I'm in the market for a new case since the $3 one I bought on Ebay is starting to peel finish. I'm looking for the thinnest, slickest case out there.
What case are you using?
Do you like it?
How much was it?
Where did you buy it?
Pictures?
THX!
well i would like to know this as well.
However i can enlighten you on how horrible the body glove case from sprint is. it looked great and was loving the feel until after a week, pulled it out of my pocket to find the case was broke where the volume rocker is. needless to say it looked and felt good but all in all i do NOT recommend it to anyone.

Mine did exactly the same thing, lasted about two weeks.
Funny, I ordered one of the $3.00 ones off of Ebay to replace it.
Actually I got mine on Amazon... forgot. This is the case I bought and while it is pretty thin and fits well, the paint job is totally shotty and now looks horrible:

I bought the white and chrome case from Sprint when I got the phone. I have had my phone since the release day for the EVO and the case still looks brand new. I really like the leather feel, and the chrome accents add to the overall beauty of the phone. I would recommend the case to anyone!
A guy I work with bought this one on Ebay about 2 weeks ago and says he's still happy with it:

That Seido case looks bulky no? I'm looking for something that doesn't add to the already large footprint of this thing in my pocket.
How about the Otterbox cases.. anyone have experience with them on other devices (not out yet for the evo)

My buddy has a well-worn one on his iPhone that has been through hell and still looks good.

i have the body glove universal holder from radio shack which works for me. however, i am looking at getting the Seidio Innocase holster case combo... which is a steal on amazon as the case itself is $30 at sprint and the combo is $30 on amazon.
http://www.amazon.com/Seidio-Innoca..._1_4?ie=UTF8&s=wireless&qid=1282702286&sr=8-4
i already tried the case and its nice and fits inside the body glove holder too, snuggley like pigs in a blanket at ihop.
Shouldn't this be in the Accessories forum?
(Black TPU case FTW.)
Yep... should be in accessories thread... my bad.
Are the otterbox cases thin though... I'm really looking for the thinnest case out there.
I always just wait for some YouTube reviews to pop up, shows me are how big the case is in real life. (Or as real as I care to get.)

Looking at the impact series case it doesn't look to be too bad. I really like the looks of the bottom two cases, so I signed up to be notified when they come out. I had the Sprint Body Glove case, had since release actually, but the volume rocker area just cracked last week. Lasted longer then most I suppose.
I've got the Seidio Innocase holder IceCreaMan linked to and it has been nice. It's got a nice texture, doesn't slide easily, isn't bulky, has a belt clip, and with the case on, it makes it so the camera doesn't stick out. It doesn't cover anything either so you still have your speakers, cameras, microphones, plugs, etc. Would definitely recommend it.
the Innocase II is a proven design in my opinion
its thin, and can take a drop (ive dropped mine from 8ft + onto concrete without any cracks in the case/damage to the phone)
I got a couple cheap cases from ebay; they're the clamshell design that has a front & back the snap together. They all felt too big and bulky though, so I got a Talon to replace 'em. Love it. Just snaps onto the back of the phone and protects the corners from drops and the camera from scratches when laying the phone on it's back. I have an InvisibleShield on the front to protect the touch screen from scratches.
The talon is almost like not having a case at all -- doesn't add much bulk to the phone.
And it's only 10 bucks.
Got my case today, I was a little worried because two days after I purchased it Ebay pulled all of the sellers listings and sent me a notice saying I could file a claim to get my money back. Since the seller had good feedback, and he had notified me that it had been shipped (from China), I decided to wait and see if it would show up, which it did.
I really like it, much better fit and quality than the Sprint body glove I had on my phone before. Time will tell if it lasts, but I have to say for $3.00, I am pretty impressed. It has a soft feel that gives a more secure feeling grip than the body glove, plus it is slightly thinner, but still protects the camera lens. Plus it is red, love the color.
Wish I could give a link to the one I got, the seller has put some of his cases back up, but no Evo cases yet.
Here is a link to a red rubberized hard case that looks very similar to the one I got.

