How do I add wallpaper to CM7? - Nook Color Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Okay...still playing with CM7 and I'd like to be able to change the wallpaper. I'd even like to try and use one of the stock wallpapers. But I can't figure out how you add to the available wallpapers in CM7. I've searched all over and it seems the only thing to do is install an app. I can't even figure out how to add anything to the gallery in CM7. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't understand your question(s).
To change wallpaper long press on the wallpaper and a menu should pop up.
To add pictures to your gallery, I've seen problems of people that have it downloaded to the folder Downloads that actually don't appear on Gallery. In that case, a workaround is to create a folder on the root of the SDcard and move the pictures there. Also have a play with the option from inside Gallery (such as default albuns). You should try this before creating the folder in root.

I want to add other wallpapers to use besides the 'stock' ones. The only options I have are "CyanogenMod Wallpapers", "Gallery", "Live Wallpapers", and "No wallpaper". I want to add some additional wallpapers to use besides the CM7 wallpapers.
First option would be to add to the list of wallpapers that are available under "CryanogenMod Wallpapers". So, my first question is how does one do that, if at all?
My next choice is to get something in the gallery, but I can't figure out how to do that either and I get no option for albums in the gallery. It just sees nothing.

I think that now I got it!
The only way that I know how to add extra wallpapers is either installing 1) Wallpaper Rotator, 2) putting images in gallery or, 3) adding wallpapers through the market.
1) and 3) are done using market.
2) Go to the gallery (through the app), click menu, show hide albums (or maybe settings-default albums) and check which albuns are enabled. Then try downloading an image from the internet and see if it shows that image.
The images contained in your sdcard, like in a root folder, should show up in gallery.
I hope this helps! It works on mine!

Thanks. I'm having issues with the gallery for some reason. I keep getting force closes on the status bar when I try to open the gallery and I have no option for the albums. I did figure out that the problem is with the gallery and that, after a restart, it found the places I tried.
For the record, it recognized folders in all of these as albums
SDCard->Root
SDCard->DCIM
SDCARD->DCIM->Camera

I'm using 7.1RC1 and sometimes I also get some strange force closes where my status bar disappears. In my case it was never with Gallery.
Still I think you sort of solved it.

Yep - I'm good! Thanks!

Don't use gallery. Download quickpic from the marketplace, it's free and works a lot better.

they kind of screwed up when making this change. if you change the lockscreen wallpaper by using the plus icon in the top right, you'll only be able to use the stock wallpapers. however, if you go into settings->screen->wallpaper(or something like that, I don't have my tab on me), you'll only be able to pick from images in your gallery. you should be able to do either in both places but.. oh well
I was frustrated by the lack of lockscreen wallpapers until I discovered that if you go to the Gallery app, and select a photo, you can set it as your lock screen background using the Gallery settings menu.

[Q] Lost icons in TW Apps draw

I have been creating some folders for applications in my app pages - just to keep them organised. Create one called Photo and dropped in Camera and Gallery icons, then created a fe more folders, and suddenly the Folder has disappeared and the icons with it. My Camera and Galery icons are now only visible in the 'frequently used' tab by not the 'All' tab. A reboot has not brought them back. I can use the applications launched from the copy I have on my homescreen, but this seems weird that they have vanished. Device is a stock, unrooted , and no customisations whatsoever. Any help would be appreciated.
I had the same problem, I gave up trying to find a fix and just installed a new launcher (ADW Launcher ex, about $3), if you are looking for a new one I would suggest the new Go Launcher HD (it is free).

Go to Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>All>TWlauncher and clear data. All your icons will be back and the home screen will revert to stock. Drawback is you have to recustomise your home screens again.

Thanks, I have been trying to figure this out for a couple of weeks.
I have the sample problem. After creating some folders, some icons disappeared.
It should be a bug.
The icon will lost after made a update
Thanks for the solution, a frustrating bug which has made me try out go launcher HD. Very nice and smooth.

[TiP] I9001 Stock issues workarounds

A lot of users are facing this problems:

Biggest TW4 bug that drove me crazy in XXKQE was that apps and icos sorted spontaneously every time i rebooted phone, and even sometimes when phone was running. Additionaly icons in dock bar used to return to defaults (I change stock messaging app to other one) very often. And lockscreen wallpaper couldn't be set to "none". That's all I've noticed

and i wanted to share my workarounds:
if you have better ideeas post here please.
You can workaround both issues:
1) For TW4 find the apk under settings select it and delete data. all icons form app will be sorted alfabetical and desktop apps will be set to the default ones. Then set desktop as you wish and reboot to recovery and fix permisions. The apps will be saved at this.
2)For no lock screen wallpaper select no wallpaper from display setting then boot to recovery and fix permisions.
Remeber:
You must repeat (1) for TW4 for every new app you install and every new app shortcut to desktop you make.
You must repeat (2) for every time you set a lockscreen wallpaper and then you want to select no wallpaper again.
Best of luck
Many people might already know that, but regarding the apps getting sorted there is an app called appzorter. It sorts the apps for you. Either by name or by installation date.

[Q] Google apps folder

Hi.
Just got a Nexus 4 after some thieving Spanish barstewards stole my Note 2. Loving the phone so far.
Quick question. Can you add to the Google apps folder on the home screen that is there when you first start it up? I know you can delete from it as I deleted the Youtube widget, but I wanted to add the Google Now widget but when I try to add it as if it was a folder it doesn't work.
Is it just not possible?

Guess I'm not following what you mean exactly by folder?
Are you using the stock launcher or another launcher (ie: apex, nova, etc) .
Normally to add a widget you would simply long-press the home screen, select widgets, and pick that, and should show up as a widget, if you're creating a folder you're probably dragging the app icon onto something else.
Yeah, I thought I wasn't explaining myself very well.
It's stock launcher. On the home screen, when you first set up the phone, there is a widget/folder titled "Google" which is effectively a folder containing the widgets for various Google apps ie Gmail, Google+, maps etc. I wondered whether it is possible to add to this folder (for want of a better word). If I try to drag a widget over it that doesn't work.
Hope that's a bit clearer.
Don't worry - sorted it.

Does anyone know the

Location of the lock screen wallpapers?
Running a custom rom, when I go to change the lock screen wallpaper I only get the option to use the stock Sammy ones.
If I can get the location I can put my own pictures there.
Thanks in advance.

Can you go to Wallpaper options under 'Display' in 'Settings'? You should be able to pick the lockscreen wallpaper and choose any image from your Gallery.
The wallpaper pictures of your stock Sammy application are compiled in the .apk file, so you have to decompile the .apk, to add new pictures then recompile it. It's not so simple, but you should find a thread about it on XDA.
The best way to put your own picture on your lockscreen is to choose the Gallery application which allows you to choose the picture from your storage and adapt it to the screen size.
But it needs the gallery.apk to be installed within your ROM.
Tried display in settings and it just gives me the stock images, no gallery option.
When I want to change the home screen wallpaper it gives me loads of options including gallery so I'm pretty sure I have the gallery.apk installed?
