICS update for R800x, wonder if it will be sooner then other X-PLAYS

I was thinking since Verizons Xperia PLAY does not use the TimeScape and uses Vanilla Gingerbread ROM. I'm wondering if Verizons ICS update (if it does come out) would be released much sooner then the rest of the Xplays as SE would not have to mash their custom overlay to it. I wold imagine that with the some time and the bug testing and whatnot you wold think that the update should be pretty pain free. Just my thoughts.
Doubt it, they already stated that the Xperia Play models will get the update between April and May. They wouldn't push it out twice for the same device in my opinion.
the problem with the r800x is that verizon is in control of the updates, and so far they have done a bad job of it...we still don't have 2.3.4...
it makes sense due to no custom overlay, but we are talking about verizon...
i hope (i know its not true) but hope that they stopped doing 2.3.4 so they can push 4.0 out faster....haha i know
Keep dreaming...
If you look at the history of going from 2.3.2 - 2.3.3 - 2.3.4 your model has always been last to get the update even though it is bare bones android.
At best you should wait for ICX to release a CDMA version.
Or wait for CM9
It would be waaaayyy faster than waiting for Verizon.
Btw CM9 will be here by the end of next month
cm9 would be sweet, but just like verizon, cdma seems to be the big sucking point and we probably won't get cm9 for a long time either...

FXP has been pretty good on release schedules for CM7 updates, and is planning on releasing for the Play. It may be another 2-3 weeks after the GSM release, but CDMA will follow up.

Even my boyfriend who works for Verizon says they don't give a crap about supporting their customers. I'd be surprised if you guys ever saw an official ICS update.
No worries though, we have awesome devs =D
Who cares anyway? Verizon doesn't owe us anything, they never promised upgrades for the rest of your phone's life.
And like anything else in life, if you really want something, do it yourself, instead of relying on some government or corporation to do it for you.
Isn't that what xda is all about? Getting what we want, regardless of what the phone companies say?

the one thing that puts me off of a nexus device the screen size
the next thing that puts me off is the method to unlock and root the device