I just ordered one of these on ebay from TPD Gear. It should come in a couple days and I'll post a review. This one looks promising, if its similar to the Senyx one I bought but with clips instead of straps.
Here's my quick and dirty review and some photos (see posts 9 and 10):

Actually looks like a good economical option. Do chime in when you get yours.
Does anyone else have one of these???
i was looking into this one as well. looking forward to the review

Okay, I fess up. I got tired of the slippage issue with the official Acer case. I can literally with a few gentle shakes get my A500 free of the case now. Therefore I ordered the TPD case. It looks like it will be the least bulky of the choices.
But I still state my version of the dream case would be the union of thinness of the Acer to the lock tab tray of the TPD.

You'd better hurry. My tracking says tomorrow, Thursday, and I'm posting if no one beats me to it.
First set of photos.
So I just got the case tonight, so this is more or less a first impression of it.
First thing I noticed is that its bulkier than my Senyx folio case, but a little more compact. It's actually really close to the dimensions of the A500, so there's not a lot of edge margin along the perimeter of the case and the tablet itself, as there is on the other case. That said, if you look at my second set of photos on the next post, you'll see that with the tablet in the Senyx case, its really close the same thickness as the TPD case.
The material looks good, and has very little odor, which I imagine will go away like it did on my other case. The stand function is quite functional and very well designed, as it doesnt fold in on itself like other cases do, so structurally the case doesnt really bend too easily. The one gripe I can forsee is that the slots that hold the tablet when in stand mode may slip over time, but we'll see.
An elastic band binds the case together when its being transported, as you can see in the second set of photos. This works well enough, and keeps the profile very flat.
Now, on to the main reason I bought this -- the clips that hold the Tablet in. I really do not like the pouch-design that the other cases use because the tablet can slip fairly easily in it. The Senyx case uses straps along the corners and I've noticed that these straps have stretched already in the 2.5 weeks I've used it so it also does slip sometimes. These clips work wonderfully. They feel like they have some rubber material coated on them so it would help alleviate scratching to the tablet, but it was a bit difficult to put on at first and to take off. I think you are suppose to slide it in from the bottom.
The clips DO block the SD slot slightly!!!! It's just a tad too long, and it blocks the very end of the port making it, so far, not able to open while attached to the clips.
As far as weight goes, its a little bulkier as I mentioned because of an added layer which acts as the rear leg in kickstand mode, and this adds roughly 0.40 lbs when compared to the Senyx case. Both of these are heavier than the Acer OEM case.
--added one more thing-- I just noticed that in kickstand mode, there's speaker cutouts hidden under the kickstand in folio mode. Pretty awesome
OK -- sorry this was quick and dirty.
So far so good though!
second set of photos -- the last couple are the Senyx folio case. Also a nice pick.
Looks nice, but also looks like it adds a fair bit of bulk, thought not as much as the Targus model.
The Acer case isn't perfect, but is low impact on the foot print.
Your thoughts?

I just wrote a quick write-up on it in post 9.
I had the Acer case and I hated it. It's very slim, but I couldnt stand it as I felt it degraded the overall look and quality of my tablet. This case is definitely a lot bulkier then the Acer case and the Senyx case. I like the clips though -- The Senyx case with clips would be ideal for me, since I do not care for the kickstand function as much -- I have the Arkon stand already.
Im more interested if you took these pics and did this write-up while "breaking bread with the porcelin god".

lol. it was the brightest area i could find to take pics quickly near my room.
didnt even notice the toilet....haha. thanks for the w/u and pics.
this case its tops on my list so far....
Got my TPD case today. It has very good contruction quality. It looks great and in the scope of its design it works very well as intended.
Since the components are all synthetic materials, it has an odor to it when brand new. That was easily dealt with, though, by a healthy dose of fabric freshener.
I love the plastic holder tray that is sewn into the case. It holds the device in place with a snap (pun intended) of authority and allows a nice view of the shiny toy it cradles so well. As mentioned in previous comments, the top bracket tab overlaps the SD card slot door. However, I don't see that as a show stopper. Unless you are using multiple SD cards to manage media, you won't need to bother with it much. I feel that if needed, the tab could be modified without any real impact to it's retention ability.
Other than that matter, the holder tray allows full access to all other ports and switches with no troubles.
I am not enamored of the extra bulk the case adds. But practically every case of this type has that issue to one degree or another. The Iconia already has significant thickness and this case adds to that in full measure. I'll take a few days with the case to see if I can live with it.
The case also makes the Iconia less comfortable to hold in portrait, at least to me. I do use it in portrait quite a bit, almost as much as landscape, but I'm willing to admit my use scenario is different from others. After all, all these tablets are designed primarily for landscape, so there you go. In landscape, especially when using it in easel mode, it is terrific.
In summary, it may not be perfect, but it is a very good option if you are looking for an executive folio type case that is also a landscape easel stand.

So I tried the TPD for a few days. Its good, but the bulk and added weight was too much for me. I suspect the same for the Targus model. I'm back to the Acer case with some 3M Command double sided stickies to keep it in place.

Anybody think like me, that by the time we have all bought multiple cases to try them out, and then discard them because they have a fault or two, we could have just stumped up the shocking price of the pdair case and had done with it

lol ya. i was able to return the acer case at least. but i do have two cases now. luckily my co-worker might be getting one of these tablets so i might sell it to him for a reduced price.
the TPD case is a bit heavy, but im starting to like it alot. there are times when i take the tablet out of the case when im going to be holding it for long periods of time, but it works great on the table or on my lap.
just got in my case today.... It is a little bulky, but exactly what i was looking for
Hey I just ordered the Blurex slim case off of amazon this past weekend and just received it yesterday. All I can say is this is exactly what I'he been waiting for. All ports/slots are accessible and very secure and slim fit. This is my second case. I originally bought the Targuss case and found it too bulky. Check it out you won't be disappointed. I would post a link, but because this is only my third posting, I am not allowed.
You mean this one I think: http://www.amazon.com/BLUREX-Leathe...1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1311197031&sr=1-1
Looks to be exactly what I would want from a case, but can't find it anywhere in the EU region as always
Yes that's it. And I got it for $ 19.99 us currency. $25 shipped to my door.
Wow, they brought the price up already. I just got it for 33.00 out the door. It looks like what I have been looking for. In the review, besides the slimness, the reviewer mentioned folding the cover back and holding the Acer like a book. That was my only complaint over the roocase I have now. If this cover is what i hope it to be, I will be returning the roocase.

You can flip it vertically like a book.
So I like this case and proceeded to checkout and they tell me that the item won't ship to Canada !!
Bought stuff from there ( amazon.com ) before and shipped no problem...which tells me that this item might be ship from somewhere else with Canada being one of the restriction.
Just confirming that this is the one:

And yes, it's just as amazing as described.
It feels really solid, looks gorgeous and very professional. It's exactly the type of case I was looking for.
The inside felt is very nice. All ports/mic/camera is accessible.
Please let me know if you'd like photos of anything specific on the case.

As far as I can tell it does not ship outside of the U.S. Big shame because this looks like the best case so far =/
To the folks who have it, when you flip the cover all the way back to "hold it like a book" as the reviewer in Amazon states, it probably covers the speakers right? How well can you hear thru it when it is put in that position?
Thanks!

Quick question. I got this case a couple of days ago. I really like how its shaped. It conforms to the curves of the tablet exactly. All the ports are accessible including the SD card port. I have two issues though and tell me if you agree. Since I saw the post and pictures of the guy who dropped his and got it smashed up, this case doesn't protect the corners very well from a drop if the case falls and lands on the corners. Also the tab that clips on to the tablet to close the case doesn't wrap around the bevel of the case completely. It keeps the case closed, but it looks like it barely is. Im wondering if this where loosen over time and use. Other than that, I really like the case. Especially the quality of build and how thin it is. Check out the pictures and you can see what I mean about the corners.

Just received this case today for my wifes tab. Overall it is a very nice case, with great build quality. It is thin, with a low profile unlike the Targus leather case sold at BB. My only complaint is that in order to position the screen into one of the viewing angles, the tab must be pushed out of the bottom tab holders. It's not a big deal, but I did find myself fumbling with it slightly.

I just got mine today and yes, holding it in that position would cover the speakers. If you can imagine holding a thick piece of leather over the speaker, that's how it would sound.
If that doesn't bother you then I highly recommend this case. I've owned the Acer one and I have a gtablet with a cover and this one is hands down better than those and others I have seen so far. The case is very snug. As a matter of fact I had difficulty putting it on as well as taking it off. I can't imagine mt tab ever falling out of it accidently even though the tabs that hold it in are so small.
It's also very slim profile. Doesn't add much bulk to the tablet. Also, if this is fake leather, they've done a pretty good job as I can't tell.

Well, I ordered the Nexus 4 last week and have been lurking all over these forums since then. I need some help with picking a case. I have narrowed my choices down to the three very different ones listed below this paragraph. As you can see they all offer different pros and cons (at least to me). I'm trying to decide if function (keeping the phone from shattering) is more important than aesthetics (showing off that beauty and sleekness). Since I just dropped $350 for this device, I have been leaning heavily towards the former. I'm definitely open to other suggestions and I'm willing to spend up to $50. These are just the three that caught my eye.
Poetic Borderline Bumper Yellow- $10
The Good: Minimal bulk, I like the stylish yellow, low price, shows off the back
The Bad: Poor user reviews but Poetic claim it's been resolved, while it does have minimal bulk since it is just a bumper that means less protection, the poor reviews state that it falls apart in days or weeks. I know I should be weary but I love the look of the yellow on black with full view of the back.
Ringke Fusion - $16
The Good: Covers the back but still shows it off, low price, not much bulk, better protection than just a bumper
The Bad: I haven't been able to find many reviews. Reports that the clear back having that "wet" look.
Seidio Active with Kickstand - $35
The Good: the best protection out of these cases listed, has a kick stand (which I miss from my HTC EVO days), comes in many colors, I have one now for my Nexus S 4G and it's protected it well even though I'm not a huge fan of the bulk.
The Bad: Somewhat expensive, really bulky compared to the other two above, sort of ugly, the kickstand is cool but it does add some bulk. Reports of the wireless charging not working with it on (this isn't isn't an issue yet since I don't have a Qi but I plan to someday)
Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance to all who have read this.

From the three and you mentioned you wanted for protection, then Seidio is the way to go. I have always bought Active cases for my tablets and phones except this one. I haven't a need for that yet. I have had it for my past Sensation, Kindle Fire, and now Nexus 7. It's my daily case for my N7, but for the Sensation, it was my travel case.
In the later months, I opted for the "hybrid tpu" case for the Sensation which exposed the back, much like the Fusion. I am getting the Fusion now and getting a holster from Seidio to fit.
Bottom line, for travel and good protection, I'd go Active. Middle of the road would be the Fusion. I preface that by saying I have yet to receive my Fusion yet so take that with a grain of salt for now.
The hybrid case biggest fault are the feel of the buttons. Not wet. I believe the wet look come from those using screen protectors in the back.

Why didn't you just cut it yourself? Easy to do and no waiting time and of course it's for free
For those who have the Seidio active case and want to use their wireless charger? The issue is the metal kickstand which may or may not work with the Orb but I would not use it on my charging mat. I have the surface with metal kickstand. I bought the Acase superleggera pro case for $15 and it is similar to the seidio active and it works fine with my charging mat. I missed the holster so I asked a buddy (who has the active combo) to let me see if the Acase fit in the seidio active holster and guess what? It fits! It's a tiny bit tighter on the sides but still slides in and out pretty easily and the spring loaded clip works fine.
For those in this situation you may just want to spring for the case for 15 if you wirelessly charge.
http://www.amazon.com/Acase-Superle...58&sr=8-1&keywords=acase+superleggera+nexus+4
Which of these cases do you prefer? I've been considering both. Wireless charging is not an issue for me and will be carrying in my pocket
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda app-developers app
Just to be clear I have the surface which is less bulky than the active and the superleggera is closer to the active.
That said I would say the seido has a slight edge in quality however when you factor in the price, the superleggera is a better value!
The surface case is slimmer, still offers good protection and had a good grip. If you do not intend to charge wirelessly it is what I recommend.
You can get the best price on android central and put "save 15" in the coupon box to save 15%

Just bought a nexus 4 after google's price cut, can someone recommend me a case that offer a good protection without compromising the N4's looks?
Currently I am considering the ringke fusion.
Any other recommendations?

I got the case you are considering but it has yet to arrive in the post which is annoying as i won't take my N4 outside without some sort of case.
Will let you know once i get it which should hopefully be later today or tomorrow.
There is no case that won't compromise its looks, simple as that. Even with the Ringke Fusion.. sure, you can see the back, but through plastic. And the rest is still TPU.. and in reality it doesn't look as flawless and nice as in the renders. There's always a compromise.
You could go for more minimalistic cases such as the quicksand ones. I'm currently using one of them and I really like its look and feel because it doesn't change it as much (I also have a diztronic tpu case which I'll only be using for when I expect rougher conditions, e.g. travel, hiking or whatever). But it comes at the cost of less protection for the device.
It's a matter of what you prioritize and what risks you're willing to take for better look and feel.

If you're concerned about shipping time, there should be lots of other places to buy them. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2030443 this is another thread on that kind of case.. I'd expect them all to be pretty much if not exactly the same

that is one ugly cheap case...
It's certainly cheap, but I much prefer it to my diztronic tpu case (http://tpu-cases.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=46_76&products_id=303). The material feels very nice and not plastic-y (a bit like jeans, I'd say) and it hardly adds any bulk, which tpu cases do. I also really dislike the shiny border around the edge most tpu cases have, cause that does look pretty cheap.
I personally ordered it cause I was looking for a different case and this one seemed like a very low-risk option, and I ended up liking it a lot. Your mileage may vary, obviously.

I had a similar type case on my nexus for a few months and it was great. Had a really great feel to it and it actually looks pretty darn sharp when it's on the phone. Doesn't look cheap at all. :good:
thanks, but I think I'll stick with the Ringke Fusion case. I like the clear back.
U can't go wrong with the oem bumper. It offers protection on all edges and prevents both front and back from laying directly on surfaces. I've had it on my white N4 since purchase and i don't have a scratch. Not to mention I am constantly subject to compliments and questions peeked by its sexy appearance.

I am always partial to the Ringke slim cases. I've had them on my last few phones

I personally would go with bumper case and maybe add a screen protector on both sides (something like Ghost Armor or Zagg or dBrand skin if you want to go a bit more expensive, OR just get something like XtremeGuard for the back for a cheap alternative - XtremeGuard costs me about $2 for front and back  )

For me and is what I use.
I reallu glad with bumper case from poetic.
Your phone keep with the original look protected, if you want a litle more prtection 2 skins one on the back and other on the front.
Box Wave Bamboo case! Only case I have kept on a phone longer than a week! Now going for two months.

Ringke Slim or Poetic Pallete case.
Hands down two best slim cases. (My opinion lol)

Ditto. Unless you're extraordinarily clumsy, the OEM bumper should provide plenty of protection. I've had my Nexus 4 with bumper since December of last year and it has survived many drops. It's even survived a drop onto concrete, complete with a few bounces, with no scratch. The crack that my Nexus 4 has came from when I took the case off momentarily and then it dropped about a foot and a half onto the soft part of an open binder. >_<
OEM bumper + front and back clear skins. Everything else is hideous.
Currently using the Incipio Feather, but I have to admit that the N4 pretty much only looks good caseless.
Tried the official bumper, but it just didn't stick either.

Exactly. Coming from a person who has never liked or had cases on their devices - I just got the OEM bumper in the mail yesterday, and I'm stunned at how good it looks. It actually makes the phone look nicer with the aluminium accents, and protects it rather well.
What do you suggest?
Alright so I'm a little late to the Nexus 4 party, but after much delay, I finally decided to upgrade from my archaic Vibrant and order a shiny new N4. Although it hasn't come in just yet, I was interested to know what cases you guys might suggest. You see here's my dilemma... I know for a fact that the Ringke Slim and other like cases are a major no-no for me. They offer too little protection and from what I've heard, leave the very top and bottom of the device exposed. I would get the OEM bumper as it's very attractive, but I've read many, many, many reviews that note its fragility--specifically around the USB port, which apparently is prone to cracking. I'm also considering the Ringke Fusion as it seems to be a popular choice, or the possibility of going with a wallet style case, as I won't need a screen protector then.
However I'm very torn, as there are so many options and so many drawbacks...
What do you guys think? Is the OEM bumper really all that fragile? Does it break as a result of removing the phone from it or does it crack completely on its own? Should I not even consider the OEM bumper case and go with something much more durable (i.e. the Ringke Fusion, wallet case)? Should I just go naked!?!? (referring to the phone of course )
Thanks in advance! Looking forward to hearing some feedback!
